[Q] How do I mod 23 toggles to look more stock - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Here's what I got im running CleanRom vzw Lite but I wanted more toggle options I found a flashable zip in a different carriers forum here on xda called GT-N7100_WanamLite.XXDLJ2.23Toggles and I flashed on Cleanrom vzw lite and it works all 23 toggles but the 4g and signal strength icons are different is there any way to get the Verizon factory looking ones back in there and if so how? I would also like to change the toggle back ground color closer to stock the one in the zip is black. If anyone could send me in the right direction that would be great or would like to whip that up for me that would be awesome..

Well that's the easiest way. I don't have the app to look at it but I'm sure it's in the res folder. Also just pull the images from a stock ROM. So basically you are gonna need someone to make it for you.

The easiest way is to extract everything and look at the images and then modify them, make new ones or kang them from a rom or theme you like. It's not real hard, but it takes time to figure out which icons you need to change. Ninja is good if you don't have a PC around and only have a couple icons to change but it's a pain for multiple icons. You'll need to change at least 2 icons for each toggle, one for active and inactive (some may have more). Use winrar or 7zip to drag and drop into the apk, then flash it in recovery or swap it out in the system files and reboot.

Between the two icons he wants changed there are more than 10 pngs to change (which isn't too bad in Ninja) but also its a lot easier finding things if you just extract it first. If you find multiple similar icons you can do trial and error to find which ones are used, or what I do which is compare different themes to see what they changed. Ninja is great though because when I do a theme at night and find that I missed one icon while at work I can fix it right away instead of going nuts with my OCD.

I guess I'm just to lazy to grab my computer most the time and just do it from my phone. I really haven't messed with toggles though so I assumed it was just two images per toggle. I think for the op your method is going to be much easier though if he wants to give it a shot.

SWYPE MetaMorph Themes by MotorJonny

SWYPE (Vibrant) MetaMorph Themes
Updated 8/19 with Sketch Pad Swype
Updated 8/20 Purpinkle Swype & Status Bar
Here are a bunch of Swype MetaMorphs I have been working on for the Vibrant. I plan on making more so keep checking in, and feel free to make suggestions!
I am by no means into any major developing or coding. I'm just into basic theming at this point. I make these because I enjoy mixing up my Vibrant and proving why Android is the best OS.
A special thanks to hoey2011 that got me started working on these by being the first I know of to create swype themes.
(Unzip & Apply) with MetaMorph. Use at your own risk! I have tested all on my Vibrant first with no problems. Reboot is not necessary.
Toss a donation in the hat if you like this artist's work

Enjoy!
Ok here is something for the ladies. Hook your girlfriend's Vibrant up! (or maybe you like purple yourself... not that anything is wrong with that)
I Included a Status Bar Morph too on this one! (remixed clearbar posted by junkdruggler)
PurpinkleSwype.zip
Purpinklebar.zip
This is an updated Purpinkle status bar with no battery indicator. This is made for applying on top of the many new (more accurate) battery inidcators you can find on xda). So flash your new battery indicator, then morph this on top.
Purpinkle4batterymods.zip
SketchPadSwype.zip
cyanogenswype.zip
SketchedWoodSwype.zip
DarkLimeSwype.zip
DarkLimePlasticSwype.zip
SketchedSwype.zip
RedGlassTiles.zip
Question.....
Will this work with other phones? I have swype on my rooted htc Hero.
Would love a themed version of swype i was wondering when someone would do this

I'm pretty sure these will only work on the Vibrant because they replace files with the same names.. If any developers provide me with the necessary files pulled from various other phones/roms I can theme them out. As much as i would like to make them for other phones, I would hate to not be able to test them myself. But we shall see...

Well, my suggestion would be, instead of browsing the Vibrant forum, which contains WVGA resolution themes, etc., why not browse the G1/Magic/HVGA resolution boards? If anyone has made themes for Swype there, they will work with your version, since you have HVGA resolution as well
My old Swype thread in the G1 forum is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7725289
Check that first, then if you have questions, search for HVGA Swype metamorph. Most likely mine will come up along with some others.
Wow i really love these themes. i cant wait until i get my vibrant to use them.
I'm sorry how do I apply? I unzipped but don't know where to go from there.

put .zip in folder
open metamorph
unzip new theme
use the back arrow, find the .zip
it will extract, then press "close"
now it shows what is going to be changed, click "apply all" in the bottom right
It will take about 30 seconds
close metamorph and open swype, you new theme is awesome.

