Hi all, just had my partner get the S3 in red non lte version.
What's the most stable way of flashing and rooting 4.2.1 and who's ROM is good? Anyone have any thoughts about this? Does it work better?

Such questions, what is the better rom, are not allowed. Have a look in the dev section, there are a few 4.2.1 roms (also my sig got one). Flashing is the same as in the guides.

Okay fine well ignore that part. Is flashing just as easy, is there a aio kit to flash etx

Also i would like to note since most Roms that have this version will have quiet some bugs,
Thats why i most likely stay away from roms till they are somewhat more mature ^^

Okay so I've been doing some research and international build has touchwiz ux which is like tablet ui on touchwiz rom. Now I'm running clean rom 4.5 which is international 4.1.2 based.
I want to know if I can run this rom on my verizon note 2 and if so. How.

yes but data may not work without some modifications. we share the same hardware as the international version so you wont hard brick. thats the beauty of having exynos.
Hmm. Wasn't there a zip around to flash and make any rom work on Verizon after the fact?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
yes i believe so...have not tried it tho. hopefully somebody can chime in that has.
Yes someone please chime in. I'd like to flash this on my phone. Or other roms for other carriers and see if it works. Seems international builds have the cool stuff like tablet modes on touchwiz. . Because I'm sick of being limited this! Verizon really has no development. And I wanna stay touchwiz
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
fyi there is a tablet ui mod for touchwiz in the dev section.

Okay so I found the zip works to make n7105 roms work with verizon that Scott made. Which is att sprint I guess and some international. But not n7100. I wanna use tablet ux on touchwiz -_-.
Is there anyway to port this. Make it work somehow?
What happens if I flashed anyway. Since n7100 doesn't have lte..

you wont have data like i said previously...you will need to modify the ril and libs files.
But long story short is I cannot be a brick from flashing unless I flash a radio.
Kernels and everything else do not matter?

Hello everyone I am using an ATT Note unlocked on T-Mobile. Is there a way to update it to the newer versions of Android?? It's on 2.3.6. I already rooted it and I am familiar with root and flashing so any help is appreciated.

Already rooted.....flash any ROM for an unofficial update. Any ROM is an update from GB. If your looking for an official update, you may have to return to stock. But there is so much more available with the newer Roms. 4.3 and 4.4 are kicking some bootie.

Go down the list......chances are if it is a custom, developer has gotten rid of bloat. They don't like it so they dump it.
Just read OP, get behind the wheel and take them for a test drive.
Do everyone a favor though, don't start a thread asking "which ROM is the best". No one can say what is going to run best for you.
Read OP for features and go with what interests you.
Hint: find ROM with your interest, then go to last page in thread and read backwards for most recent issues. If you don't feel like battling with that problem, move to next ROM.
Good luck, I hope I have helped.

I recommend going with any ROM 4.3 and above. Those offer the latest features and security updates with stability.

whoa dude
1. android 4.1.1 would be cm10, not cm9. unless you're selling a phone with android 4.0.4, which would be cm9. don't confuse the customer.
2. this phone has a 3G radio only, no 4G.
correction
You are correct and i knew that i was totally mesmorized by the sick ass boot animation which clearly states CM9 BTW can someone tell me how to extract that image and install it on my S2 T989?

next time google the phone specs lol
obviously there is no magic involved here if the phone didn't support 4g from the factory then it never will you are talking about differneces in hardware
something you *should* know by now
also I don't recommenced selling a phone preloaded with cyanogen mod the customer may have issues getting it to activate with verizon afaik last I checked you can not activate a phone running cyanogen mod you need to be running the stock firmware first activate THEN flash to whatever
Im more of a software guy never once had or will have verizon as a carrier or sprint so I wasnt sure and the guy asked so as a stand up guy instead of bull****ting him to sell the phone i asked and phone is advertised with cm rom installed and also for the choice to be flashed back to the powerwashed 2.3.4 GB so thanks for the input but I do *KNOW* how to list and sell a phone.

I hope this question is not a stupid one...
I want to say that I tried searching and all guides come either outdated with broken links or just designed for a different model.
I have a Galaxy Note SGH-i717R which is a canadian version. I cannot find a current working rooting method that will guide me through installing a CWM or TWRP recovery plus let me flash CM or any other KitKat based ROM.
I have downloaded:
CWM-TOUCH-i717-6043.zip but I know I can't install it until I root. But all rooting guides are outdated and do not work.
I have a good idea on how to root and install custom roms, I've done it on various phones including on my Nexus 5 and 7.
Can anyone give me a link or a quick breakdown of what I need?
I can't stress enough that this is a SGH-i717R not SGH-i717, i have a Canadian Version.
Thanks in advance!

With all the different variants of this device, no two are as similar. There have been many to flash the US version to Canadian model. I see no harm, but it is your device. Have you read the Super Everything thread?

I think i've read that thread too and i think most of it did not apply to the R version of thsi phone. Also someone was mentioning that the phone since it is a canadian variant..will reload the stock ROM back on under reboot. Is this true?

Its running 4.1.2
And its not i717 but i717R.... something about the Canadian R variant make its almost impossible to flash with AT&T versions of the ROMs. OR I am not reading the threads correctly.

It's been so long since ICS, I'm not sure if you have to flash JB before going to KK or not. Look for any thread with JamieD81 on it. He's from Canada so his should work.
