You will need a WWE RUU version I believe.
First make sure you have you're stock recovery flashed, then relock the bootloader and flash the RUU.

[Q] How do I flash an RUU?

I have the AT&T One X+ and have it unlocked. All I want to do is root it now and read that you have to flash the stock RUU. I just downloaded the RUU so where exactly do I go from here?
The next step after unlocking would be to flash a custom recovery. Then you'll be able to root your phone. No ruu necessary unless you want to go back to completely stock. Also a ruu will only flash if your bootloader is locked, relocked,or your device has s-off.

[Q] Flashed a bad rom on my HTC One X Plus

I recently bought a htc one x plus and as the person as i am, i quickly unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery (ClockworkMod recovery) and kernel. But then i tried to flash a AOKP Jelly Bean 4.2.1 Custom ROM and after flashing it, it would just hang around the AOKP boot logo (a horse head with rotating rings around it). Then, without thinking, i relocked the bootloader (with a custom rom) to send it for warranty. Now, it would only go to the bootloader screen. After going through a few forums, i found out that this could be repaired by using the correct ruu for my device but they all say that i have to flash a stock recovery and boot.img before relocking the bootloader in order for the ruu to work. So my question is can i reunlock my bootloader to flash the stock recovery and boot.img without bricking the device and can flashing the correct ruu repair my phone. Please reply, i'm so desperate. The htc guys wanted me to pay $400 just to repair it and since i rooted the phone, warranty does not cover it.

You can unlock the boot again if you kept the code you received when you did it the 1st time round. Once you have unlocked it you can then flash any Rom. Did you make a nand backup before installing the custom Rom? If you did you can reinstall the custom recovery and restore the phone to stock.
I currently run the viper 3.4.2 rom, you could also install this after installing the custom recovery.

Hi Sharveen,
Please do youself a favor, and don't use the CWM Recovery, this Recovery is not adapted for this phone, I strongly suggest that you install TWRP Recovery, the latter is way more complete and rigorously tested on the HTC One X+.
TIP : Please read, read, read as much as you can before doing any changes to your phone, that can save you lots of problem.
First make sure your SDK tool (adb) is correctly installed and also the HTC's drivers. (There is a link for a tutorial in my signature.)
Download the correspondent recovery for your phone International OR AT&T/Telus (N.B. Links are available in the Sticky FAQ)
Flash the Recovery.
Clear Cache
Reboot in Recovery
DO A COMPLETE BACKUP OF YOUR ACTUAL ROM. BE SURE TO KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE
Install your correspondent version of any ROM.zip you want that is already on your storage. (Otherwise,Sideload a ROM to be able to flash one inRecovery)
Flash the boot.img of your desired ROM
Clear Cache Again
Reboot
Should work
Thank you soo much for replying and no, i did not make a nandroid backup when i tried to flash the rom. So can flashing a correct ruu repair my phone and hopefully get it back to stock rom...
Is your SDK/ADB tool correctly installed?

If you want to flash a RUU you need to install the original Recovery then flashing the correspondent RUU. Just let us know what is your preference, but as far as I am concern, your original backup wasn't made too bad, but you can still install a modded ROM.
This is gonna be your call for the continuity.

You could try searching the forum to see if someone has a nand backup for your phone. Only problem with ruu's is they haven't released the more up to date ones, so if your phone had the latest ota I doubt you will be able to use the ruu method. Personally I would use a custom Rom until you can find a nand for your phone.

The original recovery will be contained in the %temp% folder created by the ruu when opened but do i have to flash the boot.img which is also contained in the folder and also most of the forums says that you have to flash the boot.img after flashing the recovery while some says that you could relock the bootloader and flash the ruu after flashing the recovery only. So in my situation, do i have to flash the boot.img or not.

