I bought my phone at Walmart a while ago because it was on sale for 40 and was wondering if I have any warranty related issues like battery over heating would I go to wal mart or can I call Verizon?
Walmart, each retailer has their own SKU. So if you tried to take it into a Verizon store they wouldn't take it.

+1 you can only bring it to Verizon for a "refurb" phone if you bought it from Verizon either at store on online.
since you bought from Wal-mart, I believe if you have any issues they take care of it, but I'm not sure, the phone does have a 1 year HTC manufacturer warranty.
Ok thanks guys I wasn't sure. The people at Walmart aren't very knowledgeable but ill give it a try tomorrow
So...Verizon will control your use of the phone no matter where you bought it (i.e. locked bootloader), but won't support it... great...
Who else picked up their Note II in a brick and mortar store? Did you get there before the store opened? Were a lot of people waiting for or discussing the phone?
I got to my local Verizon store a few minutes before it opened. There was already a guy waiting there, so I asked him if he was waiting for the same thing I was... and he was. We talked about the features for a bit and then got let into the store. I got the Titanium Grey model. The store manager did my transaction... when he went back to get the phone, he brought a small pile of cases and screen protectors for me to choose from. I told him I already had both... heh. The guy who was there before me shared emails with me and we tested S-Beam before we left the store. It was pretty cool. I'm surprised there weren't more people waiting for it, but I don't live in a huge town.

i personally had a system glitch when i was using my fiancé's line to upgrade on her line then to switch to my phone to keep my unlimited data. but in the middle of it all the system glitched and i was able to buy the phone on a discounted price without renewing my contract and keep my unlimited data. will be waiting a few weeks to see if my unlimited data drops and if it does they will put in a request to return it the way it was. cause i personally did not sign a new 2 year contract nor was i asked to.
and i was at the store at 11 am there was a older gent in his mid 60's buying one. lol and i bought it in one of the biggest stores in tampa.
I went to a Verizon Store in a BJ's. Guy there was a total jerk. I must have been the first customer since I got there about 10min after the store opened and he was turning on the phones. I exchanged my DNA and got my Note. I was so pissed about the guys attitude. (sighs, tone of voice, throwing my DNA box on the counter) I forgot to ask for a white Note so I'm stuck with a Titanium and I'm not paying $35 to exchange it for a white one.

verizon only allows 1 exchange.
Did you buy the DNA from the same store? If I get attitude, I just tell them to refund me and I'll go buy it online through a 3rd party vendor. That usually changes their attitude.

Yeah I bought the Note and DNA at the Verizon Kiosk at BJ's Wholesale Club. The only other corporate store around here is in the "hip" outdoor mall that is PACKED this time of year.
So since I returned my DNA for this Note, I couldn't exchange it for a white one even if I wanted to?

Probably not. They only allow 1 exchange by policy. Might be able to sweet talk them.
I arrived at my Verizon store at 11 and was able to get the white note 2. I was a little nervous on not being able to get it since the manager the day before told me they only had a total of 4 note 2s (2 grey, 2 white) and that around 70 people called into the store the past few days asking about the Note 2.
I bought my Note 2 outright so I can keep my unlimited data. Oh and there was also a Samsung rep in the store completely decked out in samsung gear with both a Note 2 and S3 in hand checking out the place and taking pictures on how the store was displaying Samsung products. He came up to me and gave me a nice Samsung Mobile pen. He talked about how I liked the Note 2 and I talked to him about his role with Samsung.

I would have told him that its great but its unfortunate Samsung couldn't stand its ground on the bootloader.
Mine was smooth. Went in. Fondled it and Decided to pay retail (keep unlim). I'm surprised the guy didn't try pushing me to upgrade since I'm eligible but I was straightforward on cost and knowledge so he'd have to get the next sucker, haha.

Smooth transaction, no wait. We went up there to pre order on Tuesday and picked it up Thursday. Neither trip took more than 20-30 minutes, and part of that was just bs'n with the guy(gotta establish a hook up!). We were the only order as far as I know(it's a new location), and the guy said he had to take a peek at it before we got there..none of the people there had ever seen the phone before, and they couldn't believe how big it was! I believe most of them had iPhones too, so yeah I'm sure it did look huge to them! Haha. Our salesman had an iPhone, iPad and had just gotten an iPad mini, so let's just say he's no Android expert(or warranty expert for that matter), but very helpful nonetheless. So far I'm happy with the switch. Came from T-Mobile.