You need to be rooted. USB debugging enabled.
Themes look awesome. Having one small prob. Once I save the .zip to folder on my SD, I can open the folder in metamorph but it then says "nofiles". Does it need to be on phone mem?
I created a folder on my external sd ( sdcard/sd/morphs )

Dont worry I put " lol " at the end of my comment because I was being sarcastic
Its not actualy an image over swype... it directly replaces the original images. Mine lags for a second or two after flashing it.. but this is just brief and not an ongoing issue...
Any chance of getting the plasticlime one in colors other than lime. Like the blue outlining the text box? Please

The files in the stock vibrant metamorph are LITERALLY pulled directly from the apk used to display them. Also, there is no such thing as "the" galaxy s rom, as there are way too many variants now to single it out like that, like we could with the G1, Hero, etc. I have a GT9000 thread in themes and apps, maybe you could look for some help there? I do not have a 9000 to test on or I would, but seeing as how much of the basic software is the same, Swype, Samsung Keyboard, Touchwiz, etc., I don't see why these morphs are not aligned properly.
Hopefully you can provide more information to help us help you

[THEME] Black Status Bar Theme For Droid2

Hi,
Here is my first theme. This is mostly to pimp out the status/notification bar on the droid 2. The zip file contains instructions. Mostly just a bunch of stuff ive/found stolen from other themes and some elements of my own. Let me know how you like it. The services.jar replacement can be dangerous so you should know what youre doing. The theme itself should be ok. You will need Metamorph and root of course.

some new icons/updates
looks awesome!! thank you!!!!
im going to be moving support for this theme over to the VZW 2.4.5 (and eventually newer) roms. version 0.7 will be the last one for the default droid 2 rom. ill leave it around for those who want it. version 0.8 for vzw 2.4.5 coming soon.

The letters and clock mostly. the images are all in a dark grey that would be tough to see so it would be nice to have all the icons(3G, vibrate, silent, battery, signal bars, text message and email) done in a white/light grey as well. I understand that is a bit tougher to do. I could make the images if I could rip the current ones off my phone and just use photoshop to change the colors then repackage and install. but I dont know how to rip, repackage or install. so I just wanted to use his method with icons I would make, assuming this is possible.

if you give me the images i can prolly make an installer for you, but you should maybe enhance your knowledge on this stuff first before you try to do it as these things can be dangerous.

It is possible however you would have to have a theme to work with first. You would then decompile the APK using a tool such as APK manager or you can open the apk directly using something like Winrar or similar. You can then navigate to the folder of "drawable-hdpi" which inside the "res" folder. This is where all the pngs are held.
well i was gonna release v0.8 for the green 2.5 vzn rom by angdroid, but i like the looks of that fission rom that they are working on.. maybe ill do 0.8 as planned and do 0.9 for fission once they are done with it.
fission seems nice and clean

What theme are you using... most of them incorporate the reboot option... unless your using a custom theme... Might try flashing something like gingerblur, or one of the other popular themes in this forum. Then you can edit the framework-res.apk to your liking, replace what ever icons you want back, and you'll have the reboot option as well. Sorry, I'm ot sure how to just add the reboot option though... sure it will require the editing of services.jar or the framework-res.apk.

You could use my MotoBlur theme as a base for your theme. Its just the stock theme with 1% battery and reboot added.

The reboot option is added by editing android.policy.jar.

Tried it the other day for 2.3.4... incredibly difficult... well, maybe not so much difficult, as it is trying to find a complete set of directions... Apparently, the devs used a combination of two different threads that were written for different phones... so the code lines don't match up and it was a damn cluster **** to try an figure out, so I gave up... Kenneth said this will be implemented on his next update for 2.3.4.
I wish I still had the pages saved, but I deleted them after trying to do this for a couple of hours, so I wouldn't be tempted to try it again. Ask in the IRC chat, there are a few people there that can direct you to the right place if you want to attempt, and good luck.

No one's been able to do it yet as far as I know. The gingerbread file structure associated with the reboot option has changed so much that it is incredibly difficult. I had heard a report that Designgears may have figured it out, but I think it was probably a false report, as no Atrix Dev has yet to incorporate it into a ROM or theme.

Just another update... DG said to me a while back that he was able to add the options, but they screwed up the current options so none of them worked. He did not get it working for the Cognition beta.