[Q] Problem When updating with RUU (HTC one M7)

Hi guys,
My phone is a AT&T HTC One 64GB. I rooted and flashed a custom rom few weeks ago. Today I wanted to unroot the phone so I followed the instructions and downloaded the RUU file for AT&T as well. After relocking the bootloader I tried flashing the RUU which started pretty smoothly. One thing I noticed was the image version of my phone and the downloaded file was different. The version in my phone was 1.26.502.6 and the downloaded file was 1.26.502.12. I proceeded with the installation. Which started ok and the phone had its HTC logo lighted up, but after about 20 minutes the installer showed a message saying error and stopped working.
Do you think I should retry doing this or find a file with the same image version and flash it ?
I tried Unlocking my bootloader after this again but it did not work. cmd freezes.
Please help me out..
Thanks,
Did you flash the stock recovery prior to running the ruu? I think this is required in addition to locking the boot loader.

can you share your solution? this happened as well to a friend of mine
Sure.,
When I flashed the ruu I got an error message and my phone froze where the HTC logo comes during the flashing process.
I tried restarting my phone using the power button but it did not restart and I just plugged it to my wall charger and the phone went back to the bootloader which said "ruu" intend of the normal fields in the boot loader.
Then I tried restarting again and it worked and I tried to go to the bootloader on the restart and I was back to my bootloader. Tried unlocking the bootloader so I can restore the phone but it didn't work either.
I switched off the phone and charged it till the battery was full and then tried unlocking the bootloader, then it worked, flashed the restore and got my phone running.
I relocked the bootloader and tried flashing the ruu then it worked, and that's how I did it.

Sorry I forgot to mention that. What I meant was I restored it with a backup I had of the custom ROM I was currently using. The rom I used was TrickDroid and used TWRP to make the backup and used TWRP to recover it.

yes you can as long as it is the same version or higher, than what is on your phone if you have unlocked your bootloader you need to relock it before you run the ruu

[Q] Need Help: HOX+ bricked?

Hi guys,
my hox+ seems to be bricked. I got a boot loop with the htc logo, but can still access bootloader, fastboot and recovery. But I am unable to flash the RUU image, cause of a high main version. Here are some pics that tell you more.
If I try to flash the new RUU I get the a new error now, that says "no device found" - I used the tool from hasoon2000.
Please help me, because the guy from the vodafone shop said, there's no way.
same problem with u but with AT&T , waiting for help >:<
Hope we get some help. Cant believe that the vodafone guys is right.
I dont know, why I cant use the "fix mainver error" function on masoon2000's tool.

Relock your bootloader and try the ruu again or you can sideload a Rom via twrp recovery
Your phone should be ok

What you need a backup stock RUU. I need one myself.
How can I restore my hox+ if I have a backup. I found one (I have less than 10 Posts, so I can't post links) for vodafone, but dont know how to restore it.
I flashed the CWM recovery image and tried to load the zip file via sideload, but it doesn't work. After the upload the process aborted. Can anyone explain how to restore a stock rom backup?
You need to flash stock recovery, relock your bootloader and then run the ruu

Back to stock

I am sorry for being that guy but how do I return my HTC One back to factory/stock? I really did search but all I saw was rooted stock ROMs.
I think there is a ruu lurking about somewhere that is full on stock software wise, but as for s-off or boot splash from a custom recovery I don't know if it'll change either of those...at least that was my concern and would love to know for sure if someone more knowledgeable in this area responds.

did you backup your phone before flashing a custom ROM as that be the way to go. if you want to relock the bootloader you can do it but no way to set it back to its original state as far as I know as it will show relocked or something. the how to section here has all the info
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm not too sure but I did it this way I believe. Can't really remember . Download the RUU file , if your are s-off and super Cid, then you have to change the Cid back to the orginal Cid. Once that is completed go into fastboot and use the commands to run the RUU. The RUU should take away the custom recovery and root. You will still be s-off and there is a guide to returning to back s-on but make sure that you do it after RUU or else it will brick I believe. After your s-on relock boot loader with the command and then re run RUU and you should be just like out if the box ..here's a link to RUUhttp://rootzwiki.com/topic/41226-leakruu-12650212/
