Does Google maps find your location? Cause the nav is part of that app.
The google maps app finds me where ever I am.. the nav doesnt ever get gps info. It hangs for hours never connecting. Navigation the blue arrow on maps..I get no step by step directions voice. But the map connects I can see destination and directions list..

Try either clearing data from maps app in app manager (the bigger of the 2 files) or uninstalling and reinstallation of maps. Try the first and see what happens.
I cleared google maps.. then deleted app reset phone then reinstall..I get google maps to lock my position but no navigational voice direction..I reasld somewherebto give mapquest a go..and mapquest is winner. ..for the momment

First things first, download gps status and see if you get a lock on some satellites and the data at the bottom refreshes, if not let us know.
which cleanROM? Weren't verizon note 2 users having problems with the univeral cleanROM and GPS? If so, I'd try the verizon specific cleanROM
Gps status no luck.. just hangs looking for sat signal. And its the 4.2 version of clean rom based off of international .. im cool with using map quest.. it works great. So does google maps just navigation sucks. Im stickin with the clean rom 4.2 pack for now. Just figured someone had a work around for no gps issue in nav. Thanks for responding guys

If you got nothing in GPS status then you have a GPS problem, not a navigation problem. Backup your rom, flash Beans, just get it far enough to download GPS status again, get a lock with all the relevant info at the bottom, then restore back to CR.
i was having this same exact problem, i switched to jelly beans now everything works fine

Yeah this. Idk how you're getting a maps lock and not a GPS status lock. But you need a solid lock for turn by turn to work. I was simply thinking you had a good lock. I always use GPS status to check lock and then proceed to use the others. What he suggested works. I did it back on clean rom 3.whatever and haven't had an issue since. However I also took Scotts advice and literally wiped everything about my phone when coming from beans. I'm talking Internal and external SD. Backed it up first of course. Somethjng between em doesn't play nice.

It works because maps will use the Cell towers and wifi to lock on alone, but many apps will require a true GPS lock (Ingress and the Nav app come to mind).
You don't have the experience or credentials to be claiming GPS is "broke". I hear this same stupid crap with every phone I get, and it's always someone like you.
It's not a Clean rom nor Note 2 issue. You're obviously doing it wrong. I don't see how some people have so many issues with phones. It's always noobs like you as well. Proof:

Man I understand the frustration...I do but there was a time even you didn't know jack about phones. Yeah maybe he should've searched but he didn't. No need to bash him so hard. Questions are how some people learn. Myself Included. I see so many high and mighty Devs who are too good to help people with problems yet have no problems bashing people. Its like the nerd in school who was a nobody and is now a somebody but with the worst possible attitude.
never claimed gps was broke, the phone just never picking it up,i never said i was a hacker or a phone programmer just wanted to get some phone freedom rom wise, thanks to the other guys (blackbass) and scott himself for helping out, i went to the verizon lite rom and it worked like a charm, i only brought it up here, because i remember reading awhile back in these forums, i honestly feel great that you took the time to root around in my profile, i feel better that you took the time to do that and not actually help, Blackbass you made a great call on deleting and reinstalling maps, did lock on faster to my local, but no dice on the navigation front.
its working now..maps +navigation thanks again all for helping

