Jellybeans 7 or Eclipse? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys, for those who have tried both ROMs, jellybeans7 and eclipse, which one would you recommend and for what feature?

Make a nandroid and try'm both! Maybe keep a backup of both and switch back and forth for a while.

Impossible question to answer. Just try both and see what you like. Same base.

That's what I do. Ran beans 3 for a while, then cleanrom for quite sometime, flashed beans 7 yesterday, flashed eclipse today.
I have a nandroid of all 3 and even a nandroid of stock root.

I tried eclipse, while it's an amazing rom I'm just so used to Beans. Just depends on what kind of theming you want in your rom.

To be honest there isnt that much difference in the TW Roms. Ive been enjoying and trying them all. Eclipse right now, I like the animations.

Eclipse all day. Ran that constantly on the s3 and now the note 2 as well

dark
beans is a great rom and so is eclipse... I just like dark themed roms so I did a nandroid but, eclipse is going 2 be my daily rom....

Beans will offer more tweaks since it's been out for a while. Remember, this is the first release of Eclipse and it's amazing.

Do you guys notice the unusually high notification volume on both beans and eclipse? I can't figure out why it's so damn loud even on the lowest setting. I don't have the problem with PA or CleanRom. I'd much prefer to be using eclipse if I could just figure this out.

rom for my x2

what is the best rom for my x2?
I'll put this in a quick nutshell, you should read up on each one first but:
Eclipse= Best every day rom, very stable, fast, and pretty good customization.
Cyanogenmod 7.2= Stupid fast, pretty stable, customize to your hearts content, still a beta so if you're an android noob, its not the best for you.
Cyanogenmod 9= First Ice Cream Sandwhich rom for our phone, but beware this is still in early alpha stage and has issues but our buddy DragonzKiller is working on it when he gets free time, I would advise not to flash this unless you're somewhat of an advanced user.
MIUI= Gives you an overall iPhone feel. I don't have much experience with this rom, if someone cares to elaborate please do. There is also an ICS version of this but again this stems from the work of dragonzkiller and has many of the same bugs as CM9.

First of all, welcome.
Second, git up on the search bar git down.
Put simply, Eclipse - if you have a single serious problem, feel free to yell at me. Its very likely you won't.

I agree 100%. When I first joined, I thought the search would be kinda lame and wouldn't work like I wanted it to. But, the search for this forum is probably the best out of any of them. Believe me, it's more than likely been asked already....and answered. Give it a whirl. If you still can't find it, its guaranteed that somebody will know the answer.
I beleave Triscuit summed it up nicely.

Haven't had too many issues with Liberty or Eclipse. CM9 is still rough around the edges for a DD and CM7 is alot more stable and polished but still has some issues. I personally am back to the Stock Rom using Holo Launcher and the GB Battery Fix and all is good!

beans vs cleanrom

I have been running cleanrom 3.5 for a few weeks and have been very happy. Tonight I'm either going to flash beans 5 or cleanrom 4. Any advice as to what's more stable and smooth? I think the features are pretty similar aside from the aosp theme of beans.

I would imagine that CleanROM 4.0 is more stable, considering many use CleanROM as there daily driver. Last night I flashed CleanROM 4.0, and haven't had any problems so far. I'm using Verizon Note 2.

They are both stable and smooth. Can't go wrong with either. Its just personal preference.
Beans is also a stable daily driver.

If you want more of an AOSP look to your Note 2, then Beans is the way to go -- he themes his ROM's to give you that AOSP look.
CleanROM is not themed, but very light weight in terms of removed bloatware and other tweaks that the dev has done to the ROM.
I prefer CleanROM since I'm not really a big fan of the AOSP look/feel (I know.. I'm in the minority here).
But as others have said, you can't go wrong with either ROM, they are fantastic. I'm just hoping some of the themer's out there come to this phone as they did on the S3.
I roll my own.

Agreed completely. But the opposite for me, I'm using beans for that AOSP look, coming from the Gnexus, can't go back from it. Plus it's amazingly smooth and stable. Battery life has been great, too.

I don't know. I am the only member with a Note 2 and the abuse seen from some people lately has put off other members. The sense of entitlement from the Android community chases off more talent than anything else.
So, I won't say no, but will leave it as a fading hope, that is still in 'maybe' status but could change to a resounding 'NO'.

