Is there a way to back up/restore everything between roms? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Just wondering. I just flashed JellyBeans and so far I'm not sure if I want to keep it. Might go back to CleanROM. But it gets tiring having to set everything up over and over. There has to be a way to just back everything up and restore it after installing a new rom.

Titanium Backup (app) can backup/restore your apps and appdata.
A Nandroid backup (recovery) can backup the entire rom, basically creating a duplicate of what your phone is currently running.

refer to the glossary section of my guide.

Thanks guys.

No, not when you take the backup. When you restore you shouldn't have to either.

Don't use this to restore your apps between flashes. It restores system data too abs you very well will have issues on your new ROM. Use titanium backup to restore your apps. Of You pay for the pro version it t only takes 1 click.

Why didnt titanium backup work?
Dont know but restoring with that just messed up everything and i had to reflash the rom

yes, only install CWM and you make a NANdroid Backup, ... flash whit the new room and reinstalling the recovery CWM, and give in advanced-backup-restore here only select data...
sorry for my bad english

I have been using it for long. But never had any problem. Don't get what problem you had!
Jeah, install CWM recovery and use NANDROID backup(like adiles sayed) for RESTORING(its the BEST WAY). But if you want only restore you APPS, then you can use TITANIUM BACKUP. It works very well!
CHEERS!
What exactly does nan droid backup restore??
Sent from my Galaxy ace using Tapatalk
Nandroid is a complete backup of your system. But with advanced restore you can also only restore the phone settings.
I wouldn't advise you to restore settings from a Froyo ROM to a Gingerbread one though.
Same goes with Titanium Backup. When you upgrade to GB, just reinstall the Apps from market and only restore Appdata with Titanium.
When changing from a stock gb rom to a custom gb rom is it safe to do a complete nandroid backup? Or i should only backup the app data with titanium?

Both the things are completely different.
Nadroid backup is used backup complete rom(system, recovery, apps, data, cache, settings).
Whereas titanium backup can only backup apps & data.
You can only restore with titanium backup after you have a working rom & titanium backup installed.
Whereas with nandroid you can restore if you have cwm recovery working.
Hit thanks if I helped!!!
Considering this thread I can't see why you were able to troll in the GingerReal thread when you don't even know as much as this.

Restoring from CWM

I tried restoring a backup of a stock ROM, but upon start up, it comes up with the tutorial setup to find it hasn't restored any of my applications, only my system settings. Can someone explain what the hell is happening?

By restoring a backup in CWM. It just doesn't seem to restore any applications.
Can't say what your problem is there, but it might be worth investing in titanium backup pro (batch restore saves a lot of time and effort). Hope you get your apps back.

I use Titanium Backup already It's just easier using a nandroid back up for me. Didn't back up in Titanium Backup unfortunately but I managed to retrieve me apps by using App Extractor to extract the applications and contacts from the nandroid backup

Best way to backup the S3

Hi there, I'm kinda new to android and was wondering: is there a way to back up the S3 like the iPhone? Where everything gets backed up into a file and if i were to reformat my phone I can just restore it and everything will be there. Thanks.
I really like Go Backup. Never had an issue with it, even from going to stock firmware to CM9 or 10, which usually ruins titanium backups.
But the one file backup would be a nandroid, which is done through recovery.

Yes you can restore but it is not advisable..will create conflicts and FCs..Best bet is to restore all the apps with data from TB..all the apps will have their settings intact..only problem is TW launcher but if you are going to AOSP then that is not a problem...otherwise backup TWlauncher also and restore it with Data..force closes may come though..
Titanium Backup works great for me, but be careful restoring system aps.
Make a nandroid backup just in case you mess something up

+1.......the most overlooked, but most important backup of all, everything else is just a matter of data loss, but losing efs= goodbye precious!

How to update from omega 27v to 28v without losing games data?

Hello guys, is that possible? Everytime I do a backup restore with titanium backup full version, it never restores the game packages, which makes me a bit reluctant in doing a full wipe before flashing a new Ron
Only wipe cache, and dalvik then just flash....any options to format data....decline

Open titanium, press menu choose backup data to xml.
For TW, backup the TW apps and restore only data. Widgets cannot be restored though, only folders.

Backing up EVERYTHING with TWRP?

How do I do a FULL backup of my phone with TWRP?
What do you mean by full? Kernel, rom, all that as well as contacts, apps, settings etc?

goto backup and select all the options there.. :good: This is called the Nandroid Backup.
It will backup all the settings, data and evrything you had on you mobile except your data files(images, songs)
If you only want to backup apps, go for Titanium Backup. :good:

If you use PhilZ Touch instead you have the choice via custom backup to back up everything including even external sd if you wish and even efs, radio/baseband, etc.

I would need to remove twrp, then install CWM, then philz touch?
Can I manually backup everything? Or use titanium?

PhilZ Touch already includes a specific version of CWM and will install that for you. You don't have to first remove TWRP; when you install a new recovery it overwrites it. As for whether to use Titanium Backup, that is a very good app (especially the Pro version) and it all depends on what you need to back up. Your original post indicated that you are wanting to back up everything and that you were not just talking about user apps and data. I personally use both nandroids and Titanium Backups. Nandroids are awesome for reverting back to a previous state if you mess something up while trying a new ROM (or just didn't like the new ROM). Titanium Backup Pro lets you install/migrate all of your user apps and settings to the new ROM (Pro version lets you do it in a batch action that only takes a couple minutes). Good luck!

I just want to backup all my settings and files just incase I break something. Or if I like the new Rom, I just want to transfer my apps and files over.
