So I bought this unit from Craigslist, worked great. Key word- worked. Anyways, The unit will not power on and I think it has to do with a stupid move of some idiot thinking to plug it into a roku- just to see what would happen (me). I have a friend of mine who has a cell phone shop and has the jtag riff box, and I can easily download the android 4.0. But I dont know where the pinout is- and theres nothing online Ive been looking for a month. On the underside there is three golden dots where I believe the cpu is on the other side. one is labeled RX another TX the other isnt labeled. This looked like my best bet but Im scared to do anymore damage. I really appreciate any help and my email is [email protected]

May be this can help. I am trying to find out how to resurrect my bricked Eris. Like you said what's there to loose, right?! This may be a start.
See the attached file. I will be able to post links later.

Until we get more in stock, there is a vendor in Hongkong selling them very cheaply on ebay.
Shipping is free but takes 2-3 weeks from China. The cables do work, we bought one to test and compare to ours, but are not full 5 pin cables and are not fully shielded. They are also only 2.5 ft. Opposed to 6 ft. I wish they were widely available and cheap as they should be for such a simple but critically valuable tool, but they arent. As more devices with non removable batteries become increasingly prevalent, perhaps that will change.

But the very first thing you need to do is you need to know chinese
Go into your local wireless store and ask if they have an extra one they can give you or sell. Thats what I did and got it for free.
Phone so sharp, I sliced myself.
Ye i seen the ebay 1 but its more like 5-6weeks as they wait for 3 business days to make sure payment clears then 20-25 working days for uk deliv. still ordered but tbh im pretty impatient. Hence if any 1 was able to make me a working 1/sell me theirs asap n wer from uk i wud defo buy n pay more!
Also wireless store? Sorry from uk so what store should i look out for? or am i just being a blonde here n that is in the uk? Lol
Appreciate the responses!! Thanx guys

I too am on the hunt for one of these cables... I live in Canada, but have a PO box in Blaine Wa, if you would be kind enough to lend it to me, I would pay for shipping back to you with insurance and a tracking number, I am willing to pay a rental fee if you want it.
Once I get the cable, I could refund the cost of a fed ex or USPS express envelope to you via paypal... we could use the traders feedback as an incentive...
I am missing my phone...

Lots of them on sale for about $9. Order one and keep it with you at all times.
Hello dear XDA-Community,
The idea of this thread was to serve as an un bricking thread eventually,
I am looking into a riffbox for jtag service, I am approaching xda to see if any users would be interested in helping me cover the cost of said riffbox
if you were to donate towards the cause in return you would receive free unbrick service and jtag service for all your devices as long as the riffbox supports the CPU architecture
If this is of no interested not a big deal i just thought i would give the community a chance to get involved rather than keeping all the cool toys at my house and not sharing
This thread will be the hub for service requests. If you happen to need unbrick service, you will find this thread and us to help you.
I will post a log of all payments made from that money plus all Items received (e.g. the RIFF Box, the cables, Jigs, etc.)
I will also keep an online "work and ticket tracker" so that you can see live reports /pictures of the status of your repairs
now your like ok i didnt donate to help you buy this thingamabobber now i bricked my phone and i dont wanna pay some dude on ebay 60$ to fix it
cool find me post in the thread if your device is supported we can get it unbricked
Please remember i am one man and do have a child so im not planning to support 43000000x users but i dont think it would be bad to offer service to RC's RD's and senior members of xda for no cost of labor just get the unit here and ill jtag it up
RIFF Box - US $155.00 + Shipping
JIG Connector - negligible i have a variable temp soldering station so i could solder to the board direct at low heat
Updates / Facts / News:
Some things you might see around the thread
Hope this is gonna be very very educational for people too. Unbricking always is some sort of a mystery for many and if you send off your phone to some stranger on ebay, you usually don't get an idea about the "Hands On" and gettin' dirty bit of tearing down a phone and actually make it look nice and work properly again afterwards.
So, maybe we will even have some photos or videos and stuff and just give you an idea of how that all works...
Please ask your questions
and if your located in the USA and close to me for XDA active members I will always do what I can to help out as XDA has always helped me out
I am not trying to sell jtag service at all guys im saying if we can get me a riffbox ill give xda senior members RD's RC's RT's mods and members with over a 300 post count free jtag service
Sounds like a great idea are you thinking of just doing any amount contributions from people or set amounts ?

Is jtag really a viable option, considering how difficult the One is to disassemble?

if someone donates ill keep tabs of them and put it against the total cost of the jtag box
so if john doe donates 3$ and jane doe donates 137$ i will inform the thread the box has been ordered post pics and setup a way for you guys to request service / track service
i have 30$ right now of my own $$ to start it with

I took mine apart in 20 minutes its about as easy as an iphone 3gs to get apart once you get the front LCD warm and suctioned out (hehe that sounded bad)
it was way smoother and easier than i thought it would be to get apart much less prying and clips than previous HTC models
That's good to know. Side question for you since you successfully opened yours up- How easy would it be to fix the misaligned speaker pieces?

depends on the alignment cuz the speakers are part of the midframe section
i would have to see REALLY close pics of the issue to tell you wether or not i think it could be corrected without ordering new parts

Cool, thanks.
Do we know that this jtag box can get s-off?
it supports the onboard SOC of the One just gotta get the program to get the pinouts
or find pinouts on a board with the probing tool in the jtag machine
then its simple and quick

I will donate. How much are you thinking?
I'm in. I'd gladly donate to a dev for something like this.
I was considering paying mobile tech for S-off but would rather go this route.

The jtag box was ordered I'm looking for a cheap place to order a bag of jigs from so I can support all phones
If you require service and have over a 300 post count I can set it up once the box arrives but those who donated for the box are already in line

I will need to type it up in the meantime YouTube jtag
//edit
@tjsooley
It will require a teardown of the unit, (I am not some kid doing this for the first time I worked 2 years at a mobile repair shop as lead technician and am well experienced) once the board is removed the JTAG unit will be attached in the proper points
Then essentially the jtag unit acts as the device in the factory that programs the chips. So I can program whatever I want on there like S-Off SuperCID etc
Then button up the unit ensure all is well (sealed up etc) pass to second eyes for inspection then send back to you
