I was trying to do a restore with Titanium Backup to restore apps and data and everything in the batch list is greyed out with a line through it.. what gives?? So, I am unable to restore any apps. I am using the pro version, so I don't see what I paid for.
Can someone enlighten me on this. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to download something else?
thanks.
I believe you have to install the app first, idk but i did that with skype and got my data back

Greyed out with a line through them items are the apps that are not currently installed.
If you click on them, it should give you an option to restore, providing that you have backed them up before, of course.
Also, in batch mode, you can restore them all -or chosen ones- at once.
Did you expect to just open the app and your phone go back to the way it was before?
i have the same problem
it restored just few of them automatically
i believe i have to manually install the rest and then restore just the data
but isn't that stupid?
Has anyone found a way around that?
the developer said something about fixing the market link with market doctor option, but that's in the paid version
I spoke to the dev about it actually and he said there seems to be an error with my TBU, so I need to re-install and erase the backup folder and try and backup everything again and verify. I had to redo everything manually.
Thanks for the help though guys. I appreciate it..
I actually just removed TimeScape and a bunch of other useless (to me) stock apps. I did notice as well when I clicked on a greyed-out item that I had uninstalled, there was no restore button.
So I would have to manually restore everything I had backed up, delete the folder, and reinstall?
Hardly seems worth it. I would just reflash if/when I have to restore.
Is there any way to restore all applications with "one click restore"?
I'm getting tired of pressing accept-done for every applications.

I am moving from a TB to the GIII, and am seeing the same issue. Only my installed apps are greyed out. I've copied a new one over, put the card in the other phone backed up and no change. Pretty strange. Time for a little googling...
Can someone tell me where the "physical" folder of the sms'es are located? I need to do a recovery on a galaxy s2...The bloke deleted his sms'es, now i'm trying to recover the lost info...

Based on Root Explorer search
Doing a search for sms found this file on my phone - /data/user/0/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
I can't say for sure if this is it, but that database sure has all of my sms in it
As I'm sure you will also recommend that your friend does future backups of his sms, I thoroughly recommend SMS Backup & Restore. It has worked well for me for a long time, and automatic backups are very easily scheduled

Believe it or not, i have tried locating/searching for mmssms.db before my post...and found nothing
Think what i'll do, is download sms backup and restore....backup my sms'es...and see what the backup file is called...hopefully it will give me an idea where to search (for future ref)...thx for the tip
One thing i DID notice though, is that the "internal" storage, is actually called SDCARD? what a way of naming an internal storage. If i think about INTERNAL storage, its def NOT called an SDCARD...rather call it intstorage, or something like that....it will def confuse people...as we all accept the word SDCARD as a device you plug INTO th cell...and not a build in device...

If you want to backup your sms when switching from a stock samsung rom to another install Titanium Backup from the store (it's free). Find something called [SMS/MMS/APN] and do a backup.
After you install another samsung rom (with wipe), you can just open Titanium and restore Data from the save you made. Make sure you go inside the sms app first and untick 'Delete old messages'. Do a reboot and youre done.
If you are interested in adding new sms messages to your samsung rom (when you used cm9 for example, use Sms Backup and Restore, it's also free on the store). Do a reboot. Save your sms/mms with titanium and youre done.
I havent found a way to transfer mms messages between samsung and cm9/aosp/aokp roms yet.

The files you're looking for are:
mmssms.db
telephony.db (this one contains contacts and call logs)
They are located in:
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/
Internal storage (sdcard)

I guess that you are aware of this but ... just in case ...
The internal storage that you are calling "sdcard" is only partly correct. If fact sdcard is below the top level root. So, sdcard is actually /sdcard, and the data directory where I found the database is /data (not on sdcard, but off the root directory). To get to this you need a rooted phone, and a file explorer like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer.
Sorry if you already knew this, but the sdcard thing was quite confusing to a newby like me before I had done quite a bit on the rooted phone.

At the end of the day...I just left it and couldn't find it, although i could recover my contacts at location "/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/" ( as a previous member has mentioned )
Apparently the smses are located as "data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db"

Hi,
I have about 120 user-apps installed which I installed through Titanium Backup Pro 5 yesterday. Now when I want to back them up again (new settings, new apps and so on) and go into the Batch restore/backup window it shows as if I haven't got a single app installed. It just says 0 everywhere in there.
I've tried deleting data and uninstalling, rebooted and installed Titanium again, nothing.
Switched back and forth with where the storage is kept (internal SD, External SD emmc).
- Running Cyanogenmod 9, nightly 23/4 (should tell you I've never had this problem before and have flashed every CM9 nightly since start Jan 1 2012).
- Gapps for ICS from 22 April
- Busybox 1.18.4 from app installed and OK
and
- SQLite also OK (Says Titanium Backup)
Where do I go from here?
You have a problem with an application which has its own website including links for support.

