Note 3... - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

6.3".....Holy NO WAY!!!
5.5 is a tab big. Not even considering a Note 3 at that size.

Source please? Also, I can't believe we've come to a point where phones are becoming this large. Can't believe the Galaxy S4 is going to be bigger and now the Note 3?! May as well crank up to 10.1 inch status and ditch the 7, 8, 9 inch screens.

Do a Google search you lazy bums.

This is my problem for waiting for the N3, if this is true. I think the 5.5" screen is the max for me, but I know everything this year will be 1080p. But 6.3" just seems like it is crossing a line of portability.

If it is borderless (the n2 has large border) I could sort of see how this might work but have my doubts. Then again it is currently a 'rumour' so maybe there are some errors in the rumour.

Also, a 16 MP camera seems like a lot for a phone.

That's probably not going to happen. I think that 5.5" is the sweet spot for a phablet. Anything more would just be unbearable.

Its probably just the mean streak in me, but if I saw someone walking past talking on a 6-7 inch tablet to their ear, I would stick my foot out.

I'm not! I love it. I had the Note 10.1. Android battery life is terrible on tablets. My ipad 4 can go almost a month on a charge.
16 hrs 43 mins use, 19 days standby... 20% battery left.

Maybe the phone can be rolled up for easy pocket storage. LMAO. Specs seem too good to be true. Guess we'll see.

[Q] Have A One X, But Want To Try A Note. Thoughts?

I'm pretty much on the fence of trying a Note. I was against the Phablet look in the beginning but I have pretty much tried every device that has made a mark on this forum and am thinking of giving it a go. Just looking for some opinions/thoughts on this.
Are there any advantages/disadvantages?
Do you think it's a even trade?
Thanks.
Sent from my HTC One XL
The note is a great phone. Really in a league of it's own. If you can find a trade it would be worth it. I wanted to try a one X but could not give up the few perks the note has over the hox.

Its not nearly as bad as you would think. You get use to the size in about a week. Then any other Phone feels like a little toy. One thing for sure, one you watch some videos on YouTube on the note, you'll never want to watch then on anything else.

Size. Great screen too. Overall a great work horse for a semi power user.
I use the spen for quick notes when I am in a call or a quick thought. Watch YouTube like a fiend on the huge screen. Also use it like any great new phone and stream music to 3 different BT devices. The battery life can be hit or miss at times but i have an extra battery and an 8100 maH battery pack to charge with.
I've thought about a nexus many times but can't let go of the note. Next phone will have to have at minimum the same size screen and probably be 1080p

I flop around. I had the iPhone than the Meizu, Galaxy Nexus and now the One X. I do use my phone all day for everything so I think the Note is ideal for that.
Do you guys think I'll be taking a major hit as far as the one x screen vs the note screen? Or is it user preference?

Get a used i717 Note cheap as you can, try it, then I think you might have a One x for sale. LOL. Far as the screen goes, I've never even held a One x in my hand mind you, if I had microscope eyes maybe.

Do you want to go for a note 1? It's a 1000 times better to go for note 2. I had been using htc 1x but did not like the idea of unlocking the bootloader stuff from htcdev. So sold it within 1week of purchase as I bought 2nd hand.
Note 2 is really nice if you can come to terms with the massive screen. Display of note 2 is better than 1. Htc one x screen is nicer but smaller.
Major difference is the battery which runs out for 1x within a day of moderate usage. Whereas note2 lives to almost 2.5 to 3 days.
1x overheating is a major pblm. Note 2 never clocks more than 32 deg but 1x shoots to almost 45 deg normally.

I think giving the note a try is a good idea. Battery life will be an adjustment. It seems I charge mine 2-3 times a day.
The screen and features more than make up for the battery deficiencies. I don't even over clock mine and it never lags. I'm using Padawan v6.2.
I am waiting for an update to JB. The point of having the Note is being able to use the SPen. As soon as we get some project butter goodness, well, what more could we need?

Maybe the 7100 is a tablet and the 5100 is a phone.
I hope its just a little brother to the 10.1 that I really wanted and never got because of its ridiculous price.

I guess being an artist, it only sounds logical to even consider buying a tablet if it has a pen to draw on. At least that's how I justify the money since my note can do all the work I need anyways. If they come out with a affordable GNote tablet I will buy it and then shift my phone to the next Nexus device after the Nexus 4. That way I can stay at the top of development for my phone rather then waiting forever for updates and at the same time have something to draw on. Honestly, the galaxy note is still too small for me to draw elaborate drawings on.
That picture is an I717 ....running GB 2.3.6
Probably a demo unit too....
Likely a 7 inch note would not be a phone ...g

My 7" Samsung tab is also a phone. It depends on the modem chipset.
I've read enough now that I believe that this new 5100 will be more of a tablet.
There have been rumors of a smaller version of the GNote 10.1 so this is most likely it.
if/when it comes out internationally.... it will have phone radios....and a green phone tile on the home row....

As the OP pointed out, it felt like a downgrade. The S4s screen is pretty nice but I found it ate through the battery pretty quick when it was on. The S4 dropped to 3g in places my Note would hold 4g. The S4 didn't seem as smooth as the Note with a rom on it. It just didn't feel worth the money.

