I have ran SEUS and restored my X10 to Stock 2.3.3
Then I rooted the phone using the newest version of flashtool
Then ran the plugin/bootloader unlock option in flashtool
Then when I reconnect the phone in flash mode, The phone does not enter flash mode and flashtool displays that the phone has been removed and the phone starts up to the Sony Ericsson screen.
Kindly help me and advice on how I can achieve bootloader unlock.
U are doing right thing pal it just the usb connection is a bit poor on our phone. Remove battery for 10-20 seconds, reimsert battery, wait bout a munute, then connect on flash mode. May take couple attempts but the way u doing it is correct

Thank you for the comment. I'll keep trying, finger crossed
I can't seem to get mine past 2.1...... tried to flash after root and all and after I learned the weird recovery process. Flashed one that was safe for locked and unlocked BL but it loops. Even flashed some initD file that the OP of that rom said to flash right after and it is still nil.......

No luck
Must have tried at least a hundred times.. Still no luck with mine.. Anymore suggestions ? Anyone ?
Try just plugging it in and not holding back button. Does that work?

Are u trying to flash a 2.3.3 rom on 2.1? If u have u will have issues. If u did above grab flashtool and flash
global generic 2.3.3 firmware. Then flash the rom.

When i flash a kernel, i click to flash, i choose the kernel and wait the screen shows to conect in flash mode, if i try before choose the kernel it fail too, so try it.
Thanks for the reply.
There was no problem when flashing kernel but when I want to unlock the bootloader, it gave me the log below (I'm using latest flashtool 0.7.1.0) :
06/045/2012 07:45:02 - INFO - Flashing loader
06/045/2012 07:45:03 - INFO - Ending flash session
06/045/2012 07:45:03 - WARN - Cancelled
When I switch off the phone, and connect it back with flash mode (pushing the back button).
I tried several method to unlock bootloader but failed. I've even flashed flashed to stock 2.1, flashed the downgrade kernel and tried to unlock via X10 Bootloader Unlock Tool 0.1.1 (old method, i know). I've check my phone and it is good for unlocking (via s1tool).
Can anyone suggest any method I can try?

Which version of flashtool are you using? get the most recent one.
I had a similar problem unlocking th bl for a friend too and it got stuck at that part bcz i was using an older version of flashtool
I'm using flashtool 0.7.1.0, the latest one, i think.
I've flashed, root and install recovery with no error.
Except unlocking the bootloader..
Guys,
I've finally unlocked my bootloader using "The proper method".
The mistake (i think) was, I was on generic 2.3.3 when I use this method.
I flashed back to generic 2.1 and ran the unlock tool. When finished I check back with S1tool, my device show "r" and not "R" Yeaa...
Note that, I failed to unlock my bootloader when I was on 2.1 and 2.3.3 using latest Flashtool.
Thanks guys.

Do you have an AT&T X10? Those have 'Unknown sources' hidden in Settings > Applications.
If you are trying to flash an AT&T X10 1.6 to Sony Ericsson generic world 2.1, you can follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012380
It's very helpful and takes only about 10 to 15 minutes at the most.
thanks that guide really helped and it worked
I have the same problem, but usb debugging and unknown sources is turned on (well was when my o/s still worked )
It gave me then the same problem as it does now
Now it loops with the SE logo (last time at least i had CW installed)
I have tried a SEUS but it gives me the "software is up to date" so i can't do a repair like i did last time
Any ideas???

1. Did you put the correct X10 Mini drivers into the drivers folder? By default it's running on the X10 drivers, although when you connect the device first time, it will ask for your exact device.
2. Try flashing the stock 2.1 firmware for your X10 Mini (not sure where to find X10 Mini stock firmwares, but they shouldn't be too hard to find). Generally, that can completely restore the software condition back to when it came out of a factory or you just updated it to 2.1

I have flashed and bootloader-unlocked 7 xperias before.Indians as well as AT&T ones without a problem.
Today my friend gave me another one for updating. It was on 1.6.Lucklily it was bought in India itself so i used PC companion to update to 2.3.3.
Was able to root as well as install xrecovery via flashtool.
Than when i tried to unlock bootloader the qsd8250_semc.cmd file ran but gave an error something like cant find userdate partition or something.
than tried to flash doomlords bootmanager...and got the same error!!
didnt find a solution yet

Mine is a Rogers X10a. I had it running a generic 2.3.3 rom, and rooted.
Worked great for about a month, then started experiencing random reboots.
Tried to install the Wolf custom gaming rom, without unlocking the bootloader (because I didn't read first), and that's where my main issues started.

