I had to have my S2 replaced under warranty this week because of failure of the USB port. The replacement came with ICS 4.0.3 already installed. After a day of getting all my stuff moved over, rooting the phone, and re-installing all my apps today I went out and paired the phone with my 2012 Ram. My previous S2 has worked flawlessly with this vehicle since day one. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get my Outlook contacts to sync to the phone via Hotmail Connector, only the Google ones. This had been working for me prior on rooted stock GB. The truck had no problem pairing, but doesn't want to dowload the phonebook for some reason so I can't use voice dial and incoming calls are not recognized. Is there enough difference between GB and ICS to have caused this? I don't want to go back to GB, but this is a deal breaker. I don't really see all that much improvement with ICS anyway. I need my phone to work as it was.:crying:
Test gb and see

Dude you should have waited to get the replacement. The USB part for my phone just came in today and I just finished installing it. I'm charging up my phone now and will report back in your original thread on whether or not the charging indicator stays there after I unplug it. Replacing the chip was super easy, btw.
Edit: it wasn't your thread, but you posted in it. It's in the Q&A section.

Pointless thread? I don't want to downgrade, I wanted to find out if anyone else had seen an issue like this or had something better to reply with other than, "Flash back and see." Sorry if I took up space better used by another clueless newb asking how to revert to stock or how to flash his Skyrocket.
FYI, I finally got the Outlook/Hotmail sync working (I would tell you how, but since no one cares...). Now to see if I can get my phonebook to download to the truck. As for Lekerstein, I really didn't want to be messing with the USB connector when the phone is still in warranty. By getting a replacement I also now got another month added to my warranty and an updated phone, so I'm good. Hope yours works out for you.

Well seeing as the problem started on non GB then it would seem that ICS is the culprit

Yes and no. It appears that the original method that worked on GB for setting up MS Exchange sync of the phone with Outlook via Hotmail no longer works on ICS. I simply tried a different method and that was the charm that worked. The functionality is still there, it just takes a different setup method to get it to work.:good:

Hi,
Has anybody noticed that the touchscreen doesn't work very well when a charger is plugged in? To be more specific, the screen erratically registers touches or freezes completely until i turn the ! The device is 2 days old.. completely stock. No flashlight/LED software installed. In my searches I noticed a thread on the Optimus G with these issues but not on the ATT version.
Anybody come across this?
Thanks.

Are you using the LG charger or another one. This has been documented here by myself and others (tried finding the posts but I'm not sure where).
I had the problem when using another cord/box, used the original LG one and the issue all but vanished (I think I have noticed it once in the past month or so).

This happened once with an LG charger and pretty much constantly with a samsung note 2 charger. Hopefully this can be mitigated by a software fix and isnt a HW issue. Thanks for your response. I'll try searching for your note on it too.
This is a known issue with the device. LG pushed a fix in the Sprint ZV9 update, but I don't believe anyone has tried porting it over yet. We will most likely get the fix in the next update.

I have tried 4-5 diferent roms and in all roms i am getting my music apps(audio+video stock and third party apps, call ringtones) are getting strugle in running with both speaker and headphone mod. Not getting fc anytime. Sometime all related apps runs smoothly and sometime all face struggle zigzag type video/audio. Any help Please.
Is flashing stock firmware help? OR it is purly a hardware related issue.
Will flashing Stock firmware via odin unroot my phone?
Dont have a clue about that, did you try another music player like google mudic?

Actually extra volume boost link given by you is for sony or aosp roms and for increse in volume. I have different issue. My audio/video are not running smoothly even ringtone when anyone calls me. So i would not like to try that. I have tried Google play music app. and actually right now all related apps are working fine so that also works fine. I will reply about Google music app when I get the issue again.
Okay. You said something about a sound mod so I looked for it.

yes. and same issue comes in all roms so i think it may be some hardware related issue Or some error which is not getting solved after rom changing also. As you suggested to someone in other thread "strong bootloop" to use script "to remove parts of the phone that may be can make some isues with the ROM that you are flashing" , Can i use that type of thing. If so please provide a link for i9100g.
Actually problem starts as:
I was with teamxd rom(samsung based). My memory get filled and i could not delete any file by file manager(ES). I made a factory reset and device got bootloop. Then I install the same Rom again with full wipe. After that i am with this problem in all roms.

