Hello there.
I just updated my Galaxy SII GT-I9100 to the latest official 4.1.2 JB, and wiped my phone beforehand so I could have everything from scratch.
All my contacts are in Gmail with hi-res pictures set there, so I did not worry about having lo-res pictures after Google supposedly fixed the picture quality issue.
Thing is, after I set my Google account on the fresh installation, it indeed synced each contact's picture, but in lo-res!
I noticed sometimes, when I opened up the contact and waited a few moments, the picture was automatically changed for the hi-res version, as if the cellphone only downloaded it "on demand".
Does anyone know how to truly make it download every contact's HD picture properly without having to open each contact's picture? :fingers-crossed:
Thanks a lot! :good:
Anyone with a clue?
Hi guys. Anyone knows this one?
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, it more of a work around.. but I upload all my "Contact Photo" to a private album on Google+ (Using Picasa to upload/replace/etc from the album as needed) - Any photo you upload to Google+ is going to appear in your Gallery on your device (just note there is no way to "Hide" them from the Gallery, so they will always appear)
As you can see (and no comments on picture; its my momma) That the pictures look a whole lot better by using Google+
(the blur is from me using Instagram and altering the picture)

Nah, that's not quite it mate. I did the same thing on Picasa, by the way.
But my contacts all have pictures stored on my Gmail account, so when I add my Gmail account to the phone the pictures automatically get downloaded. Problem is they are all pixelated.
When I open a contact and wait a few seconds (if connected to the internet), the lo-res pics gets replaced by a hi-res pic. But ONLY if I open each contact and then wait some seconds for the hi-res pic to download...

Hello,
I`m new, so be gentle. I have a little problem with my SGS2 Social Hub Email. It works just fine with the "push email"/premium thing, but i cannot acces my email folders like "Sent"/"Work". For example, i click on the "inbox" tab and go to "Sent" folder. On the bottom of the screen i get "Refreshing" message and after few seconds it dissapears leaveing a black screen (no messages). I have a Google and a Yahoo account. This thing happens with both.
So what is the problem?! Help!
Well if you haven't sent any message/email it would remain blank, I mean it won't get synchronized with server, I am having the same issue, don't know if this is normal or not.
Regards.
I don`t think it`s normal. If so, then what`s the point showing the folders, but not the emails. Let`s say I send a message from my computer and later I wish to resend it, this time from my phone. Where am I suppose to find the message ?!
Surprinzingly, after trying and trying, one of the folders got synced. Do not know how, do not know why it`s the only one that synced. It`s not like it has something different than the other folders.
There must be something we`re missing...
Well I found it, its not there in Sent folder but in Gmail/Sent folder, thats because I am using Gmail, you could have different with other email client. Now one thing I noticed, the above is applicable when you select Non Premium/POP/IMAP account, but if you select it then there will be three things missing,
1- No Sent folder. I mean the above.
2- No option of 'Load more messages'. Thats damn boring, how to get rid of that?
3- There is No Outgoing server settings.
But the good point is the Sent Emails will be shown in default Sent folder.
But as there are more negatives than positives, I am good with Standard mode rather than Premium.

Hi everyone, I've been testing quite a few sync applications and this one in particular is called my attention enough that I purchased it: http://www.jrtstudio.com/CheetahSync
It compares by file size and modified date, and can also compare by calculated hash.

I wanted to see if anyone here has used it, experience with it, and what do you think so far?
1051 files (anime pics, manga cbr files, music,) 1.10gb and doing ok so far here.
Moved to Android Q&A
Update: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrtstudio.SyncFolders&feature=search_result
Been using this for some time now and it is IMO the best sync application out there!
The developer issued an update that fixed the problem with sync job order arrangement.
So go get it... try it out.
It's worth paying for.
I have mine configured like this before i leave the house to receive from PC to ANDROID:
Job 1 - receive "My Pictures" changes from desktop computer
Job 2 - send "My Pictures" changes to desktop computer.
job 3 - receive changes of DCIM from computer.
job 4 - send changes of "DCIM" to computer.
when I come back to the house, I can switch them around to work like this and send any changes from ANDROID to PC:
Job 1 - send "My Pictures" changes to desktop computer.
Job 2 - receive "My Pictures" changes from desktop computer
job 3 - send changes of "DCIM" to computer.
job 4 - receive changes of DCIM from computer.
Beautiful. ^_^
Hi. Is there a way to sync over usb/adb instead of wifi because my phone is at work in another subnet that my laptop is connected to.
Thank you!
Hey guys, I wanted to post a question for everyone an see others thoughts on what I think may be a potential bug I've come across in hangouts.
Ive been having issues with the "mediaserver" eating away at the battery and ive been trying to figure out what is causing it since we had not had this issue before.
From what I've found, one issue with the mediaserver is if it comes across a broken file (image or picture) it hangs and this is what causes our problems.
Well I noticed that the battery has gotten worse over the course of the last few weeks and couldn't figure it out.
Come to see, hangouts cached images that transfer back an forth in the chats. Well I, along with a bunch of other people have those broken images in those folders.
So...there isnt any way as of yet to disable these images from being cached yet. Does anyone have any thoughts on how the images are called to be saved? Im not sure where to start. Given a direction I can edit code an fix it.
Anyone who has noticed a decrease in battery ever since the update let me know if you too also have these broken images in your gallery folder.