So right now, is the bootloader unlocked or is it still locked? If it's locked, see the link I posted above and follow the instructions.
You flash ROMs through recovery (generally xRecovery or CWM-based recovery for some ROMs), not through the flashtool. The flashtool is only for flashing things like kernel and firmware generally.

Yes bootloader is locked.
Here is the s1tool output:

And I cannot unlock the bootloader from the steps in the link you mention.
The first step is: flash the azuzu kernel downgrade ftf with flashtool
I cannot, because I get the error " ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted"
This is where I am stuck.
So you did the inevitable... you got a phone that's bricked.. fear not.. this happens to all of us.. consider it a "right of passage" when it comes to dealing with custom ROM's
Here at xda, help is never too far away (I was there once too)
I've tried to get you back to functioning latest Local 2.1 with recovery (xrecovery)
0) You'll lose all data with this method....
come to terms with that... not stuff on the sd card but data of your phone, sms'es, contacts, applications etc
1) Turn off your phone
Pull the battery and reinsert it if you have to...
2) Install Flashtool
go here and downlad flashtool
Install on your windows pc
Thank Androxyde and Bin4ry for this kickass tool
3) Download and flash stock 2.1
Go to this thread and download a 2.1 rom in your language of choice (Dont worry that it's not your local ROM)
4) Flash this rom using Flashtool
In the first link there is a how-to. follow it and flash the downloaded ROM from step 3
Once you have 2.1 on your phone,
5) Enable USB Debugging and Root
Use flashtool and root your phone using the simple button "Root" (I know!! what an awesome tool right!!?? )
Once rooted, disconnect the phone.
6) Get yourself a root file manager
Download a file manager capable of root access such as root explorer or solid explorer.
7) Access and edit the build.prop file
Open the file manager. U should get a superuser prompt to allow root access. Touch "Allow". Go to /system and mount the system as RW. there's a file there called build.prop. open it in a text editor. Find all instances of a number that looks like this 1238-9045 (this is my build number, yours will not be the same). Edit this number(all 3 instances) to look like your build number (Found on original box or behind the battery). Save the file and exit
8) Update via SEUS OR PC companion
Now connect your phone back. PC companion or SEUS will tell you there is a new update available. follow the instructions and you'll be running the latest 2.1 for your region and variant of the mini pro
9) [optional] Root and recovery
The new firmware installed by SEUS/PC companion is not rooted. If you need it, root again (same way as in step 5). once rooted, click "Ask root perms" on flashtool. Once root access is confirmed, install xrecovery from the menu.
Hope that helped!
Enjoy
Edit: if you get an error while opening flashtool saying "JVM could not be started because heap size bla bla bla..." Please try on another pc and maybe reinstall windows on urs

Repair it with SEUS or PC Companion.
Step A: leave your phone disconnected from your PC
Step B: Run SEUS/PC Companion, and select update
Step C: It doesn't recognise your phone because it's disconnected and give you a repair option
Step D: Select it, choose your model, it will download the firmware
Step Ea: You get a popup, Press the back-button on your phone while it's off and plug in the USB-Cable
Step Eb: If you can't turn off your phone, plug in the USB-cable and press home- and power-buttons at the same time, it will do a hard reboot and enter flashmode.
Step F: Wait till it's done...
everything past item 3 is pretty hard since we can't acces anything on phone(that's bricking a phone right) to enable usb debugging.
Good tutorial though for those who installed a custom rom and they want to revert to original plus root acces.
Any ideea how to force seus or flash to force flash?

cant flash using SEUS...its saying i have latest version but in reality the phone is already bricked by me and not having the original stock firmware... now it just keeps restart with sony erricson logo and turns off again and bootloop...cant root, cant flash... heard that there is some special modified usb that will make the bootloader enter download mode so that we can flash fresh firmware inside it?

