question for those who have changed a cracked screen - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Most of the replacement screens i am finding do not come with the double stick tape to reattach the new screen. What did you use to do this. I found several on ebay from 1mm-5mm.
Any other info you think would make this job easier please feel free to share.
Thanks
Bob

Replacement USB Flap Cover?

I broke the little flap off the top of my X10 (the bit that covers the USB port) while moving house the other week and was wondering if anyone knew where I could get one (Black)?
I know its not needed and has very little use but it looks a bit weird without it :/
no idea why sony didn't make the USB flush
try this
http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.xperia%20x10
I've have been without my usb cover for months now and I'm used to it at this point. I've looked all over and unless you're going to buy a full new housing and pay all that money for a simple plastic flap, you can't find it anywhere by itself. I've contacted sony and they said they don't make/have that cover as a replacement part, so if you want a new one, you have to send in the whole phone for repair and pay for it, so just get used to it.
In the event that you do find it somehow/somewhere, please update us.
Thanks and good luck.
that's a bit crappy, surely they can see that its gonna be a weak part and will break over time for many users?
oh well, guess I'll just get used to it, it isn't worth an entire shell for a new one
Mine broke today, after a month use.
Anyone got place where we can buy spare one ?

Looking at the pic there is no USB flap cover included.
The flap does show up for the white one. Is it included? I don't know.

good eye so it does. has anyone written asking?
Yeah that's weird the black one doesn't have one yet the white one does -_____-
Just a heads up for anything who want to try this, you need to remove the touch glass and re-attach to this new replacement one. I'm personally too scared to do it myself, but i've read about one person person who successfully did it, but got a little crack in his screen for doing so.

If u referred to the tiny USB cover u can stick back if u squize the parts from plastic clips with a hole in the middle and try to insert from a 45 angle.

Anyone want to see the inside of a thunderbolt?

Here is my sad story.....dropped the T-bolt for the first time and the digitizer cracked (had it in a case even). So I ordered a new one from repairs universe and they advertised that it would come with a guide. It did not, but the digitizer arrived quickly. So being an electrical engineer I decided that I could probably do it anyway.
I managed to get it apart and learn the hard way about a few things not to do. I manged to crack the LCD :-( I looked an no one has them :-(
My model used a Sharp lq043y1dx04 according to the sticker.
Anyway, I have figured out how to take the T-Bolt apart and figured that while I wait for a new LCD to become available I could at least share some pictures with the community. Being a new poster though, how would you suggest posting pictures?
***Update - photos are here, let me know if there are any that you would like to see better: s1098.photobucket.com/albums/g378/bscythe/ ***
Finally, I do not recommend anyone try this....you need to remove the LCD in order to replace the digitizer. The LCD is double sticky taped to a metal tray. To get the two apart you must do a lot of prying which can destroy the fragile LCD. If you are going to try it, I'd recommend a 4" wide razor used for scraping windows to insert along side the LCD to use to pry with. Be careful not to cut the ribbons though!
I'm a mechanical/acoustical engineer...
For pics, I would use photobucket...
As for the screen and tray, usually they are one piece, is there any kind of tabs through the board that look like they may hold the tray in?

I found the pictures very interesting. However, you couldn't pay me $250 to try to open one up.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I'm very interested in taking a look. As someone that has had their Galaxy S apart numerous times, anytime I can take a sneak peak I'm all for it!
Very cool. I love tear downs.

Me too!
Thanks for posting, OP.
Well I hope that my misfortune is at least helpful to others at some point since I could not find a teardown to reference before I tried fixing the phone myself.
I was able to get a new one from work (thank goodness for the large number of available upgrades on our account), but still plan to finish fixing this one when the LCDs become available. Putting it back together will be the easy part....I'll take better pictures during the process too.
Did you happen to notice where the cell and wifi antennas are located?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
They are located in the battery cover. If you take it apart you will see the metal tabs on the battery cover that connect to the phone for the antennas.
This is the first phone I have ever purchased insurance for. My nexus one took a few tumbles and survived but I would hate to try to replace this phone at retail price. At least ebay had nexus one pretty available for reasonable prices.
Good luck maybe you can still purchase the insurance through VZ.
repair
Well I dropped mine too and the digitizer is cracked bad. It still works and tape is holding it all in place but I need to get it fixed. I have taken apart laptops and fixed them and am a mr fixit in many departments, so I hope I can do it without cracking the lcd. I ordered the digitizer and am hoping to get some tips from you. Is there any way you put a step by step together that could guide me through this process? I would greatly greatly appreciate it.
I looked at the pics and with the beveled edges of the tray it seems to be very hard to separate the lcd from the tray with a flat blade. Does the LCD have to be detached from the tray? Also, since the bottom part of the case is a molded piece do the internals slide up and out?
Thanks
I'm sure that isn't the only antenna.

Broken Screen

Dropped my phone, cracked the glass. Phone works fine, but the glass is cracked and I want to replace it. Can't really find anything online, so I thought I would come here and ask you guys if you know where I can find a replacement for the cracked screen and if it is easy to replace. Thank you in advance for your help!
^eBay. I think the screen cost around $150 or so the last time I checked (last month).
OP.. connexion25 may be able to help you. Not sure if he is doing screen replacements but he very well might. Here's his website: mobiletechvideos.com
but contact him, ask him. See what he says
Did you hammer it? 'cuz I dropped a few times and screen was OK.
I thought it's built with Gorilla tough glass.

After screen replacement, screen touching lcd easily?

So I replaced the glass part of my rezound yesterday, pretty much successfully.
But now that I have it all together again it is very easy to push the glass to the lcd and make it display those weird colors around the screen. You know what i mean if you have ever pushed too hard on your touch screen, or lcd.
I have been doing some research and I think I was supposed to put something between the glass and the lcd, not sure what though or were to get it...
If someone could let me know weather or not I was supposed to put something between the lcd and glass, and then were i could get it, I would be very appreciative.
Did you replace the old sticky tape that adheres the glass to the lcd panel?

no... were can I order some and can I still use my phone in the mean time?
Check amazon... And you CAN use your phone, you just might end up with some dead pixels or something probably best to not use it or avoid touching the screen as much as possible

Thank you very much!
I was looking at the shipping on it and unfortunately its like 2 too 3 weeks. I after googling it i also found some people who said they used super glue, would that be a better option if I am living without anything right now? Or possibly cutting a regular piece of 3m tape? I could probobly get that done today.

I dunno about those methods, I can tell ya this: the roll is HUGE. Big as my hand spread out to fingertips lol. I could send some of my roll if ya want. Otherwise, there should be a US shipper, got mine within a week: "WirelessFinest" in Plano, TX.

Housing replacement tip.

Hello XDA
So I have a little dilemma here. I recently got a galaxy s5 from a friend and the housing and the glass is shattered but the LCD works fine so I ordered a housing replacement on ebay along with the glass part. but here is the issue of all the tech people that I can find in my neighborhood will fix phones and repair them and sell them no one is willing to put the housing in. but I don't want to take the risk as everybody else on my neighborhood.
So does anyone have a tip or an easier way to do this?

There are YouTube video's that show you exactly how to do this but it's NOT an easy thing.
Be careful and good luck!

Precisely my point those YouTube videos are that of a professional doing it I'm more of a amateur I guess. I fixed my galaxy s4 LCD because that opens from the back. But thats 5 is especially difficult because it opens from the front and trying to replace the housing means your wrist a 40 percent chance of atleast shattering the LCD which cost 150 on its own.
Hard decisions
