Anyone know how to make a extensive Aroma Installer? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I am putting together many mods that should be flashable for our I777's so users can make many changes to personalize their phone the way they want it. If you haven't seen/checked out Morphology 1.4 Theme It Your way then take a look here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093095
I have sent a PM to those that created it with the HOPES they could make it our I777/I9100's. But if they cannot support more devices I would like to get something started for us as well. I am making flashing VR themes desperately now. But a nice Aroma Installer for them would be awesome. I have not done much with configuring Aroma Installers.
It should not take much to reconfigure their scripts for our device, with changing from installing into system/app into our preloaded/symlink/system/app folder instead. If anyone is up for an adventure shoot me a PM or reply here. I have used it on my I747 and it is a convenient way to make personalized changed without decompiling/recompiling it each time. Let me know.
In the meantime I will be making some single change VR morphs so users can pick and choose what they want to try out. Thanks

Download binnacle beta7 and look at the scripting. It needs to be updated for the newer version of aroma but you should get the concept easily.

Thanks. I will have a look at it. For now I have been putting up Single Change VR Theme Morphs here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2129306 Once I get anything finished which may take a while then I will concentrate on a Aroma Installer. Thanks for the info PirateGhost.

Is it possible to have all inclusive themes?

So I've been looking through the i9100 forums for themes and many are "universal" for all Roms..I was wondering if that's possible on our version of the gs2?

Got links? Probably using vrtheme or similar - these MIGHT work on our device as is.
Yes its vr (unsure the exact importance) ill try to find a link and post as edit

That's one of a few I've seen ...thanks for the reply...you always are really helpful!

The themer in that case doesn't seem to know what he's doing - vrtheme can do some theming universally, but the jkay customizations are NOT portable.
Ill talk with them and see if they mind me bringing it over to i777
Hm if we could have these vrthemes that would be awesome!
It would probably be less work for themes in the long run too, imo.
Yea that was just one example I didn't read too far into it, thanks jivy, I'd help out but I'm not that knowledgeable yet...trying to learn...lol

It is interesting, vrtheme has existed for a while but this is the first time I've seen themes based on it.
Haven't tested yet, but this one should be truly universal and may work on UCKH7/UCKK6 based firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429588
This one may work too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154252
The one linked above isn't universal any more due to including JKay - it will only work on firmwares supported by that version of JKay.

I'll try flashing Noed DarkBlueGray VRTheme once I take a nandroid backup and report back in a bit.
Looks like its "most" compatible with jkay 13.4.1, whereas icscrewed is still on 13.3.9, but I'll see how it goes.
EDIT: see below post. good stuff.
Did Nandroid backup.
Wiped cache & dalvik for good measure.
Mounted /data & /system.
Flashed zip twice.
No errors at all, worked beautifully.
Personally I didn't really like the look of the theme, so I restored back
Attached screenshots for reference.
This could be verrrry nice, it would instantly increase the amount of themes we have
Awesome! I wasn't too impressed with the theme itsself but I loved the idea of universal (or partially anyway) themes...I appreciate testing it out...are you on icsscrewed?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Yes I am, haven't been on unnamed since the 1.x days. Though I'm sure if gtg added jkay, it could also work there
Anybody tried metamorph? From the second link entropy posted? Its a free app in market that is supposed to allow you to theme your own images..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I've tried it, but while on unnamed. I'll check it out again if i find a good theme worth the effort
ok, so is there a thread or explanation on how to use it? I'm running a hellraised ROM so I was considering installing one of the themes and using metamorph.
So i've looked around and found how to use it, but after i download a theme it doesn't give me the chance to install it, it comes out as a bunch of .apks....
Where did you get the theme you used for unnamed? and do you know what version? I tried criskelo (i9100 hellraised), unnamed and shostock and it ends up with the same symptoms.
Edit: Nevermind, it finally worked after completely wiping cache/dalvik running the kernel cleaning script ( i had recently tried miui...) and updating to entropy's newest kernel..was running the original kernel in hellraiser so it was an older one...maybe that caused the problem? Anyways thanks for the help

Thanks for the interest in my theme but with respect your wrong.
I haven't included jkay mod, just the images that jkay mod uses, this way I could keep the theme as universal as possible. The images will be pushed into your framework/systemui but if there not called they won't be used and shouldn't cause any problems.
Hope this helps,
Regards.