You might need to change the USB flex board then. Cheap & easy. Click the link in my signature, from there you can access a guide by @keithross39, where it's explained how to DIY if you choose. Pay careful attention though, there's 4 different versions (revisions) of the board itself, you need the correct one or you'll get issues. Else, just take it to a service centre/local shop to get it replaced.

I have taken it to local shop and he is saying it is not usb problem. Your phone not taking so much load to play audio/video. After applying charger it get more power and then it works fine. He take my phone for one day. I suggest him please change usb port first. If that not works then try to find solution according to you.
Where I can get USB flex board in india(anyone please help). I tried to find on ebay but not succeed. There is someone whose motherboard is dead. Remaining everything is working. But his phone is I9100 and mine is I9100g. Are the remaing hardwares are same in both. Will his USB board works in mine

I would ordinarily say it isn't either. I don't know if it's not that. Regardless, it sounds like you need a new one anyway. Let us know how you go with the repair shop.
As far as I know, the i9100g one will not be compatible with the i9100, as the hardware is different. I don't know how to buy one for an i9100g, I would have said ebay but other than that, I'm not too sure. Sorry to not be of much help.

My phone has been over heating. A LOT. Even with basic use. No gaming or anything. Anyone experience this? I called tech and they were no help. Told me to run in safe mode and remove my SD card..... Ya that won't work for me.
Thinking about full wipe but I dread resetting up everything.

I haven't had any issues like that. Only over heading I experienced were while using car navigation while wireless charging. You can try shopping cache plus restart to see if something is stuck, or if you have a new installation freeze that and see if things get better.
Another thing to look at is detailed battery use, see if there is any surprises. Many times the app that causes heating will also cause faster battery drain. If you can't find the app then full wipe may be needed.
Edit: one other question, did you change case recently? some cases don't transfer heat as well.
I did. A lot. Got to the point that I could take one picture and the camera would shut off because it was over heating. Hard reset didn't fix anything. I also had wireless problems (wifi would never stay off, airplane mode didn't work), and battery life was pretty poor (coming from Note 2). Replacement phone seems much better on all counts.
Thanks for the info guys. No case on the phone. Still working on rooting and playing with Xposed.... Maybe something there will help.... Or just have Verizon send a new one. I really do love this phone... So hopefully I can resolve this.... Maybe lollipop will help... If we ever get it....

Update
So had Verizon send me a new phone..... Have had it a day and a half and have already seen signs of over heating...... Granted it's close to 100 outside..... But I've been in the car with AC using GPS and it was getting really warm. I've had SEVERAL other phones with the same or more heavy usage with no over heating issues......
Not sure what to do. If it keeps up I'm going to have to consider a new phone....
Anyone know of any risks using the phone when it's over heating??? It's not going to explode or catch fire is it???

Same here. I can use the camera on this one but this is annoying. Might sell and go back to my trusty Note 2 that still hasn't sold anyway.
Anybody find any workarounds (besides the tin-foil inside the case thing)? I get camera shut-down after just playing around with the various modes without even recording anything. Thinking about getting an ice-pack to mount on the phone when I want to record videos......

Right now I am looking into getting a new phone, this one is getting annoying, want something I can get current Android version on and not a year old unpatched (Stagefright) leak that is not even Marshmallow.

There are a bunch of other threads here about this issue, as well as in the Nexus help forums. This is a hardware failure and the only fix is a new motherboard or a new tablet. Don't waste your time trying to fix it through software.

Thanks I'll wait till the nexus tablet comes out then get that one then.
The help forum had a new suggestion. Take off the back, unplug the battery, plug it back in again (I cleaned the connectors with alcohol as well). As long as you're careful not to detach the camera it's an easy job - use a guitar plectrum to ease the back off... I've drained the battery completely for 3 days without a reoccurrence. It's probably not fixed - but it hasn't happened again yet.

A few people over in the Nexus help forum who were out of warranty have had luck with this fix as well. One guy reported no issues after two months and discharging the tablet to 0% multiple times.
