i bought a samsung gs3 on nov. 8th. couple days later heard about the dna (i don't know how i missed it). i have 14 days to return or exchange and what not. i went to the store a couple times asking about exchanging it for the dna since the preorder is available and the store date is nov. 21st putting me right in the window. first guy said he would have to find out how to do it since it was a new line also and would call me that day but never did call me. then tonight i went back and explained everything and she called him and he said oh you wouldn't like it, the gs3 is much nicer, and he got to play with it and the battery was awful, it would be a real headache for you to exchange it. i said i still wanted it and they said we checked the warehouse and they don't have any yet and we won't have them until the end of the month. saying things to convince me i don't want to do it.
this all sounds more like they just don't want to do it and don't what to end up with a return. i told them people have received shipping notifications, they replied with that's probably not what they meant, they wouldn't be shipping already.
is there a confirmed store date on these? i wanted one before just because i wanted one but now i want one with the added spite of sticking them with a return.
Everything I heard points to the 21st. Verizon said on their site that they will start shipping the DNA's on the 19th, and with the two day shipping they will also arrive on the 21st. You can exchange your phone until the 22nd, so you should be fine.
Yup, it's officially the 21st. I'm guessing they are getting paid more commission to sell off a lot of the GS3s before the DNAs start selling, or they lose it if you try to switch (or don't want to do the work).

I am thinking the same...I made an internet order this morning and it shipped out around noon for delivery on the 21st.
I certainly hope so. I'm planning on swinging around to my local store after work on Friday in hope that they'll have some on hand. The reps at my store don't know anything when it comes to dates except one guy, but he's hardly there anymore.
I can say that they showed up for store ordering today so you should be able to pick it up in a store soon... if I were you I would just return it to the gs3 to the store you got it from and then get it somewhere else since those guys are assholes...

I've confirmed with a few Verizon stores that they'll have them ready to go when they open Tomorrow (11/21) morning.

I have some stupid verizon stores in my area because none of them could give me an update and one lady didn't even know what it was.
WTF!!!
At the announcement of the DNA official spokesmen said it was being released on the 21st. There's no question it will be.
Threaten to cancel the line and return the S3. They will balk. Wife didn't like the I phone 4 when switching to Verizon, they wanted to charge a restock fee and told me how much she would hate android, blah blah, blah. Told them fine. Cancel the line, I'll return the phone, pay the fee and open a new line online through Amazon and get my phone through them since they were being difficult. Walked out of the store with the thunderbolt and didn't pay a dime extra (was a hundred more than iphone at the time). They don't want to lose commissions. Also, try to never shop at authorized dealers. Stick to corporate stores.

My local corporate store has no idea of shipments either, no clue the day before. I bet they had a whole pallet of them out back...
I'm sure the lady I called twice knows me by voice now.

They are BSing you Ask to talk to the store manager or supervisor. If they won't help call VZW customer service. They have always helped me..
i had no idea this place wasn't a corporate store. they only sell verizon and have nothing but verizon signs and whatnot. i got real hot when i found that out.
I second the "only shop at a corporate store". Seriously, only suckers wander into the "authorized retailers". You can spot them by looking at the signs. It'll say really small under the Giant Verizon banner like "USA wireless or GO wireless or John Doe wireless, Authorized Retailer". I've never stepped foot in one except when I needed a charger in an emergency. They charged me like $30. Yeah, screw them. The corporate stores can handle all customer service needs, and the staff is always more knowledgeable and helpful.
Authorized Retailers aren't always good with customer service or phone problems. I'd only use a select few places for getting a phone besides Verizon (Amazon, Best Buy, etc). There is a place near me that has no signs except "Verizon" with "Authorized Retailer" underneath. People probably don't realize they aren't the same as Verizon corporate stores.
I would return the phone and get the DNA from a corporate store.
Stopped by my local store today, and surprise, they told me they couldn't sell me a DNA because it would be off contract and they would only have enough for the new people to buy if they had any at all.

called my verizon store today and they said they had will have them tomorrow for sale, so I will just pick it up before work tomorrow. I honestly don't think they get shipment until evening the night before because I called earlier and she told me to call back in a few hours towards evening and then they will be sure if they will have them tomorrow. Called just now and they indeed said they will have them tomorrow.
---------- Post added at 02:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:13 AM ----------
Called another corporate store, both confirmed stock for me and the second one also confirmed they had them in stock and will sell them tomorrow. So you guys shouldn't have trouble getting them at your local corporate store.
after a short conversation with veriszon customer service got things worked out.
the gs3 had to be returned to the store i bought it at and that store would not be getting the phone on the 21st. to save my number verizon did a equipment swap and put my number on a old phone. then told me to return the phone and buy it at a corporate store on the 21st. i still get to buy it at the discounted price and keep my number,