Hi,
Yup, always factory wipe, wipe cache and Dalvik Cache when flashing a new ROM.
Titanium is version 5.0
I don't remember which version Titanium was when I last ran a backup. ~3 days ago.
The backup folder is full of backups, but they're from ~3 days ago, it's what I used to restore all the apps to this nightly version. It's just that I can't backup any more apps because Titanium says I don't have any apps installed!?
I've made a backup on both PC, emmc and internal SD.
Number of app data elements it says is 225, still shows nothing under "Backup", only under Restore.
I think you are confused, you have installed all the application from TB backup and all the applications are already backed up, then definetely it will show there is 0 application to backup...
if you want to make a fresh backup, move all data to your PC from Titaniumbackup forlder and wipe cache of the TB and try..
Update or reinstall TB then reboot .
jje
Got fed up.
Booted into CWM touch, format data, clear cache, clear dalvik
Reinstall CM9 25/4, reinstall Gapps 22/4.
Reboot.
Downloaded ES file explorer from Play. Copied everything from internal SD to "_Backup"-folder.
Installed Titanium Backup.
Copied my PC-basckup of the Titanium Backup folder.
Restored everything from Titanium Backup.
Now everything works fine again.
UPDATE:
Apparently it's Super SU that's causing Titanium Backup to go haywire. As soon as I installed that and let it become the main Superuser app it screwed up Titanium Backup.
Confirming and an easier way
I had the exact same problem and the culprit seems to be su elite which I had bought a week previous to discovering this.
You do not need to uninstall or reflash cmw. You only need to rename the backup file + delete Titanium cache and data from applications setup.

I've just had this problem crop up. I'm not using su elite. Complete wipe and flash hasn't helped. Renaming the backup file and clearing TiBU's cache and data does make the "number of data elements" report something other than "0." But attempting a backup of any kind shows 0 apps.
Luckily I am able to pull apps and data from my nandroid backup, but that's several days old, and it does nothing for the actual need of a TiBU backup.

What I did to resolve the same issue you guys were having was to rename the backup folder, create a quick back up of an app so the folder gets regenerated. Then plugged phone to PC and deleted the files with "squares" in the file name as other invalid characters in them (besides the a-z, 0-9, and symbols). Copied the old files to the new back up folder and all my backups are being read just fine.
I didn't even have to uninstall the app or clear it's cache or data.

Thanks. I ended up taking another route. I was on the same track you present, but I didn't do the step where you created a quick backup to generate the folder. I was copying the "cleaned" backup to it's original folder and that didn't work. So I pretty much started from scratch, and restored some files from the nandroid.
I'll certainly try your method if it happens again.:fingers-crossed:
Had the Same Issue..
Hi,
I Had the Same Issue, did the whole thing, uninstalling installing, removing TB folder, Removing TB folders from data/data, re-installing again.. didn't help..
The case at my end is that i saw only one app, and at TB main page, at the page headline i saw only that app name, so i tried pressing the search icon at the headline and searched for another app, it was found and the headline change as well to that app name.. so i searched again but this time did a general filter that would probably fit to all of my apps, and it worked ! all of my apps got back to the backup/restore list and to the group batch operation.
Hope this help someone..

I was pulling my hair out - this method was the only one that worked (I tried the others that were suggested). Relieved.
Search worked!
I had the same issue, and the search worked!
I just started a search for any app, once it found it all other apps reappeared at once.
Thanks!

How can I store, for example, home screen settings in a rom image, so that every time a phone is factory reset, the home screens will be laid out the way I want?

Make you a drop box account and have Titanium backup save to it to. I have lost my backup on factory wipes before and drop box was a life saver.
I am aware of the backup options but this is for a device that is going to be distributed to a large number of people. If these people do a factory reset then they need to be presented with the preconfigured default homescreen.
They won't have root access so I can't tell them to reset then perform a restore.

As of what i know you can user Titanium Backup to restore setting with the update.zip feature but i dont know if more personal setting are being restored too. In some .properties file there is my gmail i guess for integration with playstore. If i delete this (or any other) entry will the restore work? Is it safe/good method to integrate something like that in my rom?
Also there is ZIPme that restore the whole datal/data/{app} but doesnt seem to work.
Thanks in advance for help!
I'm new to this forum so i don't know wether i'm posting this in the right sub but i need help with restoring my phone's data. I stupidly used wondershare's "dr fone" to backup all my data on the computer which created a 15.9 gb .bak file. Problem is i didn't know that in order to restore this to your phone you had to have a subscription, before i wiped my phone. Now i am left with the aforementioned .bak file and i would like to know if there are any free pc applications that can restore all my data to the phone using this file. Thanks in advance.
Have you had a look at this thread?

Hi, thanks for replying. I just took a look. I tried a few other apps from google play since appbak was no longer on there, unfortunately none of them were able to use the file (I copied the .bak file from my pc to my phone's internal storage). I then found an old version of appbak through chrome and installed it but it also couldn't use the .bak file to restore my data. Eventually I tried restoring it through my phone's settings like a couple of people recommended but the only backup setting I could find was "Backup by Google One" (because my phone runs on Android One, which is focused on Google Services) and I could not use a local file to start restoring. At this point I might just try to restore my data manually but any further help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
