Most stable/working rom for 4.0 YP-G1? - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I tried installing Steve's rom but the home button didn't work. Tried installing the SGP 4.90 Icy Fusion but it was stuck on the Samsung logo screen. The other ones I've seen all mention camera not working which is kinda a deal breaker or home button not working.
I'm not looking for the most powerful one, just an improvement on the stock firmware.
Maybe I should just flash a kernel and not a rom and in this case which one? Also before I flash a rom, should I do a cache/data wipe?
And last question I have is about back-up, I can't figure out how to do it with the YP-G1. In Rom Manager for example, I click on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery but it doesn't seem to be supported for this device. Any clear instructions on making a backup would be helpful since I got a little worried after the problem with being stuck on the Samsung screen with another rom. I eventually flashed the stock firmware back on there.

Btw I haven't been able to download Klin's Kernel. The link doens't work, says mediafire folder not found. Trying to download this one:

Hello there. The 2 best roms/most stable are IcyFusion by Klin1344 and EtherealRom by hanthesolo (I assume you have the 4.0 cause you put 4.90 ). However, which version of the galaxy player do you have? Is it the international, or USA version (Capacitive home button)?
Before we start flashing anything. I'd recommend you have USB Debugging checked in the settings (Settings-> Applications-> Development Check box for USB Debugging). I found that it causes bootloops when it is unchecked.
Anyways you have to flash both the kernel and the rom. It usually works best if you flash the kernel first and then the rom second.
The kernel that works best for me is Klin's Custom Kernel for YP-G1 USA + INTL, but you can also flash STeVEs Custom Kernel too. I wouldn't recommend terrasilent because at least for me it would reset my whole device, but this is only in my experience. All kernels comes with CWM already installed on it so you don't need Rom Manager. After you flash it. You can flash either etherealRom or Icyfusion. If you still get bootloops wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache partition in CWM. To access CWM power off the player and then hold power + volume up at the same time
You don't have to wipe anything before flashing. Back up is done through CWM just make sure you have enough space on your player. If you want more detailed instructions let me know in case I confused you lol. I also let klin know that his link is down.

Thanks for the response. The Terrasilent one was making my device go slower so I found a link for Klin's kernel.
Now I'm just wondering how to install etherealRom since it's not a tar file and can't be flashed with odin. Would it be these instructions? I have the US version of YP-G1 btw. Or is there a simpler way to install the etherealRom as a .zip, maybe with RomManager?
Convert to EXT4:
1. Flash Klin's R3 or a version of Terrasilent
2. Make sure you have about 14 MB free space on /system.
3. Boot into CWM recovery and do a full nandroid backup.
4. Reboot, and from your computer go to the CWM backup directory on your sd card. Alternatively, you could use a file explorer to view and edit these files.
5. Change all the files from ".rfs.tar" to ".ext4.tar".
6. Open nandroid.md5 with a text editor and change all the ".rfs.tar" to ".ext4.tar". Save and close.
7. Eject the device from your computer FIRST. This step is crucial. Then disconnect from your player. If you edit it on the player, you can skip this step.
8. Reboot to CWM recovery and do a full restore.
9. (only for terrasilent users) head into the advanced menu of cwm, select reboot download, then reflash your terrasilent kernel. That should fix the "bricking" some people experienced.

Ethereal is a .tar file. You have to unzip the file with winrar or 7zip to get the .tar then you can flash with odin. These instructions are to make our device faster so you would get a quadrant score of like 2500+ (That's what I got when I was using this rom before).

Thanks to the developers we have a bunch of kernels and roms. Not all of the changes people made were to enable a faster device. As daunting as it may seem you should get to know your device(region is key here) and find the combination of compatible kernel, rom, and settings that work for you depending on how you want to use it.
I use my American GP 4.0 primarily as a e-mail/text reader and music player. I underclocked it, chose a non-standard governor/scheduler then killed a ton of applications I had used previously so that I could get 2+ days worth of use out of a single charge. If I try to use it for anything else it's slow and frustrating, but the sound quality and battery life is good so I have no complaints. :victory:

[Q] Looking for ROM that's closest to stock Android

Hi, I'm running a stock P500 and I'm a bit disappointed with its performance. I'm looking for a ROM which is feature-complete, i.e. no missing features such as Bluetooth calling, etc. and minimal to no deviation from the stock Android UI. Any suggestions?
use megatron ROM it is the closest in my opinion and has very good performance but i would suggest trying the other ROMs that have gingerbread like miks cm7 they are not missing much and what they are missing you can get back

Do as what you are told on their page.. I or the dev will not be responsilble.
Ok, so this is all kinda new to me so I wanted to make sure that I have the basics covered:
1. I need to root my phone. I'm running Android 2.2.2 so I guess that means I need to use gingerbreak. It's an .apk file that I need to install on my phone and then I run it to gain root access. Are there any command line actions needed for gingerbreak?
2. After rooting, I need to install a ROM manager such as CWM or AmonRA. If I'm not mistaken, the program itself will install the custom recovery, right? And how do I boot into that recovery mode?
3. After booting into recovery mode, I need to do a nandroid (?) backup of my current ROM, right? And the backup of my stock ROM is restored through the same custom recovery, yes? Would restoring the stock ROM unroot my phone and remove the custom recovery as well?
3. After backing up, I need to flash the custom ROM which should be saved as a .zip file on my SD card. Do I need to worry about the kernel as well?
Sorry if I have a lot of questions.

1. Install it, open it and select "Root"
2. No, the root program won't install the recovery. You need to do that; the easiest way is by Rom Manager (download from market); boot in recovery: turn off the phone and start it by pressing at the same time: home + vol down + power key and release at lg logo to enter custom recovery or just select boot into recovery from ROM Manager
3. Yes, make a backup and to restore it just select "restore" from the same place. No, you will restore the backup you just made so your phone will be exactly the way it was when you created the backup (including apps, settings etc)
4. Yes, you will enter "install zip from sdcard -> choose zip". Don't forget to wipe cache, dalvik cache, data/factory reset and format /system before you flash the rom. Other kernels are not mandatory but highly recommended (the differences are big) - also wipe just cache & dalvik cache before flashing the kernel

Thank you. What are the precautions that I need to take to make sure I don't brick my phone? Also, what are the chances of my phone getting damaged and at which point during those steps is it most likely to happen?

The chaces of bricking the phone are very small.
What can happen:
- some people reported that their phone got bricked when they installed the recovery with ROM Manager (this can be easily undone, there is a thread about this). Never happened to me, everything went smooth & fast. There are other ways to install a recovery if you don't want to use ROM Manager, just check the Development section.
- the ROM you choose can be uncompatible with your recovery (all the new roms are compatible with clockworkmod recovery (this is the recovery you will install via ROM Manager); there are some older roms which are compatible only with AmonRA)
- after flashing a custom kernel the phone might not boot (no panic, just flash the rom again or restore backup); check if your ROM is compatible with the kernel you choose
Flashing with recovery is very safe because everything can be easily undone. As long as the phone boots into recovery there is no panic.
But most of the time if your cautious and do everything as told your fine~~
hahaha.. Enjoy..
Rom manager give Cwm.. So no hassle..

Your backup will appear as a folder on the root of your sdcard (/clockworkmod/folder with the date of your backup). You need to save that folder on your pc just to be safe.

Thanks! Is it safe to do all the flashing/work from within ROM Manager? It just seems too easy to be true.
Also, is there a 'compatibility matrix' of some sort for the different ROMS and kernels available? Since I want GB, I'm planning on flashing Mik's CM7 mod. Is Franco's kernel compatible with that?

I say it's pretty safe. As I said, worked like a charm for me.
mik_os's rom is flashable via clockworkmod recovery and compatible with franco.kernel (bfs version).
If you are interested in a froyo stock rom with just the root and a performant kernel like franco's one, I could cook a rom for you...

Thanks. I was able to gain root as well as install CWM. I'm currently backing up my current ROM. Now I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but when I install a custom ROM, wouldn't that overwrite CWM? How do I go back to recovery then, say, to reflash my original ROM?
Flashing a rom through recovery does not overwrite the recovery.
And you can always boot into recovery by pressing and holding home+volume down+power when the phone is off till the recovery menu boots.

For flashing rom : wipe everything, partition SD card only of you want to use a2sd or data2sd (check ciaox's REPO thread for more info about these two) and then choose flash from zip. If you are wiping battery stats then do it when you are fully charged.
For flashing kernel : wipe cache, dalvik cache and battery stats. No need to partition SD card.
EDIT: yes you need to flash zram initialiser. Keep in mind to flash Cfs version for froyo and bfs version for gb roms. Also always reboot between multiple flashes.