You state in your listed features:
"CRT on/off screen(enable via Jkay deluxe settings)" indicating that you are including JKay's theme elements. If you weren't including JKay's theme elements, this would say "Flash over JKay theme".
And in the ChangeLog
"updated Jkay to 13.4.1"
Now, if you updated JKay to 13.4.1 - that means you've included JKay, and thus are not a universal theme.
Where does it say that?
Were you reading the wrong thread lol.

Also big thanks to Ed and Loki for answering all my questions and helping me
Thank you guys
So far so good on Imperium Initiative v1.0.3. I wonder if I'm going to miss the red at all.
Looks nice. Everybody knows we really could use more themes. Low level theming via the kitchen is really easy but we still don't have a lot of themes for the mopho. Full themes are a bit harder as they require individual apk edits and take time.
If you are up to it I have something planned but it will have to wait (family emergency). I'll PM you with details.
Ugh..was talking to qbking about theming ics to look like black infinitum (Google it)...we agreed that ics theming is a *****. Lots of 9pngs. I agree about the limited amount of themes...I'm just not that good..
Let me know if you need help....I can try...gb seems so much easier

Super dope job on the CM7 theme. I just flashed it and the bootloader is really nice. I LOVE the text and the size, that was a great modification and makes the menu's look awesome. Loaded up the them and so far so good, looks very nice. Now all I need is to find a nice wallpaper with some blue in it. FYI, I am using CM7.2. Thanks again and good job!!

(Sense MIUI my ultimate rom)

Ok this new miui on the ics sense base is really smooth and rocks. Yet I miss the sense launcher. I know thete ate many who have removed it from their roms. I would like to know what files had to be removed so I can try and install them on miui. From all I have been able to find out is that miui has kept all the framework intact so I would presume that all I need is tjr correct apks. Then I would have the best of both worlds.
(Sense MIUI my ultimate rom)
Ok with a little help from the dsixda kitchen and a few workarounds I now have progressed to MIUIics-Sense 3.6 merged rom.
shortly I will have a download link for people to play with. Feel free to report any issues you have here, but since it is just a project for my own enjoyment (at least for now) there will be no support what so ever from me.
The basics:
ics base
MIUIics from digitalhigh 7-27 test
stock miui ics kernal (for now)
What works:
all sense widgets
wifi
3g
gallery (had to reboot to work)
call
What does not work yet:
4g (which I dont have so I dont care) or it might
superuser FC's
all of the newest miui issues I have here also
Download
to come
md5sum
1d04bee72941d3c536c54070ddb9863b
Evo 3d on cricket
Not gonna happen
I am a noob, but from what I see, your only choice is dual booting
wow look at the negativity here. I do see this happening and it might be a large task but it is possible. dual booting is just lame. I dont want to reboot just to access a few features of some rom.

I say try this:
Take the sense Rom that you want and extract it to a folder. Then take the sense-based miui zip and extract it to the same folder and overwrite the sense Rom with the miui Rom. Then zip the new combination and see if it flashes.

FYI as much as I love using dsixda's kitchen, you wouldn't need it to do what you describe. Simply moving the files from zip to zip would work just fine.
Have you tried a Sense Rom then downloading MIHome from the market? Ya it won't have everything MIUI but its a hell of a lot easier if you want full Sense and slightly less MIUI aspects. Just wondering
ok so a little research questions. 1. what sense would most be interested in? I am thinking about going back to 3.0 when I get most of the issuses sorted out. 2. Who would like lee droid tweeks? 3. What key features would you like? 4. Dont ask about sprint bloatware it is gone forever in all my releases when this hits the developer section. 5. Any suggestions on fav. kernals? 6. We need a sweet rom name so lets see what yall have in mind.
Finally would like to thank all here at xda for their knowledge, help, and a place to grow.

well mihome is not what i am after here. I personally hate the miui launcher which is part of what lead to this project. I love sense which is why i got an htc phone in the first place. I want miui for the extras it has, and sense for the launcher and widgets. as i have said ealier i have a simi-functional rom so far and will be doing more testing and changing over the next few day. some of my issues have to do with the sources I have used to start this with. I have a sprint ics rom from an ota that has problems by itself than the new miui 8-3 that is the first sense base released for the 3d. So yeah i have all the problems from base plus issues from the merger of the two. As the issues from the bases get sorted out so will my issues.
any suggestions on a file host site?