Their greed is appalling.
I bought htc dna online from verizonwireless.com. When I called verizon customer service about returning this and getting a galaxy s3 I got 2 different answers
Rep1 : I have to ship this phone back. Wait until the phone goes back and then order a new phone online or in-store
Rep2: Goto the store and return htc and get samsung.
Do you all know who is right ?
If rep1 is right it looks like I will be without a phone for few days.
What is the best way to get a different phone and keep the same phone number.
Thanks
I don't see why you couldn't return it in store. I have bought accessories (never a phone, though) on the VZW site and returned them in store numerous times so why should a phone be any different?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW
both seem to be right. Go to the store so you can just exchange it on the spot rather than have to wait for it to reach them then get a new one.
Yeah you can bring back a phone you bought online to a brick and mortar. Just make sure its a corporate store and be prepared to pay a restocking fee that they probably won't waive. I've done it several times with no problem.

Who else picked up their Note II in a brick and mortar store? Did you get there before the store opened? Were a lot of people waiting for or discussing the phone?
I got to my local Verizon store a few minutes before it opened. There was already a guy waiting there, so I asked him if he was waiting for the same thing I was... and he was. We talked about the features for a bit and then got let into the store. I got the Titanium Grey model. The store manager did my transaction... when he went back to get the phone, he brought a small pile of cases and screen protectors for me to choose from. I told him I already had both... heh. The guy who was there before me shared emails with me and we tested S-Beam before we left the store. It was pretty cool. I'm surprised there weren't more people waiting for it, but I don't live in a huge town.

i personally had a system glitch when i was using my fiancé's line to upgrade on her line then to switch to my phone to keep my unlimited data. but in the middle of it all the system glitched and i was able to buy the phone on a discounted price without renewing my contract and keep my unlimited data. will be waiting a few weeks to see if my unlimited data drops and if it does they will put in a request to return it the way it was. cause i personally did not sign a new 2 year contract nor was i asked to.
and i was at the store at 11 am there was a older gent in his mid 60's buying one. lol and i bought it in one of the biggest stores in tampa.
I went to a Verizon Store in a BJ's. Guy there was a total jerk. I must have been the first customer since I got there about 10min after the store opened and he was turning on the phones. I exchanged my DNA and got my Note. I was so pissed about the guys attitude. (sighs, tone of voice, throwing my DNA box on the counter) I forgot to ask for a white Note so I'm stuck with a Titanium and I'm not paying $35 to exchange it for a white one.

verizon only allows 1 exchange.
Did you buy the DNA from the same store? If I get attitude, I just tell them to refund me and I'll go buy it online through a 3rd party vendor. That usually changes their attitude.

Yeah I bought the Note and DNA at the Verizon Kiosk at BJ's Wholesale Club. The only other corporate store around here is in the "hip" outdoor mall that is PACKED this time of year.
So since I returned my DNA for this Note, I couldn't exchange it for a white one even if I wanted to?

Probably not. They only allow 1 exchange by policy. Might be able to sweet talk them.
I arrived at my Verizon store at 11 and was able to get the white note 2. I was a little nervous on not being able to get it since the manager the day before told me they only had a total of 4 note 2s (2 grey, 2 white) and that around 70 people called into the store the past few days asking about the Note 2.
I bought my Note 2 outright so I can keep my unlimited data. Oh and there was also a Samsung rep in the store completely decked out in samsung gear with both a Note 2 and S3 in hand checking out the place and taking pictures on how the store was displaying Samsung products. He came up to me and gave me a nice Samsung Mobile pen. He talked about how I liked the Note 2 and I talked to him about his role with Samsung.

I would have told him that its great but its unfortunate Samsung couldn't stand its ground on the bootloader.
Mine was smooth. Went in. Fondled it and Decided to pay retail (keep unlim). I'm surprised the guy didn't try pushing me to upgrade since I'm eligible but I was straightforward on cost and knowledge so he'd have to get the next sucker, haha.

Smooth transaction, no wait. We went up there to pre order on Tuesday and picked it up Thursday. Neither trip took more than 20-30 minutes, and part of that was just bs'n with the guy(gotta establish a hook up!). We were the only order as far as I know(it's a new location), and the guy said he had to take a peek at it before we got there..none of the people there had ever seen the phone before, and they couldn't believe how big it was! I believe most of them had iPhones too, so yeah I'm sure it did look huge to them! Haha. Our salesman had an iPhone, iPad and had just gotten an iPad mini, so let's just say he's no Android expert(or warranty expert for that matter), but very helpful nonetheless. So far I'm happy with the switch. Came from T-Mobile.