There was a few flaws, but everybody feels different about things. U have 14 days to return it..just make sure u go to the corporate store,if not u have to pay an $80 restocking fee. I'm in a similar situation. I picked up the S4 Thursday, played with it for a day, and hated it. The camera was laggy (0.5-1 second shutter lag), the UI and apps themselves were laggy, it felt like I downgraded because of the smaller screen and the battery life was a lot worse. I went back to my Note 2 for the weekend and thought about returning the S4.
Then last night I decided to give the S4 another shot. I did a factory reset, installed my apps again (except I only installed what I REALLY used, which is about 60 apps), rooted, and froze/uninstalled a TON of apps and processes using Titanium Backup. After customizing it even more it's been much better in terms of performance and battery life. The screen is amazing on the S4, it's much brighter, whiter, no jagged edges on text (MBP > MBP Retina), easily viewable in sunlight, etc.
I thought back to when I first got my Note 2 and realized that the S4 is still brand new, when the Note 2 was new it was also laggy and full of bloatware. The S4 is only going to get better as OTA updates come out to fix these few minor issues, and once devs start to build solid ROM's it's going to be just as reliable as my Note 2 is on Beans 17.
I enjoy having a phone that I can actually fully use in one hand, fit in my pocket without being uncomfortable while sitting, and more importantly actually be able to fit it in cupholders!

But the note 2 wasn't laggy even with Verizon bloat and a ton of apps. I used it for a while stock, non rooted and it was just ask fact as it is on a custom Rom. I really feel like the snapdragon CPU's are just inferior to exynos. Plus it never gets hot.

Pretty much any time I use it. Unlocking it, opening any app, trying to toggle wifi. It will sometimes freeze for seconds at a time, and the app will usually FC. It's been super frustrating because I don't have any of those issues on the same nightly for my S4.

Probably i know what ur Problem is. Look up the new trim function of android 4.3. That will probably tackle ur Problem. Basically its sort of fragmentation of the memory. You may factory reset if the problem persists because toggling wifi is such a simple task it should never lag. Cm has no stable 4.3 Version yet. I recommend flaming monkey rom, its lean light and fast (basic aosp with some tweaks). You see the N10 still has the bleeding edge architecture with the A15. There are faster devices but only 2 others or so with that modern architecture

Hardware aside. I think the Nexus 10 is one ugly looking tablet. I hope the next one is better looking...

I know I'm causing a risky bump with this one, by I'd like to comment on how the nexus 7 is in fact created by Asus, and happens to be immensely more popular than the Nexus 10. I would question the validity of the notion that the New Nexus 10 will suck just because it's made by Asus.

The Nexus 7 is more popular because of its much lower price, not because of it's manufacturer.

When it comes to design, the N10 really received great remarks from the November 2012 reviewers.
The soft/grippy feeling plastic actually handles great and looks good. The subtly rounded corners and edges has a great feel, no sharp edges that bite into the hands after prolonged handling.
Gave my N7 to my spouse and use the N10 as my daily tab. Been using a friends Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition and it's real nice, but I still like the feel of the N10. Enough that I'm not rushing out to buy the 10.1 2014 edition at this time.

10,000 mAh battery? Might as well grab a brick and carry that around.

Nope I had the 9300mAh for the Note 2. It comes in handy when you're not close to a charger or when you're on road trips, vacations etc...

Its not that bad you get used to it pretty quick I had the note 2 ZL battery and it fit in my pocket and I was able to do anything just like anybody else except for longer

I'll be in on this. Can't beat 2+ days of battery life.
I can understand getting this, but the note 3 charges fast enough already so i don't think ill be getting this one

I'm only on my second battery cycle, so I think I'm just now really seeing the full capacity of the phone. I've been hammering on this phone for almost five hours and it's only down to 78%. My S4 would be around 30% or less by now. With a 10,000 mah battery it'll feel like you barely ever need to charge. :highfive:

The backing on these after market batteries is usually sub par. Zero lemon on the note II is a rubbery backing that probably feels like its going to pop right off.
That's not going to cut it.

I agree that the quality is not superb but this is still better than the rubber case for the note 2
I am stalking the ZeroLemon Facebook page and website daily! I am also extremely interested in the Zeroshock extended battery case.

Same here. I can get thru a day just fine. I just don't want to have to charge when I get home until it's time for me to go to sleep.

Well Note 3 has a really good battery life and there is not such any problem of battery drain in it as it usually occurs in S4....so I will not be going for this Zero Lemon battery product....I am satisfied with the battery response of my Note 3 and one more thing yes it charges fast too as compared to previous launch of Samsung.......
I'm definitely getting one of these batteries just because I'll be traveling soon and I might not have the option to recharge in a crunch.
I can already see the price being outrageous though!

Why would you think that? The Note 2 version was ~$40.
Because for some weird reason whatever phone I get and there's an extended battery for it that i need, the price is always over $60. I'm really hoping it's not the same with this one because I will need one

Definitively, Note 3 has a very good battery life but in case of long travel with no source of power, this Zerolemon will be a great help !
Thanks for the link !

I am going to get this for sure. Will be great when we go on road trips where I want to use my camera all the time or videos.
