Remember the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8? - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

... that was only released in Korea? Well.. it seems it has morphed into something else and in that form is going to be released in Europe!
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/01/18/exclusive-samsung-to-announce-5-8-android-smartphone/
Do i care about it? If it has the same specs as the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 i don't, because i think Samsung charges too much for their underpowered players. My mind is set on the Huawei Ascend Mate 6.1' Phonblet that will be released soon with a HD screen, 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and an awesome 4000MAh battery. Check the specs: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...eeId=3745&pinfoId=3520&directoryId=6001&tab=0

Hyawai shoul be nice if it has reason price. But i am not satisfy with hyawai.. I have hyawai tablet for 1.5 year and it still have android 2.2,hyawai does not care about it users.

Agree with the price and performance thing you mentioned there. But the 5.8 does have an Enoxys ( <- Wrong spelling I know ) 4 and 1GB of RAM which is significantly better than the 5.0 ect. Although this device costs like £320 for the 32GB model so it's not worth buying. I'm waiting for Nvidia's Project Shield as that just looks awesome.

Agreed. Project Shield is definitely something i want to get. Hopefully the price for it isnt gonna be outrageous like the ASUS Transformer series tablets I hope though that Samsung would release the Galaxy Player 5.8 in the U.S. It would hopefully get people to switch over to android instead of CrApple's iSheep devices

try quadcore processors and HD display screen...Siri is only available on apple as they have bought the company that created it.
It'll likely be at least a 1.2ghz quadcore running ICS Android 4.x - there's no way they'd make the specs any lower than the Galaxy Nexus, so use that as a suggestion for minimum specs. There's good odds it (the Nexus) will be officially announced tomorrow so you'll see all the info then.
The rumored Nexus specs are:
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
9mm thick
4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
1GB of RAM
32GB of built-in storage
5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
1080p HD video capture support
LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
NFC
1,750 mAh battery

Which custom rom will be best for it? Considering there won't be any until after it's released, how would anyone know?
If you want Siri then download Speaktoit.
The SGS3 is months away yet anyway, waste of time speculating at this stage.

I was going to post a similar question..
My HTC Desire HD is sadly having hardware issues and I need to replace it.
I need a phone in the next couple days.
The HTC Ville was my choice, but I don't think I'll be able to wait for its release!
I'm looking for advice on Androids already on the market.
Min. Requirements:
- 4" Screen
- Dual core
- 1GB RAM
It has to be an international phone.
A qwerty (physical) keyboard would be an amazing add-on, but from my googling I don't think that is available with the above specs.
I would love to hear your thoughts.. Thanks
And for the OP.. If you could wait for the Ville, do it
Is ville better or s3

If you can’t wait then I would recommend Google Nexus Prime. If you willing to wait but not for long I would consider looking at “Galaxy SII skyrocket HD” rumors has it that it will be released sometime in March. Finally, if you can wait and you are not in a hurry then I would consider the next gen phones with quad core processors such as Galaxy SIII and HTC Ville as they are going to be some of the first phones that will come with ICS preinstalled

I just came back from the mobile shop, i played around with the nexus prime..
I really liked the screen on that thing! And ICS feels/looks great..
However, what i didn't like is:
- no sd card slot (
- 5 megapixel cam ( my DHD has an 8 and it's 2 years old)
- I've never liked the build of the Samsung smartphones.. Compared to the builds of HTC phones, Samsungs (including the nexus prime) feel like a toy in your hand; or am I the only one who feels that?
So I'm not sure whether I'm willing to sacrifice the above.
I will check the Galaxy SII skyrocket HD.. I'm not sure what to do.. I guess I'll keep on looking.. I don't wanna wish it!
Cheers

My opinion: Galaxy S2 will be a very good option, in fact, the best option before ICS generation.
Galaxy S2
HTC Sensation(XE/XL maybe?)
Sony Xperia S(upcoming)
Sony Xperia Ion(upcoming)
HI,
I recently bricked my phone trying to flash Cyanogenmod 7 on my HTC Desire S (apparently installing a rom on that phone is like running in a mine field).
It worked for an hour before totally crashing the phone.
CM7 was so amazing that I was wondering if there were any phones on which you could install it with close to 0 risks. I mean, it seems to be a piece of cake on the Nexus, but are the Samsung phones safe as well ?
Because after using CM7 I really can't stand HTC Sense anymore and I know that the HTC phones aren't the easiest one to root.
(I know that there are always some risks while installing a rom, I just want the phones with the lowest risks)
Sony Xperia S
My desire is wonderful.. but.. not NFC, bad camera, bad screen etc..
But I love it ...
one vote for SGS2.
Ville with quad? wut
Where do people read that Ville will recieve a quad-core processor?
Ville is supposed to be a DHD predesessor, with a dual-core clocked @ 1.5 GHz
whereas the HTC Edge is the one with quad-core (and this perhaps being a Tegra 3?), with 720p screen, Sense 4, NFC, 4G and international aswell.
I'm getting this as soon as available in Denmark!!

