[Q] Hipstreet Aurora - Need help putting CM 10 on - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so i just bought Hipstreet Aurora (HS-7DTB6-8GB) and i happened to notice a button under backup and reset in settings for the recovery menu.
I have access to apply update from external storage however i know its not safe to use a default recovery menu in case of a brick,
Its been quite some time since i had my HTC Dream and had put Cyanogen on that, so im a bit rusty, i just need a more experienced user to guide me through flashing CM10 on an a unknown tablet, i was surprised to find the recovery menu on it.
any ways i would need someone to show me how to go about doing so, im sure alot of people here have experience flashing newer untested androids.
if it is of any help here is the

much appreciated to any one who replies and has experience in this field.
and if i am able to get this done ill happily post a tutorial for other Hipstreet owners
EDIT - it also appears that the tablet comes rooted, im able to over clock it with voltage control.

I'd also like to second this. I will post a file with the full specs of the tablet. I have looked at the AllWinner A10 page but it's stated for CM9 and I am unable to find enough information to see if other tablets with similar hardware and specs will work with CM.
This is quite a decent tablet, once you remove all the background junk (TitaniumBackupPro) overclock it (SetCPU) you can run some decent apps on it. Been playing Order&Chaos on it nicely. Though, messenger type apps are quite slow and so is the inbuilt browser. Firefox doesn't help all that much either so with CM10's features it will run quite nicely. Too bad the tablet is missing Bluetooth, tend to tether internet with that =P

unfortunately no, waiting on a response, im thinking tomorrow i will post on cyanogenmod's forum requesting a port, i'll post the link here if anything.
the demand for a port must not be small seeing as we have 3 people here all waiting on the same thing.

still no luck

Cmon I'm sick of the crap that came with this >_< so much that's in it that doesn't need to be there >_> and would be nice to use the CM settings for overclocking instead of relying on SetCPU and it's slowness x-x especially on this tablet with such limited RAM =S
EDIT: I would take the time in going about experimenting myself but you see I don't have another tablet to replace and haven't really been able to go about learning how to create my own ROM especially at the level of CM >_>
As soon as time is free I'll take it a shot though ^_^

So I am hoping for a possible CM10 Mod for the Hipstreet Aurora, but in the meantime I am going to try and develop my own ROM for this tablet in hopes to increase performance, remove unwanted bloatware and increase the user experience without the nags of what this tablet comes with. If anyone with a considerable amount of experience in Custom ROM building is willing to take up this, I'll be more than willing to accept your help. I'll send you a Stock ROM once such is opened to discussion.
I'll post a new thread in the means of a new project.
P.S This tablet has really good potential, just with some decent tweaks, this tablet will actually run quite well.

Glad you are working on a rom for this. I've been fighting with a hipstreet aurora HS-7DTB6-8GBR (Allwinner A13) 1112V706
So far I bricked it with an app called android tuner, then I learned to use file suit to flash the Tragidy momo firmware to it. The tablet does work again, but with minor problems. Since the tragidy firmware is for a Chinese tablet with the same motherboard, the momo has a different case with different buttons, screen and gyro. So now my touchscreen is completely reversed (display is okay), the headphone jack doesnt work, and the gyro doesnt work either. On the plus side I can use it with a mouse through the usb dongle, and with a hub even a keyboard. Also the tragidy build is much faster, and has a working google play store.
I have decided to dust off my ubuntu crate and will attempt to modify the tragidy firmware to properly map the buttons, touchscreen, and gsensors.
I do hope hope you are more successful than I am and look forward to your results, as I'm not entirely confident in my ability to translate my very limited linux kernel skills to the android kernel.