You can always flash... post your model and if your bootloader is locked or unlocked ( since you're on SE kernel logo, i assume it's locked), and i can provide you with stock firmware (E10i or U20i) to flash with flashtool.

hi, i am u20i model...i accidentally locked the bootloader while having nna kernel i think, because flashing customised rom and kernel, my phone will enter bootloop, thats why i pressed Restore inside s1tool.exe, which got my bootloader locked....
and now that my bootloader is locked, and i cant root my phone without turning it on( the phone bricked cant turn on anymore) i cant unlock my bootloader to flash new kernels into it... please do provide stock firmware and rom for me... i can only flash stock kernel, but not the rom... after i flashed the stock u20i kernel, i dont know how to flash the original rom into my phone, since now my phone, didnt have the CWM or XRecover anymore, which can browse my SD card, and install the rom from .zip files....
flashing stock kernel no problem but did not know how to flash the stock rom

Download this, It's the complete SE 2.1 Firmware (Kernel and ROM), flashable with flashtool.
(It's about 213.5MB, although the site may display it's less in your download dialog, but it will keep downloading till it's all there)

Hi, I think I may have bricked or softbricked my xperia mini (excuse my noob)
when installing froyobread I forgot to do the factory reset (and back up) and went straight to rebooting however ever since then I've had this problem:
www youtube com/watch?v=jPQIS19ndRY (sorry not allowed to post links yet and not sure what this is called, bootloop?)
For some reason pressing the back button repeated doesn't get me to xrecovery, (the first time I did it I went thru flash tool which I can no longer do because I cant turn my phone on and therefore I can't enable debugging)
This also prevents me from connecting to PCC
What I tried:
tutorial step 6 ...but its been hours and so far that doesnt not seem to be working either. This is what comes up when I tried

You don't need USB Debugging to use Flashtool. Turn your phone off (take off battery if you have to), plug the USB cable in your PC, then press and hold volume down button and plug the microUSB into the phone. You'll be in flashmode.
If you can't use flashtool anyway, repair with PC Companion.
and it was that simple…
thank you so much! Now time for attempt #2

Identify your simlock certificate status. download S1tool here.
- open S1tool and click "DO JOB" on the right.
- turn off your phone, and connect USB cable while pressing BACK button (right button) of your phone.
- check your phone's simlock certificate. if identified as "NOT RECOGNIZED", you can follow the_laser's bootloader bypass method.
How to...
- download qsd8250.7z (courtesy of the_laser).
- flash your phone with standard/generic 2.1 firmware. (PLEASE DO MAKE A BACK-UP BEFORE FLASHING)
- extract qsd8250.7z and run "qsd8250_semc.cmd" from that folder.
- turn on the phone, enable USB debugging and connect the USB cable. just follow the command. you'll see message below
Code:

if you had the same message... you had bypassed the bootloader. it's now unlocked.
- to make sure it's already been unlocked, runt S1tool again.
- the phone should be running S1_EROM ver "r8A022" (with uncapitalized letter 'r')
NOTE: This procedure is an excerpt from the_laser's thread above. I hope I had made it easier for you. This method worked on mine.

try to flash standard/generic 2.1 firmware and unlock BL thru flashtool then.
optionally, you can do the bypass method via "qsd8250_semc.cmd" if flashtool failed.

