Yup I just noticed this
My pa's a110 has 307mb ram used and about 167mb free
Thats strange
512mb physical ram
And ram used by system is only about 40mb
How is this possible!??
And gpu alone cant make a difference of 90mb ram
There are several other things but what?

The theory is like Intel GMA graphic, it's shared the system RAM as their video memory, and also depend on different GPU
Like my sola, it got 512MB RAM, but system accessible only 387MB, so mean my Mali-400 take 125MB RAM as their video memory.

Is there a way to disable the GPU when not needed like when messaging, calling or keeping the phone on standby?? It will save much ram and battery

OMG
This question is basic
You can search and read ram management at google bro

just use advance task killer in the market for killing running apps from the background, to free some memory.

Pimp my rom or android tweaker from market if i remember good has such options

Reducing MALI 400 (dedicated video memory requires kernel recompilation, as I see nobody tried it.

The best memory tweak is v6 supercharger script by zepplinox(spelling?)

[Xperia U] What is the RAM of the device (512 / 386 mb)

I know that its supposed to be 512mb, but all the Task Managers I use suggest otherwise. They all show it to be 386mb. Could someone please tell me what is going on? Thanks
Tapatalked from Xperia U
It is 512 mb but you only have 386 available. The system needs the other 126mb of RAM to run

Then why is it that the system processes also seem to consume the available 386mb? The likes of Launcher, Keyboard etc.

Those are considered apps by Android. The system itself needs another RAM.

Those aren't really system processes. Real system processes are the kernel, networking stacks, drivers, ... And then you have another bit of memory reserved for the GPU. It's normal.

ram

Is there program to increase RAM Sony u?

Bro, RAM is hardware. If you mean to free up RAM, there are programs in the Market like Ram Booster etc, but they are not neaded, free RAM is wasted RAM in Android.
Sony has poor ram management. I hope 4.1 in december will fix it.

[Q] [ Xperia P ] Ram usage?

Hi
I want to buy Xperia P and it has 1gb of Ram, but I have little question
What is the free available Ram amount after killing all the processes?
Like in sola, it has 512mb of ram, after killing the processes it free only ~ 130mb,

Depending on the rom. On stock CM9 with nothing installed I get around 450 MB RAM; stock ICS rom should be around 400

[U] Mali-400 ram allocation

Hi guys!
I'm sure you know why we can't get official jelly bean. Because we have only 512 ram. Since only 388 is user available, thats not enough for JB to run smooth. Well I'm not a developer, but as far as I know, Mali-400 is the black sheep here. It consumes 124mb ram. Isn't it possible to lower it's consumption like with Intel integrated graphics? I know it's kernel related, and I have only basic Java knowledge, but I'm sure someone can do this here, if this possible of course.
I'm sorry if this already been discussed, just trying to help somehow.
Download kernel spurce and check mali 400 gpu config, its pretty well explained how to modify it.

Actually unofficial port of JB runs pretty smooth on Xperia Sola

In one of the kernel threads for sola, guys tried change the amount of ram and make more ram available to user, but it only produces instability and graphical glitches.
In other device (s advance?) they tried to allocate about 400mb og ram to system! All works pretty good, but games force close rondomly due to the poorer ram dedicated to gpu
BTW, the best is to allocate 390mb to system!

I know that because mali is running in high texture quality mode,by lovering quality we can also increase performance and allocating more RAM to user/system.

It was definetely not S advance, it has 768mb ram, from which 625mb is available.

Yep, it was on experimental v8 kernel for XU
I was wondering this as well as I've got a raspberry pi and that let's you adjust the memory split between ram and graphics, personally I never plan on gaming on my phone, watching an SD film with my player or a bit of YouTube is the most taxing thing it will do, so that much memory seems a waste.
+1 good idea

[XPU] Help needed regarding low RAM issue in Stock ICS (.54)

Currently I am using b.1.54 stock ICS plus Sliding XU kernel plus JDWalker's modified build.prop. Performance is OK for me but the only problem that I am facing is low free RAM (around 80-90 MB).
Any help?

I think it's normal... you can only get 150 mb free RAM (see screenshots) but you could also try .100 stock ICS it is faster than previous ones.....

Fact is that I have removed Gapps as well to have some more RAM but still below 100 doesn't look good.