[Q] snapdragon s4 V.S Exynos 4212

i'm thinking of getting the Galaxy s3 but i'm having a bit of trouble deciding which one. before i continue i would like to sate a couple factor :
I have att, 3gb of data
I live in New York so i have LTE coverage everywhere
i barely use data for anything other than downloading an app, browsing the web, or watching something on youtube
i'm a major gamer so thats were getting the international one with its Exynos chip v.s the us one with snapdragon s4
So a couple of questions i wanted to ask you guys was:
Does 1gb vs 2gb of ram really make a difference and improve speed, i don't multitask a lot just like 2 or 3 apps
how good is the snapdragons 4 actually?( Give your opinion, and if you ever had lag when you used it)
How good is the snapdragon s4 for gaming, ex. GTA3, Max Payne, Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, N.O.V.A 3, and if the games ever felt laggy or a little glitchy?
Also they are more developers for the international version
thanks in advance
If you are not worried too much about the LTE speeds than your best bet is i9300. Exynos 4 Quad is definitely better for gaming ... I have the AT&T variant just because I wanted to have unlimited 4G plan (grandfathered unlimited 3G upgraded to unlimited 4G now).
Also, if u have ORD then i9300 is the best choice hands down. I can speak from my own experience when I chose to get i9100 over local US variants. The amount of developer support for the international models is mind boggling. You don't get that much support (as quickly) for the US variants.
So better gaming, better developer support. I would say go for i9300 ... Hope this helps.

I have the US version and I game quite a bit. I frequently play Max Payne, Shadow gun, Dead trigger and GTA3. I don't experience any lag what so ever. I couldn't make this thing lag if I wanted to. The 2Gs of RAM makes a world of difference IMO.

For ME the development alone is the biggest reason why i went for the international, we have so many recognized devs working on so many ROM's and its nice to get the first updates as soon as they come. The quad core is a bonus, as i have never seen a hint of lag or stutter on this thing. The 2gb of ram vs 1gb of ram isnt really that big of a deal to me, phones run perfectly fine on 1gb but 2gb is awesome too. This is why i chose the I9300, its different for everybody but i love this beast.
I come to these forums a lot to see what the US version has cooking and so far it looks like things are getting ready to pick up! Task and Ktoonz (sp?) are awesome devs.
If the $600 is out of your budget, then the convo is done. I mean what else do you need people to say?
Please don't take me being blunt, for rudeness.

No problem. Trust me, your going to love it. You probably won't even want to sell it for the international version. The US version handles everything just fine. In fact, tests have shown where the S4 processor actually performed faster in some situations. Most phones can't even utilize 4 threads yet. Put simply, you get all the performance of the quad-core (and then some), plus amazing battery life. We've seen video proof of the performance. With the S4 Qualcomm has introduced a new architecture, and it's cutting edge. It's based on the same instruction set as the new ARM A15 processors, which gives it a significant advantage over it's competitors. It will do tasks faster, and more efficiently than the rest of the current generation hardware. So performance is just as good overall and battery life should be better.

Don't believe everything you hear the s4 chip is a beast. Not as good as the sammy quad but i say better than tegra. Either way a duel core phone going toe to toe with either of theses processors speak for itself. It's a notice different from last generation duel core. It handles games without a hitch battery life omg all day long . This phone isn't perfect but it's Pretty darn close. I own the evo 4g lte with the s4 chip and it runs sense4 like butter no lag get the phone enjoy it. Development isn't where the international version is because the rest of the world78% to be exact got the same phone and little usa has to have there altered to work with lte. Plus they got theres before us. The u.s galaxy s3 development will pick up fast the delays and Verizon just getting it a few days plays a roll to.

Will You Upgrade In The Future?