[Q] Flashing Custom ROM

Hi,
I have a samsung vibrant T959 with Eclair 2.1 in it. I haven't updated my OS yet , but rooted it using one click. Then to update my OS to Cynogen, I downloaded ROM manager (not premium as it doesnt support 2.1 ver). Then I tried to backup my current ROM using the option Backup Current ROM,but it just goes to recovery mode and has the option to reboot , delete casche etc. Then i just select the reboot option, nothing happens.. What is the problem? What more needs to be done. Is this problem due to the oldy 2.1 eclair I have? Please help. I m dying to update the OS..
Heres how to make a nandroid backup... Boot into recovery and go down and select something called "Backups & Restore" then go abd make a "Backup".
As a reference here's my guide to flash CyanogenMod 7/Miui... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307637
Sent from my SGH-T959 (Samsung Vibrant)
Your guide doesnt mention anything about Rom manager at all. I have gone through a lot of guides and it mentions as :
1) Root it ( which i have done)
2) Titatanium backup (for apps backup ..done)
3) Install Rom manager (done)
4) Update to latest clockwork (clicked the first button and updated)
5)Backup current Rom .. I am stuck here.. as when i click it , it pops out a textbox for name of the backup.. then i set it.. then it reboots ... nothing is backed up.. Can anybody help me in this process??? Please..
OK, although I prefer making a nandroid backup by these steps...
1). Booting into recovery.
2). Go to backup and restore.
3). Then select backup.
...If you really want to do it through Rom Manager then you can try these steps and tell me how they work for you. Since it appears that your recovery may be messed up...
1). Load up Rom Manager.
2). Go into Settings.
3). Go down the menu and check off Erase Recovery.
4). In the Rom Manager main menu select Flash Alternative Recovery.
5). After that Flash ClockworkMod Recovery again, that first button.
6). Reboot.
7.) Try making a backup again.
...Lastly, Rom Manager isn't necessary to flash a rom or to make a backup of your current rom. The backup feature in the CWR menu does the exact same thing just to make that clear. Now when it comes to flashing Miui/CM7, I again refer you to my guide if you get stuck...
Hope everything works out for you & welcome to xda-developers!
I didnt find the options you mentioned for ROM manager. So I am going for Nandroid backup.
I needed to confirm on the following steps:
1) I m skipping steps 2 and 3 ( FLASH BACK TO STOCK (2.1 Eclair) and Download mode)
2) I downloaded your 2.3.9 MIUI link and ODIN .
3) Do I need to follow step 6 abt Get CWR ? Overstock Kernel ? Is it that only after installing this , I would be able to make a bakup of current ROM? I have already flashed clockworkmod recovery which shows 2.5.1.2 in ROM manager. So i though this step would not be necessary.
And when i tried to go to recovery mode, there were only the same four options ,
a)reboot b)reinstall packages c)delete cache etc.. So i googled for this problem and i saw in xda wiki which said to select reinsall packages. So is it correct?? I really dont want my phone to brick... So i may be questioning too much..

This is stock recovery. If you are using Rom Manager, make sure it is installed correctly. There is a link in my signature that you can download the custom recovery. Download it, put it on ther insteranl sd card and label it update.zip Make sure it is the only thing labeled that.
Boot into recovery, scroll down to Reinstall Packages and hit it. It will cycle through. Scroll down to Reinstall Packages again and hit it again. It will cycle through again and your stock (blue) recovery will change to custom (green) recovery. From here you can flash your ROM.
Before you go further and we explain something that is not needed, what ROM are you trying to flash?
I have been trying to flash MIUI.us_vibrantmtd_2.3.9_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip. Currently I have eclair in my vibrant

Please confirm the steps below to flash
First i should select backup and restore then after the backup is done , i need to follow the steps below.
1)wipe cache partition
2)advanced- wipe dalvik cache
3)wipe data factory reset
4)install zip from sdcard
Am I correct?
Ok then. It should work for you hopefully.
BTW make sure you are flashing a Vibrant ROM. Iknow it says Vibrantmtd in the .zip but just make sure (there are different versions of the Vibrant out there-ATT [Captivate], TMo [Vibrant model # SGH-T959], Verizon [Fascinate], TMo4g [Vibrant 4g model # SGH-T959v]). I did a quick search and I could not find a 2.3.9 ROM in the dev section. I don't use MIUI so I may not be looking in the right place.
If your recovery goes from blue to green then you should be able to start at Step 7 in N00b_IN_N33D's guide. Good luck and happy flashing.

