[Q] Phone option missing

Hi yesterday i rooted my vibrant also installed one click lag fix, after reboot, i am missing the phone option (slient mode, data network mode, flight mode) when i hold the power button , the only option show (power off), also missing the screen lock when i press the button once, and home button not working.
Please help me with this
Thanks
[deleted]
nope not other rom install, all i did is the lag fix
should i just do a master reset without any rom install
That happen to me. Always do a backup before flashing. Also, make sure the backup took. Always keep atleast 2 or3 backups too. I learned a hard lesson not keeping more than one. Good luck

[Q] doing a back-up ? root first?

i have a bone stock ATT note with CLF6?
Im wanting to try a different ROM?
I realize that i need to do a back-up first.
Do i need to root before i do this back-up.?
thanks alot. .
ps... I cannot get this into recovery mode.
I hold down the power and volume up buttons, but all it does is vibrate off and on.
thanks again.
Can you get into download mode?
Sent from my Nexus using xda premium
First thing is to install cwm touch reconvey by using Odin. Put phone into download mode to do this. Then boot into cwm recovery by holding volume up and down and power all at the same time. Once it vibrates, let go of the power button while still holding the volume keys. Then create a backup to sd card ( external of you have one). Then go ahead and root by either flashing super user or any rooted ROM.
Oh yeah, to put phone into dowlas mode, hold volume down and power then hit volume up key when prompted.

All the info is in the general thread. Under" stickies" section. Its best you go there and read up.important info regarding Odin and the proper files are there. Look for the "All In One" thread.

You can root it, then run a titanium backup in order to backup all of the important data.
Also, under settings, there should be a backup option, which you could restore from the stock ROM.
After rooting, and then getting CWM or TWRP installed, you can do a NANDROID backup....which will allow you to back up essentially every bit on your device.
Note that I've never seen a ROM that required CWM, but there are ROMs that require, or reccomend TWRP. That might be the recovery of choice.

thank you for the replies..
now I guess that my next step is Rooting stock CLF6.
ICS 4.0.4
Have to find the link for that now.
Another question is, when , after rooting,
will that end any OTA updates?
meaning JB when it come out in the USA for AT&T.
thanks again
Yes that will end ota updates once you flash a custom ROM. But you can always return to stock later if needed and be angle to do any update that comes out.

To clarify, just rooting alone will not stop ota updates. It is flashing a custom ROM that does.

Link given is for rooting gingerbread. OP states that he has ICS. Bad info. If you want to root your phone then go here. It is the easiest method for gingerbread or ICS.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...y-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/
If you want to backup your phone you need to be rooted and/or custom recovery first anyways. To get into recovery you hold BOTH volume up and down with the power button. Release power button after text appears. Here you can do a complete NAND backup of your phone. This will backup your entire ROM except for your modem. If you install Titanium Backup or like app you can then backup individual apps or settings.

thanks for all the info..
and Ray.....
nice to run into you again..
you helped my long time ago to get my HTC HD-2 from T-Mobile up and running on ATT. Walked me thu it over the phone. Thanks again for all that.
Now whenever STILL... I go to car shows and look at GTO's.... I remember agoatamer!!!!
Thanks for remembering Jim. Goodluck with your Note. Phones have come a long way since the HD2.
By the way, agoatamer... I I see your sig says " Samsung I717R Note
UXLF4 Rogers Deodexed Stock ICS ROM"
You like that ROM.... I What's so special about that one? I do you recommend it?
Thanks..
Well, other than my phone is a Roger's Note..... I prefer the stock build. Tethering is enabled by default. I can switch between 3G, 4G, and LTE. Much easier to unbrand compared to the ATT version. Stock apps are inverted by default. nothing really fancy. Just nice and stable. I put it together myself but couldn't get the help into getting it together in an all in one installable zip. Sam.jh has a like version from Telus here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801689
Hopefully when JB is released he will deodex and zip that one up too.

[Q] How to go back to stock or make it look like stock ui.

My volume rocker is not working and i still have 14 days to return it/exchange and my phone is rooted. is there any way to un-root and DL a rom to make it look like stock?
I'm pretty sure there's like an Odin flashable file somewhere here that's fully stock. that's your backup, like how htc uses the ruu, samsung has the Odin file

I have the right solution for you and the best and working one install reboot menu from play store
Then it will ask for root permissions allow it then you will see reboot options one of them reboot download mode press on it then he will automatically reboot your phone into download mode without pressing on volume keys
Press thanks if I helped you

I realize I'll probably get flamed by a few people here, but the rest of the forum will agree with me.
You really shouldn't be flashing/rooting unless you realize how to undo everything you've done. Do the research to figure out what you're doing before you actually do it...and then you'd have the answer to this question before it was even asked.

Turn my friends note 2 into Tmobile note 2

right now my friend is using her verizon note 2 on Tmobile, just popping the sim and changing the APN makes it work great on Edge and 4G but it is stuck on the stock verizon rom and the backup program that verizon put on there keeps eating the battery even thought the app is off (went into settings and turned sync off),
she is on the most up to date software and can't root with out safestrap, but i am just wondering if there is a way to flash the stock Tmobile rom (just the rom no modems or anything) thru Odin? we just want all the verizon stuff gone to make it more of a tmobile phone.

Well there is no way to flash a T mobile firmware throught ODIN.. Unless you want a paper weight. Flashing another bootloader from another device is a very good way to make the phone not usable.
You can port a Custom T mobile rom but why go through all that to just get rid of some system apps. Just go into your system/app and priv-apps and delete the Verizon apps.
ba-syncservice-app-signed.apk is the app your looking for to disable sync function..
But I thought I had to have root to edit the system folder?

You do.. Sorry might have misread.. If you are not rooted than you can not change this.. Only way to turn sync off would be to go into stock recovery and do a factory reset.. When you load back up make sure that you UNCLICK "sync" Contacts..

can't root with out safestrap

What does this mean????
If she is on 4.3 than she is able to root her phone.. You saying safestrap and the latest software throws me for a loop.. The latest software is ND7 4.4.2 and there is no way to root this.. therefore no safestrap either..
Just making sure you know that root and a unlocked bootloader is to different things.. Safestrap requires root but not a unlocked bootloader..
Ok

Knox disappear from my device but exist in my notification bar! how to delete it

Hello guys, I am still consider myself new to rooting, I did it just to do some tests that was 2 months ago. I remember knox was so annoying in the notification screen, it just wont go away so I had to use Titanium backup to completely uninstall it for good. However, today, I realized sprint release android version 5 for note 3 so I decided to update my phone, everything went great except Knox it came back, I tried to disable it via application but that app is not exist in my device, I even tried to search for it, but it stuck in my notification bar!
Please if you have any idea about how to remove Knox from notification let me know it would make my day.
Hello again,
In case someone have similar situation, I downloaded Package Disabler free from Play store and it help to prevent Knox
Thanks
Why not just use Titanium Backup to freeze all Knox elements? Worked fine for me on OC5 update as it did on all previous builds

I do not have root after I updated my device and not willing to root it again for now, thank you for respond.
I'm confused...if you're 100 stock you should not be receiving any Knox notification.
When you ran Odin, did you boot into stock recovery and perform a factory reset? Only time you should see a notification is if you are running something (i.e. SuperSU) that would invoke that notification