Getting Google "CLOUD" Music Sync working on the Fascinate (Froyo, not tested on 2.1)
Figured out how to get google music sync working on the fascinate and decided to share it with everyone!
Tested and working on DarkREVENGE v1 (and I assume v2) and Super Clean 2.8 however I suspect this will work on many roms and devices! doubt this will work on any 2.1 devices seeing as the APK is 2.2+ sorry for those of you running 2.1..
Now tested on MiUi Fascinate 1.2.25 and confirmed working!!
IMPORTANT: Your music must be set up like this sd/media/music if it is not located there it will not be uploaded to the cloud!
Known issue(s) You cannot manage your "cloud" just yet there is no web interface yet and i'm assuming this is still in the "testing" phase.
Now lets get to the fun!
Install this apk (adb push or install as a normal APK) make sure that Music.apk is deleted already if not go ahead and do that right now.
http://db.tt/tXHSuYH
Alternative Mirror
http://www.multiupload.com/PAYDTSPCYQ
You should see "Music & "Jumpertest" after installing.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
go to account settings and to your google account you should now see "Sync Music" PRESS IT! and let it sync.
When that is done go into your app drawer and open up "Jumpertest" click on the "Controls" tab
Don't forget to click the "Accounts" tab and check off your gmail account it should ask for permissions (you will see an upside-down triangle with a !) in the status bar.
Next click on "Start Peer" it should work IF you do get an FC try reinstalling the apk or maybe rebooting IF you get a "authtoken error" go back into account settings and click on "Sync Music" again and try again!
(if all went well you should see "Peer started")
Next go ahead and click on "Import Local Media"
(once again if all went well you should see "Import complete")
Now that is all setup and time to access your music on the "CLOUD"
Go ahead and open up the Music app
Press the "Menu" softkey on your Fascinate to bring up the menu popup and select "Library Options" and after that select "Streaming Only"
(If you are not a complete newb or illiterate) you should now see your music that is on the cloud! Yay for clouds
If it did not work this means you are likely incapable of following directions that a five year old probably could and you should not have a rooted device!
However if it does not work and you are 9000% sure you did everything correct please list what rom you are on and method of installing the apk.
Hope you all enjoy and give me thanks if you found this helpful
If you can't take the harsh sarcasm (not really) in this post then please get off XDA and do not attack me on this thread.. do you guys not have anything better to do? if you have nothing good to say don't say anything at all! Thanks.

Was pretty fast for me and the perks are being able to access your music from the cloud and bigger storage space than an SD card if you don't mind moving your music collection in "waves" to your SD card as I said this is not final but it's working and working well until we get something more "official"

Hey "bro" why don't you lay off your high horse. DiGi is learning and progressing, not seeing anything come from you, but yet you want to sit here and say he has an attitude??
1. If you felt the need to look at this post (not being a mod) then this interest you, so shut it and if you dont like it, then move along.
2. IRC is a place for chat and learning hint the abbreviation "Internet Relay Chat". It doesn't say "yes were going to be nice to you and hold you hand", once again get off your high horse.
3. Quit being a **** on the forums, yeah you're cool. How about this, quit dishing hate on others work, unless you take time out to work on something your self, and then have tons of questions asked to you, and see how frustrating it becomes. I highly doubt he was being a "****" or "juvenile" about anything, it's just the way you seemed to take it.
At this time, there is not a way to get it from your desktop to the cloud. Seeing as how you are not even supposed to do this yet..... that feature has not been implemented lol
BTW, anyone calling digi bad names is a complete douche, I <3 digi, he has never acted like an ass or anything that I have EVER seen..

You would have to plug your phone into your PC, transfer the music to the proper folder you have setup for this app and then synch. All music in that folder will be uploaded to Google's servers so you can access it at anytime from the APP.

I was telling a coworker that I was wanting to get a GPS navigation app that stores the maps so it doesn't use data for my SGS2 that I plan on buying on black Friday. Anyway, he emailed me an APK file for a free GPS navigator and told me that should work, but that I would have to enable installing apps that didn't come from the market place. I was wondering if someone with the ability to restore their phone if this messes it up or doesn't run properly.
The app is uploaded at megaupload.com/?d=CN4NEUHF
Thanks for anyone who can help. If this doesn't work what is the best app that does this (I am in the US)?

I use Navigon. You download the maps to the phone so you can use it normally without using data. Maps are also broken down by state so you can only download the ones you need.
As far as installing apps from unknown sources, you can install it but make sure that it's compatible for the SGS2. If it's not compatible the phone will also notify you and then you will just uninstall it.
Just because an app doesn't come from the market place, doesn't mean horrible risk and destruction. For the most part, every app on the market is also hosted elsewhere on the internet. And when you install any app your phone will tell you everything the app has access to.
But as to your question I've always liked Maverick for offline maps. Everything that you view is saved to your phone. Plus it's compatible with a wide variety of maps, including all of google's (road, satellite, terrain, ect).
You can download entire areas and as many zoom levels as you want using other software. There's guides you can find online that tell you what to do.
Yes, alot of other map apps do that as well, but I really like how easy it is to use, able to make notes for locations, the compass on it, and how on the map itself shows very smoothly what direction you're facing.

