Please help me with my issue if you have a few minutes. I spent days searching all over for help on flashing the new cm10 on xperia X10 and watched many videos... I downloaded from w u a l a com/CMX10/Android the CM-10 ROM ZIP file version 8.1 to my microSD card and rename it "Update.zip" then I went to "xRecovery v0.3-release" and did "full wipe" then "wipe cash partition" then "wipe dalvik cash" and finally "Install custom zip" and installed Update.zip so xRecovery started processing but then it said Operation Aborted!!! what am I missing???
I tried instead to use the Flashtool v 0.9.8.0 (my xperia is rooted as per the flashtool "INFO - Root Access Allowed") and I read that I have to place the rom zip file in the "firemwares" folder of the flashtool, which I did, but I wasn't sure if I have to put the zip file the way it is or I have to extract the files first, or I have to put only some files there... I don't know!!! Anyway, when I click on the "Flash" button and choose "Flashmode" I can see a new listing on "Select a firmware" column but when I click on it, on the "Firmware content" column to the right I can only see kernel.sin and loader.sin and I saw in some videos there should be more files on the right column. So flash doesn't work accordingly....
Can someone please tell me what I should do exactly? I've read many sites talking about the process but none of them describe it step by step for beginners like me.
Thank you all for your amazing work and thanks to XDA for this great website!!!
Cm10 does not install via recovery it is installed via cmw by the sounds of it you havnt flashed a cm10 kernel which is the most vital part required to get a cm10 Rom go onto the development thread and find scritch007 his cm10 v8.1 kernel and follow instructions carefully

How to install this is scritch007 method that he outlines on his website
Download Latest ROM and put zip file in SDCARD Download Kernel, and Flash using Flastool. DO NOT USE kernel.sin file provided by ROM
Start phone, when purple LED appears, press the back button. You are now in RecoveryMode. Wipe Cache/Data Select Install zip and browse to sdard card and to the ROM.zip file. Install Once installation is done, reboot phone. Let phone boot completely Download gapps and put them on SDCARD Reboot phone into recovery Select install from zip and browse to gapps Reboot phone. You are now Done

Ah, ages ago I had the error you have highlighted in red when attempting to flash other Kernels.
The reason I was getting those errors was because my bootloader was locked.
I was SO sure my bootloader was unlocked I spent ages trying to look for other solutions.
But in the end I unlocked the bootloader and after that, everything else just fell into place.
Check out the following tutorial: Tutorial: Rooting, Bootloader Unlocking and Updating
S1 Tool will also help identify if you bootloader is locked.
If "R4A024" start with a capital "R" your bootloader is locked.

AW: install CM10 to xperia X10
I would: Install stock x10 kernel from dixperia 7 thread (sry but i wont link it), called 2.3 only kernel and baseband. then download seony ericsson update service (seus), follow the instructions ther to reinstall the stock firmware and afterwards do the whole procedure. Flashtool: Root, plugins-> unlock bootloader, flash-> cm10 kernel. then you boot up the phone and press any button when the led lights up.
then in clockwordmod you do a factory reset and wipe dalvik cache and install your rom ("update.zip")
then you boot it up and have cm10. dont forget gapps

Thank you, I did what you said, but when the new CM10 kernel screen appeared (blue) I repeatedly pressed the Back button and then I only got a black screen, not CWM (eventhough I have CWM installed and access to Superuser granted)... Actually after that point, my xperia kept on rebooting with the blue CM10 screen non stop...

Hey thanks man, I really appreciate it. That was the missing piece that nobody was talking about in all the search I did. Unfortunately, I still can't access CWM after the blue CMX10 appears...
Flash a cm7 kernel and enter cwm recovery and install the rom then pull battery out after it has installed then flash the cm10 kernel that's how I did it to install it as your meant to have a cm9 based rom already installed before installing a cm10

Flash CM9 kernel first use flashtool then go to CWM install rom and so others, pull out battery then flash CM10 kernel via flashtool.

