[Q] [Mobile Vikings, Belgium] Samsung Galaxy S3 Connectivity problem HSDPA - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have read through all the possible solutions that may have any relation to my problem,and I didn't find anything. So I just wanted to open my own thread about it.
I own a Samsung Galaxy S3, model no GT- I9300 with Android version 4.1.2, build no JZO54K.I9300XXELLA and as of a few months I'm not able to connect to the HSDPA or HSDPA+ network of my provider (Mobile Vikings Belgium). There is a perfect coverage of H and H+ where I live and I'm able to connect to it, but when I want to connect to the internet, i can't load web pages, or I can't access apps that need internet connection.
On the Samsung S3 there are 2 arrows that show download and upload, and only the upload arrow is blinking (the green one). My network mode is on auto, so that means it will connect to H when it's available, and it is, but only upload.
I already read stuff about changing something in the software by accessing the phone through an mmi code, but this doesn't work.
I didn't root my phone, i just have the original Kernel. The provider already helped me with possible changes in apn settings, but this doesn't help either. I figure it has something to do with my phone, and not the connectivity of the provider.
I hope somebody can help me out with this problem, because I am already connected to this slow Edge network for too long and I like to get what I paid for, like all you guys want.

Have you tried wiping all your data and your cache?
You can do this by powering off your device and then press and hold the Volume up button, the homebutton and the powerbutton at the same time. Then, It should boot in Recovery Mode. From there you can select Wipe all data and select it with the powerbutton.
Please note that you will lose all data that's on your device.
I know that Mobile Vikings EDGE can be a real pain in the ass!

First of all, thank you for that reply. I already did a factory reset. But I'm asking myself if this is the same thing as you just told me? I think it really has something to do with a setting on my phone, something that is blocked so that I can't get an H connection.

Me had the same problem like u except my fone can't connect to data provider.what I do is I reflash again my rom but the problem stil persists...then I just flash a new modem xxlavthen the problem solve..my fone rooted..

you need to install a custom recovery and flash different modems

I've got the exact same problem as you have. I'm also a viking.
Sometimes I just can't seem to use the data, I never got down to the conclusion that it might be the HSDPA but it makes sense.
It's only been a problem since I updated to 4.1 for me. When I first got my phone everything worked fine.
Is the only problem for this problem rooting and flashing the phone ?
If thats what it takes sure but it sounds like a mayor overkill to me.
-> I've just resolved the problem for me by taking another look at the apn settings by hand.
Mobile vikings texts you the settings, which work just find but not for the hsdpa.
If i edit my settings as they describe here: https://mobilevikings.com/bel/nl/setup/#/samsung/i9300-galaxy-s-iii/internet/handmatig-instellen
It seems to work for me now. I'll report back if it breaks again .

Thanks for some new insights on this problem. Can you explain me what "flashing to a new modem" means?
And I have to root my phone to solve it you all think? I'm just afraid that the whole thing won't work anymore because of that.

You dont need root to flash a modem ...If its a Odin flashable modem .
Modem/ Baseband is country ./ network specific for some a different modem may improve a bad signal .
Likewise CSC wrong may mean you have wrong network APN details unless you enter them manually .
Basics Faqs and Guides .includes flashable modems .

Hi. I just read some noob stuff on that link you've sent me. I decided to try flashing the modem. And I really hope it works. But when I want to download the file, I don't know if I have to take the cwm or Odin one. I don't have a rooted phone, but you said it wasn't needed. I have android 4.1.2.
My country and network is not in that list so I guess it's just that JB directory I needed to click.

I have I9300XXELLA as baseband. So I guess I can try the XXLL4 or XXELKC that are stated under 4.1.2 in the galaxy s3 modem/radio collection.

Guys, just had the same thing when switching back to my S2.
I got an sms with 'press this and you will get the correct settings'
When driving back from work someone just sent me a whatsapp and I couldn't open it up.
Just went to the apn settings ----->> more -> mobile networks -> access points names -> do a new apn and name it like 'mv2' or so
apn = web.be
username = web
password = web
No need to change something else! Save it and make sure it is selected

So you say I have to make another apn right next to the other one then? Or delete the other one but it has the same things in it. I put them in manually, so it's the same as your settings.

