I've recently created several 'New Star Trek' themes for the 'GO' apps that are on Google Play now, but it's not working on devices running Jelly Bean and a few ICS such as HTC Evo 4G LTE and apparently some Galaxy S3s are OK and some aren't.
I compiled and signed the themes with Eclipse using GO's templates. They work fine on ICS and earlier, but here's the strange part. If I decompile them and recompile them in 'apk_manager' and sign them with apk_manager's key, they do work on Jelly Bean. Also, I've had mixed results from common users installing my apps. It seems some were successful in applying my themes fro their SD card, but not when installed from Google Play. (those results may not be reliable, because it comes from people who may not have initially known how to apply the theme as beginners)
Is it a problem with my key, Google Play, my Eclipse? My SDK is up to date with all the latest stuff, so..........?????
Of course Google Play won't accept apk_manager's key, so I'm stuck and loosing money daily to refund uninstalls.I really can't move on to my other projects till I get this sorted out.
Please help me. If you need the .apks PM me with your Email and I'll send them right over.
I'm not really a developer with much knowledge, I'm a themer who just knows how to do very little .xml editing.

I can't help you with your problem but i have a suggestion....till you work on the development , mention on google play that it's not for JB and people should download on JB at their own risk...in this way you don't need to refund.

They just cancel within 15 min. and the refund is automatic. I state the should contact me and I send them the theme I signed with apk_manager which works fine for them. I use a lot of time giving support like that.

In an attempt at obfuscation I thought I'd start a thread in hopes of getting some collaboration for improving my favorite Android ROM-- CM6. Sure I could stick with AOSP for better universal support but who cares? CM6 offers what I consider the best experience and the available code far surpasses what we would need to reinvent on a stock base.
Lack of time and knowledge has me realizing it's best to try to bring the community together so we can work on adding features in a hopefully less 'throm' way. Seeing advancements devs can do like MIUI's lockscreen and interesting home screen improvements, features we enjoy from the CM6 nightlies, etc. is the motivation.
I'll post my work and ideas and I'm hoping people do the same.
List of ideas and projects I'd like to get going:
Notification bar scrollable settings
MIUI and the new Sense inspired idea but taken to a new level with custom activity support similar to Bettercut and ADW offer.

Universal Firefox-style Google search from long-pressing text
Long press text in a web page, email, text box and have a context menu to search the phrase on Google similar to Firefox. It's a Google OS, let's add it
Smooth screen rotation transitition
Intercept rotation and instead shift the screen rotation without redrawing to improve speed on low end devices and prevent onResume() potentially wiping current saved state in poorly coded apps
This is a think tank and I hope to spin it into a development thread. I'm open to ideas like a Home button in browser, etc. Let's make this easy, open source and available for integration in ROMs to make things better for everyone.

The one thing I've always wanted fixed in Android (since 1.0) is Artist sorting in the music player. Currently the scanner incorrectly uses the Artist tags for combination albums and splits them all up (should use Album Artist; check how iTunes/WMP sorts this stuff); its terribly annoying and has needed to be fixed for ages.

My 2 Cents
Sense like copy /paste In browser
Getting that search drop down on xda to not dissapear when I try to type in eing
Getting the gmail app to auto call phone numbers when you touch it, sense does this
When searching In google, the suggestions come up, I would like to be able to scroll to one of the suggestions, and this auto fills the search box for you, like it does in a desktop browser
Cm has thought of almost everything I must say though!
Here's an idea i'd like to see. I dunno if it should be implemented in Android in general or CM.
If you pull down the notification bar, swiping left or right to get another page with some of your widgets... OR switch between open applications using that.

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone would be creating such a Rom? and if anyone would be interested in loading it onto their SGS3.. Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, the pureness of ICS is so smooth and clean, no bloatware or carrier specific apps. But, TouchWiz is nice, colorful and generally easy to get used to.. i was very impressed. I was just wondering if anyone would be interested if that Rom was made available to our LTE Devices.
Cheers! :fingers-crossed::good:
Add me to the wishlist.
This TW isn't too bad, but CM9 would be awesome.
I haven't tried touchwiz yet but I will probably want a clean install.
verizon.
Touchwiz ain't the bad there are some good features already in it, like toggles and battery percentage, for now you can replace them with some aosp apps, that's your best bet
Btw I'm running cap turbo with ics domination theme and it looks sweet netter then nothing

The problem with AOSP-based ROMs is you lose the (very very few) features of TouchWiz that are legitimately useful... like SmartStay and whatever they call the feature that allows you to pop out videos into a floating window so you can watch while doing other things.
On the Incredible, we had de-Sensed Sense ROMs. They were based on the Sense framework, so Sense "stuff" would work, but they were de-bloated and de-themed as much as possible (at least that is my understanding... in actuality, I never used one of them because I liked Sense).
I imagine someone will eventually come out with a de-TouchWizzed TouchWiz ROM. That is something that I'd be interested in.
^ I think there's a large group who are insterested in the stock google experience, and don't have a need for Sammy's extras.
Edit: just to comment on the OP, I assume most devs will jump to jelly bean. Since (to my understanding) the code is fairly similair, being that 4.1 is an incremental update. I can't wait for some AOSP Jelly Bean!
Pop out video and S Voice have already been made into apps that don't require touchwiz, but I'm not sure about SmartStay.
It'll be great when I can get rid of TouchWiz

I wasn't aware of the video one being made into a separate app. What's it called?
As for S Voice, who cares? Nobody wants that crap.
Yea, I was just wondering.. IMO, i think that all our android phone should come with the option to have a pure AOSP option as well as the manufacturers UI overlay. It would just cut some of the hassle some people go through in theming.. just my two cents.. and I think they're worth every penny..

if any of you have been getting a random screen flicker while texting, this apk has solved the problem for me. i guess it was a problem with samsung's keyboard code.. it's the pure ICS original keyboard. download and give it a try. let me know your findings.

Cyanogen is generally the way to go unless you find a different AOSP ROM that doesn't suck, which is pretty rare lol

You are right bro it is a simple app. Sony can make this but doesn't do anything.
Video is ready...
Note the below from the linked xda article:
There is a catch, though. The loophole was already patched in Android 12L Beta 1, and Google decided to backport the patch to Android 12 with the January 2022 security update (via Mishaal Rahman). While rooted users can still harness the true power of Repainter, you can only access the color selection and custom color picker modules in an unrooted Android instance – advanced customization is no longer possible.

Android 12L brings Google's Monet theming engine to AOSP
With Android 12L, Google has released the source code for the "Monet" theme engine to Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
www.xda-developers.com
Google just announced that devices getting Android 12L should get this feature. Lets see if Sony gives it to us.
As for the reason we didn't get it, it was stated many times in many articles, including the above article.
This feature was a Pixel exclusive until Android 12L. Google didn't allow Sony or any other companies to use it. It wasn't Sony's decision.