Your allowed to use it. Just can't post the download link to the Rom its included in here. Then it breaks the rules of XDA.
For instance..
I have 2 versions of my DX Rom but there's only one posted on XDA because I respect both forums and try to follow the rules of both of them. He could do the same if he chooses.
ok so i got it uploaded link is in op and at the end of this post. many issues so far but this is the first try. I am waiting on permission to use another base from the vm leak which will fix a few of the issues i have so far. i have only merged the two roms and have not started any work on tweeks. hope this is just as much fun for yall to use as it is for me to build.

ok test rom is working fairly good so far. tested most features and they are working I have added screenshots, now I am only waiting on permission from my donor roms before I can post a link. If you would like to test also pm me and i will give you the link.
edit:
incoming calls are hit and miss
If you're waiting on permission from me - feel free to post.
As was suggested earlier - you might have more luck ditching Kitchen and just using BeyondCompare to diff the two extracted ROMS. I cannot edit a ROM without it...it's that awesome.
I'd do like was pointed out - extract my MIUI and the Stock ICS, diff them, and then grab basically everything you want in /system/apps on the Stock side that says "HTC..." in it. Most of the widgets start with HTCfriendstream.apk and whatnot. As you've already established, the majority of the frameworks are identical, with only framework-res, framework.jar, services.jar, and android.policy.jar being edited.
So, it should stand to reason that if you're using the Rosie launcher, you can probably utilize all the stock HTC apps but keep the MIUI navbar, notification, dialer, etc.
Either way...definitely get BeyondCompare and diff the two ROMS. Otherwise you're just kludging around in the dark...
Edit:
And the permission f/c can be fixed by grabbing LBESEC.apk (something like that) from MIUIAndroids' GSM port.

AOSP Theme import for sammy based roms request

Hi there everybody....
So today I replaced my s3 with the note 2 N7100. So far it was so worth it....
One thing though that I am terribly missing is the AOSP domination theme for sammy based roms.
I did some theme searching in Xda, but I couldn't find a good AOSP Theme.
When I had My s3, I used "[VRT]DOMINATION*v1.8* theme and it was perfect.
This is the perfect solution for all of us who can't stand the default green samsung theme, and Love the google Styled (AOSP) theme.
I tried looking for a note 2 compatible version, but i received a reply from the theme creator, that there isn't one. So i was thinking the maybe some of the talented XDA developers, could try to import the theme for us note 2 users...
I'm posting here a link to the home thread in XDA so that all can see what i'm talking about.
I hope you like it as much as me....
And please, if possible, please import:

You should check out [email protected], Modstorm, and westcrips ROMS. They are all very good ROMS that are AOSP themed. Not as perfect cut as domination theme (that theme is flawless in my opinion), but they are getting there.
You can find them all in the development section. You can't really go wrong with any of them, although [email protected] and mod storm are updated a lot more often than westcrips ROM.

Thanx for replying...I could probably try to import it myself, but for sure, not as good as an experianced developer.
I think that in order for everyone to injoy this theme, bug free, it's best that someone else imports it...

I did actually check the AOSP ptoject (modstorm) but it's not even close to the domination theme.
Besides, all of the examples that you gave, if i'm not mistaken, are roms, or AOSP roms.
What i'm looking for is a good AOSP theme for sammy based roms. i'm sure that a lot of users like me do not want to give up there favorite sammy based rom.

All of my examples are Touchwiz ROMS that are AOSP themed.
But these are definitely the best options you have until someone ports the Domination theme (which is doubtful as it has happened yet). Either that, or use an AOSP ROM, which I personally don't want to do because of all the Touchwiz features you lose. IMO, these complete ROMS are much more AOSP than any of the themes you will find in the theme section.
But I feel your pain, as I would also LOVE to see domination get ported.

Oh my gawd... That theme is so good. I want it!!
Avetny had a good AOSP theme going, but he dropped out of the game.
Well, I'm another one of those loving AOSP theme but don't want to loose excellent Samsung TouchWiz features.
As others said, there is no excellent AOSP theme so far, just AOSP themed ROMs.
The best AOSP themed ROMs I found are AllianceROM and Crash ROM.
The former needs a tiny bit of colour customization to get there, but it is definitely worth it (no more than 5-10 minutes of settings).
Check them out...

