I have been encountering this problem since stock rom too. I m now using cm9 rom now. Battery falls rapidly from 40 to 0 evn on normal usage or during sleep. . I attached edited screen shot., please solve my problem.
It seems like a battery problem, not ROM.
what about battery.prop ?? i dont know about it. But some where i saw it helps for battery calibration. Is that true?

Some google employer wrote in another site that battery callibration doesn do anything, its useless.
it is most probably an app which is causing this. just look at the image u attached. see the "Awake" bar and "Screen on" bar at the end. your phone was awake even when the screen was off for quite a while....both the Awake and Screen on bars should be very similar...else it implies an app is running in the background when the screen is off !!
thank you all for your concerns.

yea., But if it so, there should be drain eventually but you can see, there is a sudden fall. That what i m horrified about :silly:

Hi all
I was wondering why battery usage graph says phone has been once and while "awake" though "screen on" says it has been off?
What does that awake graph tell you actually? That S2 has been doing something behind the scenes or what?
I have the EXACT same issue but have yet to find a solution (though, I am on the Nexus S 4G)! I think this is what is causing me unnecessary battery drain since I am assuming that the blue bars associated with Screen On and Awake should correspond almost exactly.
While I know this post has not been helpful to you, I just wanted to tell you that you aren't alone. Hopefully someone will help us out soon.

same here, waiting for solution
A app has awoken the device from deep sleep, that's why it appears.
A phone can be awake while the screen is off. Some widgets may run/update in background. So its common, I don't see a problem in that.
Regards.

Is there a way to check which app keeps the phone awake? I'm having this issue aswell, causing a battery drain sometimes.

I've had the same problem and was mad that what really kept running on background. But after I start using ATK it is almost gone. This is mine after 23 hours, before ATK it was a different story.

ATK didn't work out for me.. i used ATK Pro
I just found out that during idle(screen is off) the processes: 'suspend' and 'events/0' are waking the phone once in a while and using CPU
Does anybody know this type of problem?

Hello everyone,
From yesterday i started facing a strange issue due to which i am experiencing serious battery draining issues.
My battery started draining 1-2% every 5 min in idle mode after i played a game named crazy fist . next day i factory resetted my phone. In idle now it is not consuming any power but when i do some work on my phone , it consumes alot of battery and it.drins like 1% every 2-2.5 min.
Charging time is normal. But discharge is pretty fast.
So i checked thr battery usage inside settings.and noticed that my display is consuming about 41% of the battery and android os arnd 13%. I am not sure qbout os usage but thr diaplay is consuming too much power. I think initially it used to consume 13-20(max)%.
Or is the usage correct? I am using sgs2 stock midel and have no intentions to root it.
Kindly assist and reply asap. Thanks in.advance,
Siddhanth
the display on the galaxy s2 does drain alot of battery if your using it for quite a while..thats what they call screen on time..my battery was draining fast and i panicked... when you do use your phone how long do you use it? say do you use to browse like for a good hour non stop?
if you was rooted i could of gave you some options but here is a link to help you read and give you some tips on battery life...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234264
charge your phone fully and drain it without switching it off..charge it again without taking it off charger i say leave it for a good few hours...do the same thing for a few charging cycles and see what the battery like is after that..but check the link
But this strange thing happened to me aftrr 1month.
I wss never rooted.
I mean this is the first time my display is consuming 59-61% of the overall battery. is this normal and does it hsppen to u too?

i thought the same as you buddy. never realised it in the start when i had my s2 but then checking the battery usage and i panicked...its normal for the display to drain the battery alot..
change your brightness to auto and there is an option in settings and display where you can tick to have the display autoadjusted. thats for brightness..
or do what i do and have your brightness on the lowest settings and see how it goes from there...fully charge your battery let it say for 6 hours then let it drain till it dies down without any breaks and then charge it again to the max..do the same thing for a few times and check whats the battery after a few days...

when calibrated your phone you leave it on of course and charge it without any interuptions...when you let it drain with out any breaks like switching it on and off, once it dies down then plug to charge it.....it will charge and it will give you the battery icon...once its fully charged you can see by the battery when its fully green switch your phone and your good to go...

hey buddy sorry for the late reply..go to market and download the battery calibration app by Nema..once you installed it charge your phone fully go into the app and just follow the instructions and then you should be fully calibrated..
but download the app first
Thanks, i tried it todsy but it says root needed.
I have a stock rom. and i dont want to change the rom before my warranty period gets over.