Hmm, well since you already have a semi-stable firmware, with reference, you could get the firmware to run like a charm. I'm currently running Windows and have had some promising outcomes, along with some drawbacks, but I can say that this tablet could be promising. :good:

Hi, any update on the ROM that you're building? I'm actually looking for a stock ROM for Hipstreet Aurora - my sister handed me a bricked Aurora and it had no backup ROM, even the recovery mode seems busted. Anyway, I found a HS Aurora firmware dump online (I forgot the link though) but data.tgz was missing so the restore via adb and Uberizer was not a success. I've managed to flash a Momo9 Tragidy firmware (everything ok except for gsensor and button mapping) and also tried another a13 firmware (it runs faster, but again auto-rotate doesn't work and button functions are interchanged). I'm thinking of going back to the stock ROM - I think I have a better chance at removing the bloatware and customizing it than fixing the gsensor and the buttons.
UPDATE: I was able to remap the buttons using Button Remapper, my only problem now is the gsensor/ auto-rotate.

Stock Firmware
Hey, was wondering if any of you have a rom dump of the stock firmware. I didnt backup mine before I flashed it. I did get the touch screen and gsensor working perfect now, but my front camera doesnt work, but the back camera does. Hope someone has a rom dump. Thanks in advance!

[Q] Help with Cybernav Mini tablet. Cant flash firmware

Help needed. I turned off my chinese tablet (Cybernav Mini) and the next time I turned in on it showed: "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly... Force Close. ". It shows up again, one after another. I press Force Close and then quickly another pops up, showing the same or a similar message.
I can't use the tablet as those messages block any other function of the tablet, i can turn it off by long press the power button or pressing the reset button but when it reboots, it happens all over again. Even after draining the battery for few days, when i boot it again, same problem happens. The problem is after i click on Force Close, it gives me another error too fast and i can't do anything like installing or use any app.
I contacted support and they sent me the last firmware for the device (YFPI08), but when I put the folder it in the external microSD card and power it on, it wont read it and instead it will go through the normal boot process and the Sorry! force close problem comes back again. I can't find a combination of pressing the two only hardware buttons it's got that could take me into some sort of rescue boot either.
I tried fastboot from my computer but it doesnt recognize the connected tablet.
I can't find any other way, as I am not too familiar with Android, and every solution seems to be very device specific oriented. So please, if there is a solution, I would appreciate your help.
Cheers

I doubt there is any custom rom for that tablet, nevertheless, if you know where I can find one, and how to do it, please, link me to the right place.
Also it is worth to mention that when this problem happened, I was playing with the Z4root app, so there is a possibility that I accidentally messed up with the rooting of the tablet. Would that make sense?
Cheers
45 reads no reply, someone must have at lest a simple suggestion, like bin the tablet or something, but I was told that here I was going to get some help in this forum. No one?

OK. Tested with the device using PhoenixCard img writer. The tablet boots up, but in safe-mode.
WIFI not working. But everything else seems to work.
I'm guessing the wifi chip in this device (PW08) isn't the same as in the YDPG18, though almost everything else is, except it's only a gps device.
Didn't test if the gps works ... still testing to see if there are some ics firmwares working for the device.
Dracotek did send me a link to the stock firmware, downloadable from 4shared - ask them for it I guess.
Link had this image in it:

A question about this...
I use PhoenixCard on a Win7 computer to "burn" an image to inserted sdcard. Mounting the result shows a "dynamic" folder full of 512 byte bin files.
So, I put said card in the CyberNav and turn it on. It boots normally and, after a short while, says "safe to remove sdcard." No rom update.
Am I doing anything wrong here?
Now, I'm attempting this because I mucked the internal sdcard partitions and it is entirely possible that said mucking is stopping the external sdcard from being read on boot. But, I just wanted to verify the proceedure I'm following before I start down the partition editing route.
Any suggestions?
David...
Your device should boot up showing a progress-bar if you insert a working upgrade sdcard.
When finished screen will say CARD OK and the device will shut down.
Remove the sdcard before booting up again.
If you do not remove the upgrade card the device will start to upgrade itself over again.
The sdcard indeed show a folder called dynamic with 100+ small files.
The upgrade files are in a hidden (to windows anyways) partition.
What firmware are you trying to flash?

