Hey Guys, i have a Desire X with a o2 branding...
i thought its stock, because there no o2 apps or o2 stuff on the phone. so i rootet it with the toolkit and flash a custom rom, no problems at all.
now i decided to sell the device, so i thought it would be the best to make a clean & fresh install with the offical ruu.
start the ruu, bamm, cid error 131 -> so i figured out i have a branded device, my cid is O2___001
i reed that you can bypass the cid check by insert a goldcard in the phone.
i tried to creat a goldcard with the goldcardtool, it says "succed" but i get the same result, cid error 131
if i check the goldcard with a hex editor, it seems ok, line 00000 - 000170 are the same as in the goldcard.img
shuld i try another sd-card? i uses a 16gb and a 8gb, booth failed, ruu wont install.
i also tried to change the cid by editing /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 (here is the cid stored) but for this it seems that the device needs s-off..
i can write it with "dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p7 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7" no errors, but after checking it with fastboot getvar all, it still reads O2__001
any ideas how i can get away from this f***** o2 branding?
You probably can't do anything, but try to extract rom.zip from ruu, rename it to PM66IMG.zip, put it on root of sd card, restart phone to bootloder and when bootloader finds zip confirm the update.
i also tried this, but with the same results.. bootloader finds it, start, but wont finishing it.
is it possible to restore a nandroid backup from a stock desire x in cwm?

AW: [Q] Debranding Desire X --- pleas help me
You can flash this stock rom if you are rooted. Put it on your sd card and install it via cwm. Maybe also do a full wipe before flashing.

If you want to remove the branding you need S-OFF which isn't available for Desire X yet.

Do you have the ADB, fast boot and HTC drivers installed? You need it for the following:
Plug in your phone to your computer. Open CMD, and browse to your adb installation. E.g cd C:/Program Files/Android/android-sdk/platform-tools/
Then type adb getvar cid.
Remember that number. Find the appropriate radio for your CID number and flash that.

as per the instructions... i figured out my cid num which is cidnum: HTC__001...but i wonder that i was flashing the right radio version for my mobile ..... I will really appreciate if u explain it a little more,....

You said you are stuck in bootloader and cant unlock with HTC method to use a RUU.............
Thats good for you , as far as you dont need to be unlocked to use a RUU.exe.
If you unlock your phone via htcdev.com you cannot use RUU.

flashing radio
hello flashing radio's can be very tricky the file may have been corupt or youmay have flashed the wrong ruu and also where did you download this file i hope you flashed a PG86IMG.zip if you did go back to the thread that you downloaded from and make sure you that ruu is for your device and if it isnt that thread you downloaded from should have other ruu's that are for your device and make sure you read everything on that thread before downloading and flashing

flashing radio's
ok i see where you made your mistake dont use exe file's. you should be using PG86IMG.zip and all you had to do is copy it to the root folder of your sd card and power off and battery pull and put battery back in volume down and press power boots into bootloader and it will find the zip file and it prompt start update you press volume up for yes and set back and let it flash you new radio and when it is done delete it from the root folder of your sd card and enjoy

What you have is called a soft brick. The radio you flashed was not compatible with your phone. First remove your SD from your phone. Then put it in your pc/laptop via card reader and remove whatever zip you were trying to flash. Then you have to find the correct ruu that has a compatible radio and run it from your pc.

Hello friends,
One of my friends has got an HTC Amaze 4G from the US. The phone is already factory sim unlocked. He's given this phone to me because he wanted it to read and write Arabic letters and RTL in general.
I got this phone, what I've already done till I had the problem was, unlocking bootloader -> installing EXT4 -> got a patch from Hasoon2000 (Link to the original thread) -> EXT4 Recovery for wiping cache, dalvik and fixing permissions -> Flashed the Arabic Patch zip -> Wooops! the phone is stuck at the HTC screen.
I've searched the forums for an RUU to get the phone back and fix the soft brick. All what I found were RUUs for different carriers from CA and US (RUU collections thread)
Later on, I relocked the bootloader, downloaded this RUU
PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC _30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed.zip
Put it on an Ext SD card, went to fastboot bootloader, it started detecting the ZIP and finished showing this error "Incorrect Phone ID"
Then I downloaded this one (Asian RUU) too after some searching.
PH85IMG_Ruby_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.60.707.3_R_Radio_1.13.550L.13DC_30.69b.550L.101_release_253820_signed.zip
The fastboot detected it but ended up with going back to bootloader main menu without any prompts or errors.
Finally, I am clueless and came here to ask you for your help and suggestions to overcome this problem.
Notes:
-The phone is Factory Sim Unlocked and does not have any names of any carries burnt into it (Unbranded Phone).
-After finishing the process of unlocking bootloader, I saw the list of the languages selectable were English (Singapore), English (Pakistan), and other Asian languages and no US and EU languages were present (That's why I was trying to install the RUU of Asia)
-The phone is on Stock GB 2.3.4, stock kernel, and EXT4 Recovery.
Thanks all
Have you tried restoring a backup. Can you boot into the bootloader and recovery?. If so you just need to figure out why this device is unbranded. I never seen an amaze unbranded unless the digitizer was replaced at some point. Was this phone ics or gingerbread before it was tampered with?
Sent from my VLE_U using xda app-developers app
if by unbranded you mean the phone just has HTC and no other carrier lable on it then its most likely the Canadian version from Wind Mobile or Telus or Mobilicity. and as far as you downloading the RUUs have you renamed them to PH85IMG.zip before trying to flash them in bootloader? another easy way to find out what stock ruu you need is to check your HBOOT version on the boot loader so you can see what stock RUU's are compatible with it