If not brother provide me the link here.
I know we can use widgets or change the status bar one with UOT, but it seems ludicrous to imagine such a simple feature hasn't become standard. Is there some patent troll that is keeping devices from having the battery percentage in the system bar? I see no other legitimate reason.

That is a really good question actually. You have me wondering the same thing now. I know on my girlfriend's iPhone 4s she can set her battery display to show a percentage. I wonder if Apple has a patent on that for smart phones ...ridiculous if they do.

I have an answer which you might find interesting...
I was testing a custom rom, which had a lot of users complaining and incessantly whining about "battery drain"...
But I never felt any such drain...
We were actually surprised that, users had their battery percentages "drain" from 100 to 60 in 4 hours (they used batt %), after which they charged their phone...
I, on the other hand, didn't take notice of the battery step (present in the stock icon)...
I used to charge my phone after 10 hours with around 10% batt left...
I then asked another fellow user to use stock batt icon, rather than the % icon...
And miraculously, his battery drain was minimized...(by just changing a damned icon)...same confirmed with a few others...
So we could conclude that, the battery drain was happening due to the % icon, and used to vanish/minimize when using the stock icon...
Hence, it was attributed to a placebo effect...
You thought that battery was draining because the numbers between 1 - 100 are going down...while the stock icon ignores battery movement lesser than 10%...
It isn't anything other than your mind telling you that battery is going down...
I do not know the "official" reason why it never made it to stock android...
But if you are willing, just try it out...
Without changing your daily usage and apps, spend a few days with the stock icon, and then a few days with the % icon...
The result, still might be really subjective, but well, this is what I could find...

Yap... some months ago eard something quiet similar to this state...
a guy postet that he installed an battery widget from the play store
after a while he had big problems because his battery was gettin empty very fast
so one other guy told him to look under settings in the battery context menu wich were his biggest battery drainers
and who could have imagined this on top was the battery widget
after he unsinstalled the widget his problems were vanished
so guys
accept that u have a battery without percentage but a battery drain in a size where u cant watch the amount of battery power percentage falling from one second to the other
so please accept it
No, I never used a batt widget...
There was option to have either % icon, or the stock one, baked into the rom itself...
So there wasn't any battery drain related to rogue apps...

ROM: JellyBam 5.0.0
Kernel: Siyah v5 vsync
I have been getting really bad standby times lately (half a day if I don't charge in car/at work). I started looking more closely at battery stats and GSam Battery Monitor is reporting that my screen is using more battery/power when it is OFF (in standby) than when its ON and I'm actually using the phone. If this is correct then it would explain why I'm getting such bad standby times. Screenshots are attached.
Can someone help me confirm if this stat is correct (ie, that GSam's calculation shows low % screen off power usage on a GS2 with good standby)?
If it is correct then does anyone have any idea what might be going on and/or how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

You might wanna wait until a jellybam user drops by. I'm not familiar with that ROM. My suggestion is only based on what makes sense to me, then again, I'm no expert.
Screen off shouldn't be draining your battery at all, it should be OFF. Get cpu spy from the store and check the deep sleep %.
Maybe there's something working and disguises itself as a screen consumption.

reflashed and got 1 great day out of it - really low % screen usage for on and off screen. now its chewing power again, but it seems like its not the screen but instead kernel / android os. think im best doing a complete wipe, reset and reflash over the weekend.
from memory deep sleep % was around 65-70% in cpuspy across a working day of usage, is that acceptable? even though the battery is draining really fast again, deep sleep is staying around this figure today.

Check out the media scanner issue. It's a known bug in JB. Might wanna check the jelly bam thread to see if it's normal.
A full wipe would be wise tho.
The battery graph can't display on one screen afik. Perhaps someone knows how to shrink the graph so that one does not have to scroll 2-4 screens' worth to see what the battery has done?

Well, as said, don't want to scroll through many screens to see battery graph. Very hard to get a sense of what has been happening to battery with this requirement. EVERY android device I've ever seen has a single screen with the battery graph. Even the G4 used the android standard. Sheesh.
Was hoping someone would say, eg, oh, slide the foozits slider in settings/lg/randombs.
