Hello, I'm running the stock rom right now and I use to be rooted. I did the OTA update without reading up on it and lost my root. I'm trying to get a custom recovery so i can get the jellybeans rom. but everything i try to root it fails.. I've tried the casual and exynos abuse way and both fail. Is there something im doing wrong or im missing? Thanks and good day.
Yep you need to read a little. In original development there is s method to unlock your boot loader which must be done to flash a ROM.

I was dumb and I didn't read the forums before I went ahead... I rooted with framaroot and then I tried to flash a custom recovery and got the unauthorized software triangle . So don't so anything else!
Yes you definitely have to unlock your bootloader before you put anything else on there or else you might risk bricking your phone.
And yes casual is the only method I'm aware of..... so just look to the original android development forums and there will be a topic on how to do it

Bro its been said twice use casual... And read a whole bunch first so we have less of these threads which honestly shouldn't exist. Casual is the name of the toolkit that is used to unlock the bootloader.

Hi there I just sold my Note 2. I have it rooted and bootloader unlocked, I am wanting to return it completely to stock, lock the bootloader and everything. How do I do that?
I have been looking through the stickies. I cannot find how to do this or is this not safe to do?

Check the root and unlock guide stickied in general section. And yes FreeGee app will unlock bootloader, but unless something has changed phone must be rooted first. Look for CurrentRoot.bat for 20j.

I've rooted the phone months ago when it first came out using the root sticky guide. After getting the OTA JB update her root stayed. Am I safe to use the app? Don't want to end up with a brick. I'll post on the freegee thread and see. Thanks!
Droid DNA
You are safe. Just make sure to do the sbl unlock in freegee.

It doesn't? Then I'm sorry but I know that there's a way to open the boot loader by flashing an P760 kdz then open bootloader then flash back but I think that made the screen mirror all the time.
