[Q] Best Gaming ROM 3d - HTC EVO 3D

Yeah, as the title says. I stopped using this AWESOME phone because I now have an LG optimus G. However, I wanna use this phone as a portable gaming device (might get gameklip/ps3 controller) because I know there's a lot of awesome emulators out there. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me take advantage of this phone's power in terms of performance for gaming? Batterywise, I don't mind if it can only last like 5 hours of straight gaming or even less.
1. What model of the Evo 3D do you have (CDMA/GSM, Evo 3D, Evo V, Evo 4G+) - EVO 3D GSM
2. What ROM are you currently running? King Cobra ICS
3. Is your Evo 3D rooted and/or S-OFF? S-OFF
4. What is important to you in a ROM (features, customization, performance, battery life, etc.)? Gaming Performance, Music Quality and maybe some decent battery life.
5. Do you plan to run a custom kernel to OC/UV or for additional features like USB host? ??? don't get this question
6. If you have a preference between Sense and AOSP ROM's please include that. - Don't mind, but I like the Senseless look
7. Indicate if you are looking specifically for a GingerBread, Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean based ROM. - Would like ICS, or Jelly Bean but I prefer performance over this.
8. Must have features that don't work on all ROM's like Wi-Fi tethering, WiMax 4G, and 3D camera. - Wifi Tether
+ kernel suggestions and any add-ons that will improve my phone's performance is greatly appreciated.
PS. I don't mind if I can't play games in SUPER HIGH QUALITY as long there's no lag.

1. EVO 3D GSM
2. Stock ICS, rooted, deodexed and zip-aligned
3. S-OFF
4. First and foremost battery, performance, music performance and gaming performance
5. Yes. Latest Anryl kernel, overclocked to 1,5GHz and undervolted
6. I personally prefer AOSP (CyanogenMod), but since the battery life and gaming performance is not that great at this moment, I stick to stock ICS. Apart from that, CM beats Sense on all fronts.
7. Some may argue Gingerbread is best for gaming, but I highly doubt that. IMO stock ICS is the best gaming ROM at the moment, until the devs improve the 3D performance in their CM10 ROMs.
8. Must-have features: everything besides 3D and Wi-Fi tethering. Those are not important to me.

AWESOME thank you!

I really don't know how to put cyanogen mod on my phone though :$ so yes, do you have any recommendations for a ROM that's exactly what you described?

I described what I'm currently using at the moment, and that's official ICS, rooted, deodexed and zip-aligned, with Anryl's latest kernel.

and this combination actually provides the best gaming experience?

Viper is pretty fast, at least on cdma phones it is.
Honestly not every one phone is the same, you are better off trying a multitude of configurations. Grab 5 different roms and 3 different kernels and try them all! A good game to test with is GTA III.

[Q] Best overall ROM/Kernel with customization

Hey everybody recently obtained a Samsung Vibrant, looking for the best rom with UV/OC capabilities and some mods, perhaps.
I flashed two I897's (rogers branded) with quite good results untill i had to make the download mode device due to a AT&T / Rogers compatability issue concerning a stock rom and then custom rom with a not-so-working kernel
So I'm asking for some assistence in the rom/kernel department here and what works best... I love big flashy roms but would take something bland if the battery life and speed was enhanced greatly speed over battery though and 3D wouldn't hurt either.
Cheers, Red Hazy
Most GB roms including CM7 and MIUI have terrible battery life but excellent performance. If your looking for superior battery life flash Bionix 1.3.1 with overstock 2.4.1 kernal. Otherwise try as many different roms as possible to see which one is best for your needs.

The GB/CM7 based ROMs can be fast, but the battery life is horrid. I'd recommend any of the 2.2.1 ROMs myself, either my new one (plug), or for something more proven, Bi-Winning V3. Combine that with Bali-X and you can overclock or undervolt to your heart and battery's content. If you (and your phone) can handle more than a 1.2ghz overclock, there are other kernels that can do that as well.