you'll use flashtool for flashing .ftf firmwares.
use recovery for flashing .zip file. ie roms, add-ons etc.
CM7.2 should be flashed with CWM recovery, which you could also install via flashtool.
just refer in the thread provided above. you'll get used to it..
unlocked BL should never get locked unless you do so.
ganbatte!!!
Ok, but how do I flash with flashtool - is it like flashing kernel?
And to update I do so with SE PC-companion?
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
yes. same process as what you did in your first post.
and make sure you already had generic 2.1 and 2.3 downloaded and copied into C:\Flashtool\firmwares folder. you should see identical files below when you open flashtool, clicked on thunder icon (utmost left button) and chosen flashmode.
then connect your phone in flashmode when prompted (phone turned off, pressing back button while connecting USB cable).
RECAP:
- flash generic 2.1
- root, if not rooted (you can hover your mouse on every icon to identify each)
- unlock bootloader (clicking Plugins-> bootloader ->run)
- install recovery (cross icon), you can install both 0.3 and CWM5. if you want to.
- flash generic 2.3
- flash FXP kernel
on this part, I assumed you already had your CM7.2 rom (.zip) on your SD card.
- boot into CWM recovery (via flashtool or pressing volume down button when blue lights on during kernel boot)
- in CWM recovery mode, make a factory reset. format system in mounts and storage.
- mount data, cache, system, sd-ext (you should see "unmount data" and so on...)
- install .zip on sd-card, and choose the rom in .zip file.... wait for installation.
- reboot, if everything goes right...congrats! you already had a custom rom installed... :good:
Hi!
I have a Xperia X10 Mini Pro (U20) with Stock Firmware (after recovery with "UpdateService" from SE).
I have installed CWM successfully with "CWMInstaller - Windows - v5".
When I try to install "MiniCM7-2.2.1-mimmi" (or 2.2.2) it says that I need a nAA-Kernel but successfully installs CM7.
When I do a reboot CWM says that "recovery is bad and has to be renewed". After that all I get is the white "Sony Ericsson" lettering (again with the option to start CWM when pressing the back button several times).
So I tried to follow this "Bootloader and kernel guide" and unlock my bootloader first using Flashtool. But when the phone restarts it "hangs" on the white "Sony Ericsson" lettering. When I try again, Flashtool tells me that it is not possible to unlock this bootloader.
My phone is produced 10W42 - could it really be that the ancient stock firmware is the only one which works?
All I want is a more modern and fast (lightweight) android version to use my old phone furthermore.
Thanks in advance for your advice and help!

When you install CWM it is installed in the system part of the ROM. When you installed MiniCM7 it got wiped out, because MiniCM7 is for the nAa-kernel, and in that kernel CWM is built in. Which means it doesn't need to be in the MiniCM7 ROM. That's why you lost it.
And ofcourse it 'hangs' on the white SE lettering, because the ROM you installed does not work with the Sony Ericsson kernel.
You say you unlocked the bootloader, so why don't you flash the nAa-kernel?
Prepare flashtool to flash it, then attach the usb-cable and press home- and back-buttons together to force a restart. If the bootloader unlock was successful the flash will get through and after that, you'll have CWM back and you will continue to boot into the ROM too.
And be very careful not to flash the x10blrelock.ftf by accident, it will definitely break your phone. Best is to remove that from the flashtool/firmwares folder before you proceed.

Thanks for your answer, SmG67.
The problem is, that I have _tried_ to unlock the bootloader, but it did not finish. The "s1tool" still shows a capital R in the version ("RUNNING S1_EROM VER 'R8A029'") which means "not unlocked".
I also tried to install the kernel "U20_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf" but this does not work as the bootloader is locked.
So can you give me a tip, how I could move on?

You should not have proceeded to install the ROM in the first place if you didnt unlock it. Open SONY Update Service in PC, click repair and follow what they say. When you connect your phone to PC for repair, follow what SmG67 told you

I am unsettled now, so I want to make sure to do the right things:
I have "repaired" the phone using UpdateService and made the first setup - phone is now running and USB debugging is switched on.
Then I started flashtool and clicked on the flash-button (U20_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf); followed the instructions but it quits working after phone restart with the following output:

Root the phone again with flashtool and then unlock the bootloader using flashtool. After that, you should be able to flash the kernel.

Thanks to your reply, I was able to root the device with flashtool. Afterwards I successfully started Superuser and switched off the phone again.

There are no errors this time, but again nothing more happens: phone is loading and showing orange LED.
I am surprised of the log line saying that "Bootloader status is UNROOTABLE"?
btw: S1info still gives me a uppercase "R" for "not unlocked".
Can I proceed flashing the U20_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf?

That will fail since your bootloader is still locked. Not sure why flashtool failed to unlock it, but maybe you can try the manual method, as linked to in the opening post of the kernel.

You mean to unlock bootloader with "msm7227_semc.cmd" as stated in the "Bootloader and kernel guide" (from above)?
Because this always leads to:
Code:
process requires standard 2.x android firmware.
Drücken Sie eine beliebige Taste . . .
Getting ROOT rights.
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
and the phones LED flashing red sometimes
Thats not the first device I am using custom firmware with, but this phone resists all my attempts.
Finally I managed to run CM7 on my phone following this german instruction.
My mistake was that during the flash process the phone has to be switched on normally and not to be connected in flashmode (pressing back button while plugging USB in).
Thanks for your suggestions and hints!
