Hi there, a long time reader of this forum. First time posting and grateful for any advice please?
Will keep it brief, Galaxy S3, phone works but black screen. Cannot see or do anything with it but can hear it working and see notification light etc. About to send it in to be repaired by Three UK. They have advised me it will be reset and lose all data. I obviously don't want that to happen but I've been either too (a) stupid or (b) lazy to back up before, take your pick which one.
Question is, is there any way I can back up now without being able to work the screen? Can I view the screen and control the phone on the PC somehow? I've searched other threads and found a mention of androidscreencast but it seems that is for rooted phones only? Mine is standard stock Three UK firmware, never been touched etc.
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated folks, thank you.
Teamviewer quicksupport. You'll have to kind of guess the location of the notification and the app etc though. I know there's yhe adb backup option if you wish to try it.
Lemme add to this when I get home. Will try figure out whereabouts you need to touch to get the app set up. Don't try downloading it yet.
[Edit] tried it and it won't work. Too much typing and sharing code involved to see it work properly. I guess you have the adb option left.

Is there an APP out there where you can have complete control over your phone via the internet that doesn't require: you to have your phone present, wifi..usb..etc., I want pretty much have full control over my phone if end up leaving it somewhere or forget it at home. Something I'd like to see is as long as it is connected to the internet, either by way of 3g/4g/wifi, i can lock my phone, send messages, look up recipients, make it run an app. Literally full control if possible. I tried looking and i have found nothing like this. the only ones that were close, i actually needed the phone on me.
thanks!!
Check out MobiUcare:

I don't know if it will let you run apps but it does do somethings like toggling, photos and recording.
Why would you want this?

that works from some things. I wonder if i can at least use my phone to send sms or access files from it and contacts...
I have a bad habit of misplacing things, including my phone which I use for everything. I work an hour away from home so I cant just go and grab it. So it would be nice to be able to access it, get a clients info that i have on there or be able to still communicate with it through web access from where ever i am.
does anyone know of any others that may work?
I haven't tried it, but maybe remote phone manager? You might have to use it in conjunction with a program like tasker or AutomateIt if there are things that need to be done on the phone to accept the connection. Just a thought.

Hi folks,
i just googled my ass off, thinking someone must have had the same idea that I just came up with. Unfortunately to no avail.
Is it possible to run some of the stock kindle apps on other devices?
The reason I'm askin is that I just saw my dad usin his KFHD7 calendar application and I liked it better than any other calendar app I've seen for Android.
Could anyone provide me with an apk? Does the kindle even use APKs for its stock apps? My father is unfortunately not a root-guy, so I cannot get the files from him. I'd really like to try it on my Asus tablet and on my HTC One X which both have similar display resolutions.
Thank you very much in advance guys, really appreciate your efforts.:good:
EDIT, see below: Answer is No. Apps do FC instantly. Please close topic

Don't know but I've zipped up a few (Calendar & Email) if you want to test them, not sure if they rely on other resources or APKs?

@persano: I'm afraid I don't really get what you're trying to bring across - are you saying you backuped your kindle-apks and could provide me with the calendar? I'm not sure...
No offence intended - might be a langauge thing...
edit: @Gilly10: Thanks, I'll try them out right away!! :good:
edit2: Jeeeezz, seems as if my provider is slowing down media fire on purpose. couldn't even load the webpage on my pc. had to use my phone to get there. now the download of 10ish mb is taking ages. i hate it. 81% and pending /rant
OK. The file finally arrived.
The good thing is: My question's answered now.
The bad thing is: The answer is 'no'.
App FCs instantly, no matter if it's installed by tapping it or if it's put into /system/app with appropriate permissions.
Tried it on an HTC OneX with a custom Jelly Bean Mod. Could install it, couldn't start it.
Tried it on an Asus Transformer TF101 with Stock ICS. Couldn't install it at all (package name already in use).
Thank you for your quick help guys!

no no and no, i said that my kinlde work without them but other device wont work with them,
Is there an Android app that monitors your cell phone and how it is used? I am looking for a program that will log when my phone is unlocked, what apps are used, what messages are read, what pics are sorted through, etc.
Sometimes throughout the day I have to leave my phone around the house or at my desk and if people are trying to access it, I want to know about it and what they do on it. I tried googling it and I found one or two apps but they did not do what I wanted them to do. Thank you!

try gsam battery monitor
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm&hl=tr
sometimes it might give wrong results if the sensors are allowed in calculations but you can exclude them from options.
EDIT: LOL I got it SO WRONG. Sorry...
have you tried the app from the market called "vault"?
pretty sure in the full version it log unlock attempts and even takes pictures with your front facing camera of anyone trying to unlock your phone
Fingerprint lock and it's done - no unauthorized access possible. One reason why I'm sticking to GB.

Hi, basically the glass smashed on the front of my S3 so i decided to try and fix it myself. Stupidly I managed to break the amoled screen underneath so I now have a phone (that works and turns on) with just a black screen. I can still answer calls by pressing one of the volume buttons but that's pretty much it.
I could really do with finding a way to control my phone from my pc so I can install apps, check emails etc (just until i send it off to get repaired). But this seems to only be possible through rooting the phone.
Reading through some of the tutorials on rooting it seems you need to give permission to go into download mode etc, and you need to be in usb debugging mode (which my phone isnt).
Im just wondering if there's any workaround to this, or if there's any software out there that will give me full control of the phone without having to launch an app or touch the screen at all. I know it's a long shot but it's worth a try!
Thanks in advance!
There are a number of broken screen posts use search.
A clue use ADB
Root will void warranty .
jje
i think airdroid does not need you to be rooted... but since you cant see your screen... thats gonna be hard

Yeah that's the problem, I can install the app from the web store, but it needs to be opened before it'll work - although I do have a hdmi output lead which could make things easier?
oh if you have hdmi out, then it will be so much easier.
or you can use
Code:
adb shell
am start -n com.sand.airdroid/com.sand.airdroid.ActivityName
not too sure about the activity name though

Oh cool! Im a complete noob on this so how would I got about that?
I have a stock VZW Galaxy S10 Plus purchased from Verizon, after an update to may Android security I noticed close to all my apps now had permissions to modify system, as well as many switches "Greyed out" and certain functions trying to force me to use WiFi. I have been dealing with it for over a month, in recovery the text at the top is displayed 2 times. And at the bottom it says Missing 2fs file... I have factory reset the phone more times than I can count, and with a root folder spy app I am able to see some folder that I am pretty sure should not be in a stock rom. (Lazy script) ... it was showing enterprise billing , and other things....
Things changed after using Verizon sw app connect to my PC. But I am sure the problem is still there.
T
I know **""this is not Possible """** is the standard response. Verizon was no help, Samsung sent me to **UBreak I fix** nothing changed. And the last option was to send it in to Samsung..... I want to know what/how it happened. I always have my phone with me. I am happy to share any screen captures, and I'm trying to post some screen recordings of me scrolling through the folders on my phone. I also have trace logs. But not even sure how to read it.
This is wrecking my life . More that the Covid shut down. .....
I want to find out how it was done, just replacing the phone will not satisfy me anymore.......
Oh, I also have 2 Sledge, And 2. Snote3.... that now look like they have problems......
I know this is the place to find the answer. Help me get to the. *Root * of the problem??? Lol.... please.
