adding theme into custome rom - HTC Rezound

Hello everyone. Im just starting out theming and i cant post in the dev section yet But here my question. I rooted my friends phone and install CM10 and installed a purple theme for her. Shes having a data dropping issues. It sounds like a hand off from 4 to 3 and never going back to 4..no sure..she just complains that she loses data. So my thinking was is because she like the feel of the AOSP roms, i was going to install a senseless one and then theme it. Whats the easiest way to merge an exsisting them apk into a custom rom that doesnt have the theme picker app? would i extract the rom, add the files from the APK into it, compile sign then install?

I've never done any theming, but I'm guessing you'd have to decompile the theme apk, resize all of the images to the DPI and resolution of the sense rom, decompile framework-res.apk from the sense rom and swap out the drawables and then recompile. If you really want a good answer though, I'd PM who MIKE D and ask. He's done some really sick theming.

Ok cool, Ill do just that. Ive done some basic themes on apk but never a full blown rom theme, i know because of the system files, there a different way you have to go about it

Why don't you just take the notification bars and icons from the framework-res.apk in a wildfire cm6 rom, and flop them into your framework-res.apk and systemui.apk in the cm7 rom.
you can use the UOT kitchen: http://circle.glx.nl/ to theme your phone.
Or you can use the theme chooser.
Or you can flash my theme... if you want.

Hi thanks for the quick replys. Is there a tutorial you could point me to? I'm still learning the android system only been using for a week or so. I know the basics, flashing roms and rooting also pre packed themes etc etc. I already have the android Dev kit setup and functioning I pressume it will be required to extract cm notification bar.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
you won't need a tutorial for the UOT kitchen, it's as simple as choosing the stuff you want, then it asks you to upload your framework-res.apk, then it creates a .zip, then you flash it.
as for putting and changing icons in your framework-res, you just need the sdk to push the framework to your phone (if you dont know how to make a flashable zip) - there's a guide somewhere in the wildfire general section (just search for it). all you have to do is open the framework-res.apk with winrar, and place the icons you want to change into that rar file, and replace, - ok, done bla bla.
Nice. Thanks for your help. I'm going to try your theme as soon as I get chance aswell ill let you know how it goes. Thanks again

Looking for Dev to help with my Orange theme

Hey guys,
I'm building a theme and i'm running in to some trouble. I'm hoping someone might want to team up with me on this who has a little more experience. Currently, i have themed all the images in drawable-hdpi, and it took me about two days of work to do. I replaced the originals within 7zip with my new ones and then ran the rom through my kitchen to resign it...but now i'm getting errors about the framework when i try to do anything.
So anyway, i'd like to be able to just make this in to a flashable .zip theme that can be used on all the roms. If anyone can help me out, i'd appreciate it. Send me a PM and i will email you a zip of all the files i have themed so far, and we can collaborate from there. This theme is Orange...It looks real nice and i've put a lot of work in to it so far. Painstakingly long hours. Thanks in advance.

If your using 7zip to replace the images than there is no need to resign it.

Yea i decompiled our values/public xml added a bunch of lines for the new battery images and cant get it to recompile lol. I love the touchwiz pulldown...maybe i should hit up dreams and see how hard it would be to make them for a non touchwiz phone lol. He buolt them for the nexus lol.
But yea i need to see if i can get the xml to recompile. Already edited the services.jar file to add the battery smali needed for the mod to work on the atrix. After that tried the xml editing and cant get it to recompile lol.

Guys, just so you know, i loaded this the new homebase rom with update, and it has the battery percentage as 1% thank god!!!
Making an attempt...
I'm still a noob so pardon me if i'm not really adding anything here. I'm going to try to make the mod. So far I've:
1) Downloaded apktool
2) Decompiled the framework-res.apk file
3) Went into stats_sys_battery.xml and added the lines for each percentage
...LOL that's where I'm at and this'll take a while...so sorry if I'm taking a long time with this...I also just saw that last post about having the 1% mod on the home based rom...****! LOL! Well, if anyone's interested, I'll still give it a shot...hopefully i don't brick my phone.
4) Went into UOT Kitchen and downloaded some battery icons (now i have all charging/status icons...I didn't want to make it myself)
5) Wondering if I replace stats_sys_battery.xml with my modded one, recompile, that it would work?
If you use minimalistic text, it shows battery level in increments of 1%
Any updates to this mod

What ROM do you need the mod for? If you're talking Joker's skinny ROMs, then you can flash those as they have the % mod. Also Rangerbry posted the % mod way back for BLUR Roms. If you're talking ICS. Not ready yet, though I had extracted the systemui.apk and decompiled it, made my xml edits. but apktool doesn't compile the unrecognized ICS yet, so right now, we're stuck.

You probably need to update your apktool. I believe ICS support was added back in December.

I was on 1.4.3 when i tried it, but maybe I'm just messing up somewhere with it. I installed framework-res.apk, systemui.apk's and decompiled the System apk just fine, made my edits, but when I built it, a **** ton of errors popped up.

To see if its your environment or your edits, decompile and don't make any changes then recompile. Depending on the results you'll have your answer.

It's basically a new revamped version on MIUI.
Do you have the rom or system dump of MEIZU... if not I'll try and find it. but making a Meizu theme wouldn't be too hard... but as far as looking like that exactly wouldn't be possible... themeing it on MIUI would be easy since modding the lockscreens and placements of items such as battery like in the previews shown are MIUI based.
I'll do it if I can get my hands on the rom or system dump. hit me back in a few days and hopefully I'll have the stuff started.
Peace
Annex
Well i think the xperia play and Galaxy S I9001 peeps have a rom which would make it a bit easier, and its alright that lockscreen and battery placment cant be themed exact. I knew it couldnt anyways lol.
Yes i have a system dump, im just at work so ill have to get it to ya later on in the day.
Thanks for the reply man!

[Q] Community Opinion

Just trying to get a feel of the community and how many people would like a purple theme. if its in demand i will do it but if not i will stop because it is a lot of work. just let me know if you would like to see it!
I am not sure what the deal is with this community. Most of the time it seems like we have 10 active users. Then CM10 comes out and I can't keep up with everything.
Then it does down again and the themes and other things we put out don't get any recognition.
Just a warning, don't get bummed if nobody shows interest.
I have never been a big purple theme fan. But I'm sure that if you build it, they will come.

Stock ICS notification bar icons on a sense Rom would be awesome too...

I took a look at the theme chooser option for the theme.... I dont know where to start because the default folder that they give you is for GB and its hdpi... i know i can add a new folder for xhdpi and do it that way, but i dont know what files are exactly needed, and the ones that i have edited already would have to be renamed which is a giant pain in the ass. so unless i can find an uncompiled folder with xhdpi images that i can edit, i wont be doing that.
I have been using and really like the Jelly Bean Extreme Red theme from the Play Store, and there is also a Jelly Bean Extreme Purple, if anyone's interested.

I haven't tried an xhdpi but its similar to hdpi. Just a little bit bigger. I need to clear some space and set up my build box for the theme chooser again and I'll be down to help.
