From freexperia to CWM. - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Dear all,
I have a x10 mini,
With latest flashtool i rooted it, unlocked the bootloader and installed freexperia recovery 001.
Now i have to install cwm.
According to this
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105745
I have to flash the cwm-amend.zip
How is this flashing to be done? Using flashtool or freexperia recovery?
Last question:
I downloaded nAa gb kernel 14.
I know I have to flash this via flashtool, but it's a zip file, not a ftf .
Can I just change the extension of it??
Thanx

Yes, just rename the zip to .ftf and put it in the firmwares folder, once you've lfashed it you have CWM too, it's included in the kernel, so you won't have to worry about the other thing

R: From freexperia to CWM.
Thanks
just a doubt : I did a backup with freexperia (four img files: data, cache, nandroid and system)..
If I flash naa's gb kernel and cwm
will I be able to restore those freexperia img files under cwm? will the old Sony kernel take the place of naa's??

You can restore it, but it won't put the old kernel back, so you could get a stock kernel from somewhere (to flash after you've restored the backup), or go back to stock, root, install recovery again and then restore the backup.

ROM problem

I have a week trying to install a new ROM to my phone (xperia mini pro). I follow the instructions, install the recommended kernel for each Rom. When i finish installing the ROM i reboot the phone put the kernel logo and don't do anything else (the last time i let it in the kernel logo for 10 hours and it didn't work).
I fix it using Wotan server. But what i really care about is that i want to prove new Rom, so if someone can help me i will be really thankful.
PS: Sorry if you think my english is bad, is because my main language is not english

Hello,
I'm having the same problem, I don't get it at all. I bought my Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) yesterday and so far I have been only able to flash stock rom and MiniCMSandwich AOSP Android 4.0.4 RC3, both of which work fine.
With all other roms I get stuck on the logo (depending on kernel - Sony, Sony Ericsson or Free Xperia logo). I do full wipe, dalvik cache etc. but nothing helps.
So far I tried: FXP 117 7.2.0, FXP 117 9.0.0 and XROM™ ICS RC7.
I tried different basebands, flashing in different order etc., no matter what I get stuck on the logo.
Could someone post a detailed step-by-step instruction how to flash either FXP or the XROM on the Mini Pro? Which baseband should I use (and how do I know it's the baseband's fault when the rom doesn't work), what about Wi-Fi etc.
I flashed Galaxy S+ (I9001) before and didn't have any of these issues.

guide for installing cm7 is on original thread

I do exactly as it says. I had to flash stock rom before that, because update zip wouldn't work if I started from AOSP (or if I wanted to apply it after flashing FXP)
BTW, do I really have to flash stock ftf (kernel+baseband), which overwrites my CWM each time I want to flash FXP? I hate losing CWM.
Anyway, I did this:
1. I put the update.zip on the sdcard
2. I flashed the boot.img I unpacked from the update.zip using fastboot (went fine)
3. I applied update.zip using CWM
4. I did factory reset from CWM and wiped dalvik cache
After reboot - it hangs on the Free Xperia logo. I also tried flashing Rage kernel 2.8 with the same result. Oh, and does it matter if I flash kernel before or after the rom?

rage kernel is not compatible with cm7,
mostly kernel is flashed before the rom, but either way should work i guess..

That's because for some stupid reason you formatted the system partition, which must not be done on some ROM installations.
The CM7 installation requires info from the system folder, but since you formatted it, you don't have the info on your phone and installation cannot be installed.
Reinstall stock firmware, follow the same procedure, but do NOT format system, but do make factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Well, I was asked to try formatting /system.
Ok, again then. BTW, is there a pre-rooted .62 stock rom somewhere? I only see .69, which isn't good AFAIK.

ok so i did the same (did not flash kernel).................but now after flashing the .431 kernel via flashtool it is still not happening......it wont go past the sony logo..........when i try with SEUS it says i already have the latest software installed...........please help.
Flash whole stock firmware with flashtool so you are able to boot phone.
Then when you will know the right steps, put rom .zip into sd, flash the right kernel and finally install rom via cwm following dev's instructions.
To flash a custom kernel you need unlocked bootloader.

I happened to soft-brick my Neo V few days back after installing a custom ROM. Please read on to see what helped me get my Neo V up and running again.
If your phone is stuck at SONY logo, I doubt it will go into CWM recovery mode either. I had tried flashing stock kernel through Flashtool, and also tried the FOTA-Unbrick method via flashtool, but even that didn't help. Finally, I used the "repair" option in PC Companion which flashed Stock ICS ROM on my Neo V (however, all data on phone's internal memory was lost and my phone had to e rooted again). But at least my phone was recovered. Hope this will guide you.