Yes but check your ROM OP to make sure.
My model is Vibrant model # SGH-T959 .. how do i know if the 2.3.9 supports mine or not.. Couldnt find any info in google (I m too eager to update my OS so not googling much )
My backup is complete and I am about to follow the other steps. So when i install the zip file, if I get any errors, I can always restore my previous ROM .. right?
Yes you can always restore your back up, although not sure why you would want to restore 2.1 stock eclair since you know how to Odin back to stock anyways.
Again, since I do not use MIUI, I am unsure about what ROMs there are and like i said, I just used the simple search bar and couldn't find anything 2.3.9 in our forums. I can suggest anything from 360 productions, as they are supported well and the Devs are on here a fair amount of time.
Maybe before you get flash-fantastic, you should think about what you want out of your ROM and then read some of the OPs. There are plenty of 2.2s with everything working, a fair amount of 2.3.Xs with all the theming that comes with MIUI but also battery drain and memory leaks. And then there are 6+ flavors of ICS (4.0.3) ROMs that you can choose from (I have a guide on installing these if you need it).
OPs on all will tell you what works and doesn't and also the features of that ROM. If you really want MIUI, I suggest you PM N00B_IN_N33D and get his input.
Installation is complete , kinda seems a bit slow.. but what amuses me is I did not have to do the following steps mentioned by noob :
It should start flashing and then enter a bootloop (Vibrant [Splash Screen] > Galaxy S Cyanogen(MOD) > CWR > Repeat). After it does this loop a few times do a battery pull.
Reboot into recovery, which will now be blue (Hold both volume buttons and power. Release power once the Vibrant logo is up).
Go to “install zip from sd card”, select zip from sd... Go and find the MIUI ROM you put on the sd card and flash it again.
This time it should successively install.
Go to "advanced", and select "Fix Permissions". Once it has finished fixing permissions go down and hit "++Go Back++"
Reboot your device.
Do not touch the phone for 5-10 minutes after it has booted... Do Absolutely Nothing! This helps clear any possible bugs.
Is it required??
And then there are 6+ flavors of ICS (4.0.3) ROMs that you can choose from (I have a guide on installing these if you need it).
could you provide me the links to it. Thanks

I assume you are talking about this. It is not required but is always a good idea to do. It lets the ROM settle down and any RAM tweaks initiated, different system scripts to finish running,... What is 5-10 minutes if it will save you all kinds of trouble in the future.

Sure. You can go here and read all about them. Note that some of these are advanced, experimental, Beta/RC status. So you will want to read them and do some searches before you ask your questions b/c you'll get flamed for sure if you don't.

[Q] Flashing white screen on boot

hi guys, first post
ive had my rooted galaxy s2 with the latest siyah kernel 3.3.2, i had cwm recover 5 and rom manager
i tried to flash cyanogen mod through rom manager, following the steps it gave me, i downloaded the files through rom manager and went through all the prompts till i clicked agee to go into recovery mode.
once it did that the phone shut off but would not turn on again so i went to turn on manually, it loads the samsung galaxy screen with the yellow triangle but goes straight into a white flashing screen.
Ive tried taking the battery out, leaving it and putting it back in again, still a flashing screen,
check what i9100 you have and download correct cm9.
using cwm format data system cacha sdcard dalvik
flash cm9 using cwm
rommanager doesnt work on GS2

i have the international 19100T
ahh rats i should have known rom manager does not work, , im just stuck in a white flash screen on boot up, cant get to cwm, although i can get into odin
would reflashing my kernel on odin get me through? everything is back up onto my sd card.
Try flashing a kernel first, and if that doesn't work, flash a rom in Odin, re-root your phone & restore your backup. But yeah, don't use Rom Manager with a kernel that has CWRecovery. One or the other. Rom Manager has a habit of doing stuff like what's happened to you on SGS2's which also have CWRecovery installed.

