what to do ? which screen u recommand there cheap one for 16$ in ebay someone tried it ?
my phone felt from not high i block the fall with my shoes and still the screen cracked :crying:
however everything is working
touch.... lcd didnt damaged
thx for any help and sorry for my english
You might be better off leaving it as is. When my screen cracked I found a few threads about replacing it and it messed up a lot of people's phones, leaving the touch screen not working properly.
There was one posted as a tutorial, a search should find it. It might be in the General section rather than this one since it was from before they split out this Q&A section.
if you plan on leaving the cracks i would suggest on getting one of the cheap "screen protectors" that you can find at your mall. that way if the glass gives it wont take your finger with it. IMO

I feel your pain
my screen is also pretty severely cracked. i did purchase a replacement digitizer for when it no longer works. for now, im leaving it alone because of the risk of it not working properly. i did put on a screen protector and even went so far as to put it in an otterbox too, to protect it. my advice is to do the same of similar. it seems the best course of action until the digitizer doesnt work properly anymore, then try fixing the screen.

What's to check? The screen is cracked, there's no missing that. They won't warranty a phone with a cracked screen.

Like I said before,
100 point inspection means they check to see if there are at least 100 working pixels.

The reason you send in your phone does not matter to the warehouse that receives them. They just scan the barcode, which then shows as received in the Verizon system. The warehouse determines what needs fixed and fixes it. Condition of the phone isn't an issue.
So you call tech support. You tell them a speaker blew, which is manufacturer warranty covered = free replacement. You send in the cracked phone. You don't get charged. Profit. Got it?
And I did this within the last month. It works. Always has. From my Eris days to today, always works...

First question the CSR asks is if there is any visible sign of use. IE cracked screen, buttons missing ect.
I don't see how you can get around a crack screen.

Doubt that they have refurbs already so you are most likely going to get a new or returned one at worst
I really need to ask if you had any kind of app on the phone to locate it i.e. Lookout.?
This is what I am scared of happening to me, so I know there are other apps that will allow for more locating options then Lookout, the cost is worth it.
Especially if they can retrieve it. I am thinking it may be in a lost and found closet at the train or bus terminal. Or some goon has it, and sold it for drug money.. lol
Never mind my mistake

Yeah I didn't have any tracking app on it. Now when I get my new one that's the first thing that I'm downloading. I guess you learn from your mistakes :/
I wonder when you lose a phone like that does ATT shut it down so it can't be used on their network anymore?
I guess it would still make a nice wifi mini tablet.

Also, I'm guessing there are more people returning these phones because they find it too big or they brick it or something than there are people breaking and losing them and getting replacements. So I would say you'll get a refurb that is in like new condition.

You know I was thinking about that. When someone finds my phone can they use it as a wifi only device without being found out. I would hope ATT could track it down someway so I could get it returned to me....but who knows right!!! If they sign into the android market to download a app can I some how trace it to them or is that as impossible???? I hope they are stupid enough to put a sim in it and try and use it!!!
Received my N3 today. Unboxed it, removed the back, and inserted the battery. I then went online and read too many posts to count stating that the call quality is horrible and that Samsung is considering a recall. That was enough for me. I called Sprint and they reluctantly agreed to send me a return kit. Terrible. So, I packed it up and then noticed something on the floor. The stupid little plastic camera guard had fallen off the phone when I removed the back, and one of the stupid itty bitty feet had broken off. I put it back in the best I could. It's Sprint's problem now.
I'm a phone geek, but I don't think I want this phone. That plastic poc will break constantly.
Maybe the S5?

Every manufacturer has product defects, consider yourself unlucky.
I bought my Note 3 directly from a Sprint Retailer, went in and said "I'm a developer, don't **** me around" and I spent an extra hour in the store configuring my device and testing its functionality before I purchased it. Your dollar is your vote. Make it count.
How would be my life if I return every single item I own because I heard others saying bad things or complaining about it? Maybe I could living under a rock right now.

Mine has been fine so far. I have had a few call issues here and there but it's not constant and not something that makes my phone unusable like some people have stated so I honestly don't think that part of it is the phone itself or Sprint. I personally think it's software related. This is a whole new device for Sprint as far as Samsung goes as well as a new OS too. Things are way different than previous Samsung devices. Not even the S4 shipped with 4.3. In a nutshell I have no complaints here and now that I am seeing some LTE popping up around places in Phoenix AZ that I spend time, I'm pretty happy with it.

How did you get them to give it to you? What was your reasoning with them?
I had a few dropped calls and so I called sprint and talked to them for about an hour. And the supervisor assured me that in one week tops the problem would stop. They were updating the towers here and I gotta say It stopped the next day and no more problems at all. And as for a lot of people having these problems sprint is updating their entire network so there will be dropped calls and bad quality here and there. I'm glad i got a good unit I'm loving it.