I have been looking into a GPS navigation app that doesn't use data for a while now. I am in the US BTW. Can anyone upload some screenshots from Navigon and Sygic and CoPilot? I am told these are the best 3 but there are so many screenshots on the market I can't even tell which one is actually how it looks when navigating. I would also like to see screenshots of all the menus so I can see if each one has any features or options I may want. Thanks in advance for anyone who uploads screenshots!
I guess it's been awhile since I've used Maverick. Seems google doesn't allow them to use their maps for some reason. Guess I'll be looking for something else myself.

I really like how that looks. Do you ever have issues with FC? Is the $40 for this app for the USA just covering the initial download or do you get program and/or map updates? If so, is it for a year or what?

Also, I didn't notice, does it show your current speed while navigating? That is one of my favorite features of my Garmin and it seems so basic but I didn't really see it on there in any of the pictures unless I just missed it. Also, I notice your pictures are in portrait, will it work in landscape too?
The data usage isn't really that bad at all from the Google navi. I traveled from Central NJ to Buffalo NY using it and it wasn't bad at all.
I've tried all of them and I like Navigon the best. I still prefer to use standalone garmin so that I don't have to deal with taking out my phone and mounting it everytime I get in the car.

I would need to know actual numbers of data used. I only have the 200 MB per month plan and on average I use about 180 per month. So, I would need to know how many MB it might use for say, an hour trip. Like I said, I only have about 20 MB of wiggle room per month so I doubt data using GPS navigation will work for me.

I am too paranoid to leave my GPS hooked up anyway, I live in an apartment and I couldn't sleep at night if I left my GPS in my car just sitting in the parking lot waiting to be broken into. I live in a safe neighborhood, I just don't trust anyone.
Anyway, whether I am using a GPS or my phone I would be mounting it each time anyway so it would be a non issue. I could just leave the mount hooked up at all times and just stick my phone in there whenever I want to use the GPS navigation.

I do not have issues with FCs with this application. I'm currently on Unnamed 1.3.1 and as you can see from the screenshot, I have Use Internet Connection set to off with no problem. For pricing I suggest you contact them for clarification. I was able to download all the maps I needed but just decided to download the Florida Map. I think the Map automatic updates is another service they offer via the in app shop.
Yes, it shows your current speed and also shows the areas max speed allowed. Yes it does landscape, next time I'm on the road I will take more screenshots and post them.

When I hit Buy it comes back saying "Market Purchase is not available", so I guess for that feature you would have to contact them directly.
I can't believe how many Developers are blindly adding this stupid Google Now and breaking bluetooth Voice Dialing.
It has nothing to do with how well it was Ported from Jelly Bean.
Google Now breaks bluetooth Voice Dialing.
Please developers make it an option to add it, an option to Remove it or release two flavors with and without.
You are killing a lot of folks that feel bluetooth voice dialup is a mandatory function and renders the phone useless.
Even some Jelly Bean Nexus users are wishing they never took the Jelly Bean update.

I don't think you can just uninstall it.
Otherwise I would.
Things are rewired and need to be rewired back.
Some files include other mods as well.
I have tried.
FYI, you can get Bluetooth Voice Dialing back by going into
Settings->Apps->All->Google search->and DISABLE.
You will lose all Google Now features but at least you can get Voice Dial back over a Bluetooth Headset.

What's your problem. DB13 didn't know the answer and obviously you don't either.
Not sure what ROMs your running. But on some ROMs that Disable feature is greyed out.
On MikLate Rename System/App/Velvet.Apk to System/App/Velvet.Apk_OFF
On superLTE Rename System/App/GoogleNow.Apk to System/App/GoogleNow.Apk_OFF
On MeanROM the Disable works.
And for the Record I think GoogleNow is using up battery too.