ok well i have found a temporary work around for this situation as it was driving me nuts.
One of the new additions for hangouts is the ability to send pictures via hangouts. Well this also changed how things worked as the pictures are stored as they are sent in Picasa Web Albums.
This all creates a potential issue with Mediaserver as it scans your phone and sd card in a mannor similar to the disk indexing service on a Windows PC.
If things go wrong, and they always will in poor data environments...the image corrupts and Mediaserver hangs in a endless loop.
So to work around this to the following:
Go to settings/accounts
Google
uncheck "Sync Picasa Web Albums"
go to apps management/ all apps
Clear data on the Gallery
After your done reopen the Gallery application. This may take a few minutes as your phone rebuilds the thumbnails and list.
I did not record and data that fully supports this, so dont ask for it. What i did see is that when i did this earlier today the mediaserver finally stopped and lowered down the list as battery hogs.
I hope this helps anyone thats noticed battery issues after using hangouts.
Hi!
I'm using CM11 on my LG G2 and I have some problem with contact pictures. I've synced my phone contacts with my facebook contacts through Sync.me app and it did its job quite good, when i go to the people app and open the favorites tab all the pics are hq and looks really good. When I tap on persons pic and go to their profile it also looks good. But when I'm in list view almost every picture looks terrible, it's unsharp and kinda pixelated, the same goes with sms app.
Is there a way to fix it?
Anyone?

Thanks but I don't think it's sync.me app fault cause the same happens when I set contact picture from my phone storage.
This is what I mean
This is screenshot from stock contact app, the same is happening with sms app. Contact pic looks really bad and some of the pics are cut.

but at the same time in the favorite contacts tab in yahoo aviate the pic looks good
The reason I suggested that app is because I had found another forum thread with your same issue and that was the solution. Do with that information as you will.

Thanks for help, but it didn't work I't kinda annoying.
I think it might be apps fault (stock contacts and sms), cause in textra sms all the pics looks good.
I still couldn't fix this, can anyone help with this?
It's annoying, does anyone have the same problem? I tried different programs to sync contacts I even uploaded them manually and still nothing. Is it how it is on CM11 or there's something wrong with my phone?
Hi there. I really hope this can be solved as have looked everywhere today and no luck.
Also, really sorry the long description. But this is best I can describe it with as best info provided
Having an issue with WhatsApp strangely backing up/saving GIFs that I am looking at/scrolling through when replying to someone, and its backing up/saving the GIFs to my Google photos/ OnePlus Gallery.
All I am doing is looking at the gifs, not saving them, not clicking them. Just looking/scrolling through them. If I scroll/look through 6 gifs, it will save 6 in total. If I look at 20 gifs, will save 20 etc... I did a test to see what settings made this happen;
-Show media gallery is ticked on, and the Media Auto Download (using mobile datal, Wi-Fi and roaming) is on made the GIF backup happen.
-Then, having Show media gallery on, and Media Auto Download off still made it happen.
-Then having both off still backs them up.
I have found that if I view the GIFs in WhatsApp when replying, then go to Google photos>Device folders, it all of a sudden loads the GIFs I viewed in a folder called gif preview cache. I then go to OnePlus Gallery and then it automatically shows them there!. There is some correlation here but can't figure out This is the odd thing, if I was to view GIFs in WhatsApp again, then view in OP Gallery first, it doesn't show them. I have to go to Google photos> Device folders first for it to somehow display them there, then the gallery when I go to it after!
Does this make sense? Its been driving me nuts!
I also Emailed WhatsApp and they said: On Android, it's not possible to preview WhatsApp media files without downloading them to your phone. Auto-download only controls whether this is done automatically, or upon tapping on the file . Remember, I am not clicking on the media/GIF which saves it. I am merely looking/scrolling through them!!
