I got an Xperia X10i from a friend in school. The only problem it had was that the battery was faulty (We tried a battery from an Xperia Play, worked perfectly top to bottom), so I went a head and bought a new battery. Now the phone will only vibrate and flash a green light. Then nothing, not even the Sony logo. I've to pull the battery out and shove it back it for it to start again. I've tried SEUS, FlashTool, and Repair Phone in PC Companion. They all download the ROM but won't do anything while installing and will eventually say it failed. So my question is, is there anyone else out there who experienced this and how did they fix it? Please help
You might wanna make sure the drivers are properly installed then start flashtool get the .71 baseband and stock gb rom from stickies if i remember well put them in the firmware folder then turn your device off plug it in the pc and quickly hold the back button until a green light shows up and keep holding it start the flashing process and let it do his job flash the rom and the baseband no orders preferred reboot you should have a stock working rom

I really don't know what to do
Strange, I'm in Ireland too. I've an Vodafone Ireland X10i I bought of a guy the other day and it has the very same problem, it just refuses to take the update from 2.1. I downloaded the Nordic 2.1 ftf file and it sticks at 7% and will not move after that. I've contacted Sony Ericsson support yesterday afternoon and I'm awaiting a reply.
I'm not complaining about buying the phone as I use an Xperia X10 anyway so if it can't be repaired I can use it for spare parts and I didn't pay a lot for the one that's broke.
Dmac98 have you contacted Sony Ericsson support? if not then maybe you should as the more people contact them about this problem the quicker they might get it sorted.

I emailed them this morning over it and they said use SEUS, as if I haven't tried that already. I really dont know what to do, I dont want an expensive paper weight teasing me whenever I go into my room
SEUS won't work I've already tried that. I just tried again to update via pc companion and it got to the very end then stopped. I'm gona keep trying, it just has to be fixable lol

Mine doesn't get any progress after download, when you turn your X10 on does it stay on the Bootloader?

So we're in the exact same situation and you're doing better than me. I'm jealous. I've a funny feeling you actually have to have more than 50% (It sounds like more of a suggestion) but it's really hard to charge when it keeps on stopping. This things meant to be impossible lol
yeah I use this phone to charge the battery so its always over 50%. The update gets to about 97% then stops, by hook or by crook I'll get it sorted haha

Hmm bootloader unlocked you think? Might be debugging or maybe not because his update probably failed halfway causing this? I know the x10 is not hard brickable whit locked bootloaders no clue about unlocked ones really running short on ideas ...

Yeah, thats what I thought until I seen this post started by Dmac98 the problem is identical. Same country Ireland, same phones X10i, same network I think vodafone. I just think its strange lol. Thanks for your help though, just going to wait and see what se support will say I guess.

I have ran SEUS and restored my X10 to Stock 2.3.3
Then I rooted the phone using the newest version of flashtool
Then ran the plugin/bootloader unlock option in flashtool
Then when I reconnect the phone in flash mode, The phone does not enter flash mode and flashtool displays that the phone has been removed and the phone starts up to the Sony Ericsson screen.
Kindly help me and advice on how I can achieve bootloader unlock.
U are doing right thing pal it just the usb connection is a bit poor on our phone. Remove battery for 10-20 seconds, reimsert battery, wait bout a munute, then connect on flash mode. May take couple attempts but the way u doing it is correct

Thank you for the comment. I'll keep trying, finger crossed
I can't seem to get mine past 2.1...... tried to flash after root and all and after I learned the weird recovery process. Flashed one that was safe for locked and unlocked BL but it loops. Even flashed some initD file that the OP of that rom said to flash right after and it is still nil.......

Try just plugging it in and not holding back button. Does that work?

Are u trying to flash a 2.3.3 rom on 2.1? If u have u will have issues. If u did above grab flashtool and flash
global generic 2.3.3 firmware. Then flash the rom.

When i flash a kernel, i click to flash, i choose the kernel and wait the screen shows to conect in flash mode, if i try before choose the kernel it fail too, so try it.
Thanks for the reply.
There was no problem when flashing kernel but when I want to unlock the bootloader, it gave me the log below (I'm using latest flashtool 0.7.1.0) :
06/045/2012 07:45:02 - INFO - Flashing loader
06/045/2012 07:45:03 - INFO - Ending flash session
06/045/2012 07:45:03 - WARN - Cancelled
When I switch off the phone, and connect it back with flash mode (pushing the back button).
I tried several method to unlock bootloader but failed. I've even flashed flashed to stock 2.1, flashed the downgrade kernel and tried to unlock via X10 Bootloader Unlock Tool 0.1.1 (old method, i know). I've check my phone and it is good for unlocking (via s1tool).
Can anyone suggest any method I can try?

