Has anyone managed to get rid of the sound shutter successfully for the JellyBean 4.1.1? I've erased the sound files, changed the .xml, etc. and tried tons of other stuff but it refuses to be silenced.
I've seen a few mods here, but all of them are for older cameras. i want to keep the current camera, just silence it.

Hey, thanks for replying. (How did you get the text to look like that, that's pretty cool !!)
I had flashed the Stock Rooted 3.15.651.16 odex version
Its called frost,,and you want me to send you the apk?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like you have flashing capability. In that case whatever Rom you are interested in look into the changelog and usually the dev will nptate if they have the shutter sound toggle added...hope that points you in the right direction.
Just did a quick search through roms I've used and OMJ has a jb Rom out with the shutter sound on/off toggle built in...Rom is pretty stock looking with added tweaks etc. check it out along with others on here...

Thanks, I ended up trying MeanBean again and this time it's not force rebooting every time I do anything on it. He must've fixed something in his last update a that pertained to the cause. I'm trying v2.82.

I just recently tried out a couple of ROMs with 2.3.4 and I've noticed that the camera app no longer has an option to turn off the shutter sound, and I personally hate the shutter sound. With a passion. Is there any huge differences between this updated camera app and the last one? Because i may just get the old one if not, or has anyone else noticed this at all?
Do a quick search, there is a tweaked camera available. It removes the sound, adds panorama & HDR options as a bonus.

Is this another GSM vs CDMA feature? Cause I'm on stock GSM 2.3.4, and my shutter sound option is still working!
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using Tapatalk
Yeah, CDMA could turn it off before the latest OTA and before the ota we couldn't take screenshots w/o root, while gsm versions could.
I did do a search actually, well from my phone. I didn't find anything though, where can I get just the .apk for that?
I would like to know that as well.

This was not in the Apple patent..
It was in the pattent. It's not allowed to show a menu from the browser or the messaging apps. But the op's request is also a question I have. It would be nice to figure this out.

Yeah I had no problem doing this in sense 3.6. I hope HTC updates their app association settings to include a few more options. It's really bare. Most of the problems people have been having should be able to be fixed in software update.

If you had a us based sense 3.6 it should have had this problem as well. The cause is htclinkifydispatcher.apk. If you are rooted you can remove this app in /system/apps restart and you'll get your menu back but some apps such as talk and messaging won't work correctly with links anymore.

I don't like the stock notification sounds that is played when using NFC tags or wallet. I am currently using NFC task launcher with my tags. I can change the confirmation sound in the app but it still plays the stock sound before playing the one selected. Does anyone know how where the stock notification sound is located so I can change it. I have root explorer and I have search for it but I can't find it. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, many of the Android sounds are stored inside of.apk files which take a bit of tact to open, remove/change the sound file, repackage/sign.
Sometimes sound files are stored in the file system where you can access them directly with programs such as root explorer, but many system sounds are compiled into apk files such as the framework-res.apk file. Most apk files you can open in 7zip or any zip type of program, but modifying them can be a bit tricker. Themers and ROM devs usually have the tools handy to complete this task.
If you feel adventurous, there are plenty of guides around on how to modify system .apk files.
Hope that helps gives some general idea of where/how to look!
is this the sound you are referring to?(open zip to hear)

For some reason it wont play. I just flashed CMX so it might be a bug. I am gonna go back to viper4g when my phone is charged to a safe level and I will try to play the it then.
Edit: I got it to play, unfortunately thats not the sound.

Its the end sound. I just checked. I never thought to look in the nfc apk, brain fart. One question though if I replace the end sound with something I want and mess it up some how do I stand a chance in bricking the element or does it have nothing to do with the secured part

no problem :good:
I am running Gingeritis 3D v1.2 on my Thunderbolt and am having issues...
There has always been an issue with the sound enhancements that this ROM includes (Beats Audio, Dolby, SRS), so sometimes you had to dirty flash the ROM a few times for it to carry over all the files to prevent it from force closing when choosing between music sound effects.
After I made a backup for this ROM, it goes right back to having the force closes when selecting the effects button. Any ideas why?
Also my video stopped working. Any ideas on why that too?
I know this can be fixed with a simple reflash, but God knows I don't want to set everything back up again for it to eventually do the same thing again. I've also run a permission fix and it doesn't do any good.
Any other ROM recommendations that include Beats and SRS? Dolby was nice, but I've never heard of another ROM including all three enhancements.
I've always ran Gingeritis 3D because, for some reason, its always been the most stable on my phone and I really like how customizable it is.

I am running the VRALL4 Stock Rooted and De-Odex'ed rom from Scrosler. So far, its a great rom, I haven't really had any problems with it. Except I cannot figure out how to enable all apps in multi-view with a De-Odex'ed rom. I absolutely love this feature and would really like to get it back. Is there any way to do that on this rom? Or am I going to be forced into a different rom?
I dont think that rom have that mod. Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028535 some people said it works after the ota.

I tried this. It seems that because the rom is De-odex'ed, this doesnt work. There is nothing to replace when I copy the files to their appropriate folders because all .odex files have been removed.
@1ManWolfePack
I did not find this app installed on the rom. I went and found it here on XDA. I tried installing just the app, it seems to function however, the apps in the multi-view bar are not changed at all. I also tried flashing the framework files..... that resulted in a bootloop and I had to restore to before I flashed the framework file.
Thank you guys for helping me! Any other suggestions that I could try?
Check cleanrom verizon edition. Im running it and it have the multi view mod. It works perfect on my device.

Sorry about the boot loop. This will give you that app and unlock the multi view tab, but you'll be transparent:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116579
Dirty flash your rom afterwards to lose the transparency but retain features. I believe that's how I did it. Lol.

Mmmmm.... so far, that doesn't seem to work either. Crashes the flashbar service every time I try to open it. But I don't have much time to play with it right this second. I will give it another shot later, and if it doesn't work... idk, ill probably go and flash beans rom or clean rom.

Look in Scott's "Recently Archived Builds" link on his website. You can get the 1.0 SE there. Doubt there is further support since he archived it but really... anything that is missing in the Vzw 1.0 light can be found elsewhere. At least this way you have an option to have it or not.
Also, that is the LJB build, the new one is based of the new OTA, LL4, and new bootloader. I have the new bootloader and won't trust mixing the two.