Hey guys,
I've had this one since release and had to do sober the phone warranty exchange due to degrading battery
I have a skid mark on thebottom right coroner. Yes, it's on top of the corner just smoothed it out or rounded it a bit. I was wondering if this will get a $690 fee imposed.
It's also S-Off.
Against company policy, instead of giving me silver like my current phone she asked which one I wanted and i said black.
Would they impose a fee for this, if so can I get it overturned?
I was thinking I would RUU it and I'd be fine.
Anyone who's been thorough this or heard of it let me know. Thanks.

Not sure about the skid mark on the bottom corner but my original black one had issues with freezing randomly so when I called for an exchange they had none in stock so they shipped me a silver one. This was over 3 months ago and they haven't charged me anything even though the color change is against company policy but as long as they initiate it you shouldn't have an issue. However not sure what they will say about the skid mark and say that is physical damage.
I replaced mine for a bad speaker. They asked if any cosmetic damage, mine had none at the time except a small scratch on the power button/IR window. I know they are inspected when returned, but have no idea how picky they will be or how good that "inspection" really is. Probably depends on the inspector you get that day. :fingers-crossed:
Question: Mine is rooted, running a leaked ATT ROM and when you boot it, the red warning pops up from HTC. Would that be an issue for a warranty replacement? How would I rectify that?
Relock the bootloader and flash it with an RUU and you'll be fine.
Is there a guide anywhere for doing so?
fastboot oem lock, run RUU from HTC, done. A lot of people get it wrong, you are not "flashing' a RUU, the RUU is a "Rom Update Utility" stand alone package.
Just an FYI. If your doing a warranty exchange and they transfer to the warranty dept. They will make you download an apk for you to install. This apk let's them look at your system. It first freaked me out cause I was on a full convert GPe. But they didn't say anything about it and went ahead with the exchange. Still a little bit unnerving when they say "please download the apk with the link I'm sending. This will allow me to take a look at your system except for videos or pictures"

Warranty Replacement Woes
I called up the warranty department to get my phone replaced, due to the camera. They did the same ninja snoop APK file (which I still have) but I was smart and put the bootloader/firmware back to out of box state, so I wasn't worried. Weird, though. I don't know what they wanted by doing that.
Anyway, I got the replacement unit in 2 days, which was nice. The warranty department said I won't be able to tell the difference between a new phone and a "Certified reconditioned" phone. PSSH...
The screen of the replacement model wasn't as bright and had a yellowish cast to it, compared to my other phone, which I was not happy with. The top speaker also crackled when you play any sound through it. I called them back and they are now sending me yet another one. It's nice that they are trying, but I'm not going to trade one problem for another.
The one they did send out to me had a night/day difference with the camera though. I held both of them up to take a picture of my Christmas tree. Side by side, the screen of my old one was purple and the new one was nice.
I just wish I can get this whole thing sorted out

I had a similar experience at my local Device Support Center location. The "like-new" refurbished phone they wanted to give me had chips and dents in one corner of the bumper/aluminum bezel, over a dozen swirled scratches in the screen, and two very deep scratches in the screen that clearly made it to the digitizer. The polyurethane bumper was also really greasy and worn out. It was conveniently the only one they had in stock. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty offended that they tried to pawn it off on me.

Oh man...Yeah, nothing like that with this one. I mean, cosmetically, the replacement was better than mine!! I had a GAP-GATE phone, but just dealt with it because whatever. The screen and the audio would have bothered me more than a defective camera.
Got replacement no. 2 from FedEx...it's worse than my current model! Third time is the charm, I hope. Their standards suck! I seriously put the three phones side by side on full brightness and each display was seriously a different color. Wtf...my original has a blue cast to it, replacement 1 was yellow, and replacement 2 was purple.

Sorry to hear that. There's a thread somewhere in the HTC One subforum (non-AT&T forum) that talks about the three different screens used in the phone based on its manufacture plant; it sounds like you've had a go at all three.
I too am now having a replacement One shipped to me via AT&T. I'm praying it shows up problem-free, but after the ridiculousness of the Device Support Center trying to give me a replacement that looked as if it fell off the roof of a moving car, I'm not holding my breath.
Oh! They had me run the "snoop APK" as well... except it kept crashing on my One. I'm not sure if I should suspect the fact that I was running the official GPe RUU upgraded OTA to 4.4 or not. Thankfully, the guy I was talking to was a nice guy, and after 4 or 5 attempts to run the APK without crashing, he went ahead and pushed the warranty claim anyway.
I wouldn't recommend anyone else trying to use this "excuse" though, since he could tell I was legitimately trying to launch the app each time. It would just crash during authentication, after he had made a connection to my device.