Which version of flashtool are you using? get the most recent one.
I had a similar problem unlocking th bl for a friend too and it got stuck at that part bcz i was using an older version of flashtool
I'm using flashtool 0.7.1.0, the latest one, i think.
I've flashed, root and install recovery with no error.
Except unlocking the bootloader..
Guys,
I've finally unlocked my bootloader using "The proper method".
The mistake (i think) was, I was on generic 2.3.3 when I use this method.
I flashed back to generic 2.1 and ran the unlock tool. When finished I check back with S1tool, my device show "r" and not "R" Yeaa...
Note that, I failed to unlock my bootloader when I was on 2.1 and 2.3.3 using latest Flashtool.
Thanks guys.
HELP1! I've flashed ST18i_4.1.A.0.562_(1252-5332).ftf on my ray with Flashtool and it started and worked perfectly. I tried to install CW with SEextereme tweak installer but when it tried to reboot my phone it stopped at the Sony Ericsson screen. I cannot go into the CW.
I tried to restore my phone with flashtool with ST18i_4.0.2.A.0.42_(Central-Europe).ftf but it doesn't boot again. I tried with FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick.exe but still no success. Help me fix my phone or my parents will kill me because this is the third time it gets broken.
If this helps my ray is sim locked and with locked bootloader.
Thanks in advance.
Im' not sure whether SEextereme tweak installer can be used for ics, probably that's the problem. Why would you use fota unbrick? you didn't unlocked the bootloader rite?
basically there is 2 things you did wrong my fren:
1. Install CW with SEextereme tweak installer --> did u make sure that the tweak installer work with ics? in order to install CW u need to have root. Tweak installer probably uses the exploit on gingerbread not ICS
2. I tried with FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick.exe --> this one is a definite no. If im not mistaken this fotaunbrick only applied to phone that tried ota update after unlocking the bootloader on their phone.
Please specify the condition of your phone right now. Is it totally dead? when you turn on the phone what led color turns out? red, blue or green? Have you tried enter into flashmode to see whether it detects or not?
Flashmode= press vol down while connecting your phone to the computer
if what i'm suggesting is wrong, please correct me
be open to the bootloader
changed the kernel (xray v6)
go to recovery
factory reset
install zip from sdcard (custom rom)
In other places in the forum it's written that SEextreme tweak installer works with ICS and yes i had my phone rooted. I also read that this problem might occur on bricked devices and thats why i tried the Unbricktool.
my phone can connect in flashmode, but not in fastboot since i am with locked sim.
it does vibrate when i press the on button but it gets just to the sony ericsson screen and nothing more. I cannot even go to the recovery.
i've flashed firmwares with pccompanion, flashtool but still no sucess.

how long did you wait after flashing?
if you're still getting the sony logo then it's not really a bad case. only problem is you have a lock bootloader.
PC companion will not let you to repair installation?
use flashtool again with ST18i_4.1.A.0.562_(1252-5332).
Else you need to unlock the bootloader, and flash a new kernel.

I tried flashing the ST18i_4.1.A.0.562_(1252-5332) with flashtool and i waited about 2 minutes. It's still not gettin further than the sony ericsson screen.I aslo have tried this update service but still no change.
My bootloader has never been unlocked, so are you sure this is the problem and i nave to unlock it?
Check if you are able to use the phone in flash mode
Dude, your problem is pretty strange. I have done the same steps and worked flawles. Have a cable pluged in to the computer and then hold the vol- on the device and plug it. If you have a green LED thats cool. Go to wotanserver.com and find your ST18i. Scroll down and you will see the firmware flashing software. Download USB drivers and Wotan Client. Find someone with a credit card and get a firmware flashing credit for 2 euro. I think that will work. The wotanclient is easy to use and does not require anything else than flash mode for your phone. I hope i have helped you. Btw have you checked if toy have fastboot mode ( hold vol+ and plug in to computer)( I should see a blue led) if you dont see then pm me

please flash ST18i_4.1.A.0.562_(1252-5332) again with flashtool 0.7.0, tick the box of "Wipe User Data", "Wipe Cache" and "No Final Verification Check".
Then the "Sony" logo will appear, not the "Sony Ericsson". Then the "Xperia" logo will appear. After that, try to wait araound 10-15mins.
Please post the log from flashtool. Easier for us to analyze what has happened.
The good news is that ur phone still can boot into flashmode. And you dont need to unlock your bootloader for flashing. The only importance of unlocking your bootloader is basically the ability to flash via fastboot and flash custom kernel. That's all.
I did exactly what you told me but this time it got stuck on the SONY screen

Do i really need to unlock my bootloader to fix the problem?
Is there a solution without this because and if not how did it happen so i don't do it again?
Please answer the questions people ask here. You said you waited only 2 minutes after flashing ICS? You do know that everything in the phone gets reset, dalvik-cache gets wiped and it takes up more than 2 minutes for the phone to rebuild everything before it completely boots up?
If you did wait more than 10-15 minutes and you still have the problem, sorry, then i unfortunately don't know a solution.