I've seen a lot of devs stop releasing stuff because of all the bs. I wish most devs would just post a "this is my rom, take it or leave it but don't B!TCH!" and just release it as they built it for themselves and let others create mods instead of trying to cater to everyone.
Can we please keep on topic for a change.

Beans
Really enjoying Beans ROM. Haven't tried Jedi yet though.
Op they are very different if you just read the OP of each ROM. beans is AOSP themed and based off Verizon. Jedi is neither of those but very nice. It's what you want. Also these threads are so point less. Make a backup and flash each one, run it for a couple days. Then make a backup and flash the other.... Then make a decision.
I've ran every TW based ROM and chose neither because Eclipse fit my wants better. Basically you can ask 20 people this question and get 20 different answers because it's all subjective. There is no better.

[Q] Just flashed JediX ROM and questions about other ROMS

Hello I just wanted to know if there was any way to change the ERI banner from the notification window the one that says "deviant development" its where it usually says Verizon Wireless..I came from a Galaxy Nexus and every ROM I flashed then gave an option to chnage this text but I can't find out how to.
I've searched the forums and couldn't find an answer. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thank you in advance.

Don't know about Jedi you can do it in a lot of other roms... Jedi is kind of limited in customization compared to other roms... ptmr3 makes a great kernel though.

Yeah im on tweaked too, I'm pretty sure i did it in beans before, I don't flash it too much but he pretty much adds every mod people ask for lol so I'm sure someone has.
If 3minit hasn't changed since I used my gnex you can do it on goodness. I know mikey replaced the carrier text with mean bean but you need to go in the system to change it. Clean i'm not sure, moon im not sure.
Any worthwhile aosp rom you can too.

I get the best battery life on tweaked that's why it's my "daily driver" rom. I'd you were on the Galaxy nexus then do you remember the PBJ kernel? The tweaked rom is from the same developer, imnuts. So, for my phone at least, tweaked + PBJ had been the most stable/efficient setup for me.
Here's screen shots of just the status bar options in his "tsm parts" of the settings.... almost as much customization as we used to have on the gnex.

Life after Clean ROM

I was disappointed to read about Scott's decision to stop developing his CleanRom. I found it to be a great balance between TW and Google Edition.
I hope someone will take it over. I don't see a clear alternative to CR.

So, is hyper where everyone is heading?
Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 2
yeah I'm still on 1.0 cause its the best battery life. I've tried 1.3 and 1.5R2 though not 1.6 or 1.6.5.
1.0 is still my DD. Smooth no lag (though i had no lag on stock) and everything worked with crazy battery life. I have all of the Zips DL so I'll always have the nandroids plus the zips. The battery life i got on 1.0 (.25% drain per hour idle and 6-7 hours on screen time) makes me not need to mess with other roms right now. Unfortunatley i was not getting the same battery life with the other versions of this rom.
Also unfortunate he closed the thread right away as we're unable to thank him for a great ROM. I wish him the best and hope whatever changed in his life is good or if not so good things improve for him. Thanks Scott

Not me, I like CleanRom, I've tried Hyperdrive and really like all it's features but I'm running CynogenMod. Why? Because it works on my phone and NO TouchWiz ROM I've tried does work properly with all my apps and I can't figure it out? Apps that ran just fine on my Galaxy S3 work perfectly on AOSP ROMs on the S4 but will not work on any TouchWiz ROM and I haven't the knowledge, time or inclination to trouble shoot TouchWiz so.... CyanogenMod.
I almost cried when I read that message. After having terrible lag issues with hyperdrive, it looks like synergy will be my next go to rom when the update comes out which I will like because it will have more features than CR did. I don't like anything crazy but some tweaks that scott doesn't offer in his stockish rom will be nice. I am going to miss him very much though. Great guy and great dev.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Lmao, I loled when I read this... Good stuff.
I am far from a dev, hell I've barely been using an android device for a month but, devs have such a thankless job/hobby. I am not aware of one that gets money for anything they do (short of "bounties") yet, get ridiculed when something they do may not work for someone.
I appreciate everything, would love to get into doing things like this just have no idea where to start. I wouldn't mind taking a crack at making my own ROM for personal use and if good enough, maybe public. I just have zero experience, lol