I got mine at the VZW store at the mall last night. We had a great rep who took care of us and got done what we needed to as it was a bit of a song and dance porting my number and merging onto my fiancee's account. It took a good while, but he made the time pass quickly.
I'm liking the N2 so far. ^
I got mine at a store in Jacksonville. The sales rep was awesome because I had an issue with my pre-order, and she felt bad so she mine stashed away one for me so I could come get it after class. She said she wasn't really allowed to do that, but she started my order for me so that she had a reason to hold it. She said there were people waiting outside before they opened and sold about 5-6 within the 40 minutes since it opened. They didn't get many in, so I'm assuming I got one of the last ones. Overall a good experience.

I walked into a corp store here in town (Champaign, IL) at 10:45 and was meet by a manager and representative right away. Manager took notice cause I was carrying a box with all the DNA stuff in it .. Asked why I was returning the phone and then asked the sales lady to help me out... Only thing that held me up was the fact that the lady couldn't find the transactions for my DNA case to refund me but eventually did.. I got the White Note 2 and am very happy with me purchase.. My local Verizon store has always been top notch as well.
Not able to buy it yet, but went and checked out the Verizon version in store to see what was different about it. Wife is sold on it too. Thought she'd be getting the iphone 5 so pretty happy she came to her senses. Didn't think she'd go for the note 2 though; been talking about the DNA or the GSIII to her.
Got there around the store opened. A little after 9. Only 2 people ahead of me. My own hassle was being able to keep my unlimited data, because I paid half up front and put the rest on the bill. They had to remove the unlimited then call CS to add it back. Also my cable was faulty, it wouldn't charge so had to go back and get a new one, but they didn't have a white ones left so just gave me a black one. Other than that pretty easy experience.
Bought a Sprint n2 a month ago because we now have sprint lte. But their coverage is not as good as Verizon. So selling the sprint and hour to recoop the 350 cancellation fee. Used upgrade to buy Verizon n2 at 10am on launch day. 5 sold right away. Bought at Verizon store. Went by best buy but to crowded and didn't see a display so they may not have had it yet. Verizon rep very nice and helpful. All went great. Love Verizon and note 2!

You had to exchange the phone for a bad cable?? Or are you referring to the cable color? I got the Titanium Gray, but my charger and cable were white. Is that the norm?
I got such a stress headache worrying that I wouldn't be able to get one. My 14 day return period on the S3 ended on the 29th and the N2 was available on the 29th but I read here and there that some stores only had 2, some didn't have white, etc. If I couldn't get a white one, I was going to have to order it and use an old HTC Rhyme with a cracked screen in the meantime. So as I approached the store at 8:45 and saw cars, one after another turning into the parking lot. My heart was racing as I quickly found a parking spot. I wondered why people aren't getting out of their cars and lining up at the door when I realized there was a Starbucks right in the same shopping center. There was not one person in line for Verizon. I went in, exchanged my phone and was the only customer in the store. They said they had 20 of each color in stock. I celebrated my good fortune with a Starbucks Cappuccino.

