Dont know what you have been reading or where from .
All i can say is 500 flashes plus with no USB debugging on .
USB Debugging is intended for development purposes only. It can be used to copy data between your computer and your device, install applications on your device without notification, and read log data."
Your choice to believe the answers or not or just stick with stock .

If rooting worked, then don't worry.
If your not sure that it worked then download a root checker from the Play Store.

Tryy changing the kernel..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I was going through threads on rooting, ROMs, kernels and bricking. Before reading threads about bricking I wanted to root my phone but after reading I got scared of bricking my phone which I think is difficult to debrick (unbrick).
Is it really the case that we cannot debrick the phone at home? Is it ok to root with such a consequence?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
All I can say is if you're that worried about it, don't root your phone or flash anything. Leave it on stock & enjoy it.
Is it possible to change ROM without rooting the phone?
And what are the chances of bricking the phone while rooting? And if bricked what is procedure to make it as earlier

use this to root your S2...It is 100% risk free. However use only if u are on ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Also, read everything before u flash a rom/kernel..95% of them get bricked without reading or consulting properly

I read it, but I didn't not find anything written as it won't brick the phone. So just wanted to confirm even if I made any mistake, it won't brick my phone, right?

The thing is u are just installing CWM and busybox that gives you root by that method mentioned. Believe me i was also afraid and i rooted using that method..took hardly 30s lol
And it wont wipe anything..
Just go ahead..u aint flashing any inseure kernel or any rom..so there is no chance of bricking..Go ahead

i was trying to root my SGS2 using this method but i never found file CWM.zip file in the "apply updates from external storage" options. i tried to moving it to sdcard (main folder), creating a folder in sdcard and by moving it to folder android under sdcard (which is visible in those options) but couldn't find CWM.zip file. i use volume up + home key + power button to go to recovery mode.
plz help me regarding that why i couldn't find that file
Done with rooting.
Thanks all for the help

no mate i dont have checked it yet, maybe
I thimk nobody tried to run this on gingerbread. Theoreticaly if you will be able to run recovery from that post you will be able to flash any zip with root for gigerbread (search for one). Dunno if someone even tested that. Not having usb will be a huge problem if something will go wrong so I don't know if You should try.
Try first update your phone via Settings->About phone->Firmware update to ICS then root. If You have stock firmware You should be able to update.

mate, the problem is phone's USB socket, not USB cable
USB socket is broken in this phone and here in my area is not a repairing agent for fixing it
Its not difficult to replace the usb board.Theres videos on here and you tube showing how to do it.
You can get the link by looking at a motherboard thread I created;and a guy called Roger posted the link.

You need to include way more information. Please refer to the thread in my sig for the info you need to include to get the best answers.
Also you need to make sure that Kies is not running in the background. And make sure you have the drivers installed

Also make sure to try out different usb ports. It was one of my problem once where my phone wasn't detected in a certain usb port eventhough I flashed through it once.

Also you should try installing/re installing the drivers for your phone

1) Make sure USB Debugging is 'ON'
2) Disable your PC's antivirus and uninstall if you have it installed on your phone.
3) Make sure that the mobile drivers are installed on your PC, check for that in the device manager.
4) Make sure you know what you are flashing and that Kernel/Firmware is developed for your model. You cannot flash SIII kernels on SII as that would brick your device!
5) That's pretty much it!
Good Luck!

Kies is like Odin's bigger brother, so it can interfere with Odin while flashing. U MUST EXIT Kies using ur Task manager before starting Odin.
