I don't do any over clocking. With that said, what kernel should I choose? Does one get better battery life?

If you don't overclock, and I don't know why you would need to other than benchmark scores, stock would be my choice of the two.

With that being said, is there a stock L4 kernel floating around? When I looked a couple of weeks ago, I came up empty.

I have one that I can package up for flashing later. VRALJB kernels work on VRALL4 ROMs though

Alot of cm9 tweaks and such are based around the kernel, it wouldnt be wise to try.
Sent from my note running 25% brightness and 100% PAD kick ass.

I found this kernel in the sticked post in the General Section. It doesnt list a base the kernel is compatible with. It does say it works for all ICS roms. I know its out of date but I want something to help with my battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771220
Anyone try it or could give me some insight on if this will work or any other kernels I can use?
Blackstar XI is based on n7005 firmware that they have not released kernel source for yet so there are no kernels that you can flash for it yet.
If you want to use custom kernels use x and not xi

Yeah a new base was used with the newest version of Blackstar. Most people used X because you can OC/UV.

Everyone is waiting for it to be released. But for now if you want to use kernels just stick with work based off of UCLF6. That still seems to be the most stable.

I like to try new roms, kernels, etc just like you guys and don't want to have to restore a nandroid just for a kernel change. I thought I had seen it at one point, but is the stock 2.04 kernel floating around somewhere?
Thanks!

I'm looking for a ROM that's as stock as possible that can still allow for maximum performance and the best battery life.
I've looked at several different ROMs, but can't figure out what to pick, so hopefully someone in here can help me out a bit.
Here are the ROMs that I've taken a look at:

Thanks for the fast reply. So the SlickJB ROM would be this. I'll look into it even more.
I'm happy not running a custom rom right now and just using faux kernel. When the 4.3 update becomes official will I be able to just flash an image and run like I am currently?

You could, but I don't recommend it. For one, we don't know when or even if the Odin image for the update will even be released. But if it does, it's gonna re-lock your bootloader (since you're running a custom kernel, I am assuming it is unlocked), and your phone may not be able to be re-unlocked again.
Once the update is out I'd wait until the devs get a hold of it and update the custom roms. With the new Samsung KNOX included in the update I'd say it might be a little bit of time before the roms are updated, but they will be.

Sounds good... Must not relock lol.
Thanks
