Hey.. I have a samsung galaxy sIII international.. i have a custom rom installed (cyanogenmod 10.1) latest nightly...running on siyah kernel 1.8.9
So since i installed cyanogenmod when i click the power button the device dosn't lock immediately it takes like 1.5 second to lock...same as the unlock..everything else on this rom is fully working and great.. i just want to solve that problem :/
Please help me and thanks
Please Don't be like "search in xda you will find the answer" because i did that
thanks..
I have experienced something similar, but only in unlock screen, my solution was change to a more aggressive governor like Luztactiveq

Sadly, yes, aggressive governor means less battery life...
But as I have 2 additional batteries, so it doesn't concern me...

so why many people use siyah kernel or similar ones?
Overclocking. But unless your a ridiculously heavy user... u don't need too on this quad core beast
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Of course custom kernels offer undervolting.. which greatly improves battery. Slows the phone down though.. and that is if its stable.

Undervolting doesn't actually slow down the phone, the CPU still runs at the same speeds just on a lower voltage. I have undervolted my s3 by -75mv per step and it is still very stable and runs the same as before, and now my.battery life is amazing

Well...
Dude, i think i should not answer it as you are asking personally from one person....
But heres my opinion->
I tested about 4 Kernels.
And it was strange to see that none was there with 0 problems. Everyone had some or other problem.
My mission was overclocking.
No kernel worked well except Siyah.
So i will only refer Siyah.
About versions, i would choose the latest as it may have more features and less bugs.
So just go for latest.

Jaskaran probably just answered your question but I use siyah v 1.5 beta 4,.so the latest one pretty much. The stock settings of the kernel are good but if.youre looking to tweak and don'tknow what you're doing there's a good.guide in the 2ND post of the official thread
Sorry, can't link you it.. Still Under 10 posts haha

Hello there, I'm using a S3 with stock rom which is modified (crt, brightness and sound levels,) . I wanted to also flash a kernel to improve usability and battery, but nothing extremely conservative. Could someone recommend me a popular and stable one?
Thanks in advance, if you think I should try a different kernel for a different experience, let me know
Thanks

Hello there i was wondering is there any chance of changing the s3 korean firmware to european .
Next week i'm getting a korean s3 but i really want to change the firmware
Now I have a s2 that was 250s and then i changed it to i9100
Well i googled and searched in xda forums but i didn't found anything about it
Is it possible to change the firmware with flashing the korean kernel for it . Or the radio chip stuff is like mars and venus
No, because your phone doesn't have the same hardware with International one.

Yeah, just download an europian firmware from http://www.samfirmware.com by searching "I9300" and flash it with Odin. You need to sign up to download the firmware.

True . Still I bought gt-i9300 lol so that is not a problem anymore . I have a question again . What is the advantages of having branded s3 between unbranded s3
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Not much? If you're rooted anyway. Not gonna get updates early if you're branded. But custom roms sort that out.
No noticeable difference when it comes to actual usage

Again a personal question . I used CF-root for stock kernel on my gt-i9100 because syiah , philz seems to lag . Did on my i9300 too . I understand that they have more battery life , but overclocking them leads to fast battery drain , is that right? So i prefer staying stock. Well i don't play with my phone , i play with my gtab 7500 more
If you don't need the extra performance, no need to overclock. I did it for the heck of it then realised I don't actually need it so went back to stock. Overclocking does lead to faster drain but some kernels also provide under volt support so they kind of negate each other in terms of battery.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So undervolting could save battery in theory? I heard it destroys the battery even the phone in whole .
Heard too much stories of dead phone because of undervolting and overclocking. Because of idiots putting overclocking and undervolting on maximum. But they just dont know what are they doing.
Thanks a lot . Sorry for so much bothering

no need to calibirate then thanks ! In mongolian phone shops we have a chinese battery with more mhA(like+300) and i have tested so far . The charging goes approximatly 6 hours when the original takes 4 can it damage phone particles . I have to assure undervolting goes without problem . From what volt should i start . I m asking because i work in mining geological team and the reason i bought this phone is the gps glonass

Better battery with Rooted Stock ROM
I had Liquidsmooth 2.1 earlier on my S3 and then uped to 2.2 official. My phone went for a toss so I switched to Stock rom. What I noticed is that the rooted stock was giving better battery life than I got with Liquid. Am not sure why.
Also, are you running custom ROM or stock?