awesome, I tried flashing the latest siyah kernel, the one that i already had on my phone before the problems, that didn't do anything to get me through, any suggestions on which kernel/rom to flash?
because you are on siyah and im not comfortable with that, please flash a stock kernel or cfroot kernel and format system data partitions after that.
now flash any official stock ICS or GB rom using Odin.

ohh sweet baby jesus im i flashed a cf kernel and now im into cwm on 4.0.1.5, can i just normal reboot my phone now?
No need to format anything. Given you want to use CM9, I'd recommend you flash CM9 Resurrection Edition in Odin, put the latest CM9 nightly & Gapps on your internal/external SD card then flash that nightly & Gapps in CWM (read the first page of the CM9 discussion thread thoroughly & follow the instructions to the letter. From there you can stick with the CM9 stock kernel or flash whatever other kernel you want to use (provided it's CM9 compatible).
From then on, if you want to flash CM9 nightlies, do it via CWM/CWRecovery, just don't use Rom Manager this time I use CM9 as well & I have it frozen because I use Siyah (which has CWM).

alrighty! thanks for the info, is cf kernel compatible with cm9? i want to just have one kernel that'll handle most roms, any suggestions?
ive reloaded my old stable phone version, the version i saved before trying to flash cyanogen mod with rom manager, this version has siyah and stock rom, back to square one *phew*
i still say wipe first, cm9 will come with its own latest cwm that can be used to flash any custom roms after.
flashing via odin version is easy and fool proof as it has everything bundled for correct working of cm9.
If you flash CM9 the CM9 kernel will overwrite/replace your CFRoot kernel, which is fine. As I said in my previous post you can stick with that if you're happy with it, or you can flash any other kernel that's CM9 compatible.
No suggestions/recommendations. Because your experience will not be the same as someone else's using a given rom or kernel. If you want to go down that path, try some kernels to find one you like. To see if a kernel is compatible with CM9, read the the dev thread devoted to the kernel in question.
OK. Given you're back @ square one, Atifsh is right when he says flashing the Resurrection version (Odin version) then flashing Gapps/nightly from there is probably a good way to go for you. Once you've done that, you'll be able to flash CM9 nightlies via CWRecovery. As said previously, read that first page of the CM9 discussion thread/instructions thoroughly before you do anything.

Something similar happened to me too. I flashed stock XWLPG, then siyah 3.3.2 and did a factory reset. After that, got stuck in a flashing white screen after the yellow triangle.
What I did: boot on download mode, flash XWLPG over PC Odin once more, did a full wipe BEFORE flashing siyah and then siyah. Everything went ok this time, but eventually I found out that every time I do a factory reset after siyah that problem would occur.

[Q] Flashing with Odin questions

OK, so my plan is to Flash my USA Galaxy Player 5.0 with Entropy's Kernel and Chip v1.5 ROM, and I think I've got the general idea down (first time at this, so this is still new and scary):
1) Backup data (Already done)
2) Factory Reset to clear out everything
3) Use Odin3 v1.7 to Flash Entropy's Kernel
4) Use Odin3 v1.7 to Flash Chip v1.5
5) Enjoy newly improved Galaxy Player, and begin the re-install process for all my apps.
The questions I have that I cant seem to get straight:
1) In the How To Flash with Odin/Heimdall tutorial, it says to use the .tar file for the ROM/Kernel. On Entropy's Kernel page, it has downloads for a .tar from back in January of this year, and a .zip from March. It looks like the march one is the latest updates, but how do I use them/install from a zip? I notice the instructions directly above the install, but as far as I can tell, there isn't a way to use CWM for the Galaxy Player. My Player is rooted, should I just go with the 'Any rooted device' instructions, using the .zip? Will that work for a first time?
2) Chip's instructions recommend re-installing the kernel again after flashing his mod. Has anyone found this advice helpful? If so, should I try using Odin to do it or the terminal emulator?
3) I want to re-install Swype and some of the default stuff after installing Chip v1.5, thus Addon Pack 1 is needed. Again, it says flash with CWM, and it's a zip file...
That's all I can think of right now. I know I'm being overcautious, and after the first time or two I won't think hardly anything of these details I'm asking for, but for right now I'd really appreciate any help I can get!
the only thing i used odin (make sure youre in download mode of course) for was to flash entropys .tar file (DD_01142012.tar) which now lets you have cwm recovery on your device. and then i rebooted put entropys DD_03052012.zip onto my sdcard, and i also put chip1.5-1-signed.zip onto sdcard in same spot. then i rebooted into cwm mode by powering off and then holding power and vol+ button together till u see first samsung screen then let go of power button but not vol+button, when u see cwm menu then u can let go. then i scrolled down to 'install zip from sdcard' and click on it and goto the DD_03052012 first and install that, once thats finished, then i installed chips rom, and did entropys kernel again (just in case he says) then just reboot from the cwm menu. dont forget to make nand backup after you have chip installed just in case, or even make a nand backup before chip installation, or both its up to u, i did both just cuz. :highfive:
So everything looked like it was going good, then I got into a boot loop right after I installed Chip v1.5. I'm trying to go through the instructions to fix that now, but before that everything was nice and easy. Thanks for your help!
Did u do a wipe data and clear caches before chip? If u haven't then do it now and reinstall everyhing

