Hi
I want to buy Xperia P and it has 1gb of Ram, but I have little question
What is the free available Ram amount after killing all the processes?
Like in sola, it has 512mb of ram, after killing the processes it free only ~ 130mb,

Depending on the rom. On stock CM9 with nothing installed I get around 450 MB RAM; stock ICS rom should be around 400

hey guys after i flashed lightening rom i noticed that my ram changed from being 1 gb to 835mb why is that???

Gpu uses some ram, also system reserves some for itself.

I know that its supposed to be 512mb, but all the Task Managers I use suggest otherwise. They all show it to be 386mb. Could someone please tell me what is going on? Thanks
Tapatalked from Xperia U
It is 512 mb but you only have 386 available. The system needs the other 126mb of RAM to run

Then why is it that the system processes also seem to consume the available 386mb? The likes of Launcher, Keyboard etc.

Those are considered apps by Android. The system itself needs another RAM.

Those aren't really system processes. Real system processes are the kernel, networking stacks, drivers, ... And then you have another bit of memory reserved for the GPU. It's normal.
Is there program to increase RAM Sony u?

Bro, RAM is hardware. If you mean to free up RAM, there are programs in the Market like Ram Booster etc, but they are not neaded, free RAM is wasted RAM in Android.
Sony has poor ram management. I hope 4.1 in december will fix it.

Yup I just noticed this
My pa's a110 has 307mb ram used and about 167mb free
Thats strange
512mb physical ram
And ram used by system is only about 40mb
How is this possible!??
And gpu alone cant make a difference of 90mb ram
There are several other things but what?

The theory is like Intel GMA graphic, it's shared the system RAM as their video memory, and also depend on different GPU
Like my sola, it got 512MB RAM, but system accessible only 387MB, so mean my Mali-400 take 125MB RAM as their video memory.
Is there a way to disable the GPU when not needed like when messaging, calling or keeping the phone on standby?? It will save much ram and battery

OMG
This question is basic
You can search and read ram management at google bro

just use advance task killer in the market for killing running apps from the background, to free some memory.

Reducing MALI 400 (dedicated video memory requires kernel recompilation, as I see nobody tried it.
The best memory tweak is v6 supercharger script by zepplinox(spelling?)
Original and the best

Hello Guys,
I am planning to buy a xperia. My choices are xperia p & Xperia sola.
P is with 1 GB of RAM while SOLA with 512 MB...
other specifications difference is useless for me like..
screen size, front camera, hdmi port, better camera, no sdcard support in P, unofficial jellybean for sola ...and many more..
But I have questions that...
512 mb RAM is capable of running custom Android 4.2 smooth or not ?
Also , will 512 mb ram be enough to handle Android 5.0 which is comming soon.
Note: I am asking these questions because I am a multitasking addictive.
Go for Xperia P, you will not have any problem with 1gb of ram.
BTW, 512mb are enough to run everything smoothly without sony's shi**y bloatware.

Bro - first Sola wont get official JB from Sony if you dont know, P will get it.
Second if there is unofficial JB for Sola it will be 4.1, Sola will never get 5.0 imo.
P is the better one.
If i were you i would get Nexus 4.
Please man be smarter and think before you ask

Definitely SXP...if u got the money!
1gb ram is quite useful...future is safe!
you'll atleast be gettng official JB!
I gotta SXU...and i think 512mb ram is enough but its definitely better to go for a device having 1gb ram!
Smoothness is definitely there even with devices having 512 mb ram...but if u particularly hate occasional redraws...then blindly buy SXP! And multitasking is also better in case on XP!
Buy wisely!
Cheers!
Buy the Xperia P or the Xperia S... These will get the future official or unofficial updates... Xperia s has more big dev community.....we don't know anything about Nova Thor....if ST Ericsson releases sources then future unofficial updates can be possible for this community...