I've seen a few threads now with people having bad reception and trading in there phone for warranty issues to get a better signal, etc. So I thought Id post this under general with its own thread so hopefully anyone who runs into this situation can see.
So like the rest Ive had horrible service compared to my buddies N3, and my wifes 5s, I took my phone in to an authorized retailer they checked out the SIM card and for whatever reason my phone running totally stock rom still reverts back to CDMA and when it does connect to 4G its only brief and not that great and overall speeds are slow, despite trying out different modems, same result. Called Verizon up and was put in touch with tier 2 tech support. Which I see alot of Verizon bashing but I talked to 2 guys from the Atlanta call center and I will say they were awesome to work with, however they could not issue a warranty replacement. They tried 2 or 3 times and got their manager involved and had no problem trying to get me a new phone, however they found when there computer wouldn't allow the transaction to go through, that earlier this month of July when Verizon killed off there Device Payment Option, NOT THE EDGE PROGRAM, BUT the DEVICE PAYMENT PROGRAM that there online and call centers lost there support of being able to do anything to help people who used this program, such as me someone who wanted an early upgrade but was locked in for another year or people trying to keep unlimited. I live just over 2 hours from a corporate store so this sucks for me, and now knowing any future problems Ill have to drive to get help because for some reason Big Red decided this was the best way to go.
So I just wanted to share in case anyone else has this problem, or was in the same boat. Im not on a contract anymore, not on Edge, own the phone outright, and can't even get Verizon to help out on the warranty now. UGH if it wasnt for them being the only service provider where I work!
Contact Samsung. This presumes you still have original proof of purchase. They will replace the phone. They are the actual warantor for the phone.
Sent from my Note 3 via Tapatalk
I am under a monthly payment plan (not edge) and called about my signal issues and dropped calls. The rep stated that because I am on the payment plan I have to exchange it in a store. He made the appropriate notes in the account and I will check out the store in the next day or so for the replacement.
I am on the same plan and had to do the same thing. When I did finally get them to try and replace it, they made me go to the store. Went in the store and told him to check the account notes and walked out of there in 10 minutes with a replacement ordered.
As I said I live a bit from going to the actual city that has a corporate store hopefully Ill make it over there this next week, although they never tod me about making notes I hope its hassle free.
A quick question for those of you who got a replacement from the store, how'd they ship it? The guy on the phone told me that as long as it was placed before 4:30-5pm EST they'd overnight it, howd they do you guys going through instore?
I have to start by saying this wasn't an easy decision, but I am a strong believer of standing up for what's right and fighting against what's wrong.
I have been a Sprint subscriber since 2001 and a Samsung customer since way back when the SCH-8500 was in style.
Since the smartphones exploded everywhere I have tried to have the best phone for my budget.
The Galaxy S2 was a great phone, I upgraded to the S3, skipped the S5 and S6 (of course) and had the the S4 'til Samsung put the SD card back in the S7.
I took the plunge and got myself a S7, by far the best Sam phone I had ever own, until Sprint decided that they knew what I really wanted in the form of bloatware.
After juicing the phone, the minute it smelled internet connection, the bloatware started flowing into my device just like just like flies drop into fresh manure in hot summer day in the country side.
Took a few minutes to go thru the list and disable almost all of the extra crap that Sam and Sprint load into our phones, I encountered a repeat offender: Smith Micro's Visual Voicemail (Vvm.apk).
Immediately I tried to disable, force stop, block all permissions, I tried everything short of grabbing my drill and hammer.
4 Phone calls to Sprint, 3 chats online, a visit to Samsung 837 in Chelsea NYC, a useless visit to the Sprint Store on 34th St NYC and another waste-of-time-visit to BestBuy's in house Samsung "Specialist".
...AND a public threat on Twitter to @sprintcare and @sprint the if the app wasn't remove or disable my 15 years with them will be jeopardized, the final answer was the app could not be removed or disabled.
So I decided to stand up for the silent majority and returned the phone and all the perks that BestBuy threw in, including the Gear VR and the 64GB SD Card, enough is enough.
I will be ordering the Unlocked version of this device which does not include the offending bloatware mentioned above.
Locked-down boot loaders, locked down phones, locked SIM's and on top of that unwanted crapware? F**** no!
We have to unite against this practice, manufacturers and carriers, not to mention the government itself are under the belief that they can decide what the end user wants and needs.
We the people have the power of the purse, we are the paying customer, we have the power.
-Thank you
I'm returning mine solely because of the locked bootloader. If root was available then all that bloatware could be removed. I agree with you, and I hope more people return it. I'm keeping the VR's though, somehow I received 2, both are going on Craigslist today.
Im heading in to bring mine back too. It is complete bullsh!t that the market that buys the most usa gets the locked bootloader. I have about had it with @scamsungmobile they dont care a single bit
you could have just downloaded package disabler which has admin permissions to permanently disable all the bloatware including that stupid voicemail app...

After hours of reading I came across Package Disabler and successfully disabled almost all of the crapware that came with this phone.
Eventually, I called Sprint and told them I would be keeping the phone because I found the way to disable the app after they told me it wasn't possible.
I also reiterated that at the end of my contract I will be dumping them after 15 years and going to join "Unlocked" club.
I highly recommend this application to anyone having the same gripes I had.

Good deal man. Im glad you found a solution. I however just joined sprint after being with tmobile for 3 months lol. I was with ATT for 10 years, decided to switch to tmo in november 15, it only took me a few months to realize how crap they are. Worst carrier in the world!! Im pretty satisfied with sprint minus not being able to use the internet while on the phone. LTE is fast and call quality is nice!! I do miss my note 5 though as im not really a fan of the edges and i wish it had an 8 core processor. Last, once i disabled the sprint bloat phone is much better. The end.