Thanks to all those who replied to my problem. After days of reading, watching youtube videos, and flashing/rooting my device a few times, CM10 is now installed on my xperia X10 and works great, despite the lag that I experience from time to time. It's amazing that Jelly Bean can run on a device 2 - 3 years old.
I guess the big challenge for beginners like me is that the instructions found all over the internet are, generally, not detailed enough. The instructions sometimes don't mention a specific detail because they assume the user already knows it.
Maybe I should create my own thread and make it as detailed as possible haha
Thanks again all!!!!!!!!

I have my phone rooted, I have CWM, bootloader unlocked. I flashed Scritch007's newest kernel (v21) and tried installing CM10 v9.4 ROM. (I got these files from link to wuala website, found at scritch's page)
And I got a message:

I tried re-downloading the zip file and installing it again - same thing. I tried downloading the older version of this ROM - nothing changed.
I'm using Xperia X10, 2.3.3 stock, Baseband ver 2.1.71.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

I bought an x10 from a friend today and now I was trying to unlock the bootloader using this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087 however after the batch file finished it got stuck on the SE logo. After waiting a while I decided to just go back to 2.1.

Any ideas how I can revive my phone? I have the PC companion but when I go to phone update -> repair phone, it keeps giving an installation error.
Edit: I forgot to add that I can still get into xrecovery.
were you at 2.3 when you tried to unlock the bootloader??
Yeah, my friend had some sony ericisson 2.3.3 custom rom on. (Wolf something?)
you were supposed to switch back to 2.1 before attempting to unlock the bootloader.
That thread says that it can be unlocked from any rom.
However I don't know what went wrong.
oh sorry about that you needed to downgrade your kernel. did you check if your phone was eligible with the tool provided in the thread. if it says your phone is able to goback to the flashtool and downgrade your kernel and retry unlocking your bootloader. dont do it though if your phone is not elible for the unlocked bootloader.
Yeah I ran the tool and it said my phone was SEMC simlocked or something similar. So I first downgraded, ran the batch to unlock then I got stuck at the SE logo. Been trying to get my phone to boot (to any rom right now then I'll try to unlock the bootloader again).
Any ideas?
did you flash doomlords kernel?? and from what i remember there were 2 applications that came with the file provided. if one doesnt use the other one.(if i remember correctly)

I didn't get that far. All I did was flash the kernel downgrade, then ran the batch file. After it was successful I noticed my phone was stuck on the sony ericsson logo so I didn't continue with the rest of the instructions.
ok then just flash doomlords kernel. if you dont see the white sony ericcson letters after flashing doolords krnel, then you should be in the clear

Ah crap..what if I had the free xperia kernel on? I just did a restore with that on and I can't flash the downgrade kernel..
Btw, I was able to flash doomlords kernel by trying it on another computer. But I think I messed up somewhere so I wanted to start over. And I restored w/out flashing back the stock kernel.
I just downloaded the kernel+baseband package from here and see if I can flash it via flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192152
Edit: ok, that was a close call. Now lets try all this again
Edit2: Okay bootloader unlocked. Flashed the free xperia custom kernel however when I get into CWM-based recovery I get the following error: "Can't mount /sdcard/" whenever I select choose zip from sd card. I was getting this before but I that thought that may be because I didn't flash the bootloader correctly but now I don't know what's causing it.

Then you cannot use pc companion till you relock boot loader
How to re-lock boot loader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134335
I followed these instructions:
1. Download FTF needed http://www.mediafire.com/?o4v5ttaqsjhv3aq
2. Download Flashtool http://www.4shared.com/file/Ot3fyDJf...0-windows.html
3.install flashtool , install the drivers inside the flashtool
4. put the FTF you downloaded in the firmware folder where the flashtool is installed
5. Enable usb debuggin and switch off your phone
6.click on the FLASH icon on flashtool window, choose flashmode
7. if you want to keep your apps and data, uncheck wipe cache and data, its better if you check it but you will lose your data
8.follow the onscreen instructions , it will tell you when and how to connect your phone
9. you will get error at 99%, but your phone will start in ICS...
10. Enjoy
And i got this:

Night Elf's RC2 kernel
I've bricked my Sony Xperia U by installing the wrong kernel.. (a kernel for the N700)
i know its stupid etc etc, but it only gives me a green light when i plug it into my pc.. it goes in flashmode automatic.
So i still can acces flashmode and fastboot mode.. what can i do know?
ive also tried to run this 'UnbrickingXperia2011.zip' over my phone, also tried stock firmware and stuff. nothing will work
Maybe you've got a solution?
Sorry for my bad grammatics or something, i\'m kinda high
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick respond!
I've done that a lot, it goes perfectly etc. but when i unplug and boot its still the same..
So i've tried to run UnbrickingXperia2011.zip and that gave me an error, but that is fixed as soon as i first flash the stock rom, and after that the UnbrickingXperia2011.zip it gives me no error but it doesnt do anything..
Edit: now the error also comes after i flashed the stock rom..
Anyone else?
Please?
I've copied the log:

I've already tried that too. No errors blabla, but the phone didn't change
He says you should flash a kernel with CWM built in. After you've done this you can boot into recovery mode so you can flash any custom ROM you want.

Ohh okay, so it also works even if you can't get your phone 'on' (i can only get Fastboot and Flashmode)
Recovery will work even when the phone won't boot (if there is a working kernel installed).
Like this?
And then?

I'm unable to view your attachments, but this is very easy. Just find yourself a kernel with CWM for your Xperia, then flash it using fastboot.
Start in recovery mode, find yourself a custom ROM for your Xperia and install it using CWM (recovery).

That's the kernel you need, if your phone model is ST25.
But please notice the following:
No USB connection in recovery whatsoever (no adb, no USB mount etc.)

This means you CAN'T put any ROM on your sd card, so the ROM should already be placed on the sd card in order to install.

What custom Rom is that in your screenshot?
Just get fxp 204 from here and fastboot only the boot.img which can be extracted from the zip file. It comes baked with cwm, you can use this to flash other roms.
I'm not sure about the cwm link you posted.

That's the right way. Use that command to install the kernel you linked, then boot into recovery to install the ROM that's already on your sd card using CWM (ROM must be in .zip format for CWM).

* AROMA Installation wizard, I cant click the next button (or the screen is not responding)
*I successfully installed the Rom using the volume key and home key as the (ok and next back button)
*After the installation, I restart the device according to the instruction in the wizard
*Now I'am stuck on SE
Now my Questions Are;
* Do I download the Wrong FeraLab Rom?
* Is it Not Compatible with my Device? If Yes Compatible for FeraLab Rom. What version of FeraLab is Compatible with me?

I just remembered. There might be a chance that it's an at&t device and 2.3.3 might not be available via SEUS. What you can do is change the region of you build.prop to get the updated fw.

it is a typical problem with the feralab rom you must have chosen unlocked bootloader in the aroma while you have locked one or the opposite just reflash your phone to 2.3.3 and try again
If its stuck on SE means the kernel has not been flashed yet, actually before installing the rom you should flash the 2.3 ftf (do a Google search for it, it's there)

ROM is for both bootloader but follow kernel flashing according to your bootloader either locked or unlocked. It is available in feralab official site
FOR LOCKED BOOTLOADERS:
-- Download ZIP file called nearly same as [LB]FeraKernel-GB-xxx.zip and copy it to SDcard.
-- Boot to xRecovery and flash zip(all drivers are already in kernel zip).
-- Reboot your device twice and you're done.
FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS:
-- Download FTF file called nearly same as FeraKernel-GB-xxx.ftf and put it to /firmware folder in FlashTool root folder.
-- Download ZIP file with 'DRIVERS' label and put it to SDcard
-- Flash FTF kernel file using FlashTool, and boot directly to recovery (press BACK-Key on led light).
-- Flash 'DRIVERS' zip and reboot your phone twice. Done.

My phone: Sony Xperia P. Last night I flasht an recovery with clockworkmod. The recovery finished correctly but when i tried to reboot my device however my phone didn't turn on. Now when i try to turn my device on it shows a red light for a few seconds and then it stops.
So i tried using the flash tool to unbrick my phone. I have installed the right firmware. So when i try to flash it it should work but it doesn't, here is what the program says:

There is a kernel in the firmware FTF file.
What he can to us extract the kernel.sin from the FTF dile (with 7-zip or another program) and make kernel only FTF with flashtool.
thank you guys for replys, will try to use pc companian, but most likely extract the kernal and run the flashtool again