Any ICS Roms good enough for daily driver?

I would post this in the Development section, but I dont have enough posts yet.
Does anyone use an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM that is stable enough to use as a daily driver? I looked through the list but they all seem to be lacking data connection, gps, or some other main function that I need.
Is anyone running one of the ICS Roms as a daily driver?
Scotts 3.7 is fantastic! Only thing not working is data arrows. Do it! You won't regret it.

Cleanrom. Just switched over from gb about a week ago haven't had a problem yet and no way I would go back ics is sweet, mostly in gimmicky kinda ways(face unlock) but still improvement.
Joelz BAMF 1.0 is - been running it since Joel started development on it
The only ICS roms having data issues that I am aware of is the ones that are a true AOSP rom, such as CM9. To my knowledge all of the sense based ICS roms are working, with very few bugs, if any. I personally like Joelz desensed ICS rom. He should be updating in within the next couple days. I use it as my daily driver and have zero issues whatsoever.
id say go for clean rom and de-sense it if you want. the only thing keeping me away right now is all of the ugly green in the rom. once a blueish theme comes ill go for it. yes im anal about how my phone looks.

Actually, I was really looking for a stock ics Rom as I'm coming from a nexus s and I had gotten use to loving it.
I'll give Scotts cleanrom with sense a try.
What does desensed mean? Get rid of all the sense skin completely?

All of the ICS kernels stick at 384mhz or 1512mhz (or whatever max is) at all times, unless you apply the Conservative governor with a CPU control app (like SetCPU).
This causes
a) overheating (some report)
b) terrible battery drain (this is why ICS battery life typically is not as good as GB battery life)
c) great benchmark speed
Even with my extended battery, I'm not interested in this non-standard erratic performance and CPU clock speed situation.
When the kernel source is released, I hope that devs' work on ICS kernels is more stable than their work on GB kernels, too!
Anyway, the above explanation is why I will NOT be jumping to ICS again until a normally functioning kernel is available.
It's not worth it for facial unlock and Chome Beta. and...... yeah I have no idea what else ICS is good for!
Nils business sandwich, accept no substitutes. Always stable and clean, and issues are fixed quickly.

I do no not speak ill of other rom's but i highly recomend nil's p business ICS. It's smooth, stable , slightly themed and very well supported.
I have only tried Cleanrom ICS and NIL Business ICS. Both work good for me. Speaker phone works a little better on NILS. Tether, GPS navigation work on NILS. Didn't test GPS on CR but I assume it works. Tether works on CR. Battery is decent on both. They seem just a tad slower than gingerbread for me.
Apex launcher is nice for people that want a more AOSP like launcher.
Be careful of Mainversion if trying to switch back to a gingerbread rom from a ics rom though. If the Mainver is higher than a rom your are trying to switch too, you will have issues. There is a file here on the forums you can flash to set mainver lower before flashing a lower mainver rom I believe.
I'm using CleanRom 3.5. I don't have any notable issues. Tether works fine. Battery life is really good.

Thank you for the great info regarding the stability of ICS roms. I'm currently scoping out the situation for my brother who has a rezound and want to put something stable on it for him.
This is a huge issue and like you I will recommend he remains on gingerbread until it is worked out.

Guide for ICS ROMS available (updating with leaks and more roms)

