So I have this issue where my dock is unable to charge. When I plug in my tablet on its own, it charges just fine (though the little light to indicate as such does not seem to work). When I plug the dock in on its own, it doesn't charge, and the little indicator light does not shine, either. When the tablet is connected to the dock and I plug it in, the tablet charges, but the dock does not. I am fairly certain it is not the dock because I have bought two different docks and the problem was present both times (first dock was refurbished, second one is brand new). Seeing this problem twice is extremely frustrating and I don't know what's wrong. Any help is much appreciated!

Never heard of that one but applying some logic:
1. The dock should charge if the power cable is plugged in to it even without the tablet connected (i.e. the dock can charge by itself). Hooking it up this way eliminates the tablet as the source of the problem since it isn't hooked up. So the tablet is not the problem
2. Therefore the problem has to be either the dock, the cable, or the charger.
3. You already tried using a different dock (the second one being brand new) with the same result, probably eliminating the dock as the problem (as you already indicated).
4. That leaves the charger or the cable. Do you have another cable you can swap in?
I have Exactly the same problem.. My cable charges the tablet perfect but not the dock.
I plug the cable charging the dock overnight and nothing, cero charge. But if I leave charging the tablet it charges perfectly.
Now. I also notice that when I connect the tablet to the dock it says " change to Asus keyboard for better consistency " How do i chage this?

Is it possible to make the transformer keyboard dock into an external battery pack for my htc desire?

I think maybe he means using it as a charger for his HTC desire.
It is "possible", however you will need some way to modify the dock so that it activates power when the pad is not docked but the usb cable is connected. Because as far as I know the USB device won't be active unless they keyboard is docked. Good luck.
Make cable
That is actually one smart idea. Unfortunately it will require you to make a special cable that hooks into the dock/keyboard where the tablet is inserted, that is the connector for electricity to the battery in the tablet. Seeing that you are in Taiwan I'm sure you can convince a manufacturer to make a cable like that, I think there might actually be a market for that, albeit kind of specific and limited.
How about the Transformer USB adapter that plugs into the dock port. here:
http://liliputing.com/2011/08/asus-...sb-adapter-other-accessories-coming-soon.html
then plug a SUB cable from your phone to the USB adapter. I don't know that It would work but just an idea.
I tried to use the dock to charge my cellphone while I was in Hong Kong. There is one major obstacle to overcome. The usb ports on the dock will only provide a charge when the tablet is docked and awake. The second the screen turns off, it stops providing a charge. What I did was set the transformer to never sleep (never turn off screen) and plugged my phone up while I slept. Drained my battery in my Transformer, but charged my cellphone, which was more important.
Hello everyone,
I have my 32GB TF201 with docking that I purchased 3 weeks ago. After I purchased I was able to charge my table directly thru outlet twice and once thru the dock. This week the tablet ran out of battery. I plugged it to the outlet with an empty battery and yellowish light was on. In the morning (after 6 hours of charging) I checked and the light was still yellowish. I said 'what the hell' and left home for work. When I came back I checked and saw that the battery was only charged to ~9%. I re-checked the outlet and it was not charging. The battery icon appears when I plug the cable but the status is 'Not charging' and it actually is not charging. I could then charge the dock thru the same outlet and usb cable up to 100%. I also could charge the tablet thru the dock's battery. the only problem is between the charger and the tablet itself. I will still take it to the service but I can still listen to ideas to check in the weekend.
Thanks a lot.
You probably have a busted charge port on the tablet itself. Try plugging the tablet to the computer and see if it registers. If not, more than likely the charge port on the tablet is broken.

that was the one thing I did not check and I will today. but the tablet is being charged from the dock that is connected thru the same port.
I am having the same no charging issue, but I do not have a dock. The device recognizes the computer just fine when I plug into that, but into the wall, I get nothing. Even when connected to the computer, all the connection info pops up (usb debugging, asus sync, etc) but it does not charge. Problem started this morning.