IMO, you don't need to unlock the bootloader since CWM wipe all is basically the same with "Wipe User Data" and "Wipe Cache". So ur doing a same thing by flashing with flashtool with the "Wipe User Data" and "Wipe Cache" box tick. Did you try flash using official software like SEUS and PC Companion?

im assuming that u have already unlocked the bootloader on your phone since ur running a custom kernel. Have you tried flash using fastboot command?
after following what the guy above me said, please confirm if you are getting the Sony logo or the Sony Ericsson logo.
and yeah, minimum wait time after flashing is 5 minutes.

Hello deer XDA Devs and Members...
Bought a Sony Xperia P from a Friend for a few Bucks...
Warranty is way off, so i wanted to install another ROM on it, which worked perfectly...
Had Phantom Kernel 1.1.0 B Power Saver Edition + JB MoonBreaker 3.5 ROM installed.
Then, dont ask me why, me and a friend wanted to install another ROM and so, went to bootloader and... well... formatted everything >,<
that would not have been the problem, if we hadn't also formatted the SD Card, where the ROMs were on...

Phantom Kernel 1.1.0 B flashed through Fastboot
System:
Win 7 x64 Ultimate on Laptop
with Android SDK,
Flashtool 0.9.10.2beta6 Bin4ry
and all drivers v1.0.2 installed from Flashtool...
What i'm actually trying to do is to connect the Phone to Android SDK to use the ADB Push Command to get my ROM back on the Phone, BUT...
no matter what i do, Device is not recognized from ADB/System when in Bootloader.
I can set it to Fastboot mode and its recognized in Fastboot
can set it to flash mode and its recognized in Flashtool..
but neither ADB nor the System itself will recognize the Phone when booted to CWM (from Phantom Kernel... 6.0.2.8)
However, i also tried to flash it via Fastboot and latest 6.2.A.1.100 ROM/FW/Kernel...
Does not work, what ever i do
Flashtool the same...
I can set to Flashmode, choose the 6.2.A.1.100.ftf File and start, but it will only prepare files and then stuck... and then, the phone reboots to not existent system... so... not working either
My last option would be to get my Phone back to ADB for Push... but how, if W dont even recognize it when i connect it?
Hope you understand what i meant
And hope you can help me somehow...
I cant get further and am out of ideas >;<
thank you very much!

Hmm, did you unlock your bootloader before all this? Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830 , here you can find the latest drivers to use with Flashtool.
Have you tried to flash another kernel? Like the Nemesis? Reinstall drivers and try flash another kernel...
/TSB
sorry, forgot to write..
yes, my phone is ulocked and yes, i can flash any kernel i want and as far as the kernel has CWM onboard i can boot it to CWM recovery..., but thats fairly all, cuz no matter which kernel i have on, it wont be recognized in system/adb >,<
and as i wrote, its not a driver problem... i have all drivers and they worked before system went lost... but as the phone is not detectable anymore, i cant do anything..
device-manager doesnt show anything when i connect the Phone in Bootloader-Mode / CWM recovery
In Fastboot, its detected as S1 Fastbood and i can use Fastboot to flash kernel, but not system
In Flashmode its detected as S1 Flash Download and i can use Flashtool... but as i wrote, flashtool doesnt work somehow
You said you updated with EMMA, have you flashed the ftf with flashtool before?
Post flashtool log.
Also, you may try to extract system.sin from the ftf (it's a zip file) and flash with fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash system system.sin
I haven't tried it myself but it may work
nope, i didnt use EMMA... it tells me it cant update software cuz alteres software was found.. same as sony update service and pc companion
i used flashtool with both, the packed ftf file, where my phone just stuck and disconnected/rebooted without finishing the process or even starting the flash,
and with the extracted sin file, where the same happens...
with fastboot and system.sin, it tells me, the size would be too big to transfer and stops the process again..
this is for the 6.2.A.1.100 ROM/Kernel..
I can flash anything but the system itself
older roms lead to the same error >,<
and altered roms dont have sin archives which i could flash with fastboot...
so i still would need ADB access to my Phone to be able to push any ROM on it..
or a Stock ROM older and smaller than 6.2.A.1.100 i can flash with fastboot... but which i didnt find..
Try ICS .75
You might want to test flashing from an XP machine, my W7 and W8 PCs wouldn't keep connection when trying to flash, Flashtool would just drop connection everytime. Used an XP PC from work and presto all was good.
It's worth the try if you have access to Win XP.
Try install drivers from flashtool again. Then just open flashtool try to connect in fastboot and see ehats appear in the window.
