I found this kernel in the sticked post in the General Section. It doesnt list a base the kernel is compatible with. It does say it works for all ICS roms. I know its out of date but I want something to help with my battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771220
Anyone try it or could give me some insight on if this will work or any other kernels I can use?
Blackstar XI is based on n7005 firmware that they have not released kernel source for yet so there are no kernels that you can flash for it yet.
If you want to use custom kernels use x and not xi

Yeah a new base was used with the newest version of Blackstar. Most people used X because you can OC/UV.

Everyone is waiting for it to be released. But for now if you want to use kernels just stick with work based off of UCLF6. That still seems to be the most stable.

There are already some custom rom working on ics. See miui, unofficial cm9 and aokp and clean aosp. there are on droidhive.
Only the gsm don't have much
I agree. Wait for Kexec, bypass for custom kernels (that's how I understand it). If he gets that up and running, errr when he gets that up and running, we will probably have JB roms floating around. Give it time, and you will receive all (hopefully) the custom roms that you can handle.
I don't do any over clocking. With that said, what kernel should I choose? Does one get better battery life?

If you don't overclock, and I don't know why you would need to other than benchmark scores, stock would be my choice of the two.

With that being said, is there a stock L4 kernel floating around? When I looked a couple of weeks ago, I came up empty.

I have one that I can package up for flashing later. VRALJB kernels work on VRALL4 ROMs though

What is the best Vibrant jb 4.2 rom?:cyclops::cyclops:
Its a matter of an opinion. Slim bean is nice and small. Cyanogenmod well its pretty much the original. Avatar is the ROM that is not only extremely customizable (miui) it also can have have ota updates. Root box(my port) is fast and pretty stable with built in pie. Cyanaosp(also my port) is meant for gaming and runs hardcore games pretty well. If I left any ROMs out I'm sorry I just named what came to my head
If I helped you, hit the thanks button!

Although baked isn't really updated on XDA anymore is it? PAC man and paranoid android are also two others that come to mind. And no there is no Liquid Smooth ROM for our phones

Nobody can tell you that, try finding it for yourself, the experience is different for everybody.

It's against forum rules to ask for 'best rom/kernel'. King_below_my_lord isn't being harsh about not answering, no one will (or shouldn't) answer that question.

That one you try and, according to your apps and daily usage, gives the best. Try & compare.

Carbon
Vanir
Or Omni (if we ever get an updated version)
I'm interested in what you think not what features I want.

Tbh none of them. I'd go with Viper or CM there the most stable.

I second this. I will also add Santods NuSense One Max Dlx Rom.
Gingerbread.
I personally have had uber awesome stability and performance with ProBam if you want to give that a go combined with jakethemorris's kernel w/dt2w. And this is coming from a guy who never uses CM ROMs and mostly stick with Sense based (Viper or NuSense)....most importantly choose which flavor you prefer duke.

Thanks. Not a big sense fan and cm doesn't have all the cool features of some of the others. Omni is doing a lot of awesome stuff. Maybe I'll wait. In the mean time I'll check out probam.
