[Q] Is it possible to change the Wifi Tethering Subnet? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've been skulking on XDA for a couple of years and never really needed to post as there's a great search function, however I can't find any info on the following, I hope this is the right forum for it:
When tethering to the wifi (which works a treat) I am assigned a 192.168.42.x/24 or 192.168.43.x/24 address - I really need to change this as it conflicts with one of our work subnets - is this possible?
I was looking for something like /etc/dhcpd.conf and I found a post somewhere relating to /data/data/android.tether but neither exist here :/
Can anyone help? Phone details below ..
Cheers
K

Since it is 2.2.1 wifi calling does not work yet. If needed you must use a 2.2 ROM.
Thanks man appreciate it

[Q] Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 (YP-G1) Questions

First of all, I am a big supporter of searching before posting. Trouble is, in my case, it seems that either I am using the wrong search string or my questions have not been answered. That said, before I post my questions, I want to apologize in advance for any re-posts on my part.
I have a few questions on changing/updating my Galaxy S WiFi 4.0. On the box was YP-G1CW/COO. Kies shows, as the current firmware, PDA:KE1 / CSC:KE1 (COO) and on the Galaxy info screen it says I have FROYO.XXKE1 for a build version.
1 - It appears that I successfully rooted it but when I try to install BusyBox, it shows that my 'System Storage' has 0.00B free. Did I do something wrong? How can I fix that?
2 - There is one app in particular (Pinger TextFree) that I want to get. According to Pinger, the app is available for Android but apparently, only in the US. Which leads me to my next question - Can I change the country code to a US country code? If so, how?
3 - I was also wondering about the GPS. It 'finds' my location (after about 5 minutes) but never (at least not in 40 minutes) gets the driving directions. Is there a 'fix' for that? Should I get a different GPS app? If so, which one would you recommend?
4 - Lastly, I have been reading a lot about the cons of upgrading from Froyo to Gingerbread. What are the pros? Would I be better off sticking with Froyo?
I am hopeful that someone out there will be able to provide me with a few answers.
Thanks in advance to everyone for your consideration.

2- use market enabler app to fake your country.
3- Gps works badly in low ride area... and you can use Gps fixer in market to download your location first before you use it.
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium

Tried Market Enabler...still dont see the app...I can see it online and it says my device is not compatible. I linked it with my Google account so when I log in it says the app is not compatible with my device. Since it is a non US device, I am looking for a way to "change" it. Any suggestions?
As for the GPS, although it takes longer to "find me", it does. What I was wondering about was how to 'make' it get the directions faster or at all. Since it is not a phone and doesnt have 3g, should i let it get the directions before I leave the WiFi area?
Thanks again...

[Q] Faceniff

Hi guys,
so i've recently downloaded installed and bought faceniff.
i really like the app, but i was wondering if there was a way to make it show the full password.
i've decompiled the apk, and i have looked at it for a while but i cant seem to make sense of it all. i have some experience in C++ and C, also PHP VB.NET etc but not in java.
has anyone looked into this ?
when the code is found it shouldn't be too much work, only thing i need help with is finding the code that puts the ***'s over the middle of the password.
many thanks,
ps. ofcourse i would release the apk (with buy option still enabled).
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I would just like to bump this. Its a reasonable question

[REQ] CM10 - dcaklam's MK4 Kernel, BT fix & Sound Fix?

I've been looking all over it's thread for half an hour and I couldn't find them. Can someone post a link to all three of them?
Using the search box instead of reading may save you some time, perhaps ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36497243&postcount=628
Thanks! May I ask what you searched on the forums to get that result? I tried searching "dcaklam mk4 kernel bt fix sound fix" but couldn't find the exact post you found. Just wanting to know how you searched it so I don't have to make a thread like this one.

Android 5+ Wifi Repeater / fqrouter2 alternative

Hi all,
I've been looking for quite some time now for a way to turn my phone into a Wifi repeater.
About a year ago I read somewhere about a chinese app called "fqrouter2", which is mainly
used as a vpn tunnel but also has a feature for rooted phones to host a hotspot while being
connected to another wifi network.
The last version of fqrouter2 was released more than a year ago and only supported up to
Android 2.3. While I found quite a few people saying on the Internet that it is possible
on a rooted phone to use the wifi modules for sending AND recieving at the same time,
I was not able to find any alternative app so far.
I have pretty much no programming skills, so I have no idea how hard it is to write such an app,
but I can't believe that I am the only person who wants such a feature for their phone, so maybe
there is something/someone out there which/who could help me?
Regards
Made an account just now to reply, plus xda is awesome.
I hope someone can figure this out, I to need this android 5.0
Bump.
No alternative?! Is this really the only App that can be used as a WiFi-Extender?!
bump.
did my monthly research, still couldnt find any new app/solution to turn my phone into a wifi repeater
Would be great to find an alternative in case this app ceased to update.

At the start i am getting an error,"XX-net exit unexpectedly"
And finally what is the name of your phone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in future.