So, I have been using my SGS3 for about 6 weeks and I am loving it. This phone is loaded with so much technology that I can not really see what more I would need in a phone.
1.4 dual core CPU
2GB memory
LTE
GPS
Music and video player
Gorgeous 4.8" screen
Will this not last me a few years? This phone will not be obsolete any time soon.
What more would I really need in a phone? I know in the future phones will have more stuff built into them, but to what end? I can actually see myself using this phone until it is dead.
I know there are people who upgrade to the latest and greatest every time something new comes out, but the average person does not. So, will you upgrade to what ever comes out next , and if so, why? Or will you keep your phone for a while?
For those who will upgrade, what would you like to see in the next phone that the S3 does not already have? Coffee maker? Juice squeezer? Clothes Iron? Hamburger maker? Nail polish applier?
Ian

Depending on the design of the next Google Nexus phone, I'll be getting that.
Most likely it will be a Motorola product
It will be obsolete in 15 months. Trust me.
When the S2 was released, about 1 and a half years ago, people said the same thing: it'd the "the phone" for years to come. Now that I've had my S3 for about the same time as you, I look at my old S2 (that I gave to my wife) and think how was I able to use such a tiny screen!
The thing is: our expectations will shift upwards, new technologies will emerge and things we don't even know that exist today are things that a couple years from now we won't be able to live without.
I refrain my self from saying "this will be my phone for xx years", because I am a tech addict, a gadget junkie! I remember clearly that a couple weeks before the release of the S3 I wrote in the XDA S2 forums that I wouldn't spend a dime on moving from my S2 to the S3... until I held it in my hands! I wrote that there is nothing in the S3 that I couldn't have from the S2.... how wrong was I ?

Exactly the same with me
If they make a phone with
- no wake up lag
- no physical home key
- 2 GB RAM
and leave everything else the same as SGS3, I'll buy it immediately.
Galaxy nexus would be a perfect phone for me if it has sd card slot and better SoC at least like s2, now when google put tegra 3 in nexus 7 which performs really well it's obvious that next nexus phone will be equipped like this or even better . So i'm 95% sure Nexus 4 or whatever it's called, will bey next one

Looking to upgrade to a phone with a medium sized screen

Hey gents, I am looking to upgrade from my Xperia Ray some time in January or February and I am hoping that some of you guys can help me in narrowing down the search. So I compiled a small list of wanted features.
WANTED
Medium sized screen (4.3 inches or smaller)
Enough RAM to support android 4.2 and further upgrades (2gb or 1gb)
Dual or quad core for multitasking
Android system
Reasonable price (below 400 euro) - preferably less expensive
Do you have any suggestions? I am pretty open to any OEM.

I think you misread my post I am looking for a phone with a 4.3 inch screen or smaller. I dislike the huge phones and thought that it looked completely ridiculous when I saw a guy with a Galaxy Note 2 in the metro today.
But the Nexus 4 could be a phone that made me go for an exception. I have had a sweet eye on this phone since the start of November. I am just a bit thrown off by the size of it. A screen with 4.7 inches is not possible to be operated with one hand for a guy with medium-small sized hands.

I thought about the Galaxy S2, but I recon it's a bit old a phone.

You could go for the Xperia S or the HTC One S.
I would go for the Nexus 4
Another one is the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini
or the Motorola Razr i
Okay just an overview:
Camera: Xperia S
Performance: Razr i, One S, Nexus 4
Updates: Nexus 4
Design: personal :good:

Hey gents, I am looking to upgrade from my Xperia Ray some time in January or February and I am hoping that some of you guys can help me in narrowing down the search. So I compiled a small list of wanted features.
WANTED
Medium sized screen (4.3 inches or smaller)
Enough RAM to support android 4.2 and further upgrades (2gb or 1gb)
Dual or quad core for multitasking
Android system
Reasonable price (below 400 euro) - preferably less expensive
Do you have any suggestions? I am pretty open to any OEM.

Xperia S ..
Nexus 4 FTW... Once u start using a larger screen , smaller ones will make u feel claustrophobic hehe

It is a revolutionary phone...
It has a very wide community support... Here on xda too...
It has great hardware and it's less bulky and lighter...
And it is among the first batch of devices to get Android 4.2 via devs... ...

Thanks a lot guys for all pf your answers!
I appreciate all your suggestions and I will consider all of them before I make any descisions.
The Nexus 4 is tempting, but I dont see it becoming nearly as cheap in Denmark as on Play Store anytime soon
Xperia S seems to be a nice phone, but it seems to be slippery because of the back and the shape. Also it looks a bit wierd with the huge attachment to the bottom.
Xperia ion I will have to look in to, because it has not crossed my mind earlier.
With regards to the S2: Xperia Ray has had 4.2 for 2 days now, I consider that pretty fast
nexus 4?
1 issue that bothering me is easily break on glass-back body.
ive read many post by other ppls on this issue.
if u stick with Sony, go X-ion. that the best for me now.
One-S is too expensive if comparing on same-spec phone. its better take sony X-S than one-s.
yes, i sent from my phone using Xda Premium, so what?
