Hello everyone, I'm about to start rooting my s 3.
Previously, I owned a HTC evo 3d and in forums it had two sections, namely GSM and CDMA.
But I fail to see sections in S3 thread. Could someone please explain why?
Does it mean that any ROM designed for S3 will work for both GSM and CDMA?
Because the i9300 is GSM

Hi,
Recently i have aquired and HTC Hero.
While i was reading posts here at xda, i encountered people talking about GSM and CDMA, where i got really confused.
I've searched google to answer my questions and only i could find was Sprint version and Europian vertion, plus got more confused.
Here is the link of the Hero i have:

What are the deferences about those two Hero's?
What vertion do i have?
if you put a simcard in it it is GSM, if not it is CDMA. the picture you linked is AFAIK a gms hero, not sure whether you can tell it for sure just by looking at it. GSM and CDMA are different mobile network technologies, to make it short GSM is europe CDMA is usa.
With the hero its quite easy though, the CDMA version looks different to the GSM.
But phones normally look the same.
Pretty sure you have a GSM Hero. That looks to be a European site (selling in Euros) - is it Portugal? All European Heros are GSM. The CDMA ones are for the Sprint network in the USA. The main difference is that they use different mobile phone technology. And the GSM one has a SIM card the CDMA one does not.
Hi
What's the best CDMA tablet for android?
right now i'm considering to get a HTC Evo View 4G, will galaxy note get a CDMA version?
Hi
Is it possible to use CDMA version of EVO 3D with GSM band??? I know that there is no SIM card slot on board but except this PCB looks very similar.
Of cource firmware is different aswell, but I saw on forum that someone use ROM from CDMA version on GSM model even without changing H-boot, so porting from GSM to CDMA should work aswell??
And last thing if I will flash radio from GSM into CDMA I will permanently brick my phone or I will be able to repair it with bootloader??
Thanks for replay....
Erm... Quite simply... No. Too risky as software / hardware differences will leave you with an irrecoverable brick.
There are no drivers for GSM to CDMA bands etc.
People do change their bands with Custom Roms but im pretty sure that it isn't easy at all.
Invest in a GSM version. They have dropped severely in price.
Hello, first my apologies if this is the wrong place to post this but I looked around for awhile and couldn't find a specific US Cellular sub forum. I've done quite a bit of searching and have seen conflicting reports that this S3 was not compatible with the GSM network on T-Mobile and I've also seen that this phone was compatible on both CDMA and GSM once unlocked. Does anyone know if the US Cellular S3 can be used with T-Mobile somehow?
I currently have an HTC Evo V from Virgin Mobile, but that's annoying to have to do S-OFF so I just said forget it.
I'm thinking of changing to the Galaxy S III 4G LTE.. my friend says the Galaxies are easy to root and get KitKat running. True or what?
Should I be looking at Omnirom, Cyanogenmod or other?
A question posted in the wrong forum .
