my wifi on my note 2 keeps switching from 4g lte to wifi every minute or two. Even if its on idle nor in use, it switches

The phone grabs the best available signal, but if the signals are equal strength it goes to wifi.
You can turn off wifi or cellular, depending on which one you want.
When inturn of data and start usung the phone wifi just turns off and on

Perhaps the users in the note 2 forums will have the answers you need, as they share the same device.
Our note1 devices do not have this problem.
I suggest you check the note2 areas for your answer....g

As the title says, periodically wifi connections will cause my note to loose connection to the network. I will get the "no signal" crossed circle where the cell signal strength bar would be located....after that happens i have to restart my phone to reestablish the network connection. Wifi is not affected. No amount of toggling radio switches or going into airplane will affect the network loss...only a restart.
I am on the stock att Rom at the moment.
Anyone else experience this?

Every time I've encountered quirks with WiFi and cell signal on my android phones airplane mode for 15 seconds or so has fixed it. Odd.
Hopefully someone else chimes in for you. Bump.

could be a placebo, but i have noticed it seems to work as well.
Same here, but I do airplane mode on / off quick fast no wait.

Had this problem with a non stock modem.
Haven't had it with stock. Telus device here.

Anybody have a fix for this issue?
Seems everyday, I will have to turn on airplane mode to jump start my mobile network. I'll see a signal (3-4 bars) and 4G/4G LTE...expect the signal bars will be gray. I always have to activate airplane mode and then turn it off, to reconnect to the mobile network.
I've reflashed my custom GB ROM (Flapp's) and no luck. I still end up having to do this at least once a day. I don't know....
RIL / Modem conflict perhaps?
Is it just me or is anybody else having a problem with weak wifi signal on their phones? I know its not my router or connection because on my g note i always had at least 3 bars and speed test always gave me a constant speed of 10-11mbps. But now on my tmobile s3 i barely have a wifi signal shows 1 bar , and my wifi calling even says you are almost out of coverage area. And speed test is only giving me 2-4 mbps??
Anybody else also expirencing this? Any fixes, do you think there is something wrong with my phone, should i pay the restocking fee and return it?
Mine is actually better than gnote i had on att. My wife's gs3, she said wifi speed is faster on gs3 than her previous s2 skyrocket. We are VERY pleased by these awesome phones.

Same here. Although the speed is amazingly fast, the signal reception is worse than that of my iPhone and iPad. Is there a fix to this? Other than that, this device is exceptional.

I get good speeds on anything like loading videos and Web pages but when I check the forum it takes is lovely time to open

Looks good on mine so far. Speedtests gave me 30M on my 50M connection
Well I just rooted my s3 and reset and re connected my wifi. Seems to be doing much better I now get at least 2bars sometimes three and speed test is showing 6-7mbps which is better.
But dang 20mbps you guys have some fast wifi. I'm jealous

Mine seems fine compared to my other devices (ipad 3, SGSII, iphone4) but I am also rooted not sure if that affects it somehow or not. But no complaints here on signal strength or speed

The wifi signal isn't so bad that I'd call it weak(my Transformer Prime is WEAK), but it's not so great. Depending on what phone you were using before the gs3, it may seem weak though. I use different devices alot, and the gs3 is not the best or worst when it comes to wifi. The gs2 has great wifi, the Galaxy note soes too. The prime is terrible, and the gs3 is probably slightly better than the sensation in my opinion. I'm upstairs with the router downstairs, and I get 10mbps, but right in front of the router I get 30+. I've also noticed that it can depend on how I'm holding the phone. It never knocks the signal out, but it does weaken it when I'm using it in landscape. Maybe you could move your router to more central location?

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. Awesome, I know. I was curious if any of you experience a weird wifi issue. I have full signal and the bars are indicating things are good, but I cannot access my internet from my bed. I can move about 5 feet towards the door and it works just fine. My old EVO 4G wimax has never had a problem, and could work outside even. Do you all think I just have a bad phone and I should return for another one, or is this maybe just a glitch that others are experiencing and i should just wait for a fix.
I have the same issues with, and without, the best wifi performance enabled.
I'm open to suggestions, as I really love the phone.
I have had this happen too. I don't believe the number of bars showing is correct. And that in fact the signal was weak.