Okay, I first had this issue last night. Unplugging and plugging it back in fixed it at the time. Then this morning, I couldn't get it to charge at all (replugging it in multiple times) via AC or USB (though it did recognize the other USB things like it should). I managed to find a dock in stock nearby finally and picked one up today. Plugging the tablet into the dock charges off the dock like it should, and plugging in the dock charges it like it should. Now, miraculously, when I unplug the tablet from the dock and plug it back into the wall via AC, it works again.
So, don't know what exactly the issue is, or how exactly to fix it, but at least it seems to have fixed itself for the moment. And, now I have the dock if this happens again
hey there. i took the tablet to the service but to my luck the unit is flagged as 'defective on arrival' and I had to return it. I guess it was a ahrdware issue. I could not take a new one since the reseller was out of stock of TF-201. I am waiting for it to become available.
Wow - my tablet would not charge at all last night as I ran out of battery. I tried all the outlets in my hotel room and my PC, but it just seemed like the charge port was dead. I noticed that the trim around the charge port was a bit deformed, so the plastic part that abuts the bezel was not straight.
Anyways - I get to the office this morning and plug it in and now its charging - whew! This is eventually going for RMA since the HDMI is completely dead, and now it does seem the charge port is a bit loose. I am concerned it will happen again just when I need it!
Very frustrated with the quality issues - it's just harshin' my buzz with this tablet.
I've switched through three different primes (with issues unrelated to this) but I seem to notice that all of the chargers are like this. It seems like a security feature or bug (not sure) but if you keep the charger plugged into the outlet, it auto shuts off the charging adapter after being plugged in for a prolong period of time. If you take the charger out, leave it unplugged for an hour or two, then plug it back in. It will work again. All three of the primes I got do this. So I just remember to unplug the charger and don't leave it plugged in and the issue doesn't seem to happen anymore.
btw just a heads up:
- USB won't charge on computers unless your usb port is usb 3.0. If your usb is 2.0 it will only charge on idle (which you won't be able to tell really)
- Dock won't charge the tablet unless the tablet runs around 75% battery (sometimes higher sometimes lower) its in the FAQ

This is the exact replication of what's occurring with my TF201 with the exception that it is still not charging directly plugged into the tablet after I remove from the dock.
weird trick
I think this might be due to how some devices recognize power, i have the same issue with my iPod touch. I found that if you take the charger wire with adapter attached and plug that into the tab, then plug that into the wall it should normally work. My brother was having this issue also with his dock not charging, and this method makes it work.
Well, called ASUS support and got an RMA to send it in. Apparently something's wrong.
I tried to plug into my prime to charge as I usually do when it gets low on battery and it refused to detect that it was plugged in. I've tried with multiple outlets and yes I am using the official asus wall charger and cable. It only charges very, very, very slowly if the tablet is off and plugged into the wall charger. In no case does it detect that it is actually plugged in though.
I see that there is a system update, not sure if that would fix it since I can't do it because I'm at 8% battery currently.
I'm on 9.4.2.14 right now
thanks in advance
I just updated this morning to the .15 and now I can't charge, so don't know if that will help you. Same as you I tried multiple outlets and nothing; reboot didn't help either. Prime was working great for me for what I need, now this. Will try the charging while shutdown. I see an RMA soon. Charging while off only is not an option, it's an inconvenience.

I have had the same problem after receiving .15 this past weekend. I have tested other cables and wall chargers and know that's not the issue. I also did a factory reset to no avail.
Any ideas?
Check the charger or get a new charger.
I've been having the same problem.. tablet will not charge either. Luckily or me i scored on a dock. And now the only way my tablet will charge is when i connect the tablet to the dock and use the wall charger to simultaneously charge both tablet and dock. Without dock, tablet will not charge. Maybe trickle charge only when screen is off. Gotta me a software glitch. Can't be usb cable or ac adapter as with dock, everything works perfectly.
Im having the same problem. Prime doesnt charge while connected to wall charger...it seems to only charge when the screen is off and connected to a pc. When this first happened a few days ago i left the prime powered off and plugged it into the wall to charge overnght which it actually charged but it hasnt charged again since. So ive been at 10-20 all day and barely get to use it so it wont die as i checked the battery stats and it seems the prime is consuming a whole lot of power in a short amount of time...if its not the charger then im screwed since i unlocked the bootloader...this issue needs attention as its effecting multiple users so hopefully someone somewhere can either confirm that they tried using a new charger and what the results were or someone else has a charger that you know works and try using your prime on another persons tablet..it seemed to have started when i had "switch me" app installed and running a guest profile i noticed my pc stopped communicating with my prime and it all went downhill from there..
It's definitely not the charger in my case. I'm waiting to hear back from Asus, I'll update when I get their response.
HELLO my TPRIME keyboard is not charging the tablet charges up to 100% but as i type my TPRIME keyboard is at 15% while the tablet is at 100% & both are connected and plugged to the charger i even deleted battery stats if anyone has this problem or knows how to fix this please respond THANK YOU
Lol, breathe, calm down, and learn how paragraphs work.
You are saying you have the prime docked on the keybord dock and the usb cable plugged into the dock. The prime says its charging but the dock does not say its charging?
Have prime docked. Prime should say its charging from the keyboard dock even if the dock is not plugged in.
Plug in charger to dock. Prime should notify that the dock is charging.
Now if you plug the charger into the dock there should be a light by the charging port that glows showing the dock is, in fact, charging. do you see this light? Does it glow when the charger is connected?
If the dock charge indicator does NOT glow and you know you are getting power from the charger then i suggest trying to get a refund or replacment for your dock as it seems to be malfunctioning.
Hopefully this helped. hit the thanks button if it did!
hello PILEOT thank you i understand what you explained but i have another friend who has a TF201 and the same thing happed to his prime i spoke to him he told me that he purchased a new charging plug and it solved the issue so ordered a couple of new plugs because the one i have i bought it and its a usb apadter plug im also going to call ASUS the only problem is i unlocked my bootloader that may be a problem but im not going to mention that fact thank you
i was shopping for a oem Car dock that would work with our phones but also fit any case i wanted to put in the dock so heres the solution im ordering mine this week