Ahh, CyberNav Mini, not Mini II. I tried the pw08_20120428 and xTAB-50 images.
So, now I'm left wondering... is the failure to load the rom because the bootloader is smart enough to recognise an incorrect rom or is it dumb enough to give up on a bad partition? I'm still thinking it's the partitions.
But, I guess now I'm still looking for a working rom for the thing too. I may not need it if I can fix the partition problem without causing further damage. But, it would be nice to have that backup. Thanks for pointing out my error above... I missed the Mini to Mini II transition.
I'm just trying to get the CyberNav working again... not really interested in a latest/greatest upgrade as it did exactly what I wanted very well. I mounted it on the handlebar of my dirtbike with custom maps. Worked great, right up until I downloaded the latest track and left it there attached to my computer... that evening I went to make an Ubuntu USB startup disk... stupid, stupid, stupid...
Then again, my new tablet should arrive today or Tuesday... 10" and, yes, I'm going to mount that on my dirtbike too Thus is the benefit of using cheap Chinese tablets... If I don't fix my little CyberNav, no real tears. It would be nice, and I'm looking at it as a learning opportunity, but if it bricks in the end... such is life, only $100. Even the 10" is still in the disposable price range.
Thanks for confirming that I was doing the PhoenixCard part correctly - that's good to know,
David...

Perhaps it is possible to get a working firmware from Freeway AX
This device looks like a match. Just replace the boot-logo with something you like (if you can stand to read some polish)
Put the firmware files in a folder called 'yfpi08' on the sdcard.
It looks like the firmwares are all android 2.2 - ICS on a 800mhz device is perhaps too much to ask?
saluzinside Thursday, September 13, 2012 4:41 AM
I contacted the producer (YF) and they gave me the latest revision of the firmare:
FRF85B.yf.v2.2-104-g1b33231
They also told me that the YFPI08 is now out of production and this will be the last firmware revision.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18965091/YFPI08_yf.v2.2-104.zip
Just unpack the zip in your SD, make sure the "YFPI08" folder is present.
If you don't want to change the start image, remove "logo.bmp".
With this firmware my YFPI08 runs smooth and fast and all seems to work fine.

Yes, I've already grabbed the yfpi08 image (3 versions actually, no idea what's different between them yet) but got the impression they were for the 7" rather than the 5". Also, it could explain why I'm reading conflicting methods for the update: Mini = put img file on sdcard (in folder ??), Mini 2 = PhoenixCard. This Android fragmentation is crazy... so many different versions and methods to deal with each. Still trying to get my head wrapped around that.
> ...if you can stand to read some polish...
Ah... I'm Canadian... Japanese wife, Chinese tablet... we don't care I was a little surprised after the first factory reset and having Android come up entirely in Chinese... took a few minutes to find the language options It's all part of the fun,
David...
More: now YFPI08_yf.v2.2-104.zip from the above clubdx forums looks very interesting. My CyberNav lists 2.2-103-gb456292 as the OS version. An UPGRADE 2.2-103 to 2.2-104. Thanks for the link. Now I have 4 versions of that yfpi08 rom to try.
well, this is looking better.
I just did the system img (left all the others out, for now) and it actually did the update as expected. So, yes, the bootloader can read the sdcard if there's something useful on it.
Sadly, after switching the system back into English, it still can't access the internal sdcard.
So, I did it again with all the the files (nice background image by the way) and that updated the bootloader. With the same result. It appears that reverting to another ROM, factory default or otherwise, does not fix my partition errors. But, the good news is that I now most definitely have a factory ROM to revert to if I need it.
So long as I don't brick the device, I'm good. I can be a little more aggressive on the partition editing... just need to make sure i don't wipe out that bootloader and I should be okay.
I did notice that the other image from the links above has a "force.bin" file included. I also noticed that my second update didn't bother doing the system.img file. I suspect said 'force.bin' file forces this? No google hits on that at all... might try it one day if all else fails.
I think I'll start a new thread on partition editing rather than hijacking this one. At this point, I'd say the thread is solved, thanks to craigsoup, for both for the Mini and Mini-2. Thanks again,
David...