Wow, thanks dude. I've been reading about this in Android Apps & Games and it looks pretty amazing. But don't the theme ports have to be device-specific to work properly? Where are all the Note II ports being published/uploaded?
Couldn't find anything in Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps... Am I stupid/blind?
well a week ago I have replaced sgs2 for note2...
Im not a fan of touchwiz based roms, before I was using aosp, cm and other amazing roms.
But since with note2 all the great features of s-pen are not supported on nonstock based roms, Im searching for some solution.
Now Im searching for original copy of my stock rom. so in case of I will need warranty, I will flash it. But cant find it for now.
Anyway, I found amazing aosp theme for stock based ROMs here on xda. The only bad thing that is development has stopped, and the latest version is for android 4.1.1... but I think that it would be not so complicated to port it for a newest version of rom.
here is this great theme.

After I will find original firmware for my device, I will flash it. And if it wont work I will try to ask for permission of author to try to port it. anyway you can try to do it by yourself before me

The xposed framework and all the apps are not device specific and will work on most devices

No, but the theme ports ARE, right? Coz HTCs and Samsung devices have different Settings icons. So themes gave to be ported to specific devices. So where is everyone uploading their N7100 ports to? Or an I failing to grasp something here?

I've looking for the N7100 Xtheme ports and not luck
Any one?
You can try this ROM:

Yes, Alliance is an excellent ROM. Best battery life I've ever achieved on the N7100. Hope V3 has even more AOSP theming! Can't wait.

Hey everyone...thank you for your contribution to this discussion...
I want to remind everyone, the this thread is about importing AOSP theme for any sammy based rom, and not about other roms that are AOSP themed...
I personally checked all the solutions that have been brought here, and I'm telling you that nothing is even close vert domination's theme.
Hope you guys get the chance some day to enjoy has theme...

You can try this (link removed, I posted without permission of [email protected], sorry for that).
Is a AOSP Lite (only have the necessary for me) flasheable theme extracted from [email protected] 10.1 Rom.

Do you have Rixstas and [email protected] permission to post that, as they usually turn down requests for flashable zips of their work?

[MOD] Awesome Framework Animations [DEODEX/ODEX][N7 PORT]

I also own a Nexus 7, and I recently flashed a ROM (see link below if you own an N7) with the coolest animations (in/out) that I've ever seen on an Android device. I was able to create a flashable zip (tested on TWRP by myself, and confirmed working on CWM by multiple users) using the VillainTheme method that successfully adds these animations to the framework on our S4's. It should also work on any other device running 4.2.2, but I have only tested it on the S4.
EDIT: Here is a demo of the animations in action. Thanks to @123hiten for the video!
If you don't like them, download the restore zip below to restore your framework to its original state immediately prior to flashing this mod.
Installation Instructions
* Download the zip file: Penguin ROM N7 Animations Port
* Flash with TWRP
* Reboot
* Enjoy your new window animations!
Uninstall/Restore Instructions
* Download the framework restore zip file.
* Flash with TWRP
* Reboot
* You should now be back to your original framework that you had (any prior mods/edits included) prior to flashing the animations mod.
NOTE: I am not a developer, and in no way do I take credit for the animations themselves...I also obtained permission from the original ROM dev before sharing. See "Credits" below for links to the original developers' work that made this possible.

It should work on any device, although I haven't been able to test it on any Android version lower than 4.2.2. I didn't tweak anything in the animations themselves when I pulled them from the N7 framework, so the fact that it's working on TouchWiz at all should be a good indicator of its universal compatibility
And honestly I'm not even 100% sure that it HAS to be 4.2.2 (not sure if source has been released yet for the S3?)...as I said, I have no way of testing it on any lower versions so I didn't want to attest to it working on anything else. Worst case scenario and she bootloops, just flash the framework restore zip in the OP and she'll be right as rain :good:

Loving the animations, working on Rogers S4
Thanks for sharing this. I was a little bored with touchjiz launcher so I tried the cloned Windows launcher from the market and it blends really well. :good: . Really mimics like a Nokia lumia. ..
So, before installing the CrossBreeder mod, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113150
I was saying, okay, it does something, sometimes, but now it is way cool.
Guess CrossBreeder kicked my phone in the ass!

I would think so, as it was taken from an AOSP-based ROM to begin with

Good point. I figure it would. Just didn't know if this zip was repackage differently to work on touchwiz. I'm thinking about flashing rootbox soon. Just love touchwiz as it is. And the camera is the best

Good question, but nope it shouldn't make a difference. In fact, I flashed the exact same zip on PA 3.6 on my N7, and it worked perfectly
And I'm with you on TouchWiz man, it's amazing how far the amazing devs on here have taken it - it's gotten to the point that pretty much every aesthetic reason for me wanting to stick with AOSP on my old Note has now been implemented on TouchWiz - so I run nothing but that now on my S4.