Please read carefully :
U have to have a rooted and bootloader unlocked in phone to flash ROMs (OBVIOUS )
1)Copy the contents to your SDCARD of phone (ROM ZIP File + gapps ZIP)
2) Extract only the boot.img from the ROM zip to some location in your PC
3) Use Flashtool to flash the boot.img (FIRST THING TO DO)
3.a) Select Fastboot mode from flashtool
3.b) While the phone is connected, Click Fastboot phone using ADB.(Phone will restart and blue led will glow showing its in fast boot mode)
3.c) Now select the option, select kernel to flash in the window and chose the boot.img that is in the PC.
Now the flashtool automatically flashes the boot.img(which has the kernel included).
Unplug from PC and try to reboot.. On booting enter CWM mode and flash the ZIP already placed in the SDCARD(Ensure to follow the appropriate post to follow steps like clearing cache\Dalvik and system etc..).
HAPPY FLASHING

[Q] CM 9.1 haida - Neo V stock rom(GB) problem

Hello, i'm new here , i have already done some searching but i didnt found any direct solution for my problem.
Phone Information;
My Phone: Neo V 2.3.6 Gingerbread
*Rooted [17 months ago]
*Installed CWM (ver 5.0.XX) via flashtool [14 months ago]
*Created a full backup via CWM [6 days ago]
*Unlocked Bootloader Officially [4 days ago]
*I downloaded CM 9.1 haida.zip, copied the zip into my SD card, and copied boot.img to pc, after that i flashed the boot.img to my phone in fastboot mode.
*Plugged off the USB cable and switch on my phone, I pressed volume down to get into CWM, now it shows CWM Ver 6.XXX, I wiped all data/reset, as what i have read before installing custom rom, then i go to install zip from SD card, found the CM 9.1 haida.zip and installed it successfully. [note: I did not do backup because i remember i had done a backup before with CWM ver 5.0.XXX]
*Rebooted the phone and viola i'm now in CM 9.1
Problem;
I want to go back to previous stock rom and with the backup[2.3.6 rooted and unlocked bootloader stock rom] still in the SD card i go into CWM mode and i did reset and wipe all data, then i go to backup and restore, restored it successfully but when i boot up the phone, it shows only the Free Xperia Project at all.
I dont have idea on how to restore the backup again so that i can use previous stock rom again. This make me think if i previously make boot.img for the current stock rom with all data in zip, and save to another pc, i wouldnt be in this problem. because i can flash it at anytime i want. But now i only have the backup from previous CWM 5.0.xxx, not the current CWM 6.xx.xxx.
I have downloaded two stock rom for Neo V uploaded by some people here to mediafire but, i'm not sure if i can restore the backup to it, because the backup included my rooted settings, clockworkmod, etc.
So the question is I WANT THE BACKUP TO BE RESTORED, no matter what version 2.3.6 or 2.3.1 etc because i need some important data and contacts inside of it. Anyone willing to help me? thanks
p/s; Does the Backup contain boot.img for installation?:fingers-crossed:

Yes the issue is due to boot.img not been backed up... And the gb rom can't boot on a fxp kernel... You can try flashing a gb kernel like night elf and restore backup... Or reflash stock gb rom... Root install cwm and restore the backup...

Thanks for the reply, i will try it soon.I think stock gb rom are more safe to try, just the small work to root and cwm only. I hope the backup will be accepted by the system but i guess i will face some kind of error like MD5 mismatch error, but its okay i know how to face that problem. Will post the progress soon.

Finally, i got it to work again!
With Trial and Error attempt because the battery charge is empty and i had to connect/disconnect the USB cable many times until the blue led [fastboot] comes out.
Flashed Night Elf kernel and installed the backup successfully
Big thanks to you guys for the help.
Try doing this use flashtool and flash stock gb ftf file you will find the link searching the forum after flashing that boot into cwm and then restore your backup on that and all done !!

[Q] installing new kernel without installing new rom

Hi, I know maybe it's a noob question, but I have installed cyanogenmod 9 in my Sony Live Walkman, and the kernel that comes with it.
Can I install a new kernel (like rage kernel) without having to install the rom (CM9) again? It will work just replacing the kernel?
Thanks!!!

in recovery choose install zip from sd card, then choose zip from sd card. After that you can select your kernel and flash it
Press thanks if I helped you
if you've got the kernel in zip format, ready to be flashed, then go ahead in cwm and flash it.
But if you don't have it in zip format, then you'll have to make one for yourself.
For that, you'll need to extract the zlimage from your kernel and replace it with the zlmage from your cm9 kernel, not forgetting to recompile the kernel. make a flashable zip, or download one, and flash it.
