CDMA or gsm - HTC Rezound

OK so I bought a HTC Rezound off of a kid at school for $60. The battery on it is bad, but oh well I knew that before I bought it. So there was no 4G LTE sim cars in there. Do I have to have that to unlock the device and put on another carrier.

You can try activating it with Verizon and they will give you another sim. Hopefully its not red listed.

Htc rezound on boost mobile

Wondering if anyone has confirmed this phone on Boost mobile, would love to use it at a cheaper plan then Verizon.

Doubt it would work.
I'm pretty sure you can't flash a phone with a sim card to another provider. Atleast not with pageplus here.

The SIM is just for LTE though. Not too sure how that would limit the CDMA part from working. The OG Inc was able to go onto boost. There's a thread about it in the Inc general forum.
Not saying it would work, just wondering what would inhibit it from working.

You can flash it and it would work just fine on any CDMA network.
You need to take it to someone that knows how to reprogram it by writing the NVs.
Once you do that you won't need the LTE sim card.
Its real simple. Trust me.

I stand corrected. Apologies.

You'd lose LTE obviously but 3g would still work.

HTC Rezound for Iusacell Mexico

Hi Friends:
Recently, I bought a new HTC Rezound and I would like to have your inputs about how can I program/configure my HTC Rezound for Iusacell carrier in Mexico.
I have a HTC Evo 4G with a Iusacell’s line and it’s working perfect.
Can you share with my your experiences and recommendations about it?
• Voice Settings & Configuration
• Data Settings & Configuration
• MMS Settings & Configuration
What tools do you use? (CDMA Workshop, DFS Professional CDMA, QPST, etc.)
Thanks in Advanced for your help

At XDA we are unable to help you with this unfortunately because it is against the rules here.
You would have no luck with cdma anyway. I have used mine with telcel just fine though.

I'd like to think you can switch SIMs but you may have to use the Venusaur ROM because I know there's a GSM fix in it.

Yea I heard Venasuar is the way to go but I just hope GSM bands wont be an issue getting decent data and voice coverage

The miui Rom would be an alternative to use too.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Eh MIUI never tickled my fancy lol
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Mine either but for gsm It's easier. Just load the rom and you're good. It comes up as gsm so you don't have to set it to gsm.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Thanks man. I been thinking about buying a cheap unlocked phone just in case the gsm bands on the rezound aren't supported by whatever carrier I end up using while I'm there. Verizon is too damn expensive on roaming
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
The Rez has all the gsm bands I think except AT&T 3G.
Ah well thats good to know

[Q] Switching between LTE phones

If I wanted to switch from one verizon 4G phone to another, do I have to call and switch the ESN/IMEI or will just swapping sim cards be enough?

Just swap SIMs.
Ive been wondering this. Lets say my phone gets stolen, can I still call verizon and have them lock the phone as stolen or can someone just stick their sim card in and works?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
you can get the phone blacklisted.

Sweet. That's what I was worried about.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
it would get black listed but they would have no trouble sticking any GSM network sim in it.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I don't think verizon has fully transitioned over to black list imei numbers to fully block them from being used on the network.

Question about reactivation?

Im going to be switching back to this DROIDX for a week or 2 to make sure everythings smooth and fully operational before I put it up for sale. I have no problem using verizonwireless.com to activate 3g phones, its the 4g ones with sim cards im lost about. Can someone help me out a little here?
Sent from my DROIDX
You shouldn't have any trouble. Just make sure you have verizon send you a new lte sim.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
These are only one use sims? That seems stupid and cost ineffective
Sent from my ADR6400L
Yep. Gsm phones on verizon do to but they don't need the sim for activation like lte phones do. You could call customer service and have them mail one to you so when you're ready to switch back you won't have to wait for it to come in the mail. Then all you have to do is call, tell them you want to switch phones and they'll ask for your meid on the t bolt and the number on the sim card.

Ugh. This is why I'm going to at&t. I hate this.

Temp phone for JTAG

I'm going to send my phone put for JTAG soon, and I need a replacement phone. All I have is a T-Mobile sensation 4g, as the DNA is my first Verizon phone. The LTE SIM won't fit into the sensation. Any one have any suggestions?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
You could buy a SIM adapter. However I am pretty sure the T-Mobile phone will not work on Verizon. The Verizon SIM is used to connect to the 4G network only. As far as I know, T-Mobile has not implemented LTE and T-Mobile phones cannot connect to LTE networks. Even if it did, it would not be setup to use Verizon's LTE frequency.

DUH! An adapter! Don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks, that's probably what ill do. I figured LTE wouldn't work, and I didn't even plan on data working period. But I need to make calls and texts, so in hoping that works. The sensation is unlocked and rooted so in hoping it works
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Even with an adapter, the T-mobile phone with a verizon sim won't work on Verizon. Verizon's network authenticates phones, and only phones that are in its database will work.
After a quick lookup, the Sensation will not work on Verizon. You can give it a try and see however it does not support the CDMA frequencies. This is a GSM phone only. I've attached a network spec and you can see it at the bottom of the picture. Also, Verizon does do authentication

My DNA is out for JTAG now. I picked up a relatively inexpensive RAZR HD on Craigslist for the duration. When I get the DNA back I'll just offload the HD back onto CL or on eBay for as much as I paid or more. Find a reasonably good deal and you won't lose, no big deal.