You can try to disablr then reconnect again. Sometimes this helps. I also have mine set to 2.4ghz only and I installed wifi manager. I haven't had any wifi issues since. I hope this helps.

Try to set it to 2.4 only. My router doesnt like it any other way.

Does your router firmware show you the signal strength of each connection? I would leave your phone in the room that is causing problems and then check the signal strength. Also try this just to be in the clear:
Forget network on phone, delete and release lease on router (if you have it set up this way), reboot phone, reboot router. Now try to reconnect again.
The above is always worth a shot. Reply with results and we'll take it from there

Thank you all for the advice. I changed this to 2.4 ghz only and it works perfectly now.
I have similar problems even after the update that I though fixed the wifi issues. Now instead of it reconnecting like you said it shows connected and I have to cycle it on and off to get it to work. Very frustrating. Guess will have to wait for an ota again.

I hope this phone is immune to the frequent Verizon LTE disconnects. On my HTC Thunderbolt it's so bad that LTE is useless and I have to force slower EVDOrevA to get stable data.
Every once in a while LTE acts up on my gnex.
Thunderbolts are known for problems may maintaining a signal was one of them?

Have no LTE problems on my Driod Razr Maxx or on my Galaxy S 3.

Had soo many problems on my thunderbolt and gnex but my gs3 has been absolutely solid. Wouldn't expect anything different from the note2

I'm suspecting it's a Diameter authentication issue since both LTE and eHRPD suffer from disconnects whereas EVDOrevA uses a different authentication method and is stable.
The reasons why the phones act up is because they have weaker radio antennas. The GNEX was know for having a weak LTE radio. Motorola phones are praised for having superior radios in them.

I see complaints about LTE disconnects from Motorola Rzr owners too on Verizon forum. Also, if it was a signal issue 3G EVDOrevA would be affected too but it isn't because it uses a different authentication method than 3G eHRPD's Diameter.
Anyone who's worked with Cisco ACS will understand.
So, I finally upgraded to Galaxy Note II and LTE is still randomly dropping especially tonight at a rate of about six to a dozen times a minute. So, it's Verizon's network afterall as I suspected.
lte solid here....have not had a data drop since owning the device.
I believe data drops are network related. Where I am, I get roughly 2-3 drops per day and one of them is roughly the same time every day. LTE will vanish for 30 seconds to a few minutes and then re-appear. This drop rate is so minor that I don't even really care.
I've had far improved signal from gnex. One signal hiccup in a week that lasted for a few minutes of disconnect/reconnect. Didn't have another device handy to compare at the time. I can actually get 3g at home in fringe area, never could get anything on previous devices.
Didn't have many issues with my thunderbolt back in the day, my gnex was pretty good and my note is awesome. I'm also in a strong lte market so that may be why. I'm in Houston
Florida panhandle ...have gotten a few lte drops but picks up 3g instantly ... My bolt dropped data all the time.
I haven't had a data drop since I got it even tho it hasn't been a week yet.

Same here. Unlike the old Droid Charge, I have had solid data since then with the Bionic/Razr(Maxx)/GNote2

Or your area sucks for LTE.
I've noticed in the past week my Rezound has been dropping data like crazy. Never used to do that like my Tbolt did.

With the thunderbolt I knew it was the phone, with the gn2 I know it's the network.

On my Note 2 the last few weeks the internet has been lacking in a constant feed. It doesn't lose sync but I will be doing something and then it just stops. You can tell that there was a lapse in the data feed. Usually takes 15-30 seconds to right itself. Anyone else having this problem, it's starting to happen more and more.

Is this on cellular or wifi ?
Ive seen this when using multiple wifi access points at home and signal weakens on one wifi network as it hops to another.
Also noticed similar behavior when I used a 5GHz network as my primary that also has the same AP name on 2.4GHz.
I never use wifi on my phone because I have unlimited data. Only time wifi comes on is when I tether. I think maybe my phone just might be bad.
EDITED: Are you sure your signal level is good? I've noticed in my ouse some rooms have poor 4G coverage and it takes a bit to kick down to 3G service..