Unfortunately, I have not taken any backup, as I assumed at first that the process is quite simpler (which is already is). I already ran at much harder work than this one with ios, symbian, bada, and android.
Yes, I can boot into the bootloader and recovery.
I neither know the reason for unbranding the device.
It was Stock Gingerbread 2.3.4
Thank you for your appreciated time and help.

I'd wait for a 2nd opinion to be sure, but the HBOOT looks like mine did on Gingerbread which is a US T-Mobile brand.
I'd also wait to get a working RUU on it before doing S-Off and super cid. But, once you do both, you'll be able to flash any carrier's RUU.

Thank you Wolf.
Just figured out why the Asian RUU did not get flashed in the bootloader, as the package contains 4 bad files (CRC errors); you can see the 4 files in the attached screenshot.
One guy also had those bad crc errors before, Thread.
Therefore, the only solution to my problem is to s-off and supercid to get another RUU from other carriers to work.
The question is, is there anyway to s-off the phone from the bootloader?
Because the JuopunutBear method requires the phone to be on (operating normally), USB Debugging on, and fast boot off from power options.
Hope someone helps me.
Thanks all
EDIT: Just finished downloading the ruu from another mirror, Winrar does not show any errors!
will transfer it to SD, and retry.
wish me luck guys.

I recently bought a htc one x plus and as the person as i am, i quickly unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery (ClockworkMod recovery) and kernel. But then i tried to flash a AOKP Jelly Bean 4.2.1 Custom ROM and after flashing it, it would just hang around the AOKP boot logo (a horse head with rotating rings around it). Then, without thinking, i relocked the bootloader (with a custom rom) to send it for warranty. Now, it would only go to the bootloader screen. After going through a few forums, i found out that this could be repaired by using the correct ruu for my device but they all say that i have to flash a stock recovery and boot.img before relocking the bootloader in order for the ruu to work. So my question is can i reunlock my bootloader to flash the stock recovery and boot.img without bricking the device and can flashing the correct ruu repair my phone. Please reply, i'm so desperate. The htc guys wanted me to pay $400 just to repair it and since i rooted the phone, warranty does not cover it.

You can unlock the boot again if you kept the code you received when you did it the 1st time round. Once you have unlocked it you can then flash any Rom. Did you make a nand backup before installing the custom Rom? If you did you can reinstall the custom recovery and restore the phone to stock.
I currently run the viper 3.4.2 rom, you could also install this after installing the custom recovery.

Hi Sharveen,
Please do youself a favor, and don't use the CWM Recovery, this Recovery is not adapted for this phone, I strongly suggest that you install TWRP Recovery, the latter is way more complete and rigorously tested on the HTC One X+.
TIP : Please read, read, read as much as you can before doing any changes to your phone, that can save you lots of problem.
First make sure your SDK tool (adb) is correctly installed and also the HTC's drivers. (There is a link for a tutorial in my signature.)
Download the correspondent recovery for your phone International OR AT&T/Telus (N.B. Links are available in the Sticky FAQ)
Flash the Recovery.
Clear Cache
Reboot in Recovery
DO A COMPLETE BACKUP OF YOUR ACTUAL ROM. BE SURE TO KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE
Install your correspondent version of any ROM.zip you want that is already on your storage. (Otherwise,Sideload a ROM to be able to flash one inRecovery)
Flash the boot.img of your desired ROM
Clear Cache Again
Reboot
Should work
Thank you soo much for replying and no, i did not make a nandroid backup when i tried to flash the rom. So can flashing a correct ruu repair my phone and hopefully get it back to stock rom...