I tried as well, and all I got was me turning my power button into a reset button, options wouldn't show up.. so there was no way to turn it off, it would just reset my phone when ever I tried to pull up the Phone options..
I was working on this a little bit once I got GB update. I am like 80% the way through it. I can link to what I am going off of-
From the Vibrant Forums
I had all the files edited and ready to rock, the problem I was at was the RECOMPILING. I think I was missing some dependencies.
I got all the way up to that point and had to go home for the day at work- never picked it back up. If I get some time at work today I'll give it another crack.
If I get anywhere I'll post my framework-res.apk.
I followed the steps from that thread too and while I could build/compile everything fine and get the options to show in the menu none of the reboot options would work. Seems we're all having similar issues with this.

I was following that thread as well, and my issue was stated above, then I saw this from the DX2 forum, which has GB and on his change log, he stated he added reboot options.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198857
I grabbed his theme, compared the framework.jar, framework-res.apk, and android.policy.jar files.. they pretty much match up with ours. So, using Notepad++, I did a compare between the files, added what he added, basically looks like the same things from the vibrant how-to. This time around, when I press for the power options, it comes up normal, but the link to the 'reboot' does not show up... I might try this without the battery %, as that takes up alot of the hex id....
I'm thinking we might need to add that line from DG that he did a while back for the first reboot options on froyo...
I also have no problems with recompile... I'll mess around with it some more when I have free time.. I don't spend much time inside during the summers..
has anyone decompiled the framework-res from the g2x's gb build or maybe even CM? Not USE the framework of course, but maybe see what flags that policy uses for a reboot?
edit* seems like previous posted may have tried what I asked. back to the digi drawing board...

[Q] Signal Bars Mod

Does anyone either know how to modify the necessary files to create the 5 or 6 signal bars, instead of the default 4, or already have a flashable zip file to modify the bars only? I have been asking for weeks and no one seems to know. I found a few themes and different roms that do this, but the rom I want to stick with has the 4bars and I want stock look. The only other thing that is close in the transparent pull down 5 bar mod, but that flashes the funky animations and clear pull down.
You can UOT kitchen, but ifyou dont know what your doing here you can screw some things up pretty bad from what I understand. I too was interested in changing the signal bar along with the battery icon, but was told that it can be a headache to do and isn't worth the hassel most of the time. But I could be wrong, maybe it is easy and I'm just misunderstanding.
Pulling it out of BAMF of another ROM with the mod already baked in is an option, but before you do that, you could try flashing the Froyo Style Icon Pack from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043589. BUT, that package is only advertised for BAMF remix ROMs, so do so at your own risk and if you choose to try, make a nandroid!
Both are good suggestions, but I cant seem to figure out UOT to work for the signal mods and the remix page is cool, but they dont work for the bamf rc3 rom, it wont boot after flashing. Anyone else have any ideas?

I have already unzipped these files and tried modding them myself, but nothing is working. In order to learn something, you have to be taught it. No one here is willing to teach. I've messaged people, researched different methods on the web, and posted in forums. If its so easy, then create a zip and post it.

I've messaged people, researched different methods on the web, and posted in forums. If its so easy, then create a zip and post it.

it's really hard to explain... you have to know what all the png's do and what they represent before modding them.

download 7zip and learn to unzip/mod the frameworks/systemui. it's pretty easy once you get used to it.

That's the right file but it's located here> System>app>systemUI>res>drawable-hdpi.
I'm pretty sure I could make a flashable zip for this. I just need someone to post the link to the stock rom being used. Transferring the .9.png files will be easy but I'm not sure which folder/file to transfer to make it actually work on 6 bars if stock only uses 4 bars.

Here are the files that I have been working with...they are pulled from an old theory rom...I used kitchen to mod/cook them and flashed them to BAMF RC3, the only problem I have with them is the green 4g icon, signal bars, alarm icon, and silence icon. Everytime I go into the systemui.apk to change them, the stock 4 bars return. I have tried painting them and pulling white bar/icons from other roms. They are the same filenames and everything, but something about changing those files breaks it. Thanks in advance for any help.
UPDATE: I finally made some progress, I actually ended up making two well working files. The stockanimationbatterysixbarmod(updated).zip file is a 6bar mod that has stock animations, battery percentages, has stock icons, has the recent apps function in the drop down, and includes carrier information at the top. This mod also moved the "clear" button from the center beneath whatever the notification to clear was to the top right corner.
The next file 6barstockanimationRC3 keeps the "clear" button beneath the notifications, and still has 6bars, stock animations, battery percentages, and stock icons but removes the recent apps function.
You can flash either file via CW and are up for anyone who wants to grab 'em.

