GSM or CDMA?
It sounds like you need to upgrade your radios.

You will need to upgrade your radios to run PAC man or cm10.

Hello,
I am trying to get viperROM to work correctly on my Evo 3D. I would have posted in that thread but I don't have 10 posts yet so I'm not allowed...
I wasn't thinking and I accepted the OTA update when it came out.
So I used this tutorial and did the HTC unlock and then flashed CWM 4.0.1.4 to my phone.
I used CWM to back up my stock ROM, then I used it to install viperROM.
Well, it worked except for the fact that the WiFi wouldn't turn on. It just said "Error".
I have been reading these forums for hours now and my eyes are glazing over but I figure it's something to do with the radio I guess?
I tried to do some forum searches but the search function is apparently down for nightly maintenance.
Anyways, I restored my backup and thank God WiFi is working again.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to fixing this?
Thanks.
Did you do a full wipe before you installed viperRom?
I don't believe you can use Viperrom on your phone because it is a 2.3.3 rom and your kernel is only for 2.3.4 roms. When you took the OTA and your phone upgraded to the 1.50 bootloader you lost the ability to install kernels and write to the boot partition. With out the proper kernel you will have problems running any 2.3.3 roms properly. Look for a rom that is already upgraded to 2.3.4 and give that a try. For now I would flash back to stock and wait for Viperboy to update his rom.
help please?
I try RCMIX 2.2.3 and recover HTC Rom but stcuk boot HTC logo.
Can i replaces viperROM ? how i can?
I'm Newbie.
Thanks

Same issue was there when i flashed Roms using KS (tried CNA,CM9) and tried MUI Rom also still not use. But i was able to use it on stock RoM
If you are getting the force close upon the phone starting resulting in no service, this is normal with the ICS based roms. The last rebase joker did was on version 3.1. Installing anything after that only once will cause this issue. You can do one of three things to remedy this...
1: Use the Kitchen Sink Rom
2: Flash .3.1 first, then the latest version.
3: Flash the latest version, then immediately flash it again. Then install your gapps.
Also, make sure you have Jokers CWM.
Same issue
I was having the same issue, except right when my phone booted up it kept giving me the message that android.process.phone has stopped working, and it wouldn't let me connect to the mobile data network either.

thanks got it.
I just spent the last 6 hours figuring this out and go figure it would be in the Q&A section... Did a fresh stock flash, factory wipe, format cache, dalvik and system. Installed .3.1. Then ONLY wiped the dalvik cache and upgraded to the 6.1 i would stop getting the com.android.phone FC. If i did the factory wipe it would start FCing again.
cdma
akhilesh can you tell me how did you make the cdma work intially on your photon i tried all the methods told by farookhjii and it didnt work

Yeah, if you had searched the AOKP thread you would have found that this was an issue with Th3Bill's first release of the MS1 AOKP rom. you have to nandroid back to your last version of AOKP (always backup before flashing a new rom) and then re-install the NEW version he has up on GOO.

Will it work if I flash the older version, since I don't have a backup of this specific rom, and then flash the newer one on top of that?
And which older version should I use?
If you flash an older version it will still have the borked radios. I think the only option you have at this point is to flash back to stock and start over.

You don't need to go back to stock. Just flash the new rom that works. The updated rom is great. Use SMS Backup so you can keep your txt messages.

Hello All,
I have an EVO 3D with HBoot 1.58. I rooted via HTCDEV and flashed a new rom. The ROM booted but things didn't work, so I downloaded some other ROMS and found that they are locking up after the intro screen.
I installed GOOManager and upgraded to TWRP 2.3.3.0 so that I can try to improve my flashing but I had the same result.
I have tried the following ROMS all with the same results:
Viper3D_17Oct12_0707_r192_s
Unofficial AOKP JB v3.5
MIUI_3.1.18_SHOOTER_JB_DH
When I use Cool-ICS-v10-EvoC it works and passes the boot screen, but WiFi doesn't work as well as some other things.
When I flash I follow these steps:
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Factory Reset
Then I install the ROM and the gapps.
I get the Intro Video and it doesnt move beyond that.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Is there a stable ROM anyone can suggest?
Any stable Jelly Bean ROM's ?
Also, does anyone have a stock ROM image for RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1.09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed ?
Thanks!
some help

Hello, I can't say for sure, but only a few ROM's worked with HBoot 1.57. I'd suggest an eng hboot also you need s-off for a lot of roms to function correctly. I use NegaLite and LightsOut. LightsOut is very stable for me. The cm10.1 Jellybean is a good cross of stable and featureful, but evervolv is very stable and king kang is the most featured. As far as RUU's i'm sorry I don't know.

You can't flash JB roms without downgrading your hboot, for the love of god people read more.
Get s-off and downgrade your hboot. The info is everywhere, In fact, The OP of the roms you downloaded say , YOU CANNOT FLASH THIS IF YOUR S-ON or something to that degree.
Quit screwing up your phone and read.
And why don't you just google this " RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1 .09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed"
And add the word "download".
and the jellybean roms are stable, if you fir the requirements.

For the links I had utilized I didn't see anyting about the HBoot, after my post in reading another site's reviews of ROM's they mentioned on one of the rom's I used that it didn't work with 1.58.
Will try the S-off for a couple and see if that helps.
Thanks!
Okay so I've had the issue with sms on non sense 5 based roms before . I took the its to give it a shot and see if the new radio/firmware base would help. I'm still s-off, unlocked, supercid and have twrp. If I try and install any custom Rom it'll start then crash and say failed to write metadata. Is that due to it being the 4.4.2 firmware? And should I go back to 4.2.2 and try the New radio to see if sms works? Just curious cause I'd like to keep the 4.4.2 base if possible just wondering if anyone has had roms work

That error is due to using an old recovery that is not compatible with kitkat based rom installer scripts.
Update your recovery...
Okay I'm using the newest twrp beta right now.
So never mind. I must have not payed any attention when I reflashed recovery I put 2.6 not 2.7. Thank you though

No. If you currently have that issue (like I do) updating to 4.09 does not fix it. At least for the Sense 6 rom I tested after updating. I haven't tested any of the custom 4.4.2 Sense 5.5 roms yet.
Yeah same here. I'm gonna try 5.5 ones today and report back