Saw best buy mobile in a nearby mall had stock so I ordered it for in store pickup at 6:30 am. Went after work to get the phone. They were sold out of titanium and had one white left when I got there. I got the titanium. Pretty smooth transaction.

I got mine at the VZW store at the mall last night. We had a great rep who took care of us and got done what we needed to as it was a bit of a song and dance porting my number and merging onto my fiancee's account. It took a good while, but he made the time pass quickly.
I'm liking the N2 so far. ^
I got mine at a store in Jacksonville. The sales rep was awesome because I had an issue with my pre-order, and she felt bad so she mine stashed away one for me so I could come get it after class. She said she wasn't really allowed to do that, but she started my order for me so that she had a reason to hold it. She said there were people waiting outside before they opened and sold about 5-6 within the 40 minutes since it opened. They didn't get many in, so I'm assuming I got one of the last ones. Overall a good experience.

I walked into a corp store here in town (Champaign, IL) at 10:45 and was meet by a manager and representative right away. Manager took notice cause I was carrying a box with all the DNA stuff in it .. Asked why I was returning the phone and then asked the sales lady to help me out... Only thing that held me up was the fact that the lady couldn't find the transactions for my DNA case to refund me but eventually did.. I got the White Note 2 and am very happy with me purchase.. My local Verizon store has always been top notch as well.
Not able to buy it yet, but went and checked out the Verizon version in store to see what was different about it. Wife is sold on it too. Thought she'd be getting the iphone 5 so pretty happy she came to her senses. Didn't think she'd go for the note 2 though; been talking about the DNA or the GSIII to her.
Got there around the store opened. A little after 9. Only 2 people ahead of me. My own hassle was being able to keep my unlimited data, because I paid half up front and put the rest on the bill. They had to remove the unlimited then call CS to add it back. Also my cable was faulty, it wouldn't charge so had to go back and get a new one, but they didn't have a white ones left so just gave me a black one. Other than that pretty easy experience.
Bought a Sprint n2 a month ago because we now have sprint lte. But their coverage is not as good as Verizon. So selling the sprint and hour to recoop the 350 cancellation fee. Used upgrade to buy Verizon n2 at 10am on launch day. 5 sold right away. Bought at Verizon store. Went by best buy but to crowded and didn't see a display so they may not have had it yet. Verizon rep very nice and helpful. All went great. Love Verizon and note 2!

You had to exchange the phone for a bad cable?? Or are you referring to the cable color? I got the Titanium Gray, but my charger and cable were white. Is that the norm?
I got such a stress headache worrying that I wouldn't be able to get one. My 14 day return period on the S3 ended on the 29th and the N2 was available on the 29th but I read here and there that some stores only had 2, some didn't have white, etc. If I couldn't get a white one, I was going to have to order it and use an old HTC Rhyme with a cracked screen in the meantime. So as I approached the store at 8:45 and saw cars, one after another turning into the parking lot. My heart was racing as I quickly found a parking spot. I wondered why people aren't getting out of their cars and lining up at the door when I realized there was a Starbucks right in the same shopping center. There was not one person in line for Verizon. I went in, exchanged my phone and was the only customer in the store. They said they had 20 of each color in stock. I celebrated my good fortune with a Starbucks Cappuccino.

Here is the short story, I first bought an s4, did not like it... traded it in for the htc one and payed 35 dollars. Then the black comes out at my store! so of course i need the black one, then I trade my silver for the black. Love it. However when i get home the head phone jack on it is damaged and wont play right unless i twist it properly. I take it in and show the guy working there and he sees its broke. Hes like you already traded it in 3 times i cant do it again. im like ITS BROKE! hes like you have to contact HTC now i cant. So i leave all pissed. I'm only 5 days into my 14 day period. Whats my options here? Its annoying that my head phone jack is broke the day i bought it.
I am surprised you were able to exchange the phone the third time. You are technically only allowed one swap per upgrade\activation. So it should have technically ended after the you got the first One.
There are a few options besides contacting HTC:
1) Find out if you have a local AT&T Warranty center. IF they some how have some replacement units in stock they will replace in house. If they do not have it in stock(which im sure they wont this quickly) then they will help you get a replacement with Exchange by Mail. Although, I am fairly certain in the first 14 days they are going to tell you to go back to the AT&T store and have them swap it. So maybe they can notate the account so when you return to the store they can be referenced.
2) Skip the warranty center and call #611. You can file a XBM that way and they will ship you a new phone with a return tag in the box to return the old. Once again, I am fairly certain in the first 14 days they are going to tell you to go back to the AT&T store and have them swap it. So maybe they can notate the account so when you return to the store they can be referenced.
3) Try a different AT&T store. Technically exchanging a phone for Buyer's Remorse and a phone for Defective Equipment are 2 totally different things. I cant guarantee you will have any luck with this.
It is a bummer that you got a defective phone. Hope you can it taken care of quickly. Try to not be a serial returner next time