It's possible both the framework-res.apk and the System.UI.apk are holding the right files but you're not deleting the signature(META-INF)file after you make your modifications. After you delete that folder you have to also resign the apk. I'll take a look and see if I can fix it.
Finally
After many hours and a ton of files, I finally got what I wanted...Stock white 6 bar look, stock animations, and battery with percentages. Here is the file for anyone who wants it. I am using it in Bamf RC3
Can you post how you did it ?
I know how to mod the battery icons using the UOT kitchen but there isn't a way to get the 6 signal bars with the UOT Kitchen. Thanks.

[Theme] Alternative Conversation Skins

Hey guys.
I have spent the last 2 days re-theming the conversation skins for the stock LGMms3.apk.
I was inspired by whiteguypl's theme HERE.
This has his dark holo theme included. (Has the same little issue where the text color of links that people send you is the same as the background color).
(If you have an issue with this whiteguypl, please let me know).
I have included screenshots for all the themes.
I know they are a little rough, I am still brand new to themeing.
This was some pretty tough work (mostly because I had to learn a lot and made a few mistakes in the process).
Usual Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for any harm done to your device from flashing this.
I have flashed it fine on my phone without issues but cannot promise the same for you.
This replaces the LGMms3.apk from /system/app/, so I strongly recommend either a system backup in recovery or at least making a copy of your LGMms3.apk before installation.
Install via recovery.
I have only installed this on The Base 7.3, but I believe it will work for Nocternal Rom and even stock (you may have to rename system/app/LGMms3.odex to LGMms3.odex.bak, I've heard this worked for other users with another mod).
If somebody would like to try on their ROM and let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.
Download HERE! (Was too big to attach).
Thank you for your support guys, this community is pretty great.
I dig it dude. Can this kind of stuff be done with stck calculator?

This is bad... Now I got a problem. With the previous skins I used to like only one and I just stick to it. But what I'm I going to do now with such a quality? I like them all!
Good job. Now I'll be changing skins every few days.

Thanks, I don't know to be honest.
I haven't even used the calculator, I'm not sure how much of it is .png (easier for me) and how much of it is .xml (new to me).

Haha, thanks.
I stuck with the original dark holo mod by whiteguypl, loved it.
Loving the themes dude!
Just one question though, how would one go about changing the background? For example I love the dark skin with the blue and grey message bubbles but I feel if it had like a dark grey background, it would look a tad better and easier on the eye. But that's just my opinion so if there's a way to change it, I would sure appreciate the advice

You could extract the .apk with something like 7zip, go to res/drawable-xhdpi and res/drawable-landxdpi (I believe that is it, going on memory).
Open the two background files in a photo editor and change them however you want.
Then open the original .apk with 7zip and drag those new files into the correct folder in the .apk.
Then copy that .apk to /system/app/ and reboot.

I see. Sounds simple enough. Would the picture have to be of a certain size?

These are the original 2 from one of the .apks, you SHOULD be able to edit these and just drag them into the 7zip window in the proper folders (res/drawable-xhdpi and res/drawable-land-xhdpi).
(just open the .zip, it is just the two files, they have the same name so it would not let me upload both of them)

And would I be able to do this unzipping and swapping from my phone? Like through ES file explorer?

That I do not know, you could unzip for sure, probably even edit the files... but I don't know if you could edit the .apk on the phone.
There may be apps that could do it, I have never even tried or thought to do so.
Love the ICS looking theme. I don't understand why manufacturers don't theme their phones with colors that fit the entire OS. Good job!
Skins on SnowJB ROM
Awesome!
does your update also include the original skins?
No Go
Didn't work for me...I am running stock JB..tried without renaming and tried to rename the odex file and just kept on getting force closes every time I open messenger... I was really hoping it would work themes looked so nice..
Help?
Would this work for the telstra version of the OG?
The E975K? I tried replacing the system messaging app but it simply keeps force closing.
Tried fixing permissions and everything.
How did you change the font colors?
OP, im trying to do what you did but for the optimus f3, do you think you could tell me how you edited the apk and repacked it?
how do i get it on my phone