SuperLTE is considering removing it and making it optional for similar reasons.
Mikey has made newer releases to help with Google Now battery life.

Yea except 2.9 was before the release that "improved battery life" version. Still 19 hours w/25% left, with medium/heavy usage. Oh yea I forgot, thats terrible battery life.
Mean 2.6 and higher have been nothing but butter, so not really sure what there is to beta test..
If you want to get rid of google now go to this thread and flash the zip under 'back to stock' then uninstall and reinstall 'talkback' from the market and bluetooth dialing and voice search will work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29756226
Edit: I'm running Bad Seed Customs Tranquility RLS1b and its baked in right now but in the next build it will be removed and made an add-on option. Super smooth Rom with lots of options and great battery life, definitely worth a spin.

Here's a link to a thread that might work as a temporary solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883895
It says to convert Google Now from a system app to a user app and then it will allow us to use a 3rd party voice dial app without disabling Google Now (Google search app) at all. I tried it on LiquidSmooth jb Galaxy S3 rom and it did let me choose which ever voice dialing app I wanted, but then I had troubles getting the 3rd party apps to use my bluetooth mic over my phone mic. I ended up using the app "Voice Control Full" for $1.99 because it had the option to force sound to a bluetooth device.

This was a pain in my ass too which is why I came snooping around the threads. I have mean ROM and let me tell you that google lady can't tell a phone number from a hole in the ground. My workaround for now is that I just put the voice dialer icon on the first screen and while I have to touch the icon on the screen to activate the dialer, it lets me use my bluetooth headset to speak the name. I didn't want to uninstall google now, because i like the functionality. So hopefully one of these days they'll push out an update that addresses this issue.
I just took the plunge and jumped on the leaked OTA (thanks to spc_hicks09 for the painless instructions and info). Kept root, updated easily. I know I'm new here but I figured I'd start this post to give some thoughts and ask you all what other quirks, improvements, or missing features you've noticed in the new Jelly Bean update.
Here are some of my personal observations so far.
I noticed this morning that there were no more rising alarm sounds for the alarm clock so the thing blared at me this morning. My girlfriend was off today and wasn't too happy. Sure I can download (and pay) for an alarm clock app (hate ads), but it's annoying when they remove a perfectly usable feature from a new build.
For anyone curious, it's well known that FoxFi isn't working for mobile hotspot but I've confirmed that the free WiFi Tether app works with root to connect my Nexus 7 (using auto profile). I am getting 4G speeds on the Nexus 7. I have not tried it on a Windows laptop yet. Occasionally the app will have a problem starting up tethering, but a reboot of the phone clears things up and it works fine.
Initially Google Now said I needed to update, but I got an error being unable to update Google Search saying it was incompatible with my device. I cleared the data in the Play Store app and was able to update it successfully.
Boot up sounds are much louder. Not a big deal, but annoying if you decide to reboot your phone at work. I know what it is, does my phone really need to scream DROID! at me when I boot up?
I've heard people say the opposite, but my radios are working much better. There is less delay when switching from 4G to 3G and back. When you're moving around, it seems to acquire new cell sites faster as well.
Overall the phone appears MUCH faster/smoother and it doesn't get choppy or freeze up like it did before. It feels almost as fast as my Nexus 7 so it's not just hardware. Project Butter is doing its thing and doing it much better than ICS.
I have not had it long enough to comment on battery life yet.
The Razr doesn't have lockscreen widgets like other Jelly Bean devices? Maybe I'm missing them somewhere but I haven't seen the option to enable them.
I will update with more impressions the more I play around with it.
Lock screen widgets are in 4.2 but not in 4.1.2. Same with quick settings and photosphere