For those who might be reading this in the future, to clear the boot loop I used the instructions here, which got my Player back to factory settings (it was more of a hassle to download the recovery ROM than it was to actually restore the Player). I re-tried installing, got boot looped again, then went to CWM ->Advanced ->Clear Delvik Cache . I remembered seeing this in the other instructions, I just mistook it for deleting the normal cache/data. Once I deleted it things worked fine, and things are looking good so far!
Moral of the story: Installing custom ROMs is easier than you think, although there are some little things that might trip you up for a little bit.

Whipe everything and dalwick cashe also..and then wait ,first boot is always longer because its formating cashe.
But if you dont have cwm and you want to flash some kernel which is in boot.img format packed in zip (i had few situations like that when i could not enter cwm ) since SGP dont have fastboot mode only way to flash it is try Odin ,download samsung note 2 tools (find it on xda ,there is thread for that) and with that tool you can convert .img to Tar ,just before conversion you rename boot.img in to zImage ..after it creates tar you can flash it with odin normaly ( add in pit section)

I'm fairly certain you flash .tar files with odin, and .zip files in clockworkmod recovery. If you need cwm, you can flash a custom kernel with it installed already through odin. Try terrasilent or steve's kernel if you have the 4.0, for the 5.0 I'm not sure.
flashing cm 10.1 with odin, can i and how
[can anyone answer this question for me, I have the vibrant t959 and my power button is dead. I can use my phone all works fine but what I cant do is flash rom with cw cause of the power button. is their a way to flash cm 10.1 with odin or other way that u don't need a power button?
please help

Look for stock GB firmware and flash with program called odin. The tar file (stock firmware) usually contains both zImage(kernel) and factory.rfs (system).

do you have a recovery of whatever GB rom you had? if so, this will make things slightly easier. if not, get a gb rom.
I've used CWM in a previous downgrade so the following will reflect a CWM-based approach.
1. get the appropriate rom/backup and kernel. put them in yr SD card (eg chips rom and entropy's kernel[US ONLY])
2. make sure yr SGP has enough battery life (to simplify, charge to full power)
3. go to CWM. wipe everything. (data + system) clear the cache. (im not sure if clearing the cache is necessary, but it's a nice precaution. plus, it wouldn't do any harm)
4.. flash whichever rom you'd like (or your backup) via cwm or odin. if odin, do as directed by the previous poster. if cwm, use the zips
5. flash the appropriate kernel (entropys or rjs, depending on your SGP version- US & int'l, respectively). find that on these boards.
6. reboot.
7. enjoy.

if you want to go through odin, you'd have to get a .tar file and flash via Odin under the PDA option (NOT THE BOOTLOADER. [this may not be all that important, although I think it is, hence the caps. i could just be a raving lunatic tho]). make sure yr computer/Odin registers your device as present before you do anything. if yr comp. or odin doens't register yr device (ie drivers or USB is messed up), then you'll have to go through the CWM option- power+vol up
==
edit: just re-read your blurb. for chips, you'll need to use CWM from what i remember (ie they're zips, not .tars). there's also an add-on pack that you can (probably should) install. you will definitely have to dl/flash the appropriate kernel.
disclaimer: not responsible for anything that may go wrong in your device. (ie I'm not sure exactly what is wrong with your device, but believe that these steps should get it working again. [ie don't send hatemail should anything go wrong])