Telechips TCC8803, 2Din Car Media Center Running Android 4.0.4 ICS

The Pad was delivered rooted, and that was just great, so i did some modifications, such as installing Chainfires SU, Link to sd, Online nandroid and a few more goodies that a rooted android needs.
Now....here is what wend wrong, checked out the busybox installed on the pad and it was version 1.8.3 and wend in and installed busybox manager and could see that there was an update for the busybox to version 1.20.2 if i remember correctly, so i updated and everything wend smoothly, until i rebooted the pad...suddenly everything was changed, i had to calibrate the pad and so on...basically it had lost the whole configuration.
Then i wend in and checked storage!! the internal storage was now in 0.00 mb left....meaning, even when going in and wanting to re install something, there is no space, and every time i reboot i have to redo the whole thing cause it cannot keep the settings.
It runs a 3e recovery. there is a wipe/reset but it will not let me get down to the "yes wipe/reset" i can only choose the NO.
I would appreciate it, if anyone has any knowledge to this and how i can get it back to the original state.
the issue came when updating the busybox.

Had more info on the pad, but got lost after updating the busybox and loosing connection to the installed apk´s
Looking forward getting some inputs from some people in here, it would be greatly appreciated!!!:good:
PS! if it is possible to to get a cwm rec. for this would be great. I have checked some other threads in here, but they are running unofficial cyanogenmod 7 running gb with a cwm 5 made for that.
Edited:
Turns out that Busybox manager installed the busybox in \xbin instead of \sbin.
After a bit of browsing found this very helpful thread at: http://tabletrepublic.com
As there still was a file explorer that was a system apk, i could get to the external SDcard and install root explorer.
I then copied the busybox file from \xbin to \sbin, rebooted the tab and voila.....all back to normal again.
Hope it will help others that experience the same frustration after updating busybox.

I just got one of these radios and was wondering if there was any more going on with this tablet. Not much is found about it when searching. It would be great to be able to do a swap of the internal system space with the external sd as the internal space is small 256mb for system & 4gb for internal sd.
Hello
I also can not find the recovery cwm for this model which is equal to your!!!only that my car radio is called XTRONS 728AD will be of the same family of radio.

I solved with Link2SD but you have to root the tablet to do this and I created a partition on the external sd in EXT2. In practice Link2SD installed on the external sd and create a shortcut of the app in such a way that the free internal memory and install any app you want
As you can see from the screeshot I have installed many applications it is I still have 111mb free of internal memory

Hi there kevinhilde!!! Great going with the Link2sd mod you did. Could you perhaps be a bit more specific as to what steps you did to do this, so others and i could perhaps do the same?

I am in some dialog with some Devs in here, perhaps they will give it a go on looking closer on this rom. But until we get a Dev that has this type of android hybrid and would give it a go on creating a Rom, i guess we are stuck on the 4.0.4 version. Would be great getting a jellybean ore kitkat version on this, but it will take long time to recompile and also create a recovery for this.
Would like to give it a try on creating a Rom, but i am not that savvy, and time is something i do not have right now.
I hope we can find some more on this and perhaps get an update from China. To bad they did not use cwm or twr recovery instead, this rom being rooted and all.

Crane C12R1 2 din Android accelerometer GPS Wi-Fi Bluetooth radio car deck
Hi all,
Can you please post on here what exactly you managed to do to restore your device to factory spec? I cannot seem to be able to do a proper factory restore. My tablet is almost the same as this one (go on ebay and search for this string: "Android 4.0 7" Car DVD GPS Radio Stereo Player WiFi 3G+Tablet"), but has a 500 MHz CPU. The seller is the same too and am communicating with him to get the issue resolved as a 1 year warranty is claimed.
*Please PM me for links to the problem of the video as I need to do 10 posts before being allowed to post outside links.*
Edit: If you want to search for yourself, on Youtube, search for "Crane C12R1 2 din Android 4.0.4 car deck with removable table. Invalid Key issues." and also "Crane C12R1 2 din Android 4.0.4 car deck with removable table. Factory reset issues." by author Alexander Huzar.
Summary: when I push the PAD button, it says “invalid key” and does not enter Android mode. Entering recovery mode, I can only cycle the first "No" options, I cannot go down further to select the "Yes" option. Any help trying to reset to factory is most appreciated.

