Hi, I'm planning on increasing my EXT2 partition space to around 4-5GB as I only have 100mb left of 2.5GB.
Do I have to copy and paste my EXT2 files to my main partition of the SD Card and change the partition size and paste it back into EXT2?
Is it also possible if I do this without having to lose all of my data?
Yeah try doing that. Backup your entire SD card first. Re-partitioning on the same drive can always cause loss of data. Especially if you don't have too much free space on SD.

I have http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790825 installed with cronos froyo. I use this firmware only for a week and my 160 MB internal memory is already half-used. How can it be so with A2SD? And how can i know for what it is used? Also how can i check, if A2SD really works?
I had no issues with APPS2SD under the Cronos. As I know it is automatically enabled. Do you have repartitioned memory card? I mean do you have ext2 partition created on you memory card? Fat32 in not enough (as I know). If you use Amon_Ra recovery use it to create partitions like this: 0MB for SWAP, 512-1024MB for EXT and rest of memory card for FAT32 to store you mp3 files, movies, whatever...
You can always try to run Titanium Backup and on first screen you can see how much internal memory you have, how much space in EXT (if exists) and how mych space in FAT partition you have...

Yeah, I have Ext2 partition on sd card.
Titanium Backup says:
Internal 87 free 173 total
SD 912 free 1.55 total
SD (a2sd) 283 free 359 total
What's wrong? What is half of internal memory used for?
hmm.... if you have Titanium Backup then you can force him to move your apps from internal memory to SD... but be careful I think it is not good to move "widget apps" to SD card. obviously DO A NANDROID first

I moved almost all apps to sd via titanium backup.
That's how it changed:
87/173 ----> 87/173 internal
912/1.55 ----> 810/1.55 sd
283/359 ----> 338/359 a2sd
Looks like it just moved all my apps from EXT2 to FAT32 partition. But there is still half of internal memory used.
check the dir called ".android_secure" on your SD card... probably your apps have been moved here. I guess this happen when "google's froyo apps2sd" system has been used. Did you try to move those apps through the menu item which also allows to move apps in Recovery? btw. check your PM
Hi, is it possible to increase the size of the partition where the apps are located? in other devices like my iPad I can use the total amount of disk space for apps but in my Galaxy SII if I want to have lot of apps I have a small 2gb partition. Do you know a solution? I need more space for apps...
Thanks!
Are you talking about the internal or external (SD card) disk?
I think the internal disk space is fixed to a custom partition, but if you're using App2SD or any similar script with a partition inside the SD card, you can repartition that partition to fix your needs without problem with any partition editor (like GParted).
I'm talking about the internal memory of the SII ... In other gadgets like Apple we have the entire disk space to install applications if we like.
Do you know a method to increase the space of the app partition? I think that is not a great solution to depend of an SD card, we have a lot of memory on the phone. I don't know why samsung have limited to 2GB the data partition, I think is too small...
Any idea about resize the partitions of internal memory?

Don't know if its possible atm...
What do you have installed that you need +2Gb for apps? Have you considered moving some apps to SD?
/data partition has 2Gb
/sdcard has 8Gb
Both partitions are from the internal memory so moving any app from /data to /sdcard won't affect your speed, since both are internal memory...
PS: Despite the name, /sdcard is internal and /sdcard/external_sd is the external SD Card mounted on the phone.
Hi! AzureusPT thanks for your help... The problem is when I try to move to Sd card a message appears saying that I have to insert an SD Card... so I think that is not possible to move applications to /sdcard internal memory.
Do you know another method?

sd card means micro sd card.. the /sdcard is the internal sd card w/c you can store data internally.. external sd card is your memory card.. the way android works is (or sgs2) has 3 partitions, 500+ for rom, 2gb for applications and tge rest for storage.. for games like gameloft which has huge amount of data, the installer itself is in thr 2gb partition while its data is stored in the 11gb + partition.. so no need to worry about running out of space

So, I have a samsung galaxy young s6312, stock android 4.1.2 jellybean, rooted. Since the internal memory is very low, I use link2sd to link app files to my external sd card. Now I have created an ext2 partition of 1.5 gb to use with link2sd. but now the partition is full, and my internal memory is also full, because I have installed about 3gb of apps in my phone, half are in the second partition, and half are on my internal memory. so now I want to know if there is a way I can increase the size of my second partition. if I had enough memory, I would have moved the apps to my internal memory temporarily, but I don't have enough internal memory to move the linked apps to my internal memory. so is there any way to increase size of second partition without formatting it?? NOTE: I don't have any problem in formatting the first partition if necessary, but I can't format the second partition. NOTE: the sd card I use is of 8 gb...
Thanks...........
I have the same issue...
... so I'm disappointed to see that no one has replied.
I have a rooted LD-D520 with Android 4.1.2. Since I quickly ran out of memory I added an 8GB SD card and partitioned it with a 1.5GB ext2. I used Link2SD to them move over most all my apps. I don't have that many, but some of them have gotten so big (FB, Skype, etc.) that I now have only 5% free space on the ext2. I don't have much space left on the internal memory either, so I thought I'd try to make the ext2 partition bigger. (There's lot of free space on the SD card since I'm not using much of the other partition.) I tried using the MiniTool Partition Wizard, but even after reducing the size of the non-ext2 partition to create some unallocated space I was still unable to resize the ext2 partition.
Any suggestions? Is there an easy way to do this?
I partitioned my 32 gig sd card into 2 (fat32 and ext4). This was done for link2sd as I have my phone rooted n I use the 2nd partition for linking applications. But my second ext4 partition is of 12G n the rest is in the fat32 first partition. I also use foldermount to link large game data and obb to the sd card's 1st partition. Now I'm running out of space on the first partition. And the ext4 partition is all free (around 9G). Now I want to resize the first partition to increase its size n decrease the ext4 partition size. Windows doesn't recognize the second partition as usual.
So, how can I re-partition my SD card WITHOUT loosing data on either of the partitions? I'm not worried about the first partition as I can back it up but I cant back up the linked files present on the 2nd partition.
Any help is appreciated.
Hi guys!
I have really particular question, which I have not found any answer to. I have my microSD card partitioned and I did backup of the system with CWM, but I have marked sd-ext option too. Now I have few questions:
1) So when I will format my microSD card and don't create new partition, then recover my earlier done backup of my system and sd-ext through CWM , will second partition (ext4) will also be recreated? or I should re-partition my microSD and then recover my sd-ext files through CMW?
2) When re-partition is needed, can I choose create ext2 and recover my sd-ext data which was on ext4? is it possible?
3) When I know that my backed up files on second partition was for example 4GB, and I still had 6GB free space (both give 10GB in total), can I shrink my newly created second partition to 8GB in total, and leaving 4 GB free space instead of 6GB before. Will it affect recovered through CWM files?
4) And lastly I would like to know when I copy microSD files to computer, files are only those from first FAT32 partition? When I wipe my microSD and copy these files back to microSD, I assume all my ext4 (second partition) files are lost? and then, all linked apps through link2sd will be broken (deleted?)? There is only one option to backup them and is it through CWM recovery with "sd-ext" option? or is there anything else?
