May be this can help. I am trying to find out how to resurrect my bricked Eris. Like you said what's there to loose, right?! This may be a start.
See the attached file. I will be able to post links later.

so yeah I was dreading the day this would come...my brother drooped the phone and the digitizer broke, luckly, everything works fine with the phone even the touch screen, i just need to replace the crumbling glass..
So I ask you fellow XDAers
where and how do i get these screens for the best price, PLUS a good guide on how to take the phone apart and then BACK together
thank you guys very much!
Cheers!
NEW TOUCH SCREEN GLASS Digitizer Motorola AT&T Atrix 4G
and there is a guide here on XDA on replacing the screen. just search for it.
Thanks m8

Yeah I saw the tear down before, however i feel like there are 2 many steps to just remove the screen...youtube vids show less steps its all very confusing..
ALSO putting it all back together is my main issue tbh..
hmm yeah sorry i cant find the link either but i know i had seen ti here before. anyways i found another one for you.

good luck. seems like alot of work.
Should be an easy fix since the screen isn't hot-glued or anything.
Gold luck.
Thank you guys!
Awesome to know that there are people that care
Cheers!
Hello..
as i post in a thread and some optimitic guys ( thanks for them) they just blocked any hope for me to fix my galaxy note which i think it is bricked...
( the story goes when i flashed a ROM and when i rebooted it stopped responding totally to anything )...
i searched at the internet about solutions and i read about USA JIG and i tried it but it didn't work but i'm not sure if i did it wrong or it doens't work for my phone.
i need a hope that will be fixed in any possible way before i take a dicision to dumb this one and buy new one.... i really don't want to hate samsung products. so this time i think i'll move into the HTC X ONE... but i really wish to be able to fix this one becuase i newly had it no more than one month. and it's not under any warrenty or insurance " as it doens't apply for my country "
if anyone can lead me to a way please let me know..
and thanks for your time.
don't open new threads...your other one was more than enough, now you've just cluttered the forum.
Yes it'll work, go back to your first thread I gave you a link to a trusted and reliable repair service. In fact this is a link to that post, just click anywhere here and it'll direct you to the post I'm referring to.

Yes we were and are optimistic but we all informed u that there was really nothing to do other then insurance or warranty. U tried to flash a from that went for international other then states or vice versa. Take our advice and try the options we stated in your last thread. Mods can we close this thread?

Dude, jtag will work.
And don't post in the thread for the mods to close it, it's not realistic to expect them to see every single post... That's what the report button is for, which has already been done...by me.

And the other one as well. . .
And I quote....
"I don't want to hate Samsung"
We'll then don't, hate yourself for not reading up & doing your homework. Hate yourself for listing pointless threads & for hoping someone will give you the fabled instant magical fix!

Hi,I was searching this forum for the answer but couldn't find anything on it but..I've hard bricked my G Note 1717 & I called ATT and told them it wouldn't turn on at all and they said they'll send me another one and I will have to send the Bricked one back within 10 days.Ok waht I would like to know is,is there a way to unbrick it with the new one they send..Like take it apart and use the hardware or something like that?
why would you bother trying to fix a bad one when they are supplying you with a replacement that works?
Why would you brick a phone and expect AT&T to replace it due to your mistake? Your warranty is voided. Man up. Pay to fix it. You are committing fraud. And on top of it all... Bragging about it on xda. People like you add to the cost of these phones. I hope they receive it and charge you back for it.

First of all discussing fraud is against the rules here on XDA, however, I have to say, I can't imagine why anyone would take a good phone and try to fix a bricked one they have to send back - you'll be charged by AT&T full price if you don't return the bricked one. Nothing to be gained here.
sup guys just got the jtag if anyone wants it please let me know you guys can pm me thanks

So I bought this unit from Craigslist, worked great. Key word- worked. Anyways, The unit will not power on and I think it has to do with a stupid move of some idiot thinking to plug it into a roku- just to see what would happen (me). I have a friend of mine who has a cell phone shop and has the jtag riff box, and I can easily download the android 4.0. But I dont know where the pinout is- and theres nothing online Ive been looking for a month. On the underside there is three golden dots where I believe the cpu is on the other side. one is labeled RX another TX the other isnt labeled. This looked like my best bet but Im scared to do anymore damage. I really appreciate any help and my email is [email protected]
Ok, so my last post was moved to a thread where it may die..lol
Anyway I have an android device (doesn't matter at this point which Android device it is) and it is bricked. There used to be a guy/company I could send a bricked device to and he could fix it and would send it back. I know this because I had a bricked device once and I used him to fix it long ago. I'm not sure if he is still in business or not, but I would love if anyone knew. I'm going through old email messages to try and find him but this was at least 3 years ago... Anyway, if anyone knows who I'm talking about I would love if you could post the info. =)

People here may help you to fix it by yourself, but what you're asking is like finding a guy in the planet ! How did this idea passed your mind that someone knows a guy who you used to repair your bricked device ? Is that guy world famous ?

haha yeah I know, but a couple/few years ago he was a bigger deal I guess. I had bricked a phone back then and someone sent me to his info.. I know it seems like finding a needle in the amount of 20 hay-stacks, but thought it was worth a try.
I'm still actively looking for a way to at least flash a rom to this, hoping it would take. I called both my carrier tech support and the maker of the device tech support, neither would support the device so I'm here talking to all of you and hoping....
I know who you are talking about but he was long ago banned. You will need a jtag box to recover the device. To be honest you will spend more getting it fixed ten you would getting a new device.

Yes. No device is truly completely dead as long as you have the right equipment and know how. You just have to remove the board and Jack into the mount points on the board with a jtag machine.

Well, I'm not sure how or why he was banned, but he basically fixed bricked phones. He fixed an old Galaxy S3 for me when I bricked it. Cost me like $60. He was fair and fast. That's all I know about the guy. Sorry
I can't get into why he got banned. If you search for unbricking some of the older Galaxy devices you will find him easy enough.
If you are interested you can look up if on Jtag systems. They are what people had to use before you could flash a device with a pc. They allow direct loading onto the board.

Jtag is quite difficult if you don't have experience, so taking it to a repair shop would be better