i removed the battery overnight but nothing changed.
any suggestions/help seriously needed. i have not even yet installed the radio. was playing with the pad till i get time to do the installation.

took it from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572265
My problem is I've accidentialy deleted my /system/app/* and /data/app* files trying to free some space / I wanted to copy it on extsd card with X-plore app but it didn't work out for me I've copied the files above the number of the sdcard and they're gone / don't do this it's dangerous, and I've lost all of them. And my tablet started with the errors and stuff and I wanted to throw it off the window, than I settled down for a bit.And before a week or so I've started looking for 4.0.4 roms compatitable system apps for my rom, I've tried maybe 40 roms by now /I download the rom / extract the /system/app, and /data/app folder and try to run the tablet, but it didn't work out. I managed to run it with modacocustomrom reading one of xda threads but it started throwing exceptions. Then I've started deleting one by one system apps and I've come to the conclusion that the system could run only with 3 apk's - launcher, settings and settings storage. It started but it is not the same and I've lost all my preffs and stuff.
Please if someone have C12R1 send me /system/app/ and /data/app files. for 4.0.4 android
Appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
And could you tell me how to unpack this rom (WooComet-MiOptimusOne.com -ICS_4.0.4- F1中性-20120920.1.0.3-A721_V4.2.img) from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925577 without the device connected to pc and this program: LiveSuit.exe. I've tryed with dd in linux on flash and with mounting img in linux but it coudn't work out why?
I've tried to unpack the img with ext4 unpacker and ext2 explorer too but it couldn't work out.
please help!
Ok guys I managed to do this, I've made the last step /flashing the rom (I wanted just to copy the system files in internal memory in /system/app and /data/app but couldn't find it anywhere), I did'nt wanted to do it this way but I've done it cause it wasn't anything else left to try after long sleepless nights
I've installed a new stock rom sun4i_crane_t02a.img and android launched but now I have another significant problem - I dont have a proper driver and my touch screen does not work.
And my android's usb debugging is not with turned on and I cant use adb or so....
Any ideas?
Please if someone have this touch screen drivers or stock or other rom that works on this device please send it to me!
This is the exact device:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-Di...92768377.html&cv=11032041&af=cj_6149808&vd=30
but I cant find roms anywhere for it
Hi Razer69
I see you still have problems with your device.
Well before i wend on a Rom hunt i have managed to install CWM recovery on mine and make a backup of the stock rom, in order to test various roms, and if they do not work i restore the stock.
If you want i can create a link for you so you can download it and install it. Bare in mind though i have made some mods prior to the stock rom so it worked a bit better that when it arrived.
Did also find a link for your issue with the touch screen ----> http://www.pandawillforum.com/archive/index.php?t-12129.html
Cheers
G
Could you share how did you managed to install custom rom - clockworks - CWM because that is my problem now.
I can't install the rom because I've flashed my device - all partitions - kernel, recovery, rom - with LiveSuite and .img file but eventually
I found out this rom is not for my device - the rom I've installed is C12 not C12r1, and I'm still looking for C12r1.
Thank you for your answer
I've come to the conclusion I'ts wrong rom that's why the touch screen is not working.
This guys are writing the same here:
http://www.pandawillforum.com/archive/index.php?t-12129.html
"sun4i_crane_t02a.img is not work with FT5306DE4 Chipset,is wrong point of touch screen"
Today I'll try their methods

[Q] How can I upgrade my generic tablet (brand Lenco)?