...comparison with the price of the iBolt ...looks like the same device to me.
I've had the iBolt car dock for a few days now, and it's working fine. It's a little clunky compared to my old Atrix car dock. I don't have a case on my phone, and the clamp on the top seems to sit on top more than grab it, but the phone is snug in there.

Have you had any charging issues with yours?
When it goes into car mode and navigation is on, it barely charges if at all.
I spoke with iBolt and they are sending me a new one. Hopefully this resolves the issue.
I am still curious if anyone else is having this issue.

The issue isn't the charger but the USB cable not being shorted to put phone into AC charging. Pins 4&5 need to be shorted to allow this to happen. I ordered two of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007F1DV76/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00
to go along with this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008B2EFA0/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00
and has allowed me to use the HOX+ for hours of navigation and still charge the phone.
For car dock I use this: http://www.slipgripcarmounts.com/SlipGrip-Vent-Holder-For-HTC-ONE-X-S720E-Using-Seidio-Surface-Case_p_130568.html
I agree that the ibolt is a little clunky but i love it. Its really sturdy. It stays in the position you locked it down at. It's easy to dock the phone with 1 hand. I havent noticed any charging issues but i'll keep an eye on that now that you mentioned it.
interesting
and to think i was going to try and mod my Atrix toys to see if i could make them work.. .this looks way easier, wonder why they dont include the proper cable in the first place or if there are any other docks similar

Hello,
Well it's been quite some time but I didn't wanna open a new thread for this.
I'm using the iBolt dock for my HOX for quite some time and as told above it charges really really slow.
You might say it is caused by the cable, makes sense, but the charger I use to connect the iBolt is the geniune HTC car charger, which does charge the phone pretty fast.
Also, I exit car mode when I don't need it and turn the screen off in order to charge more, but it randomly and frequently turns the phone on. Sometimes just the Android homescreen but sometimes it re-launches the car app too. I was planning to call iBolt for this but I do not have much hope for getting detailed information about the output (actually the USB pin design) since there is no information about this on the web sites.
Can anyone confirm that it supports fast (normal) charging? It becomes useless beacuse of this issue.
You can easily check for yourself. While the phone is docked in-car, do the following: Settings>Power>verify that phone reports "Charging, (AC). If phone does not say this then you are in-fact charging at 500mA. The i-dock/HTC Charger must be capable of providing enough current to charge at 1A and phone must state it's in AC charging. If this is not the case, your phone will discharge while being used in-car.
I had the same issue of non-charging when I first got my phone in December. My research led me to the solution I previously posted. I do not use car-mode since the only app I use while driving is Waze. I hope this helps.

Late thanks =)
After writing that message it came to me too and checked it, though it was saying that it is AC charging but I can swear to anything, whether car mode or screen is on, or not, it is not charged in 1000mA mode.. When I directly charged it with the genuine charger, it was fine.
So bought a 2amp car charger, and used its cable, and it works fine now.
May be, the genuine HTC charger CABLE and the iBolt are not quite friendly with each other. I remember Nokia's not launching PC Suite when it was not a genuine Nokia cable, may be a trick like that. iBolt does not like genuine cables or genuine cable does not like oem "sockets"