Well I have several apn's in it. Just manually make the new one and select it.
Try it out and let us know.

It's not working. Do you leave authentication type and apn type blank?

authentication type = not set
apn type = internet + mms
mcc = 206
mnc = 20
All the rest except the apn user and pwd is empty

So I can just load this zip file on my sd card and put it on my phone without rooting it or make a recovery?

Nope, extract it on your computer and open Odin on your computer. Now, boot your phone in 'Download mode' (Hold power button, home button and volume down), next press the volume up button to proceed. Load the .MD5 file in the PDA section of odin and don't touch anything else. Press start to start the flashing. It should flash everything. Don't forget to wipe data and cache afterwards.

Ok, I'm gonna look into this more in the weekend. I hope I can make it work and that I can find some more info how to do it exactly.
Thanks anyway everyone. I will report back on this issue when I tried it.

[SOLVED] Problem on SWH M250S Korean mobile.

Hello friends,
I bought one Samsung galaxy S2 from south Korea. having model number SWH M250S.
I live in India, So I wanted to converted it into GT-I9100, SO flashed with Indian firmware which i downloaded from samfirmware.com.
Now actually I have one major problem and two minor problem.
Major Problem.
===============
I have no mobile signal or you can say very less signal on my phone. On average, In 24 hour it I can say it is available on phone for just two hour.This problem persist with both the firmware. ( Korean and Indian).
Also I am little bit confuse on Antenna side of Korean Galaxy S2.
In International or Indian galaxy S2 I am not seeing any antenna wire or cable which you can pull out. The antenna is internal a log wire type which is connecting from top to bottom,( I saw in youtube video) But In Korean galaxy S2 I can see one cable on the right top corner of the phone. Is this is the antenna used for network signal catching or it is used for TV antenna.
I am totally confused that it is a hardware problem or software problem.
Minor Problem
===============
1. Messaging is restricted to 80 character only in Korean firm, but this is getting over when I am flashing a Indian firmware.
2. The screen lock option is not coming after enabling the option in setting , and power key is not displaying its usual options like restart, shutdown, flight mode. For this I read in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899309 , that i have to be root to get this option. But i tried it and it was not displaying those options ( May be I am doing something wrong.)
The Minor issue is ok.. I am not bothering too much On these, but please friends help me on solving the major one.
It looks like I am carrying a PDA instead of a phone.
Thank you
Please help
Hello friends,
Please help me on this issue..
The network problem got solved somehow, but still I am not able to lock my mobile.
Screen lock is not working.
and even power button is not giving other options like restart, flight mode etc..
If you guys need other information please ask..
1st, please change your thread title.. it is a question, so instead of [Guide], it should be [Q]
But anyway, your model is SHW-M250S and it is different with the model GT-I9100. You should not flash any GT-I9100 firmwares, only SHW-M250S..
There is no way to convert your model to GT-I9100, only mod it.. i believe there is a thread somewhere in the General section with the same model as yours. Perhaps checking it there would be your best bet

S3 loss of network

Hi all, on Sunday evening my rooted (omega v36) lost its connection to the network out of the blue for no reason, it had been running the rom for weeks with no changes, I've restored to stock, checked the imei for corruption & with network provider to make sure it's not blocked. The symptoms are that with a three sim I get signal bars, no data and when I try to make calls it says not registered on network, when I place in a Vodafone sim it gets data but says not registered on network. I'm totally at a loss and looks like I'm gonna have to sell for spares or repair. Does anyone have any ideas, is it any use to anyone as a spare or repair phone? I am in Southampton UK if anyone has any ideas maybe where I could take it etc.
Thanks

When you pull the notification bar down, does it say 3 or emergency calls only?
When I get the emergency calls only it will say i'm not registered on the network. It could be a three problem, you can also try blowing into the SD card reader see if a little dust has got in there somehow.
After these try flashing a different rom, or restoring a nandroid, I got this on SuperNexus once, flashed stock and it worked fine, could be something has just messed up when you flashed.
Please post for help in the Q&A section
Thanks

What you should do is don't hijack topics and read the basic faqs and guides .
Flash stock rom via Odin .