Thanks for the help. I'd try different store but the others don't have it in black. I'm going to call 611 Monday and ask them about the option you gave me. I'm so tired of dealing with the sales reps at at&t. I told them when I went I don't won't to switch for a different phone I just want the same one that actually works. and they all freaked out on me because i switched the other phones. Well this time isnt my fault. Ill let you guys know how it goes. Dosnt at&t have a one year manufacturer defect warranty that they will change it for you? That's option you listed correct?
This the reason why I make friends with people at AT&T stores and starbucks.. you never know when you need someone to do a favor. Kindness goes a long way
Nonetheless, you can do a warranty exchange over the phone with them for up to one year. They will of course ask you to try doing a factory reset first..just play along
It only takes 1 or 2 days shipping when they ship to me in FL.

REally??? Making friends with people at ATT? I can see you drink Starbucks everyday and hence making friends there, but how often do you go in an ATT store? You must be bored or got nothing to do.

Funny. Striking up conversation with people in the customer service and sales industry is just being polite. Do you think they want to help someone out if they have to deal with someone being rude? Not really. The phone being broke isn't something they did maliciously..so you drew the short straw on the device; show respect to those that can take care of the problem. Most of the time they will do a "one time" replacement for being nice. Have a nice day.

I am planning on upgrading to the HTC One via Amazon wireless, if my unit were to come with something wrong with it (e.g. dead pixels/gaps), how do you return it? Do you ship it back to Amazon or are you able to walk into your local AT&T store and exchange it? Thanks!

I think amazon covers you for 30 days, after that you deal with at&t warranty services. Call customer service. They ship a replacement you send back your bad device.
I've had a couple phones I bought from Amazon Wireless. One of them had a problem so I emailed them via the order info on the site. I had a replacement in 2 days. This was about 2.5 years ago, so I can not say how their current support rates.

You can always return it to Amazon wireless within their return window.
Edit:: I stand corrected haha

Look at it from a business perspective. Both Amazon and AT&T bought phones from HTC to sell to their customers. If you buy a phone from Amazon and therefore deplete their inventory and giving them revenue/return on their investment, and why should AT&T give you one from their inventory, deplete their stock, and get no revenue/return on their investment. You could argue they get it through the monthly, but they're getting that regardless.
There's also a logistical reason too. AT&T can't access/see the order from Amazon(they can see you ordered something, but nothing else) to facilitate the return so they can't verify anything about your phone/order. Further, all returned/exchanged phones go back to HTC eventually and the retailers get a credit for returning them. If the IMEI/ESN doesn't match what was allocated to the that particular retailer, HTC might not accept it back or issue the credit.

Got ya. Makes sense, I had just thought that the wireless store was an extension of the organization at&t and not their own entity. At least you bring useful info to the table even though I had edited my post already. Not like some others.

I have had my rezound for almost a year but today was its last day of faithful service. I dropped it on concrete from few feet high on a ladder while working on my house. Well now the screen is unusable but the phone powers on. I went the replacement route and called Verizon to put in a claim. I was told to just go to my nearest Verizon store and they would give me a new replacement on the spot after i paid the deductible of 99$. The insurance (esecuritel) people also said that if I wanted them to send a phone they would be sending me a refurb in 2-5. I decided to just take the Verizon store route. So my question is what is the likely hood that the verizon store will still have any rezounds in stock? from what i've gathered from this site Rezounds have been phased out and are no longer offered or even put on the showroom floor?
Thanks
also please bare with me this is my first post and english is not my first language

The chance a store will have a Rezound is near 0%... I can't imagine any corporate store having any at all.
I never heard of Verizon corporate using anything but Asurion for insurance... And never replacing them under insurance at a store, its a different company. Not saying i know everything, but very odd.

yes that's what i though but my insurance is through a company called esecuritel tech protect. the Verizon rep told me it was a third party insurance provider. I was signed up for their insurance when i got my phone at a verizon store so I am not under asurion protection. when i called the claim in I was given a claim id and told to go into the store and give them the id. they would take care of it from there at the location. the rep said the store would be able to provide a rezound or a similar model phone if they are out. i will find out what the deal is when I make it to the store i guess.