I would caution against them. They did return my phone in a working condition. However, they clearly have a very poor understanding of how to properly run a business and you should count out any kind of customer support during the process.
First off, when you send off your phone, you're given a guarantee that the phone will be finished within 4 days and shipped back no later than the 5th day it's been there. great! Except when the 10th day rolls around and you haven't heard a thing from them. So you think "I'll just give them a call and see what's up." Only now you find out that they don't answer the phone. They sometimes do, but that's after calling back several times throughout the day. You finally get them on the phone and they apologize for not getting your phone sent out and tell you it's going through testing and it will be shipped out the next monday at the latest. Wednesday rolls around and still, you hear absolutely nothing from them. Then begins the process all over again. You have them promise to call you if it's not sent out and the person on the phone personally guarantee's to call you if it's not sent out. Guess what? Another promise broken.
My 4 days took just under a month. It's still a small business and it seems like it's being run by a few people who do everything. If they had told me that it would take a month in the beginning, I would have been okay. Instead, they choose to extremely over promise what they can't even begin to deliver on. The entire thing felt like I was getting scammed and I was never very certain that I wasn't until I got my phone back.
Once again, I did get my phone back and it does work well. My screen sometimes doesn't work now for some reason but I haven't actually tested to make sure it's the rom that's not working. If you do decide to go with them, I would take any guarantee they give you with a grain of salt.
I believe the JTAG repair itself was ~$60 but my logic board was supposedly also bad so it got bumped up to $100 in the end. If I had to do it all again, I would probably just buy a new logic board on ebay and replace that for ~$60-70 bucks myself but it's not something I thought about at the time.

I will say I got mine back and the touch screen wasn't workin. They wanted me to ship it back so they could look at it I took it apart myself and one of the connectors for the touchscreen wasn't connected so I fixed it but they didn't test my phone out before they shipped it back. So I would advise against using them.

Im going to stick with my original answer of I DO recommend MobileTechVideos JTAG service! That means I ENDORSE their service.... They were very detailed about how to correspond with them, I had no difficulty in this WHATSOEVER. Provided tracking on my phone. Slow return service nets you exactly what you pay for. Want it back sooner.... pay the postage and take it up with USPS or UPS or whoever is handling your parcel. MobTech is doing YOU a service with service options to fit the pockets of different people... Don't H8 cuz you went light on your payment decision.... Mobile tech videos adhered to the outline they setup 10 fold IMHO, On BOTH transactions I made with them....
I am NOT a paid spokesperson for MobTechVid.
Just a guy that would use them again (God Forbid) if the need arises.

Thanks for the detailed response. I don't think I'll be using them as I'd be too worried my phone would never get returned. Time to look elsewhere. :crying:

Ya I read it again.... Go to Mobtechs website and try again bro.... you cant complete your transaction with out attaining exactly all the info you need to track your phone and it states clearly you pay base amount u get base postal service.... you pay rush , it comes back a day later than rush service. both time it was in their shop for the same amount of time.... but I payed different returns and slow was slow, speedy was -speedy. When they charge your card... they have provided all info on EVERYTHING you will encounter until it comes back to you.... never strayed from it once... So Stop ****in your phone up and JTAG wont be needed....
And OMG..... We have multiROM now? Im so excited....!:fingers-crossed:
So my 3 week old ultra that i am so carefully with screen cracked putting the phone in my pocket tonight i am so sad and angry how can the screen be that easy to break wtf.

Oh my, thats the reason why it is adviced not to put it in pocket and always use flip cover cases for protection
That sucks. They don't seem to have the strength you would expect. Lots of then have done banana impressions: the glass often remains intact but the touch sensor snaps and they end up curved somewhere in the middle.

This one is almost dead center cracked and touch is gone so its pretty much dead which puts me out a phone for looks to be 3 weeks.
you must be one fat ass (seriously)
I've put my ultra in back ass pockets dozen of times, sitting on hardwood chairs, sofas to carpet and the worst thing that may have happened it that I've bent the frame. but i twist it back to normal
same goes for other pockets.

kinda of a **** reply but nope and far from it, yea i am 6'3 but not fat lol. It was in pocket for just long enough to make it to my car was shocked it was broke.
I stood on mine, spider webbed the whole screen. Thankfully my phone company offered insurance it cost $50 excess to repair. They are pretty easy to crack though. It's the only worry I have and the reason I pay $8/month to insure it. First phone I bothered to do that with. Still have a spider webbed semi-functioning HTC One X that will never get repaired due to cost.
I won't like the OP as that seems wrong - we need a sympathy button..
Update to this sent phone off to Sony they covered it under warranty I just got it back no charge and brand and looking band new again. I was shocked when it just showed up lol.

Do you have the number you used to call Sony? I am in a similar situation. Phone was in my pocket and cracked. Is there a repair center I can call? When you contacted them what did you tell them? that it was in your pocket and it cracked?

They've told me that either they fix it or they call me. So I'm hoping for the same that happened to you - no call. ☺

thanks!! Also was your device unlocked and rooted when you sent it? I know Sony is cool with us unlocking the bootloader and all, but I am wondering if I should try and put back to stock before I ship back.

Also did you guys ship back in the original box or just a nice secured package? I have the original box, but worried if I ship it off I won't get the original back.

Okay thanks. I think I am going to just pack it in a small box with a lot of bubble wrap. I don't want to risk losing my original box. Just wondering as well how they will ship it back. lol. I went through this process with ASUS with my Nexus 7 once. Seems like it might be the same way. Ship the phone off, told will get contacted, hear nothing for 4 weeks or so, have phone shipped back completely fixed with no charge.
