Yes, it is the 10g update. Fixes wifi tethering and some security issues. You may loose root if you update.
If you have root and want to update, voodoo ota root keeper "may" allow you to restore root.
There is currently no way to roll back to 10e.

Yeah my phone pushed it I couldn't stop it as I was sleeping when it did so I guess I'm stuck with no root

10g for the us t-mobile l9 is a fix for wifi tethering, and an excuse for t-mobile and lg to break your root. the us l9 may never see jellybean.

The update didnt work on my phone. I got it over the weekend, though I am rooted and have OTA root keeper installed.
It rebooted to the flash screen and then an exclamation point popped up so I had to reboot. Still on 10e

I'm rooted on 10e and have voodo rootkeeper installed. Is there anyway I can safely prevent the update from continuing to prompt me? Don't want it to somehow restart and install itself unknowingly.

Little somethin' somethin' I dug up ;]

I don't understand. Wifi and Bluetooth also 'disabled by server policy'. I cannot re-enable them.

update failed for me also with a dead-looking android and red exclamation triangle. reboot by taking out the battery got me back to 10e, and now it says there are no updates available

I just did the OTA update to 10G and when it finished I went into voodoo root keeper and was able to restore root!

That is great news. Can u please confirm the root Full access with no issues with busybox or supersu?

How would you like me to do this? Sorry, I'm new to android, I bought this phone on the 13th, rooted it the next day, and have just been teaching myself everything. Would you like a screenshot? Video?

just install titanium backup and if you try to use it will ask root permission etc and it that works, u have full function root.
i have custom recovery installed so when i try to install 10g it failed. do you have custom recovery as well?

I did not install a custom recovery since it seemed like it was not polished yet. I already had Titanium Backup Installed, when I opened it just now I just had to grant it permission through SuperSU. Now in Titanium Backup it says Root access: OK (BusyBox 1.18.4-Titanium from app) and SQLite: YES (SQLite 3.7.6.3-Titanium included). When I go into ES File Explorer I can mount /system and view files. In Juice Defender's Activity Log it states The device is rooted.

Off course you can use in this case your own CDA.
(I tried to write it in such a way that somebody with minor knowledge is able to do this faultless.)

Alright. I don't care if i lose stuff. I got it all "up in the cloud", so no biggie.
Alright, all i have left is to update to 257 again, but i only have 33% battery left and it's not possible to do it unless i have at least 50%. Just typical Everything else went smooth, and i didn't have any issues
Edit: I'm done updating, and i got root
Edit 2: Hah! I tried using Sony's own backup app before downgrading and everything, feeling that the backup wouldn't be there after the full wipe, but it is indeed there and i have some game saves and stuff there! Awesome!

Its called OTA root keeper for a reason...
thanks for posting these steps in a simple straighforward way! i did them with no issue whatsoever, and have root on .257. i have a 6802 and used the .532 for 6802 from Hamdogg's thread, and i didn't even have to mess with CDA/build.prop... the OTA was already there, and installed without issue.
one question: do i need the SuperSU from the market, as described in the Vroot thread, or did i not need to download that, since there is already a Superuser installed to /system/app?

Root 257 firmware the easiest way (for those who havent updated yet)

Ok im not sure if everyone has updated to 257 but this is for those who havent updated because of losing root access. I know someone who just bought an XZ Ultra and on rooted firmware 510, he received a notification for .257 update. OTA was about 80plus MB. He accepted the OTA and after it got installed, root remained on his device. So for those who are on a 257 firmware and cant root their device because of "do this, do that method" (which i did to get root when 257 rolled out) all u need to do is to downgrade to an old firmware (510 or 537) which can be rooted using vroot, root the device, go to settings/about phone/software update and if u get a 257 update notification, download it and let it install. Voila! Phone is now running 257 and rooted.

[Q] .257 root

I'm a total Sony noob. I ditched the galaxy note line and my beloved galaxy mega in return for my xperia ultra. Stupidly I let it update to the latest firmware (. 257) now it seems I'm stuck without a root method. I've searched around xda and it seems the only way to root my ultra is to unlock the bootloader wiping my drm keys from the ta partition. So I have the choice between having root or having x reality, Sony apps and a warrantee. Can someone please confirm if this is correct? is or will there be another way?
Android without root may as well be ios and I don't want to have to get out the mega and demote my ultra to 'work phone' status
Thanks, James
This might be correct at the present time. Previously in your situation we were doing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502185. However i believe Vroot has been pulled, at least for now, due to potentially beimg malware. Haven't heard any news on that for a while now tho.

Hi James,
Let me give you the 411 on Sony devices.
Firstly Sony devices are almost impossible to brick. The only real way to brick your phone is to try and do an update when the battery is at 10% or something, and the battery goes totally flat.
(then it wont be able to hold charge, so will basically be a SD storage device that cannot retain information)
Unlocking bootloader- This is something you will probably want to do, but at a later date. The only real advantage of this is that modified kernels and ROM's can be flashed. At the moment x-reality isn't lost when you unlock your bootloader. But track ID is lost.
- You can undo this
Root - It's highly unlikely that IMEI numbers were harvested. They were ready, but we don't know anything else.
- You can undo root
Backing up your TA partition - (done after Rooting) This is done so if something goes wrong, then you are able to re-flash your TA partition, and restore your device back to stock, and still be covered under your warranty. Inside this partition, is a store of device information. DRM keys, IMEI, MAC address... etc.
- You can undo this
Recovery - Im sure you know this...
Essentially what every you do you can undo. Sony are really dev friendly. Kind of what Samsung used to be like.

Link doesn't work. Yes, you can get root, back up your TA, get recovery aaand I don't know what that link does, so I don't know. But you can install SuperSU and remove the root app from vRoot. Keep in mind that it's not the vRoot root app that's suspicious but the desktop app.
Still, we have no idea at this point so you can either root and live with it or you can wait it out and see what the investigation brings up.

Does anyone have a TWRP or CWM recovery image that can be flashed and booted on. 257? Or do you have to flash the CWM kernel, flash any zips you want, then reflash the .257 kernel in order to boot up and run? Is the recovery always tied to the kernel on this device? A lotta questions, i know

Sorry bud but that update disabled root completely, and if your bootloader isn't unlocked, the only way I know how to restore root is by perform an offline or online restore with B2C app
Mr. Duck forgot to tell you that it's unaltered and flashing it will make you lose root (because it changes the owner of the xbin folder and files).

There is a link to it in the post that BigBison420 quoted. Note that you need zv4 for custom roms and kernels.

I have same phone and also rooted with Kingroot and I not sure if its my best option atm and have 2 questions about it.
1. Is this the app that giving me the screen when phone is idle that trying to sell me something as I like to remove that screen.
2. How can I remove Kingroot and get a root that use Super SU or any other good root that working besides Kingroot?