If you want to flash a RUU you need to install the original Recovery then flashing the correspondent RUU. Just let us know what is your preference, but as far as I am concern, your original backup wasn't made too bad, but you can still install a modded ROM.
This is gonna be your call for the continuity.

You could try searching the forum to see if someone has a nand backup for your phone. Only problem with ruu's is they haven't released the more up to date ones, so if your phone had the latest ota I doubt you will be able to use the ruu method. Personally I would use a custom Rom until you can find a nand for your phone.

The original recovery will be contained in the %temp% folder created by the ruu when opened but do i have to flash the boot.img which is also contained in the folder and also most of the forums says that you have to flash the boot.img after flashing the recovery while some says that you could relock the bootloader and flash the ruu after flashing the recovery only. So in my situation, do i have to flash the boot.img or not.

in TWRP recovery mode I restored Nandriod backup files and flashed MissingGoogleApps.zip successfully. But when I tried to flash STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip its failed. i extract recovery.img file from this zip. Then in fastboot mode I flashed this recovery.img file.
Then again I relocked the phone and rebooted. Now phone is started with my stock ROM.
Getting official JB update
here I followed below procedure.
1. Unlock Bootloader.
2. Flash Stock Recovery : Tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...26&postcount=2
Use the stock recovery.img attached here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...20&postcount=1
3. Recheck for Software Update and Download the update.
again i relocked the phone and applied the update.
Now everything ok.

Nobody ever say that STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip is to be flash in recovery.. that is an installer for user who is not familiar with ADB command... it is to be extracted on PC then run the installer batch file after your DX is connected to PC in fastboot mode

which methode?
Now this one is the exe method.
1. Download your device specific RUU from this sticky thread or Google for it.
2. Run the RUU and when its de-compressed and asks you to press next, just stop there (Don't close this window and dont press next).
3. Go to the "temp" folder on your PC. If you are on Windows 7 its located in "C:\Users\{Your_User_Name}\AppData\Local\Temp" and on Windows XP its in "C:\Documents and Settings\{Your_User_Name}\Applications Data\Local Settings\Temp"
4. Use the windows search function in "Temp" folder or dig deep into sub folders to find "rom.zip" file. It'll be around ~250MB in size.
5. Copy this file and paste it somewhere else on your PC e.g. desktop.
6. Rename this "rom.zip" file to "PG85IMG.zip"
7. Now take your SD card from Phone and connect it to your PC using a card reader or some other phone.
8. Paste that renamed "PG85IMG.zip" at the root of your SD Card.
9. Now power off your phone. Pull out the battery.
10. Insert the SD Card back in the phone. Insert the battery.
11. Now hold your volume down key and press power button. Keep the volume down key pressed. It will start your phone in boot-loader menu.
12. Select FASTBOOT if its not already selected and press power button.
13.It will search your SD Card for files and will find "PG85IMG.zip" file and will ask if you want to update.
14. Press the volume up button as instructed to continue and then sit back and relax.
Once finished it will ask you to reboot. Once rebooted, you'll be back on stock ROM with S-On.
Delete the "PG85IMG.zip" from SD Card now.
To verify S-On reboot into bootloader again (Step 11) and on the very first line it will say S-On or S-Off

for flashing PG85IMG.zip my phone must be locked or unlock?
To flash back to stock you need to relock the bootloader and make sure you're using the correct image for your device and carrier. S-on or s-off doesn't matter. For example, trying to flash a T-Mobile image won't work. In one of the pinned threads in one of the forums here is a link to the stock images for different carriers. If you can't find it do a search, but I'm pretty sure they can also be found in the Amaze Bible page or in the Amaze Wiki.
Once relocked all you have to do is rename the image and flash from your SD-card in hboot. If it fails to flash you're probably using the wrong image or you're still unlocked. Once you've relocked the bootloader it will say relocked. If the image is from a different carrier it won't work either. Again just make sure the image you're trying to flash is from the carrier that originally sold the phone. Then you should have no problems returning to stock.
i relocked it and went to hboot page
it says
Loading .....[ph85img.zip] then
Checking....[ph85img.zip]
after side bar fulls says "hboot version is older !"
update fail!
press power to reboot
can u plz find me suitable ruu for my phone i tried anything!

So... I asked similar questions a month or so back about Telus.
I can't successfully rollback to the gb ruu or the ics ruu. The ics ruu is an ota which appears to need an gb install.
Pure stock tmous ruu check for tmous cid and fails when it finds the Telus cid.
Finally installed arhd 4 and s-off tool ran without error. I could then flash radio and hboot