Dear Xda-team
First of all, let me congratulate you for the excellent job you do.
It’s a wonder to the eyes to see the degree of professionalism behind the visible side of this site.
I hope you can help me with my issue, having in mind my experience that I don’t have any experience yet installing new android firmwares.
I have a Lenco Tab-720 with the following carateristics:
• Android 4.1
• 8gb internal memory
• 512 MB Ram and 1.2GHZ cpu
and when I connect it to my computer, it says Alcatel Android ADB Interface, somewhere inside the driver details.
The tablet itself is nice in size and the screen is good, but it’s awfully slow, even if I have only facebook, a game or two, some Banking apps and outlook app.
My issue is that I can't find no tutorials or how to that explain to me how can I simply change my sluggish android 4.1 to something more fast.
One good thing about this tablet, is that comes with the following option
“Save and Reboot” ----System Upgrade ----Recovery mode – Reboot into the system in Recovery Mode. Can clear the data or system upgrade.
From what I understood when reading other threads, is that that will allow me to skip a custom recovery mod, correct?
Therefore, could you please explain me which are the necessary steps in order to make this tablet run smoother, while improving the overall software experience?
I honestly don't know if the tablet will handle Android 5.0 , but maybe with kitkat it will be tasty enough.
Thank you so much for your time.:good:
Best regards
Tiedefender
Dear members
I contacted Lenco support team and they send me a firmware file:
A13_86VS_M758CHD_1303086.20130329
But , when I open PhoenixSuit 1.08, it says:
Firmware version = v1.2_13011 A13_86VSH_M758CHD.20130329
Android version = 4.1.1
The A13 that I see above has anything to do with other A13 tablets?
If yes, how can I root and upgrade my tablet?
Thanks

MT6577 camera won't work after flashing stock ROM

Hi all,
I'm quite new with android and this explains why I'm here asking for help and direction to solve a problem. I've a chinese phone based on MT6577 hw; it's branded ORDRO P550 4.1.1. Well, months ago I was able to root it but after some months it started to be unresponsive and very slow. Perhaps because I moved some software from ROM to SD in order to get more free memory. In fact, MT65xx comes out with only 512 MB of ROM/RAM. So, I found and application named MT65xx_repartition and I decided to check if it did what it promised. Basically, it claims to be able to repartition the internal memory, using phone's internal memory to increase phone's RAM.
I made a backup of what I needed and I was able to find a stock ROM of the same model from a web site.
After running the repartition program my poor phone did not start up again; it only showed the small robot wit a big exclamation mark. OK, I thiught, I've the original ROM.....let's re-flash and learn something new. After several attempts to install USB drivers on my virtual Win7/64 box I was able to re-flash the ROM again. Et voila'....it was reborn but, alas, a little bit handicapped.
First of all the IMEI was wrong or not existent so I got no carrier and secondly, the camera didn't work at all.
For the IMEI issue I was able to fix it thanks to Mobileuncle Tools (fortunately I made a backup of IMEI before proceed) but I could not find a solution for the camera.
I checked and googled everywhere and I think that it could be a driver issue...something related with libcam*.so files but I have absolutely no idea how to fix them; do I need to recompile the drivers? I checked init.rc file but I found no evidence of libcam*.so modules nor any insmod instruction to load them. I'm not really familiar with linux; I'm moving my first steps with it and the only complicate thing I did was to recompile wifi drivers for my Debian Virtual box.
Here a partial list of phone's details collected by Mobileuncle Tools:
CPU
CPU ARMv7 rev 0 (v7l)
Hardware MT6577
Kernel
Linux Version 3.4.0
OS
OS brand ORDRO
Model P550T
Bootloader unknown
Prouct e1901_v77_gq2002
Display e1901_v77_gq2002_2013.03.25
Release 4.1.1
fingerprint alps/e1901_v77_gq2002
MTK Build
.platform = MT6577
.chip_ver = S01
.wlan.chip = MT6628
The main difference between this ROM and the previous one (for completeness I forgot to download) is the ROM size; now is 878MB (?) instead of the previous one that was 493 MB.
Thanks a lot for any support or direction you can give me; I'm looking for a set of instruction to solve this problem and learn something new.