Escalating alarm sounds were a welcome addition when ICS hit, but I still liked the GB alarm clock the best. Now trying "Alarm Clock Plus."
Do not like Google NOW for voice search AT ALL!. Slow to activate, inaccurate results for voice dialing, and no "try again?" when it does mess up. Have to manually re-start. I want the old voice dialing back.
I also want the Voice Search to work like the old system when I say "Call..." and a local business. The old system dialed immediately, or, if confused, gave you a list of options. NOW pulls up the record then you have to hit the button to dial the number.
EDIT: OK, this seems to be working. I may not have been waiting long enough for the "built-in-pause" that was present, but more visually apparent in the old system.
I also had to update Google Search, as each time I started it, it thought it was the first time, and would go through it's "setup tutorial."
Boot up sounds were annoying, but I'm running RAGE ROM now, and no startup noises. Not sure if the ROM removes them or if my problem with the ROM upgrade (long story) caused it. Either way, I'm glad they're gone.
EDIT: If you use Root Explorer to navigate to /system/media/audio/ui you can rename (or delete) the startup ".ogg" files.
Operation does seem smoother and faster generally.
Battery life seems about the same for me, but my usage varies wildly form day to day, so it's hard to gauge.
I've read elsewhere that the SQL hack is the only way to get reliable tethering.
Andy
Your phone does not need to scream at you DROID! Just silence your phone before turning off and it is gonna be quiet.

Firstly welcome ...
I too am a curious mind like u and took the plunge...believe me..I've cancelled all my plans to sell of RaZr..(was gonna but low end WP8)
Anyways...
Here are some of the things I've observed...
The page to page scrolling is fantastic...and I meant FANTASTIC!
so is going from home > App drawer and back.
I really like the feature of customizing the app drawer...I can pick the apps I want and put them in one folder (though I'm told this existed way before JB):

UPDATE Aug 13: The app has been removed from the playstore AGAIN
UPDATE JULY 31st: The app has been restore in the playstore, it seems as if the dev was not lying and has kept its promise
Well, the app has been taken down. I contacted the gev through email, facebook and G+ and he never answered. Samething happened to a few members so i have taken my issue with the boss (Google) and they were extremely fast to refund me. Literally 10 seconds after I clicked submit issue, they sent an email confirming me my complaint was accepted and the refund has been made. GREAT!!!
I would not request a refund for an app taken down unless i had issue with it, which i did, so because the dev never answered, here is how to do it for yourself if you feel you've been abandoned.
Log into your google account https://play.google.com/store/account and go to "My Orders and Settings"
Look for SmartRemote and hit "Report a problem", then select "I'd like to request a refund" and give them a brief explenation. Also, if the app serves you, please don't do this, do this only if you're having issues that the dev obviously wont repair because he has, as far as i know, abandonned us.

}
Then, check your email and within 10 seconds i got this email:
Why was it taken down? Last I checked it was working flawlessly for me...

i'm not sure why, it's really hard to know when the devs cut all communication and doesn't tell anything to anyone. In any case, the apps works fine, just struggles with my specific devices and the dev promised it would be updated to work for my TV and AV but they never did and they stopped emails about 2 weeks ago. So got this refunded and bought TouchSquid which so far works just like i want it too, also it's much more sophisticated and for a limited time it's 12$
What a letdown. It was such a great app!

i had issues with this app on my s4. after selecting an action, lets say the volume up button, the app would continually trigger the IR, even if i wasnt pressing the volume up button anymore. this was obviously very annoying and required a phone reboot to clear everything up. this happened every time i used the app. the IR would continue flashing after the first button tap.
i've been using samsungs watchON. it took 15 seconds to set up my tv and uverse box and the remote works flawlessly. also, its free. much better remote functionality and layout.
This app pretty much sucks on my S4. A lot of the buttons are useless and when I try to use the center button that is usually associated for "enter" or "ok", it never works ever.
Requested a refund but it said they were unable to give me a refund. Another let down. Bah!

Really I think it might be because it's stupid powerful. I can walk into any store control/cable TV's walk into a bar etc just total havoc. And it don't just work on TVs. Also those that have issues with it still issuing IR commands when it's not on. Disable. Air gestures and the Dynamic Option it will not do that anymore. :good:

Doesnt make sense really as touchsquid allows all the same functions. I mean the watchon app bare minimum allows you to mess with just about most tv's in bars and stores.
