[Q] How do I flash an RUU? - HTC One X+

I have the AT&T One X+ and have it unlocked. All I want to do is root it now and read that you have to flash the stock RUU. I just downloaded the RUU so where exactly do I go from here?

The next step after unlocking would be to flash a custom recovery. Then you'll be able to root your phone. No ruu necessary unless you want to go back to completely stock. Also a ruu will only flash if your bootloader is locked, relocked,or your device has s-off.

I need to re-lock my bootloader on my bricked HOX+

I accidentally missed a step when flashing a custom ROM onto my HOX+, and now it hangs at the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen every time I turn it on (I can still get to recovery and bootloader though). I know that all I need to do is re-lock the bootloader and use the most recent RUU, but I cannot get my computer to detect my phone to re-lock the bootloader via the Hasoon2000 all-in-one kit. Is there another way to re-lock the bootloader without connecting to a computer? If not, what should I do?

computer is needed
install latest Android sdk and relock it
Thanks, I managed to unbrick it and root without missing the same step. Thanks to your help I am now running Viper XL+ perfectly.

Back to stock

I am sorry for being that guy but how do I return my HTC One back to factory/stock? I really did search but all I saw was rooted stock ROMs.
I think there is a ruu lurking about somewhere that is full on stock software wise, but as for s-off or boot splash from a custom recovery I don't know if it'll change either of those...at least that was my concern and would love to know for sure if someone more knowledgeable in this area responds.

did you backup your phone before flashing a custom ROM as that be the way to go. if you want to relock the bootloader you can do it but no way to set it back to its original state as far as I know as it will show relocked or something. the how to section here has all the info

I'm not too sure but I did it this way I believe. Can't really remember . Download the RUU file , if your are s-off and super Cid, then you have to change the Cid back to the orginal Cid. Once that is completed go into fastboot and use the commands to run the RUU. The RUU should take away the custom recovery and root. You will still be s-off and there is a guide to returning to back s-on but make sure that you do it after RUU or else it will brick I believe. After your s-on relock boot loader with the command and then re run RUU and you should be just like out if the box ..here's a link to RUUhttp://rootzwiki.com/topic/41226-leakruu-12650212/

Saw a thread posted last month. I have not followed it but there seems to be a lot of information in both the OP, and the posts below it.

You will need a WWE RUU version I believe.
First make sure you have you're stock recovery flashed, then relock the bootloader and flash the RUU.

Need to relock bootloader!

So before I could get to s-off my phone or flash a custom ROM I figurrd the vibration on my brand new ONE does not work. I did get to unlock bootloader flash twrp and root, now I need to return to %100 stock to return my phone. I flashed back to stock recovery but I still have 'tampered' 'unlocked' bootloader. Can I relock and remove tampered without being s-off? Also if I take latest OTA will that relock my bootloader??

Only way to remove it is doing the s-off, afterward I belive u can relock everything... I used rumrunner to change the s-off and then the revone method to clear the tampered flag on the bootloader.
- lookup remrunner
Then lookup HTC ONE Toolkit 2.0,by squabbi... The tool kit helps for someone lazy on the shell commads

Returning to sense from gpe

If I am running a gpe rom and got there by ruuing, can I just run a sense ruu to get back to sense? I've found some guides on how to go back and forth but none state you can just ruu back.
I am bootloader unlocked and s-off... I would think I could just run a ruu.

You need to change back to AT&T CID (or SuperCID is also okay) and MID in order to run the AT&T RUU.
You might be able to just return to Sense by running the RUU. But some folks have had to flash the Sense firmware manually first, then flash the RUU.

I've changed Cid before bit never mid. I just figured that the ruu could correctly partition everything and convert the firmware.