Hey guys, I've seen that lots of people have been having confusion between the ICS roms and whatnot.
1. TMOUS ICS LEAK
Stock Sense 3.6 with Ics 4.0.3
2. Android Revolution HD 2.x.x
Same as TMO Leak only with improved performance and battery. There are NO visual changes whatsoever in what I've seen. Completely stock look.
3. Energy ROM build April 27 and forward
Based on TMO Leak. April 27 build is much like Android Rev HD, only with some tweaks put in by NRG. New build that is on the way is themed and has more tweaks. If you haven't used the Energy ROM before, expect a heavily themed ROM just like the earlier GB builds of the ROM.
4. Speed Run 2.x.x
Currently in beta testing. A senseless ROM, with ICS lockscreen and Stock ICS look. If I'm not mistaken, Sense launcher/Rosie is removed and replaced by another launcher, more specifically, Trebuchet or Nova for example, which are built on the Stock ics launcher with more features.
5. RevolutionizedNonSense
Based on ARHD 2.1.0. Similar to Speed Run, with much of Sense removed. Rosie replaced by Apex.
Hope some people can make good use of it

Can someone please post AnTuTu scores of the different versions. I am probably going to flash one of these (Energy probably as I am used to his GB ROM) soon as I am tired of all the TMobile crap, and I need the quick settings that NRG has in his version.
I am currently on stock ICS, rooted with ext4 installed. AnTuTu has given me scores around 6500 (last run was 6558) and I have seen someone on AndroidRev has a score of 6666. If any of these ROMs are significantly faster, I will go with that option. Anyone on Energy, please? I cannot post in the Android Dev section because I have never posted much here. But I am absolutely loving ICS so far, and might even try and get into development since I have a little bit of coding skills.

I hope u don't base which rom to flash by antutu benchmarks. Honestly, it doesn't take but 10 min to do a backup and flash a rom. I always download each rom and make a backup so I can just switch between backups. It's always best to try a variety and see what u like best.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense, and what I would normally tell other people too. I just want to change to something with a high score for a few days, to see if it really feels any snappier, before flashing Energy for regular use .

Not to whore out my rom but.. well wait, I kinda am.
You can add RevolutionizedNonsense to the list- it is based on Android Revolution HD(which has a ton of tweaks you should note on the OP) but has all of the sense removed, and uses aosp(Lockscreen,Browser, mms, gallery, email, calendar, etc) a lot like the speed run does(I just chose a better name )
But so far it has been super smooth, everything works.. and because it was built on top of mike1986's Android Revolution it is snappy as hell, and so far really good on battery life.
Really, I couldn't ask for a better rom unless I made it myself.. which I did.

I've tried both and like both. Mean is mainly a stock look with a lot of under the hood improvements. Mikvirgin has different improvements (including Leedroid tweaks which you can flash separately in Mean) and a nice skin. I give the edge to Mean in terms of battery and speed, Mikvirgin in terms of look.
Personally, my daily is Zr3dx. It is smooth due to always on dual core and the theme is beautiful. Battery life is pretty good too. I also might try the latest Nocturnal tonight because their rom is great too.
So many great ics roms for the 3d it is too hard to choose. I just bounce around as devs release updates.

What is YOUR best ROM for gaming?

NOTE: This is not the usual "what is the best ROM?" thread. This is a collection of personal opinions of gamers like myself to find out what current ROM works best for you and is not based on just a benchmark number. Please include your reason why and any relevant information that you would like to include.
Viper 3D
I am not absolutely sure, but when I experimented with Viper 3D ROM from Team Venom (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991150 ), when I was reading through the thread, I saw someone said that it is the best ROM in case of gaming performance. Compared with Galaxy S3 than on Evo he had better results in FPS than on S3. So I don't know if this will help you somehow, but you should give it a try.
Can't say for sure either, but I've been trying a couple of Roms. More than the Rom, the Kernel seems to make a difference for Games.
Anyhow, I found to get really good results with the Sensai Rom when I use the Buttered Toast Kernel @1566mhz. You can save your battery and not overclock the GPU as that really didn't ever result in much performance increase.
I believe I had the best experience with the infamous Anthrax Kernel, though it was also draining battery like a hog and wouldn't run quite as stable as the Buttered Toast Kernel does. Either way, I'd say mostly stick to the Rom you like in terms of Featureset and try switching through Kernels, that's what mostly game me the biggest performance gains. (My personal favourite: Buttered Toast)