Shaun can I ask are you with t mobile? Ive recently got my phone back after experiencing the screen of the death. My s3 runs stock touch wiz and following 4 weeks I got the phone back last Thursday. Today after receiving a text message at 7am I've lost all network and when I go to settings > mobile networks the following error message appears: " insert sim card - insert sim card to access network services".
I've tested the micro sim in another S3 and it works fine leading me to believe once again the s3 has failed me after 7 days this time.
Phone info below.
Kernel version
3.0.31-742798

SMP preempt sat Dec 22 17:04:04 LST
2012
Build number
J2054k.i9300xxella
UPDATE: Works fine on WIFi, fatcory reset has achieved nothing.
Thanks.

I had the same problem sometime back. The problem could be your modem/radio. I got help here but I cant remember where exactly. Try looking for ariza.zip file and use it to flash your modem. Hope it works.

"Unable to connect, try later" mobile network error after changing firmware

Right i recently drowned my beloved S2 " So i bout one from amazon and got the insurance to fork out
When i received the phone (from china) it was a bit different. You had to put the battery and micro sd card in upside down. It was running an older version of android "gingerbread" i think.
I plugged it into kies. That's when i started running into problems. I had an error saying "your device does not support software upgrading via kies. So i used ODIN after failing to boot up half a dozen firmware. I finally booted up a version of ICS but the could connect to mobile network. "Full signal, sim card works in spare phone"
IEMI number:358414047102471
IEMI lookup results is that it is a SHW-M250S but that firmware gives out same result.
current stats:
PDA I9100NELP2
PHONE: I9100NELP2
CSC: I9100H3GLP2
The phone is fully unlocked.
If you need any info give me a shout.

Sounds like you have flashed the wrong firmware
YOUR model no. SWH-M250? ------- firmware flashed GT-I9100
closest i can find on sammobile is an shw-250k http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=SHW-M250K&pcode=0&os=1&type=1#firmware which is 4.0.3 i'm sure i read VERY quickly about you being able to flash same firmware from i9100 but i doubt it was as easy as just flashing it... you'd have to go search for it... mean while i'd pop the original firmware back so that at least it works as a phone. Search through the forums here your answer awaits. Good luck

Im still not a 100% it is a M250K. Why the hell was amazon selling the dodgy foreign version to start off with!!

when you power off and power on the device what is the model displayed?
if it is i9100 you can try flashing official JB firmware via odin.
Also,some more advice..
If you plan on creating a help topic, dont use silly generic topic titles like "Help!!". These type of titles are not descriptive or specific to your topic content and will just mean you get lower views or possibly none at all.
Topic titles need to be descriptive of content so that people browsing forum can see what topic is about at a glance. Imagine if everybody who posted a help topic put "help" as their title!?

[Q] About to bin Galaxy Ace S5830i - can't flash

OK. Total noob. Followed some of threads on here to a point but seem to be foiled at every turn.
My prob in a nutshell. S5830i kept on running out of internal memory (even though I didn't add any more apps to it - I deleted some). In the end it ground to a halt. My solution was to do a factory reset. It all came back fine apart from no mobile network connectivity, no IMEI and a phone number neither me or Three mobile have seen before. Samsung can't find my account so Keis isn't helping either.
Searched around on this forum. Downloaded the latest firmware. Downloaded clockwork recovery. Paid for the ODIN app. Rooted phone OK. Then Odin didn't recognise the device.
All I want to do is upgrade the f~**ing firmware. Any ideas before I just buy another phone?

The service center is saying that the mothetboard needs to be replaced & are quoting equivalent of $120/-
Can I do something or the only option is to replace the Motherboard
Cheers
