Hello All
I am new here.. and too about samsung.
I bought an used i777 and I am happy whit it. but the problem is a noise when use the camera, like it video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toDlY8Txb4M
So I like to know if I can fix it, replace the camera or what I need to do?
I am on honduras and my english is to bad.
thanks
Hello all.
no body had this problema? Camera read noise?
There is already a thread with this same issue, it stems from the autofocus mechanism in the lens I think. You should be able to purchase a new camera and replace it. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

It seems that you've found the thread, as I've seen that you posted in it. Remember to search first before you post, because 90% of the time someone has had the same problem you have.

The vibrant is basically just the I9000 (form factor wise anyways).
The mounting stuff was not taken out, just the camera itself, so our hack to get the FFC working is just to snap it in & install a new kernel that supports it.
The I9000 didn't have a flash, so it's not that easy for the vibrant. It doesn't have anything to mount it to or anywhere to plug it in at all.
So, if it's possible, it would probably be a significant hack to accomplish.
Thanks Dude. I figured that if it could be done it wuld have already been done. Oh well I wait till August and get whatever is out then.

this is why all the devs left XDA and started all their own forums because the amount of useless new threads opened is pathetic. Even Cyanogen doesnt mess w/ XDA anymore becazuse ppl dont bother to read anymore....they should remove the new thread button in vibrant android dev forum unless u register as android dev and a MOD approves u...this has gotten waaaaaaaay out of hand
I've been working on a custom mod of mine own with 3 led on my back plate and cover everything with a external another back cover. I'm almost done with the project.

That is the kind of arrogance that makes me glad of the types that left. Yes theres a FAQ, and yes, there are a few that wont read it. Honestly, the FAQ (at least in the vibrant forum) is a frakin mile long! I can easily see how someone may miss it. Informative yes, but give people a break! Not to mention the breakup into 4 separate sub-forums ect ect, its easy for someone new or doesnt come often to not find their way around well.
Been going on for years, and will persist after you leave.
It's not a completely stupid or worthless question because I see it as do-able. I'm no dev...nor have I worked with the hardware on this phone, but I have thought about integrating a luminous LED as part of the flash. I think it could be as simple as finding th current that turns the camera lens on and integrating the LED power into it. Even if it doesn't 'Flash'...it's still a 'flash' equivalent lighting setting.
The FFC was do-able...I think someone can make a suitable flash for our camera.
Makes me want to work on it myself...
I spent a good 10-15 minutes in the camera app trying to figure out how to turn on flash before I realized the phone didnt have a flash on it! What a surprise damn you samsung!

course a flash would be lovely.but realistically the request to some how install a flash even when no original i9000 variant have a flash built into the unit to simply snap in is ridiculous. lollll
Don't be so quick to judge, I myself have wondered what if this phone had a flash. Honestly, it'd be friggin sweet! That goes without saying.
@Haxel: Awesome points, great attitude!
@p unit: I'm intrigued by your project, have you thought about somehow incorporating an LED flash into an extended battery back plate? More battery life, and maybe since the cover is bigger, you might have more room to work with on fitting a flash in.
good luck!

They are talking about a physical flash a light. not the light software program.
I thought it was a great question since the Fascinate has one. I don't see why having a moderator approve your question would be necessary, since none of the questions would ever get posted since they are questions that are usually way below their intelligence level. Let's be honest here, we as junior members look to developers, kangers and such for advice, guidance, and help. Having an attitude toward the people that look up to you for your knowledge, is pompous, arrogant, and simple minded. If you think there are too many questions, then don't read the posts (you should know what it's about by the title anyway). If you don't have anything to contribute other than a bad attitude, then don't respond and the rest of us will learn the hard way. You guys who don't want to read our questions weren't born with the knowledge you have, so don't assume that just because someone has a question, doesn't mean they haven't tried. Give some of us the benefit of the doubt. We don't all have our faces crushed into a computer screen all day you know........

I have seen an external clip-on type of flash light that you can clip it on your phone and take picture in the dark. I forget which website I saw it. However, it is still in production and not yet available until probably mid or end of this year, so just keep your eyes open.

somewhere in android section I've seen thread on mod of skype with working video, did not test myself, but if you feel adventuruous, please share the outcome...
Hi, all.
So, I have an S3 with the eMMC bug, and have just sent it back to Samsung.
They've told me they aren't going to fix it, as it has a chip in the front glass which voids the warranty. To get the actual problem fixed, I have to spend over £130 on a glass replacement.
So, needless to say, I've asked for it back.
I'd like to run CM10.1 on it, but need a fixed kernel. it was crashing before while on CM, and so would like to try another out.
Could anyone tell me which AOSP kernels have the fix?
I've seen the list, and am interested in the Googy-Max kernel, but would like to know if it integrates the fix!
Can anyone help me out?
I would ask this on the respective threads, but my post count is too low, and so I can't post there.
Thanks,
messageman3

Hello, fellow xda users, I would like to tell you this strange problem that I have.
Camera not available.
Please help with this. It started when the camera jams up. A soft reboot doesn't solve the problem. This is a nice device, but without the camera it's quite not ad useful as before
So please kindly help. Thanks

Use 3rd party camera app. Better than Sony's. Check out this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481316
Seems that your solution worked. But the best camera app, the FV-5 is the Only one that offers ISO settings. The worst thing is, you have to pay for that and the free version is only able to take a tiny 0.3MP pics. For now, I think the free 'a better camera' is my best option. Only that it seems to be geared for point and shoot users... Well, I need ISO settings and these aps just give you better colurs. They never give sharper image or less noisier image. I think I need to stay with this app till I get the real fix, or buying FV-5, which I doubt is going to worth the time and cash compared to the original camera app.
Seems that it worked right after I posted that post. Still trying to look for answer on what happened though.

Thank you :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Dude, it's not available for the mediatek version of the phone -.-'
. Meh fair enough. Just trying to help since no one else bothered to answer your question.
Google it next time : https://www.reddit.com/r/chinaphones/comments/765olg/best_camera_aplication_for_mediatek_phones/
Took me like 10 seconds to find that link
WOW you're so smart! I found that link ages ago, not the thing I'm looking for. Thanks, I guess
You know what. This is why I don't bothering trying to help people in the Q&A section. Figured it out yourself. Next time get a phone with a decent cpu and not a rubbish mediatek one. Jerk.

Ok never did you say you attempted to search yourself. How am I supposed to know what you've done that before you posted this question?
I gave you the best answer to your question I could find. Saying how long it took for me to find that particular reddit post isn't a measurement of my intelligence. You simply decided to come to that conclusion yourself and be sarcastic about it.
Next time why don't you put more detail in what research you've done already when you post a question. Would have saved my time and yours.
Regardless you still should have invested in the much superior Snapdragon model. I did my research and know getting the mediatek model would cause issues down the line.
Since that reddit post was about the only useful thing I could find (I took a look at some others, frankly I wish I hadn't now), I suggest you try what's suggested in there. As said in the post all of them are the same more or less as they use the same API.
Don't be a troll.
I have a working Google camera APK if you need it.
